Introduction: This study investigated the association and prognostic values of serum C-reactive protein (CRP), procalcitonin (PCT), soluble urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (suPAR), and neopterin levels in patients with ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP). Materials and Methods: This prospective observational age-and gender-matched study included 38 adult patients who were diagnosed with VAP and 40 adult patients without VAP. The Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II (APACHE II), Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) and Clinical Pulmonary Infection Scores were calculated, and the daily positive end-expiratory pressure values of the patients were recorded. The serum levels of CRP, PCT, suPAR, and neopterin were measured once in controls (control group) and on days 0, 3, and 5 and at the end of treatment in the VAP group. Results: The CRP, PCT, neopterin, and suPAR levels were significantly higher in the VAP group than in the control group. APACHE II and SOFA values were higher in the VAP group than in the control group. C-reactive protein value on day 0 of >14.5 ng/ml and PCT level on day five of >1.23 ng/ml were 100% specific for the prediction of mortality in the VAP group. Conclusion: Measuring CRP, PCT, neopterin, and suPAR levels may aid in the early diagnosis of VAP in patients hospitalized in the ICU. High CRP and PCT levels, as well as high APACHE II and SOFA scores, may have prognostic value in the follow-up of patients with VAP.

West Anatolian Region ,Gökova Bay ,seismic ,sedimentation - Abstract
In this research which has been prepared to show the relationship between Gökova Bay's morphotectonic structure and seismicity, it is clear that there are many active faults in the region. The existence of a thick sedimentary accumulation since Late Quaternary times is obvious as a result of the geophysical workings in the region and the interpretation of seismic data which has been planning to be taken from the Bay. In the regions which have been tectonically active according to the interpretation of the taken data, the existence of the successive earthquakes in the last few years is remarkable. By analyzing large earthquakes affecting the areas remaining inside the sediments in West Anatolian Collapse System, this paper aims to reveal the fault systems constituting earthquakes with the information obtained from this study and to determine seismicity of the present residential areas right next to them. It is also aimed to anticipate the measures to be taken against possible earthquake hazards, to identify these areas posing a risk in terms of residential and urban planning and to determine at least partly the characteristics of the basin., {"references":["E. While discovering the seismicity of our country, knowing the array of earthquake occurrence which reflects the characteristic tectonic features of each region makes vital contributions to the earthquakes that have occurred and to the pursuit of the processes which might occur in the future. When considering the region’s seismic activity, the presence of active faults that create earthquake within the bay is obvious. Many active fault parts in the Gulf of Gokova region continues their seismic activity with the opening effect that is generally prevailing in Western Anatolia. The region has generally been continuing its seismic activity under the control of normal faults. Considering the marine studies that are made and marine continuity of the faults which are on land in addition to the seismological and tectonic studies, the determination of seismic hazard in the Gulf of Gokova and its surroundings is also important in terms of introducing the earthquake scenarios with minimized errors.
