Abstract

This paper proposes a novel and efficient method for traffic sign recognition based on combination of complementary and discriminative feature sets. The extracted features are the histogram of oriented gradients (HOG) feature, Gabor feature and Compound local binary pattern (CLBP) feature. The classification is performed using the extreme learning machine (ELM) algorithm. Performances of the proposed approach are evaluated on both German Traffic Sign Recognition Benchmark (GTSRB) and Belgium Traffic Sign Classification (BTSC) Datasets respectively. The results of the experimental work demonstrate that each feature yields fairly high accuracy and the combination of three features has shown good complementariness and yielded fast recognition rate and is more adequate for real-time application as well.

Abstract

This paper presents a new biometric score fusion approach in an identification system using the upper integral with respect to Sugeno's fuzzy measure. First, the proposed method considers each individual matcher as a fuzzy set in order to handle uncertainty and imperfection in matching scores. Then, the corresponding fuzzy entropy estimates the reliability of the information provided by each biometric matcher. Next, the fuzzy densities are generated based on rank information and training accuracy. Finally, the results are aggregated using the upper fuzzy integral. Experimental results compared with other fusion methods demonstrate the good performance of the proposed approach. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

A highly robust digital Image watermarking using steerable pyramid transform and dual encryption technique is proposed and simulated. In this paper, steerable pyramid transform is chosen as a suitably transform domain due to its impressive properties for image processing applications. These properties are rotation invariance and translation invariance which are very desirable in applications that involve representation of position or orientation of image structure like digital watermarking. The embedding process performs steerable pyramid transform on the host image using three scales and one orientation. A pretreatment is used to encrypt the binary watermark of size 32x32 using a dual encryption function. After the pretreatment process the encrypted watermark is embedded into low-subband steerable pyramid. Experimental evaluation demonstrates that the proposed scheme is highly robust against several attacks such as Salt \& pepper, Speckle noise, Gaussian noise, Average filter, Median filter, Weiner filter, Sharpening, JPEG compression, Resizing, Rotation, and Cropping. 44. An energy efficient clustering protocol for routing in Wireless Sensor Network

Abstract

In Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), the power supply is generally a non-renewable battery, consequently, energy effectiveness is a crucial factor. To maximise the battery life and therefore the duration of network service, a robust wireless communication protocol providing a best energy efficiency is required. In this paper, we present an Enhanced Low Energy Clustering Protocol for Routing in WSN (ELECP). The ELECP is a decentralised clustering algorithm that can be used in the case where the area sensed data are not perfectly correlated. The technique, used to partition the network, allows the distribution of energy load among any sensor nodes; this extends network lifetime. Simulation results show that the network lifetime is increased largely comparable to existing schemes.
