Managing landscape services on small islands requires special attention due to resource constraints impacting socio-economic dynamics. This study identifies landscape services on Pasaran Island, Bandar Lampung City, considering ecological, social, and economic factors, and examines the importance and performance of these services from residents' perspectives. Using the Importance-Performance Analysis Matrix (IPMA) in SPSS, 100 local residents who have lived on the island for at least five years were surveyed to understand the community's socioeconomic background. Drone mapping facilitated by DroneDeploy, Agisoft Photoscan Pro, and QGIS revealed diverse land use in Pulau Pasaran. The research highlighted that 37% of the population monthly incomes ranging from 300,000 to 1,000,000 IDR, influenced by natural resource availability. IPMA analysis categorized findings into quadrants: Quadrant I stressed enhanced community and government involvement in landscape service management. Quadrant II reflected community concerns about risks from landscape service use. Quadrant III underscored the necessity for greater transparency in government funding. Quadrant IV indicated community to engage in landscape service planning. The IPMA results for Pasaran Island identified significant gaps in community management: transparency (-0.09), labor assistance (-0.06), and cleanliness (-0.03). Conversely, positive gaps were found in financial assistance (+0.09) and community desire to reduce damage (+0.02). In conclusion, community needs is essential for effective landscape service management.

Background. The Babon River is one of the drainage channels in Semarang, Indonesia, that is used for drinking water, irrigated agriculture of paddy fields and gardens, fish farming media, and the disposal of industrial wastewater. This study aimed to assess the spatial distribution of metals in the sediment of the Babon River through the utilization of different pollution indices. These indices included concentration factor (Cf), contamination factor (CF), enrichment factor (EF), geoaccumulation index (Igeo), sediment pollution index (SPI), threshold effect level (TEL), and probable effect level (PEL). Methods. Seven sampling locations were sampled for water and sediment in April, June, and September of 2021. The measurement of the metal was conducted using an atomic absorption spectrophotometer. Results. The findings of the study demonstrated that sediments with a predominant sand texture exhibited higher levels of Cd and Pb, while the sediments characterized by a predominant clay texture had a higher concentration of Cr. Upon analyzing the Cf, CF, EF, Igeo, and SPI data, it has been confirmed that the sediment in the Babon River has substantial levels of Cd, Cr, and Pb. According to the TEL and PEL values, it can be observed that the presence of Cd and Pb has detrimental effects on the biological health of the benthic biota. Conclusions. The aquatic biota and the benthic environment may be subject to adverse effects in the event where the concentration of metals in the sediment is higher than the natural concentration of metals. Situ Gunung Putri is one of the urban lakes in Bogor Regency, Indonesia, which has been affected by population growth and industrialization, making these waters vulnerable to heavy metals contamination. This study aimed to determine the distribution and concentration of heavy metals in Situ Gunung Putri in the water, sediment, and fish. Heavy metals were analyzed using the acid destruction method referring to APHA Standard Methods, while data analysis consisted of descriptive analysis and Bioaccumulation Factor (BAF). Heavy metals concentration in surface water still meets the tolerable value of national quality standards, except for Pb. Meanwhile, heavy metals concentration in sediments has exceeded the Threshold Effect Level (TEL) and Probability Effect Level (PEL) of Canadian Freshwater Sediment Guidelines, and the highest concentrations for all metals found at station 1, located near the inlet from the industries. Metals analysis in fish flesh showed that they exceeded the permitted threshold, except for Cu. Several types of heavy metals show a negative correlation between fish body length and heavy metal concentrations. The BAF value in fish flesh shows results of >1000 for Cu and Zn metals.

Environmental DNA (eDNA) has the potential to be a viable approach for detecting the existence of aquatic organisms, such as plankton. This study aimed to assess the biodiversity and composition of plankton species in the Lower Ciliwung River, Jakarta, Indonesia. During the dry season (July 2022), the study was conducted upstream to downstream of the Lower Ciliwung River. Based on read sequences, the relative abundance, biological community composition, and diversity of plankton were evaluated. In this study, a total of 1,492,975 original reads filtered to 1,265,307 reads, belonging to 22 species of eukaryotic phytoplankton and 15 species of zooplankton. The taxa identified from the eDNA samples show that order Thalassiosirales from class Mediophyceae (eukaryotic phytoplankton) and order Ploima from class Monogononta (zooplankton) were the most commonly discovered plankton. The relative abundances of eukaryotic phytoplankton and zooplankton detected in eDNA water samples did not differ significantly (p-value>0.05). The most abundant species for all sites were Stephanocyclus cryptica (phytoplankton) and Moina macrocopa (zooplankton). The eukaryotic phytoplankton and zooplankton diversity index (H') were in the low to moderate category. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
