Four novel Pd (II), Cu (II), VO (II), and Ag(I) complexes were prepared from benzimidazole ligand through bidentate chelating mode. Alternative spectral and analytical tools were applied to elucidate their structural and molecular formulae. This study was extended to investigate stability and stoichiometry of complexes in solution, using standard methods. In addition, the best atomic distribution within structural forms was obtained via the density functional theory (DFT) method. This computational study fed us with significant physical characteristics for differentiation. Also, DFT/time‐dependent DFT computations were performed applying (B3LYP/6‐311++G[d,p]/aug‐cc‐pVTZ/aug‐cc‐pVTZ‐PP) level in order to investigate the electronic behavior of the compounds. These results demonstrated good agreement with the experimental data. Computational data discriminate Pd (II) complex by some physical features, which may be promising in the catalytic field. This complex was selected to play a catalytic function to synthesize 3‐methyl‐4‐phenyl‐4,9‐dihydro‐1H‐pyrazolo[3,4‐d][1,2,4]triazolo[1,5‐a]pyrimidine derivatives using microwave irradiation in a one‐pot reaction. The catalyst was selected for this application based on the history of Pd (II) complexes and the properties expected theoretically. A condensation reaction for 3‐methyl‐5‐pyrazolone, aromatic aldehyde, and 5‐aminotetrazole was carried out under mild reaction conditions by microwave irradiation. All reaction conditions were optimized among those variable Lewis acid catalysts in comparison with our new complexes. DOBPAPd catalyst displayed superiority in overall trials with high yield, short time, and green conditions (solvent H2O/EtOH). Also, the recovery of hetero catalyst was succeeded and reused by the same efficiency up to five times after that the efficiency was reduced. The mechanism of action was proposed based on the ability of Pd (II) for adding extra‐bonds over z‐axis and supported by theoretical aspects. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Three GUBZCu, GUBZVO, and GUBZPd chelates have been prepared from 2‐guanidino benzimidazole (GUBZ ligand) by a bidentate coordinating approach. FT‐IR, mass, and NMR spectra; magnetic moment; CHN analysis; UV–Vis spectra; molar conductance; and TGA were studied to describe and estimate the molecular formulae of tested molecules. The stability constant for GUBZ complexes was estimated in the solution. Also, the pH profile displays the extra stability of tested complexes. Structure elucidation of the studied complexes had been supported by density functional theory (DFT) along with calculated electronic and vibrational spectra. Electronic absorption spectra were estimated practically through UV–Vis spectra and theoretically performed using the time‐dependent TD‐DFT/B3LYP, for computing the absorption maximum, oscillator strength, and excitation energy of the tested compounds. This study was done into these chelates' catalytic performances for the environmentally friendly synthesis of 7‐amino‐4,5‐dihydro‐tetrazolo[1,5‐a]pyrimidine‐6‐carbonitrile derivatives utilizing aromatic aldehyde, malononitrile, and 5‐amino tetrazole as reactants. The used reactions have been directed in a concerned environment through a green solvent. The obtained results verified the promising catalytic activity and selectivity of the tested complexes. All tested reaction conditions have been enhanced between variable Lewis acid catalysts in associating to our studied complexes. GUBZPd catalyst presented an advantage in overall tests through high yield, green conditions, and short time. Also, the regaining of hetero‐catalyst has prospered as well as recycled through the same effectiveness up to four or five times, and then the performance has been reduced. The mechanism of action has been recommended depending on the capability of the Pd (II) complex for totaling extra bonds above the z‐axis as well as reinforced with theoretical study. Three novel nanosized Cu(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes of imine ligand attained from the condensation of 2‐amino‐3‐hydroxypyridine and 3‐methoxysalicylaldehyde have been prepared and investigated using diverse chemical methods such as NMR, CHN analysis, conductance, IR, Spectral studies, TGA and magnetic moment measurements. The obtained data confirmed that the synthesized complexes have metal: ligand ratio of 1:1 and octahedral geometry for Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes. Interestingly, The complexes are used as precursors for producing CuO, Co2O3 and NiO nanoparticles by calcination at 500 °C and their structures were described by powder x‐ray and transmittance electron microscopy. Furthermore, to investigate the feasibility of using the synthesized materials for semiconductor based nanodevices, the electrical properties of the prepared imine complexes and their corresponding metal oxides were investigated by measuring the electrical conductivity over a temperature range 373‐593 K. The data confirm that the materials are semiconductor. The electrical conduction process in the complexes is governed by intermolecular and intramolecular transfer of the charge carriers. But, the conduction mechanism arises from the contribution of the phonon‐assisted small polaron hopping in NiO nanoparticles and charge carrier hopping in CuO and Co2O3 nanoparticles. A robust synthesis for magnetic CoFe2O4 nanoparticles via a hydrothermal technique was investigated. The prepared magnetic nanoparticles were characterized using powder X-ray diffraction, scanning, transmission and high-resolution transmission electron microscopies, energy-dispersive X-ray and infrared spectroscopies, thermogravimetric analysis and vibrating sample magnetometry. Based on the obtained data, the prepared powder was composed of ultrafine particles in nanometer size range with highly homogeneous spherical shape and elemental composition. Moreover, the prepared magnetic CoFe2O4 nanoparticles were used as an efficient catalyst for green synthesis of tetrahydropyridines and pyrrole derivatives in excellent yields, with easy work-up and purification of products by non-chromatographic methods.
