Abstract

The article describes polio eradication activities and progress in Afghanistan between January 2018 and May 2019. Topics include authorization of vaccination of children at designated community sites from January to April 2019, the standard supplementary immunization activity (SIA) approach for polio eradication, and the use of low quality assurance sampling surveys to examine the quality of SIAs in areas where post-campaign monitoring is permitted.
