Present study was designed to investigate the predictive strength of perceived stress and social support in the general health of HIV-positive patients and the moderating role of social support in relationship between perceived stress and their general health. A correlational research design was used. HIV-positive diagnosed patients (N = 361) were given representation in the sample (men= 291, 80.6% and women = 70, 19.4 %). Age of the sample ranged between 18-67 years (M = 36.4; SD = 10.3). The sample completed demographic data sheet, Berlin Social Support Scale, Perceived Stress Scale, and General Health Questionnaire. These self-report measures were used to collect data on social support, perceived stress and general health. Results showed significant relationships among social support, perceived stress, general health and its components (e.g., somatic symptoms, anxiety, social dysfunctioning, and depression). Social support and perceived stress appeared as significant predictors of general health. However, social support did not appear as a significant moderator between the relationship of perceived stress and general health of HIV-positive patients. The purpose of this article is to present the translation, adaptation and validation process of the Beliefs About Dreams Questionnaire (BADQ) in Urdu language for the Pakistani context. Forward and backward translation procedure by Brislin (1976) was carried out. A sample of 510 people participated in the study. Before forward translation, item number 24 was divided in two separate items. Two Items (item nos: 25 and 26) were excluded from the scale and two new items (item nos: 26 and 27) have been introduced in factor “Dream Superstition”. During reconciliation of items some items (item nos: 4, 11, 13 and 16) were rephrased on the expert’s opinion. Eight items (item nos: 8,14, 15,19,21,22,23 and 25) were deleted due to item loading <.30. Confirmatory factor analysis showed excellent model fit of the data with a five factor structure. The final model of the scale with 19 items showed good model fit with .35–.71 range of the factor loading. Alpha coefficient of subscales ranged from .60 to .70. Positive correlation of the translated and adapted scale with original scale (r= .96, p<.01) provided cross language validity evidence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Fear of infinity or aerophobia in terms of rational fear is known as apeiroanxiety. Islam has emphasized a lot upon the infinity of afterlife including infinite rewards and infinite punishments. More often it is observed that more religious a person becomes, more knowledge of its teachings he gains and hence a clear understanding of infinite afterlife is made which is most often a source of fear and anxiety for most of the people. The present study was aimed at exploring the role of afterlife belief in relationship between religiosity and apeiroanxiety among Muslims. The study was conducted using correlational survey research design where convenient sampling technique was used for data collection. Sample comprised of 800 Muslim participants. Self-report measures were used including Apeiroanxiety Scale, Positive and Negative subscales of Afterlife Belief Scale for Muslims and Short Muslim Practice and Belief Scale Urdu version to measure apeiroanxiety, afterlife belief, and religiosity. Findings of the study revealed that religiosity had significant positive relationship with apeiroanxiety (r=0.15**). Results also showed significant results for the interactional effect of positive afterlife belief and religiosity which means moderation occurred. The significant moderation showed that positive relationship between religiosity and apeiroanxiety is weakened by positive afterlife belief. Whereas nonsignificant results for the interactional effect of negative afterlife belief and religiosity were found which means no moderation occurred by negative afterlife belief. OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of relationship dynamics and isolation on mental health of infertile women. METHODS: This correlational study was conducted on pregnant women from January 2018 to December 2018. About 150 infertile women in the age range 18 to 50 years were enrolled from selected infertility centers of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Pakistan. Three different scales, like Relationship Dynamics Scale (RDS), Revised UCLA Loneliness Scale (RULS) and Mental Health Inventory (MHI), were used in this study. Multiple Regression, Pearson Correlation Matrix and T-test were applied on study variables using SPSS v.21.0. RESULTS: Infertile women with uterus issue are higher on relationship dynamics scale (M= 16.16±3.18), UCLA loneliness scale (M= 50.87±8.80), and on components of mental health inventory e.g., positive affect (M=17.29±3.58). Infertile women with tube issues are higher on MHI, e.g., anxiety (M=18.91±3.47), depression (M=15.58±3.34) and behavioral control (M=17.83±2.55). Linear regression analysis showed significant negative effect of relationship dynamic scale that brought about 32.5% change in anxiety, 4% in depression, 4.4% change in behavior control, and 5.7% change in positive affect which are four major components of mental health (p<.001). Loneliness scale also showed negative effect on components of mental health that brought about 23.4% variance in anxiety, 2.2% in depression, 12.8% in behavior control, and 16.8% in positive among infertile women (p< .001). CONCLUSION: Infertile women having more relationship dynamics were found to be low on depression, anxiety, behavior control and positive affect. OBJECTIVE To investigate the mediational role of perceived social support in relationship between emotional intelligence and perceived stress in HIV positive patients in Pakistan. STUDY DESIGN Cross sectional research design. PLACE AND DURATION OF THE STUDY Data were collected from three HIV treatment centres from August 2015 to August 2016. Patients were recruited from Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences lslamabad(PIMS), Jinnah Hospital Lahore and New Light AIDs Control Program (NGO) Rawalpindi. PARTICIPANTS AND METHOD Participants of the current study were 204 registered HIV positive patients of age ranged between 20 to 60 years. Both male and female sample was included in the study. Participants completed the scales of Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), Berlin Social Support Scale (BSSS) and Emotional Intelligence Scales (EIS). All the Scales took 20-25 minutes to be completed by the respondents. RESULTS Regression analysis revealed that emotional intelligence appeared to be a significant predictor of perceived social support and perceived stress. Morover mediational analysis revealed that relationship between emotional intelligence and perceived stress was found to be mediated by perceived social support.
