LANDSCAPES - Abstract
The author reflects on how Ralph Waldo Emerson's poem, "Experience," resounds across Charles Wright's "Star Turn," with its question on "where do we find ourselves?" She points out that although "Star Turn" was written on a specific time and locale, it focuses on a secret landscape where one no longer knows where 'here' is. She adds that while Emerson refers to subterranean traffic with shovels and spades at the surface, Wright looks up to the skies and sees an eternal now or nunc stans.
