Background: Evidence-based guidelines advocate promoting sleep in intensive care unit (ICU) patients, yet many patients experience poor sleep quality. We sought to develop a collaborative evidence-based intervention with healthcare providers and assess whether evidence-based sleep interventions could improve sleep quality in awake adult ICU patients. Methods: We conducted a prospective, nonrandomized cluster control trial in two intensive care units (ICUs) at a tertiary general teaching hospital in China. Patients aged 18 years or older who stayed in the ICU for one night or more and were conscious were eligible for enrollment. We only blinded the patients, not the outcome assessors. On the basis of evidence-based practice and clinical reality, we developed intervention measures for the intervention group, which mainly included four aspects: reducing environmental noise in the ICU, adjusting nursing actions, modifying nighttime lighting, and other measures. The assessment tools used were wearable actigraphy sleep monitoring devices and the Richards-Campbell Sleep Questionnaire (RCSQ). The primary outcomes were patient sleep quality, including total sleep time, deep sleep time, light sleep time, rapid eye movement (REM) time, number of awakenings, overall sleep score, and patients' self-assessment of their sleep quality that night. The data collected were analyzed via SPSS and Mplus statistical software for between-group analysis, pre-post comparison, profile analysis, and calculation of the intervention effect size. Results: From September 1, 2023, to January 31, 2024, 713 patients underwent eligibility assessment, and ultimately 246 patients were included in the analysis, with 125 in the intervention group and 121 in the control group. Comparative analysis revealed no statistically significant differences in sleep quality between the two groups when the duration in the ICU = 1 night (P > 0.05), with a small intervention effect size. However, the intervention group had higher sleep quality scores (sleep monitoring wristband: 57.74 ± 22.55 > 57.72 ± 19.39; RCSQ questionnaire: 60.58 ± 22.14 > 57.61 ± 24.4) and total sleep time (440.42 ± 262.11 > 420.31 ± 236.89), a lower awakening frequency (3.98 ± 2.69 < 6.09 ± 4.66) and a lower awakening frequency (3.976 ± 2.693 < 6.09 ± 4.664) than did the control group. The sleep quality of patients who stayed in the ICU for > 1 night significantly improved in all the parameters except rapid eye movement time (min) according to the pre-post-test analyses (P < 0.05), with a medium to large intervention effect size and favorable intervention effects. Conclusion: Evidence-based interventions significantly improve sleep quality in ICU patients hospitalized for more than one day. However, our results do not support the improvement of sleep quality in patients admitted to the ICU for one day. Pressure injuries, also known as pressure ulcers or 'bed sores', are caused by prolonged pressure on the skin and underlying tissues and are common in healthcare settings. They result from a variety of factors including pressure, moisture and friction, with a higher risk among older adults, post‑surgical patients and those with limited mobility or long‑term conditions. These injuries can extend hospital stays and significantly impact patient recovery and mortality risk. Prevention includes regular repositioning, the use of pressure‑relieving devices, skin care and nutritional support. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence provides guidelines to mitigate these risks through systematic risk assessments and targeted interventions. Early detection and specialist care by a multidisciplinary team are crucial to improving patient outcomes. Background: Smoking is a significant global public health concern, presenting substantial risks to individuals' health. Smoking cessation is essential for improving patients' well-being, and nurses play a critical role in assisting patients to quit smoking. However, there is a lack of research on nurses' specialized roles in smoking cessation interventions for patients. Objective: To define the specific responsibilities of nurses in facilitating smoking cessation among patients, and provide guidance for future nursing interventions in smoking cessation. Methods: The scoping review process was conducted for Arksey and O'Malley's framework. Based on the three-step search strategy of Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI), a comprehensive search was performed across ten databases including PubMed, CINAHL, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane Library, OVID, PsycINFO, CNKI, Wan Fang Data Knowledge Service Platform, and VIP Database for Chinese Technical Periodicals, covering studies from the inception of the databases to February 2024. The inclusion and exclusion criteria were developed using the JBI (participants, content, and context) principle. Randomized controlled trials or quasi-experimental studies with nurse-led or involved smoking cessation interventions for patients were included. Data extraction was conducted independently by two reviewers. The findings were reported following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR). Results: In total, 53 studies were eligible for the final charting and synthesis. The analysis identified six key roles that nurses played in smoking cessation interventions: assessors, educators, practice facilitators, coordinating collaborators, organizers, and supervisors. Among these, the roles of assessors, educators, and practice facilitators were the most commonly reported. The motivation interview and 5A method were the predominant techniques employed for smoking cessation. Nurses primarily promoted smoking cessation through the distribution of pamphlets, face-to-face education, and the provision of smoking cessation guidance. The primary participants in these studies were patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Conclusions: Nurses play an indispensable role in smoking cessation interventions, occupying multiple critical roles. However, this review identified a gap in the pre-intervention training of nurses, indicating a need for enhanced training programs to better prepare nurses for effective smoking cessation interventions. Background: Implementing evidence that changes practice in emergency departments (EDs) is notoriously difficult due to well-established barriers including high levels of uncertainty arising from undifferentiated nature of ED patients, resource shortages, workload unpredictability, high staff turnover, and a constantly changing environment. We developed and implemented a behaviour-change informed strategy to mitigate these barriers for a clinical trial to implement the evidence-based emergency nursing framework HIRAID® (History including Infection risk, Red flags, Assessment, Interventions, Diagnostics, communication, and reassessment) to reduce clinical variation, and increase safety and quality of emergency nursing care. Aim: To evaluate the behaviour-change-informed HIRAID® implementation strategy on reach, effectiveness, adoption, quality (dose, fidelity) and maintenance (sustainability). Methods: An effectiveness-implementation hybrid design including a step–wedge cluster randomised control trial (SW-cRCT) was used to implement HIRAID® with 1300 + emergency nurses across 29 Australian rural, regional, and metropolitan EDs. Evaluation of our behaviour-change informed strategy was informed by the RE-AIM Scoring Instrument and measured using data from (i) a post HIRAID® implementation emergency nurse survey, (ii) HIRAID® Instructor surveys, and (iii) twelve-week and 6-month documentation audits. Quantitative data were analysed using descriptive statistics to determine the level of each component of RE-AIM achieved. Qualitative data were analysed using content analysis and used to understand the 'how' and 'why' of quantitative results. Results: HIRAID® was implemented in all 29 EDs, with 145 nurses undertaking instructor training and 1123 (82%) completing all four components of provider training at 12 weeks post-implementation. Modifications to the behaviour-change informed strategy were minimal. The strategy was largely used as intended with 100% dose and very high fidelity. We achieved extremely high individual sustainability (95% use of HIRAID® documentation templates) at 6 months and 100% setting sustainability at 3 years. Conclusion: The behaviour-change informed strategy for the emergency nursing framework HIRAID® in rural, regional, and metropolitan Australia was highly successful with extremely high reach and adoption, dose, fidelity, individual and setting sustainability across substantially variable clinical contexts. Background: Ventilator‐associated pneumonia (VAP) is the most common nosocomial infection in intensive care units (ICUs) and is a common cause of morbidity and mortality in intensive care patients. Previous studies show that insufficient knowledge and compliance barriers among nurses affect pneumonia. There have been no investigations into intensive care nurses' knowledge and compliance barriers to evidence‐based guidelines (EBGs) for VAP prevention in county‐level hospitals in China. Aim: To explore adult ICU nurses' knowledge and compliance barriers to EBGs for preventing VAP in county‐level hospitals in Hunan Province, China, examine the correlation between knowledge and compliance barriers, and analyse associated factors. Study Design: A cross‐sectional electronic survey was conducted to focus on nurses' knowledge of and compliance barriers to EBGs for preventing VAP. Results: A total of 386 valid questionnaires were collected, with a response rate of 97.47% (386/396 = 97.47%). The median scores for nurses' knowledge (out of 9) and compliance barriers (out of 8) to EBGs for preventing VAP were 7 (interquartile range: 5–8) and 3 (interquartile range: 2–4), respectively. Knowledge was negatively associated with compliance barriers (r = −0.437, p <.01). The results of the multiple linear regression analysis showed that hospital level, age, nurses' attendance at VAP training and years of experience in ICUs were related to the level of knowledge. Nurses' attendance at VAP training, age and years of experience in ICUs were associated with the level of compliance barriers. Conclusions: Intensive care nurses have satisfactory knowledge of EBGs for preventing VAP, but compliance barriers can be reduced. Better knowledge helps reduce the barriers to compliance among nurses. Relevance to Clinical Practice: Nurse managers and nurse educators are suggested to examine nurses' knowledge and compliance barriers to EBGs for preventing VAP, develop personalized training plans, promote continuous education based on the latest EBGs and raise the nurse–patient ratio reasonably. Aim: To map key characteristics and describe nurse led models of care for the treatment of persons with substance use disorders (SUDs) in the outpatient setting. Design: A scoping review. Methods: Conducted in accordance with the JBI methodology. The PRISMA‐ScR checklist was used. Data Sources: Pubmed, CINAHL Complete (EBSCOhost), Cochrane Library, APA PsycNet and Scopus were searched from 1999 to May 2022 and updated on 28 November 2023. A handsearch and a grey literature search was conducted. Results: Title and abstract screening was performed on 774 articles resulting in 88 articles for full text screening. Full text screening yielded 13 articles that met inclusion criteria. Conclusion: Existing nurse‐led models of care for SUDS are scarce and limited in scope, with the majority focused on treating opioid use disorder. Additional research is needed to develop, test, and implement efficacious nurse‐led models of care for the treatment and management of SUDs. Implications to Clinical Practice: Nurse led models of care have demonstrated their efficacy and quality in the management of other chronic diseases. As we move forward with innovative solutions for individuals with addiction, nurse led models of care can be a mechanism to deliver high quality, evidence‐based care for SUDs. Impact: SUDs are chronic diseases that impact individuals, families, and communities. SUDs require a biopsychosocial approach to treatment. Globally, nurses are well positioned to provide high quality care to mitigate the impact of SUDs. Objective: Wound care is an important component of nursing care, consuming a significant amount of working hours. Literature reports the existence of many barriers to evidence-based wound care and that nursing students have an increasing need for education in this field. While blended learning activities have shown some benefits in learning outcomes, dedicated wound care modules within baccalaureate nursing courses occur infrequently. The aim of this study was to facilitate an increase in confidence and knowledge of evidence-based wound care in third-year baccalaureate nursing students. Method: In this descriptive pre–post research design, a dedicated wound care module within a baccalaureate nursing course (using a constructivist learning approach) was offered to students in a university in Australia. Pre- and post-implementation surveys were completed (2018–2020). Due to a small number of matching participants, only descriptive statistics were calculated for all variables. Results: A total of 276 students were invited to respond to the survey and 41 responded initially, 35 responded post the wound care module, and 26 responded to the survey after six months. Positive outcomes were noted in increased levels of confidence in the student nurses' ability to assess, manage and prevent wounds; as well as to apply evidence-based practice and change management following the educational wound care module within the baccalaureate nursing course. Conclusion: Implementation of a dedicated wound care module within a baccalaureate nursing course in this sample of third-year students fostered a positive change in the knowledge of evidence-based wound management, assessment and prevention. Introduction: Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a common complication observed in aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) patients, which significantly increases the survival risks and reduces the patient's quality of life. However, preventive clinical measures for DVT have not been standardized; therefore, the scientific basis and effectiveness of these measures require further validation. Objective: This study aims to employ evidence-based practices to effectively prevent the occurrence of DVT in aSAH patients. Methods: This study was performed from June 2023 to March 2024 in the neurosurgical intensive care unit of a Grade III Class A general hospital in Nanchang, China. Furthermore, it was based on the healthcare model published by the Joanna Briggs Institute Library (JBI) in 2016, which emphasizes the use of previous evidence-based practices while considering appropriateness, feasibility, clinical significance, and validity. In this research study, 15 review indicators were developed, and baseline assessments on 47 nurses and 49 patients were conducted. Furthermore, factors promoting and obstructing implementation were analyzed, and targeted strategies to address these obstacles were formulated. Moreover, a follow-up audit was performed to identify best practices. Results: The baseline review results indicated that the incidence of DVT in aSAH patients was 16.3%. Furthermore, the implementation rates of six review indicators (1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 13) were all < 100.0%, with indicators 2, 5, and 8 indicating < 60.0% implementation rates. After the project implementation, a subsequent audit revealed that the best practice initiative yielded significant improvements compared to the baseline data. Moreover, the incidence of lower limb DVT in aSAH patients decreased from 16.3% before the evidence-based practices to 6.1% after their implementation. At the nursing level, the DVT prevention knowledge and practice questionnaire scores increased from 63.62 ± 11.48 to 74.77 ± 9.98 after the evidence-based practices (t = -5.03, p <.001). In addition, the implementation rates of the six review indicators improved to varying degrees after the implementation of evidence-based practices (p <.050). Conclusions: This project implemented evidence-based practices and indicated a reduced incidence of lower limb DVT in patients with aSAH. Furthermore, this study improved the knowledge, provided evidence for DVT prevention for the neurosurgical ICU nurses, promoted the implementation rate of review indicators for DVT prevention, standardized the behavior of neurosurgical ICU nurses for preventing DVT in aSAH patients, and ensured the safety of patients. Background: The Nipple-Areola Complex (NAC) tattooing can restore physical and mental integrity after breast cancer, but it is not always easily accessible for women. This paper aims to report on the development of a multidisciplinary nurse-led service for NAC tattooing for women who underwent breast cancer surgery with NAC removal to allow its thorough review and replication. Methods: The Medical Research Council's framework for developing complex healthcare interventions was followed. According to the results of a literature review, and the context analysis, an initial intervention was planned. The Template for Intervention Description and Replication checklist was chosen to ensure the quality and completeness of the intervention description. Results: The Breast Unit and the Research departments were engaged; three nurse-tattooists were selected; the informative material was created and shared with patients, families and local associations, involving them actively. Finally, the setting and the materials were defined. A monthly schedule of activities was set: patients with the indication for NAC tattooing were contacted by the nurse case manager. Each treatment involves 3–4 sessions, 30–40 days apart, in an ambulatory setting. It consists of NAC shaping and tattooing with a dermographer and sterile needles. Conclusion: Implementing freely and equally multidisciplinary nurse-led clinics might provide this treatment ensuring the patient's quality of life and nurse competence. ABSTRACT Aim Design Method Data Source Results Conclusion Implications for the Profession and Patient Care Impact State To systematically search, evaluate and synthesise the most robust evidence regarding pressure injury prevention in orthopaedic patients admitted to general wards.The present study provides an evidence‐based summary of the most robust findings, adhering to the evidence guidelines established by the Center for Evidence‐Based Nursing of Fudan University.According to the “6S” model, a systematic search was conducted for literature on pressure injury prevention among orthopaedic patients in general wards. The types of literature included guidelines, clinical decisions, expert Consensus, evidence summaries, etc. The search period covered the time from the beginning of the database up to December 2023.The following databases and resources were systematically searched: Up To Date, JBI, NICE, WOCN, NZWCS, etc.Fifteen literature sources were included, comprising one clinical decision, eight guidelines, one systematic review, and one expert Consensus. In these sources, a comprehensive collection of 34 pieces of best evidence was formed across six key topics: risk assessment, position management, skin care, device used for device‐related pressure injury, nutritional assessment, and support, as well as health education and training. Among the evidence gathered, a strong recommendation was made for 18 pieces, while the remaining 16 received a weak recommendation.This study provides a comprehensive synthesis of the most robust evidence on pressure injury prevention in orthopaedic patients, encompassing 34 pieces of evidence that can serve as valuable references for clinical practice. Before implementing this evidence, it is crucial to evaluate the specific contextual factors within different countries and medical institutions, as well as the facilitators and barriers influencing its application by healthcare professionals and patient's preferences. Background: Evidence-based practice is clinical decision-making using the best evidence available in the context of individual patients' preferences and clinical expertise. It is serving as a crucial instrument for the health science disciplines to minimize the theory-practice gap although the level of practice is unknown. Thus, this study aimed to assess nurses' implementation of evidence-based practice in nursing process and its associated factors in South Wollo Zone Public Hospitals. Methods: An explanatory sequential mixed method was employed from April 1 to May 29, 2023, among 419 nurses for the quantitative part and 15 others for the qualitative part. The data were collected using structured, pretested, self-administered questionnaires. Simple random and purposive sampling techniques were used to select participants for the quantitative and qualitative studies, respectively. The bivariable analysis was done primarily, and variables with a p-value < 0.25 were further examined using a multivariable logistic regression model to control con-founders. Then, variables having a p-value less than 0.05 with a 95% CI were used to declare significantly associated factors. The key informants were interviewed using pre-made interview guidelines, and then open code software was utilized to conduct a thematic analysis. Result: Nurses who had poor implementation of evidence-based practice in the nursing process were 228 [54.42%; 95% CI: (49.8–59.3)]. Similarly, the key informants concluded that the implementation of evidence-based practice in the nursing process was low. Participants who were 31– 40 years old [AOR = 0.61, 95% CI: (0.38–0.99)], 41–50 years [AOR = 0.32, 95% CI: (0.15–0.65)], working at general hospitals [AOR = 3.37, 95% CI: (1.39–8.18)] and comprehensive specialized hospitals [AOR = 7.29, 95% CI: (3.06 − 17.31)], lack of training about evidence-based practice (AOR = 2.50, 95% CI: (1.36–4.56)], and lack of internet access [AOR = 2.46, 95% CI: (1.43–4.23)] were factors associated with poor levels of nurses' implementation of evidence-based practice in the nursing process. The absence of computers, libraries, and updated guidelines were other factors identified on the quality analysis. Conclusion: Nurses' implementation of evidence-based practice in the nursing process was low. Age, working in general hospitals, and comprehensive and specialized hospitals, lack of training, and internet access were factors that had significant associations. Hence, hospital managers should give an attention to internet access and training about utilization of evidence-based practice in nursing process, particularly for those aged above thirty years old. Background: Nursing aims to rely on the best evidence, yet nurses frequently struggle with statistics, impeding the integration of research into practice. The misuse of statistical significance and p values is a pervasive issue, widely debated across disciplines but often overlooked in nursing. Objective: This study seeks to elucidate key arguments surrounding the misuse of p values, assess their relevance to nursing, and propose recommendations for improvement. Approach: Conducting a critical literature review on the interpretation and reporting of statistical significance and its practical implications among nurses, nursing students, and scholars. Results: The literature reveals widespread misunderstandings of probability concepts in classical statistics, leading to the misuse of p values. Some scholars propose abandoning p values altogether due to these challenges. Rather than dismissing p values, this article provides insights into their historical context and proper application. Recommendations are offered for accurately interpreting results and integrating supplementary metrics. Fostering statistical competencies already at the undergraduate level can enhance statistical literacy and alleviate statistics anxiety among nursing students, a prevalent issue. Early exposure to statistical methods in nursing education empowers nurses to actively engage in research. Additional recommendations include preregistering analysis plans to mitigate publication bias and exploring alternative approaches such as Bayesian methods. Conclusions: While p values serve as a valuable tool for preliminary assessment against randomness in nursing research, their widespread misunderstanding necessitates multiple measures for accurate interpretation and understanding of statistical significance. ABSTRACT Objective Methods Results Conclusion This study aims to evaluate the predictive performance and methodological quality of post‐stroke readmission prediction models, identify key predictors associated with readmission, and provide guidance for selecting appropriate risk assessment tools.A comprehensive literature search was conducted from inception to February 1, 2024. Two independent researchers screened the literature and extracted relevant data using the CHARMS checklist.Eleven studies and 16 prediction models were included, with sample sizes ranging from 108 to 803,124 cases and outcome event incidences between 5.2% and 50.0%. The four most frequently included predictors in the models were length of stay, hypertension, age, and functional disability. Twelve models reported an area under the curve (AUC) ranging from 0.520 to 0.940, and five models provided calibration metrics. Only one model included both internal and external validation, while six models had internal validation. Eleven studies were found to have a high risk of bias (ROB), predominantly in the area of data analysis.This systematic review included 16 readmission prediction models for stroke, which generally exhibited good predictive performance and can effectively identify high‐risk patients likely to be readmitted. However, the generalizability of these models remains uncertain due to methodological limitations. Rather than developing new readmission prediction models for stroke, the focus should shift toward external validation and the iterative adaptation of existing models. Background and Objectives: Previous studies have shown that improving quality management in the central sterile supply department (CSSD) is an effective measure to control and decrease hospital-acquired infections. This study aimed to establish nursing-sensitive quality indicators for CSSD nursing in China. Methods: We drafted nursingsensitive quality indicators on the basis of the Structure-Process-Outcome model, and then conducted 2 rounds of consultation with experts using a modified Delphi method to determine the indicators and scientific methods of measurement. Results: We identified five CSSD nursing-sensitive quality indicators. Recovery rates of the 2 rounds of valid questionnaires were 100%. Expert authority coefficients were 0.810 and 0.902, respectively. Kendall's coefficients of concordance were 0.168 and 0.210, respectively (P< .05). Aims: Establishing a nomogram to estimate the probability of oral mucosal membrane pressure injury of endotracheal tube‐intubated hospitalized patients in intensive care unit. Design: Multicentre prospective cohort study. Methods: Using Lasso regression and COX regression, variable selection was performed on demographic, clinical and laboratory data of 1037 ICU endotracheal tube‐intubated hospitalized patients from West China Hospital, to construct a nomogram. External validation was conducted on 484 ICU endotracheal tube‐intubated patients from People's Hospital of Zhongjiang County. Results: Among 38 potential predictors, five variables emerged as independent predictors, integrated into the nomogram: administration of antibiotics, nutritional therapy duration, agitation, hypotension and albumin levels. Conclusions: We established a nomogram based on the hospital characteristics of ICU endotracheal tube‐intubated patients, aiding in the prediction of the occurrence of oral mucosal membrane pressure injury. Reporting Method: The study followed TRIPOD guidelines. Relevance to Clinical Practice: The nomogram we developed can assist clinical worker in better identifying at‐risk patients and risk factors. Aim: This study assessed the effects of hand‐bathing on sympathetic nervous activity exacerbated by psychological stress. Participants immersed one hand in warm water for 2 min while exposed to noise, and changes in blood flow and skin temperature of the non‐immersed hand were observed. Methods: Twenty‐nine healthy university students aged 20 years or older were randomly assigned to either the hand‐bathing group (n = 14) or the control group (n = 15). After a brief rest in a quiet environment, participants were exposed to noise for 6 min. Those in the hand‐bathing group submerged their left hand in a 40°C thermostatic bath for 2 min, starting 2 min into the noise exposure. The tympanic temperature, blood flow, and skin temperature of the non‐immersed hand were continuously measured, along with blood pressure and subjective evaluations before and after the noise exposure. Results: Both groups experienced a decrease in fingertip skin temperature at the start of the noise exposure, persisting longer in the control group. Conversely, the hand‐bathing group showed increased fingertip skin temperature after 150 s, significantly higher after the noise exposure than the control group (p =.04). Participants in the hand‐bathing group reported significantly increased overall body warmth, thermal comfort, and relaxation during hand‐bathing (p =.007, p =.01, p <.001). Conclusions: The 2‐min hand‐bathing intervention reversed the pronounced vasoconstrictive response induced by noise exposure and elicited heightened sensations of overall body warmth, thermal comfort, and relaxation. Background: From 2018 to 2022, mass shooting incidents in the United States increased by 67.7%. Health care–associated shootings also increased. The role of acute and critical care nurses during shootings is not well defined in the literature. Objective: To identify roles of acute and critical care nurses during mass shooting incidents and provide best-practice recommendations for shooting incidents within a hospital. Methods: The methods of Whittemore, Knafl, and Torraco informed this integrative review. Ovid MEDLINE, CINAHL, and Scopus databases were searched for publications related to acute and critical care nurses, mass shooting incidents, and hospital setting. Results: Of 13 589 articles retrieved, 27 were included; 63% were narrative reviews. The highest level of evidence was an expert consensus panel; next highest was a quasi-experimental study that simulated experiences to test mass casualty incident response. Third highest was a qualitative study that analyzed nurses' experiences during a mass casualty experience. Discussion: The evidence revealed 3 themes: prevention and preparedness, response to incident, and recovery phase. Education and training for acute and critical care nurses about mass shooting incidents are central to defining nurses' roles and best practices for these incidents. Nurses must know Stop the Bleed techniques and run-hide-fight protocols. Additionally, acute and critical care nurses need representation on hospital committees to develop and implement policies and procedures. Conclusions: Hospitals are not immune to mass shooting incidents. The Competencies and Recommendations for Educating undergraduate Nursing Students (CARES) was originally designed for nursing students' palliative and end-of-life care education. The competencies were later revised to align with the 2021 American Association of Colleges of Nursing Essentials core competencies for baccalaureate nursing education. This project aimed to (1) review the courses in an accelerated baccalaureate nursing program for alignment with CARES, (2) determine any gaps, and (3) make program recommendations. The CARES competencies and Essentials were mapped according to the nursing program's 12 core curriculum courses and evaluated. Three CARES competencies were not met, and 12 were partially met. Areas of improvement were identified across the curriculum. Results of the mapping included palliative concepts needing earlier program introduction, reflective journaling was recommended for clinical practice courses, and incorporation of palliative care simulations was proposed to bridge the gaps. Advance care planning is a process in which capable adults communicate their preferences for medical care in case of incapacitation. Regardless of health status, most adults are interested in advance care planning conversations and prefer providers to initiate these discussions. Primary care nurse practitioners are ideally positioned to lead these conversations but lack knowledge, confidence, and communication skills to do so. This project aimed to develop, implement, and evaluate an educational program for primary care nurse practitioners regarding leading advance care planning conversations with healthy adults. This evidence-based practice project used the Advance Care Planning Self- Efficacy Scale to measure primary care nurse practitioners' self-efficacy after completing a complex educational program. The educational program was developed based on a nationally recognized program incorporating didactic, observational, and role-play learning. The findings of this project indicated that providing complex education was an effective intervention immediately and after 3 months (P = .018 and P = .023, respectively). The results indicate that educating nurse practitioners is an effective intervention for increasing their self-efficacy in leading advance care planning conversations with healthy adults over 3 months, recommending additional intervention at least earlier than 6 months. Background: Diarrhea during enteral nutrition may induce various complications and increase the nursing workload. Local Problem: The diarrhea rate in our intensive care units (ICUs) was 37.14% from May to July 2021. Nurses reported a moderate to heavy burden regarding care for those with diarrhea. Methods: A pre-post implementation design was used to evaluate the impact of evidence-based interventions for diarrhea screening and prevention. Interventions: A diarrhea risk screening tool and countermeasures were developed through an extensive literature review. Tools were integrated into the electronic health record system. Results: The rate of diarrhea decreased from 37.14% to 17.33% (P = .000). Nurse's compliance with practice standards increased for diarrhea assessment, risk factor screening, agent choice, and countermeasures provision (P < .05). Background: Evidence-based practice (EBP) is a major concept threaded throughout nursing education, yet competencies are not clearly identified in The Essentials. Purpose: Nurse leaders' EBP competency expectations for professional practice were explored to inform competency-based education for students and practicing nurses. A secondary aim explored potential effects of misinformation on EBP. Methods: Descriptive qualitative inquiry was performed with a focus group of 6 clinical nurse leaders. Results: EBP expectations were identified, discriminating between novice entry level and advanced-level nurses. Participants emphasized asking questions, linking evidence to practice, and acknowledging that evidence changes over time. All advanced-level nurses were expected to apply, lead, and teach EBP. Post pandemic, nurses need to reclaim evidence-based practices, critically appraise evidence, and educate patients and families to address misinformation. The burden of childhood visual impairment and disparities in access to pediatric vision care remain pressing issues in the United States. School-based vision programs (SBVPs) serve as one approach to advancing health equity. Operating at the intersection of schools and healthcare, SBVPs can increase access to pediatric vision services, improve academic performance, and facilitate referrals to community vision care providers. To maximize their impact, SBVPs must tailor their services to the individual needs and resources of local school communities. School nurses, who have strong ties to school health care services and the school community, are trusted partners in building SBVPs. School nurses represent cost-effective investments in students' health and educational success. Alternative high schools (AHSs) serve an understudied population of youth who are at risk for school dropout and face numerous social inequities, heightening their risk for poor health outcomes. In this two-phase explanatory sequential mixed methods study, we examined school nurse staffing in Texas AHSs. Findings suggest Texas AHSs face understaffing for familiar reasons common across districts (e.g., lack of funding), but also reveal potential deeper inequities. Quantitative findings indicate 71% of Texas AHSs have some form of nursing support, most often an on-call or part-time nurse. Qualitative findings support and enrich this finding with insights into the negative consequences of not having a full-time nurse, indiscriminate approaches to staffing AHSs, and how AHSs can be the only school in the district without a full-time nurse. The aims of the current review were to identify the current supportive care needs of stroke patients, categorize those needs according to the supportive care needs framework (SCNF), and to form a SCNF of stroke patients. Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA‐ScR) and Guidance for conducting systematic scoping reviews were followed. Ten databases were searched, including six English databases: PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cumulative Index to Nursing Allied Health Literature, Cochrane Library, and PsycINFO, and four Chinese databases: China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wan Fang, China Biology Medicine Database and Chongqing VIP. The search period covers from the establishment of the database to December 31, 2022. Three thousand twenty‐nine hits were screened resulting in the inclusion of 34 articles in the final literature review. The greatest need identified by stroke patients was information, followed by psychological, social, rehabilitation, practical, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. The supportive care needs of stroke patients were identified. A preliminary SCNF of stroke patients was developed according to Fitch's SCNF. The multitude of existing needs of stroke patients need to be addressed. This review may represent the first time that SCNF for stroke patients has been developed. This work may lay the foundation for future research on the supportive care needs of stroke patients and provide a framework for the implementation of supportive care in clinical stroke units. Background: Sustainability represents an increasingly vital yet inconsistently implemented topic in nursing education. Formal concept analysis can promote unified conceptualisation to inform sustainability integration in nursing curriculums. Objective: Analyse the concept of 'nursing education for sustainable development' using the Walker and Avant framework to clarify meaning and application in nursing programmes. Method: The literature was systematically searched for attributes, antecedents and consequences used to formulate a concept definition, and compared to existing conceptualisations. Results: Core concept attributes are interconnectedness of human/ecological health, sustainability‐focused curriculums, competency cultivation and social justice orientations. Antecedents include recognising ecological determinants of health and committed nursing faculty. Consequences encompass the preparation of sustainability‐competent nurses and elevated nursing contributions to sustainable health systems. Conclusion: The concept analysis provides an original synthesised perspective advancing coherence and applicability to guide sustainability education in nursing programmes through a translational framework for competency, curriculum design and content delivery approaches. A rapid expansion of the computer technology industry, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence, has ignited a global concern that warrants our immediate action. As nurses, our professional values frameworks compel us to protect public health and address national and global health issues. When industry activities adversely affect the social wellbeing of civil society and social institutions, it is important to evaluate them against their industry's 'social license to operate,' which is a measure of public trust, credibility, and the legitimacy of their industrial and corporate citizenship status. The central question is, do computer technology companies continue to have a social license to operate in civil society? Nurses are encouraged to evaluate the computer technology industry's recent 'generative artificial intelligence' chatbot activities against its tacit undertaking to be good corporate citizens in return for social acceptance of their operations and behaviour. An evidence-based overview of chatbot impacts on societies, environmental sustainability and human rights provide a basis for evaluation. Basic computer technology terminology and relevant concepts are explained. This article is a direct call to action for clinical nurses and those involved in research, education, management, and policy. We have a duty to critically assess the claims made by chatbot technology vendors in both practice and social contexts. If these vendors integrate chatbot technologies with existing machine learning used in nursing and healthcare technologies it could result in detrimental effects beyond user control. By influencing decisions on technology adoption, we can ensure the implementation of safeguards, protect patient safety and social well-being, and uphold the integrity of nursing values. A closing discussion of impacts of computer industry trust deficits on healthcare and research reflects the author's concerns and conclusions about the central question. Purpose: To retrieve, evaluate, and summarize the best available evidence regarding the safe use of pneumatic tourniquet in patients undergoing Limb surgery, providing guidance for preoperative assessment, operation methods and precautions, complication prevention and treatment in clinical practice. Methods: Using the PIPOST tool, we formulated an evidence-based question, conducted searches in relevant Chinese and international databases and websites for clinical decisions, guidelines, evidence summaries, systematic reviews, and expert consensus on the use of limb surgical tourniquets. The search was limited to literature published until September 30, 2023. Quality assessment and evidence extraction were performed on eligible documents. Results: This study included a total of 13 articles, including 2 clinical decision-making articles, 3 guidelines, 5 expert consensus articles, 1 standard and 2 systematic reviews. A total of 34 best pieces of evidence recommendations were summarized across 10 aspects, including indications and contraindications for the use of pneumatic tourniquets, preoperative evaluation of operators, selection and placement of tourniquet cuffs, tourniquet inflation, monitoring during inflation, tourniquet deflation, common complications and prevention, equipment safety, documentation, and training and education. Conclusion: The best evidence summarized in this study can provide reference for clinical medical staff to safely use pneumatic tourniquets, but in clinical practice, targeted selection and application of evidence should be combined with specific situations to improve the safety and hemostatic effect of pneumatic tourniquet use. Chronic wounds are a growing concern due to aging populations, sedentary lifestyles and increasing rates of obesity and chronic diseases. The impact of such wounds is felt worldwide, posing a considerable clinical, environmental and socioeconomic challenge and impacting the quality of life. The increasing complexity of care requires a holistic approach, along with extensive knowledge and skills. The challenge experienced by health‐care professionals is particularly significant for newly graduate nurses, who face a gap between theory and practice. Digital tools, such as mobile applications, can support wound care by facilitating more precise assessments, early treatment, complication prevention and better outcomes. They also aid in clinical decision‐making and improve healthcare delivery in remote areas. Several mobile applications have emerged to enhance wound care. However, there are no applications dedicated to newly graduate nurses. The aim of this study was to co‐create and evaluate an algorithm for the development of a wound care mobile application supporting clinical decisions for new graduate nurses. The development of this mobile application is envisioned to improve knowledge application and facilitate evidence‐based practice. This study is part of a multiphase project that adopted a pragmatic epistemological approach, using the 'Knowledge‐to‐Action' conceptual model and Duchscher's Stages of Transition Theory. Following a scoping review, an expert consensus, and stakeholder meetings, this study was pursued through a sequential exploratory mixed methods design carried out in two phases. In the initial phase, 21 participants engaged in semi‐structured focus groups to explore their needs regarding clinical decision support in wound care, explore their perceptions of the future mobile application's content and identify and categorize essential components. Through descriptive analysis, five overarching themes emerged, serving as guiding principles for conceptual data model development and refinement. These findings confirmed the significance of integrating a comprehensive glossary complemented by photos, ensuring compatibility between the mobile application and existing documentation systems, and providing quick access to information to avoid burdening work routines. Subsequently, the algorithm was created from the qualitative data collected. The second phase involved presenting an online SurveyMonkey® questionnaire to 34 participants who were not part of the initial phase to quantitatively measure the usability of this algorithm among future users. This phase revealed very positive feedback regarding the usability [score of 6.33 (±0.19) on a scale of 1–7], which reinforces its quality. Aims: The main goal of this research is to identify, through expert consensus, the key factors that determine the span of control (SOC) of first‐line nurse managers (FLNMs) in the Spanish healthcare system. Background: The SOC is a management concept which has usually been defined as the number of subordinates reporting to a superior. In nursing, however, it is much more complex. This complexity is shaped by various factors related to patients, healthcare professionals and organisational structures. Nursing leaders must thoroughly consider these factors and their determinants, which necessitate a comprehensive assessment. Given the significant impact an inadequate SOC can have on patients, professionals and the organisation, it would be beneficial to address this issue. In nursing, studies on this subject are practically nonexistent and focus solely on the number of subordinates, highlighting the need for research in this area. Methods: Between September and December 2022, a Delphi study was conducted. Forty‐five experts were invited to participate. The study involved nurse administrators, FLNMs, university professors, renowned researchers and other non–health professionals related to health management. The participants completed an online survey over three phases. Factor analysis was performed on the items for which consensus was reached. The jamovi software version 2.3.15 was used for data analysis. Results: A total of 35 experts participated in at least one of the three phases of the Delphi study. Following a comprehensive analysis of the identified factors, a consensus was reached on 31 of them. These were subsequently grouped into four categories: unit category (16 items, including complexity, resource management, conflicts and protocolisation and monitoring of activities), professional category (five items: number of staff, staffing stability and skill level and diversity of staff), FLNM category (four items: autonomy, experience and education and leadership style) and organisation category (six items: digitisation and information systems, education, research and implementation evidence‐based practice and performing guards). Conclusions: Our research shows a high degree of consensus amongst participants in identifying the determinants and degree of relevance of SOC‐related aspects. Although SOC is not currently assessed, all stakeholders agree that there are a large number of variables that should be considered when appointing a FLNM. Implications for Nurse Managers: Nursing managers can better assess the health of the organisation and improve performance by understanding the factors that influence the SOC of FLNMs. Due to the lack of previous studies, understanding these factors will allow the development of methods and tools tailored to the characteristics of different health systems. Background: Implementation strategies targeting individual healthcare professionals and teams, such as audit and feedback, educational meetings, opinion leaders, and reminders, have demonstrated potential in promoting evidence-based nursing practice. This systematic review examined the effects of the 19 Cochrane Effective Practice and Organization Care (EPOC) healthcare professional-level implementation strategies on nursing practice and patient outcomes. Methods: A systematic review was conducted following the Cochrane Handbook, with six databases searched up to February 2023 for randomized studies and non-randomized controlled studies evaluating the effects of EPOC implementation strategies on nursing practice. Study selection and data extraction were performed in Covidence. Random-effects meta-analyses were conducted in RevMan, while studies not eligible for meta-analysis were synthesized narratively based on the direction of effects. The quality of evidence was assessed using GRADE. Results: Out of 21,571 unique records, 204 studies (152 randomized, 52 controlled, non-randomized) enrolling 36,544 nurses and 340,320 patients were included. Common strategies (> 10% of studies) were educational meetings, educational materials, guidelines, reminders, audit and feedback, tailored interventions, educational outreach, and opinion leaders. Implementation strategies as a whole improved clinical practice outcomes compared to no active intervention, despite high heterogeneity. Group and individual education, patient-mediated interventions, reminders, tailored interventions and opinion leaders had statistically significant effects on clinical practice outcomes. Individual education improved nurses' attitude, knowledge, perceived control, and skills, while group education also influenced perceived social norms. Although meta-analyses indicate a small, non-statistically significant effect of multifaceted versus single strategies on clinical practice, the narrative synthesis of non-meta-analyzed studies shows favorable outcomes in all studies comparing multifaceted versus single strategies. Group and individual education, as well as tailored interventions, had statistically significant effects on patient outcomes. Conclusions: Multiple types of implementation strategies may enhance evidence-based nursing practice, though effects vary due to strategy complexity, contextual factors, and variability in outcome measurement. Some evidence suggests that multifaceted strategies are more effective than single component strategies. Effects on patient outcomes are modest. Healthcare organizations and implementation practitioners may consider employing multifaceted, tailored strategies to address local barriers, expand the use of underutilized strategies, and assess the long-term impact of strategies on nursing practice and patient outcomes. Background: Health service development aims to close the gap between evidence and practice by adopting and appropriately utilizing the latest findings. To address this gap, dissemination and implementation research has been promoted and developed. Despite promoting evidence-based programs over the years, public health nurses have had few training opportunities in evidence-based public health. This study evaluated the effectiveness of a web-based training in building the basic program implementation capacity of public health nurses with two to five years of experience. Methods: We developed a simulation-powered web-based training according to an Implementation Degree Assessment Sheet for health programs. This was a randomized, single-blind, parallel-group trial. The primary outcome, the result of implementation capacity for public health nurses, was assessed by the total score of the Implementation Degree Assessment Sheet, and scores for its five domains. The secondary outcome was evaluated by the level of understanding. The primary outcome was analyzed utilizing the t-test and analysis of covariance, whereas the secondary outcome was assessed utilizing the U-test and Quade's analysis of covariance. Data were collected directly before intervention (T1: baseline), immediately post-intervention (T2), and four weeks post-intervention (T3: endpoint). Results: The 197 participants were randomly allocated to either the intervention group (n = 98) or the control group (n = 99). A full analysis set of 152 samples and a per-protocol set of 104 samples were analyzed. The intervention group exhibited a significantly higher total score and five domain-wise scores at the endpoint compared with the control group. The disparity between the endpoint and baseline scores was significantly larger for the intervention group for all scores. The level of understanding was significantly higher in the intervention group than in the control group at T2 and T3. The effect size of the total score was higher in the full analysis set (Cohen's d = 0.5) than in the per-protocol set (d = 0.48). Conclusions: This web-based training was effective in building the program implementation capacity of participants four weeks post-intervention. Aim: To construct evidence-based sensitive quality indicators for patients' rapid rehabilitation care after combined pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) and to provide a reference for clinical nursing professionals to scientifically evaluate the quality of patients' rehabilitation post-PD. Background: Since PD is associated with higher surgical risk and anastomotic complications, it leads to higher complication rates and longer postoperative recovery cycles. This reiterates the need for rapid recovery of patients after PD; however, the evaluation of sensitive nursing care indicators regarding rapid recovery post-PD has not yet been established to date. Methods: Based on the Donabedian structure-process-result theory model, we used available literature, semi-structured interviews, the Delphi method, and hierarchical analysis to establish a sensitive indicator system for patients' rapid rehabilitation after PD and evaluate the importance of such indicators. Results: There were two rounds of expert correspondence, and the effective recovery rate of the questionnaires of these rounds was 100%. The expert authority coefficients, as well as the Kendall coordination coefficients of the expert opinions, were 0.859 and 0.872 as well as 0.423 and 0.431, with statistically significant differences (p < 0.05), respectively. Consequently, we developed a sensitive quality index system for patients' rapid rehabilitation care after combined PD, including 3 first-level, 12 s-level, and 23 third-level indexes, respectively. Conclusion: The constructed sensitive quality index system developed for patients' rapid rehabilitation nursing care after combined PD is standardized, practical, and aligned with the specialty characteristics. Purpose: This study aims to summarize the latest and best evidence on central venous access device-related thrombosis (CRT) in hospitalized children, which provides theoretical support for standardizing the preventive care practice of CRT in hospitalized children. Methods: Relevant guidelines, systematic reviews and expert consensuses were reviewed through ten guideline websites, six professional association websites and seven databases. The literature evaluation was conducted, and the best evidence from qualified studies was extracted and summarized. Furthermore, the best evidence was summarized through expert consultation and localized for the preventive care practice of CRT in hospitalized children in China. Results: A total of 14 topics and 68 best evidence were collected, including personnel qualification and quality management, pediatric patient selection, risk assessment, central venous access device (CVAD) selection and use, tip position, catheter maintenance, basic prevention, drug prevention, imaging examination, health education, nursing records, follow-up, CVAD removal and others. Conclusion: In this study, the best evidence based on evidence-based nursing was summarized, and expert consultation was adopted to localize the best evidence collected. It is of great significance to standardize the clinical practice of pediatric nurses and ensure the effectiveness of CRT preventive care for hospitalized children, thus guaranteeing the safety of hospitalized children with CVAD catheterization. Background: Preoperative visit-care for transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) plays a crucial role in improving the quality of care and patient safety. However, preoperative care for TAVR patients is still in its early stages in China, with the care often being experience-based. The application of relevant evidence in nursing practice is necessary. Little is known regarding the facilitators and barriers to apply and compliance to the evidences about preoperative visit-care for TAVR in nursing. Methods: The Nurse's Compliance Checklist was used to investigate the evidence-based compliance of nurses (n = 21) who worked in the TAVR team in the evidence-based implementation setting. Meanwhile, an Evidence-Based Practice Beliefs Scale, and Influencing Factors Checklist were used to investigate all nurses (n = 66) who work in the same setting. Stakeholders (Middle and senior-level nursing administrators, frontline clinical nurses, and patients) interview was carried out to further disclose the barriers and facilitators in the process of evidence-based practice. Results: The results of this study showed that only 1 evidence implemented fully (100%) by nurses, 3 evidences with 0% implementation rate, and implementation rate of the other evidences were 9.5∼71.4%. The overall score of nurses' evidence-based nursing belief level was (3.52 ± 0.82). Three domains of barriers were identified: the Context Domain included lack of nursing procedures, inadequate health education materials, insufficient training; the Practitioner Domain included insufficient attention, lack of relevant knowledge, high work pressure and uncertainty of expected results, and Patient Domain included lack of relational knowledge. Facilitating factors included leadership support, nurse' high evidence-based nursing belief, high executive ability and enthusiasm for learning. Conclusion: The study indicated that the nurses' compliance of evidence-based practice in preoperative visit-care for TAVR was in lower level. There were some factors influencing the application of the evidences. The study revealed potential modifiable barriers to the successful implementation of evidence-based preoperative visit-care, including a lack of preoperative visit- care routine, related knowledge and training. Aim: To explore nurses' perceptions of evidence-based nursing courses for undergraduates through academic-practice partnerships. Design: A deductive thematic analysis based on the practice-academic logic model. Methods: Fifteen academic and clinical nurses were interviewed between November and December 2023, either online or through face-to-face meetings. Each interview lasted 20–30 min. The interview outline was constructed based on the practice-academic partnership logic model, which was followed during the process of recorded, analyzed, and checked. Results: Themes identified include inputs (e.g., stakeholder commitment), activities (e.g., communication), outputs (e.g., nursing projects), and outcomes (e.g., improved competence). These themes highlight the various aspects and outcomes of academic-practice partnerships in evidence-based nursing courses. Background: Communication skills (CSs) and evidence-based practice (EBP) are key foundations for offering personalized and quality nursing care. CS that results in open communication is fundamental for applying EBP. Objectives: The objective of the study was to assess the relationship between the acquisition of EBP competencies and learning CS after taking an EBP course in the nursing degree. Methods: Pre-test-post-test quasi-experimental study without a control group. The study population comprised fourth-year undergraduate nursing students. Before and after an EBP course, students completed a questionnaire on CS competence (HP-CSS) and EBP competence (EBP-COQ). The EBP course lasts for 15 weeks, with 150 h of work for the student. Out of these 150 h, 60 are conducted in person, while the remaining 90 h are for independent or group work, utilizing the flipped classroom methodology. Bivariate, correlational, pairwise Student's t-test, and linear regression multivariate analyses were performed. Results: The sample was composed of 153 students. After completing the EBP course, there was a statistically significant improvement in informative communication (p = 0.046) and assertiveness (p = 0.018). However, there were no observed changes in empathy, respect, and the total score of the CS competence. The results from the multivariate analysis showed that the dimensions of attitude towards EBP and EBP knowledge had a positive relation to three of the four dimensions of the CS and overall competence. Regarding the students' variables and characteristics, admission through special programs for athletes and older students (p < 0.001) and being female (p = 0.004) were positively statistically associated with empathy. Conclusions: EBP training positively affects the development of CS in nursing students, as shown by significant improvements in the total scores of the CS and the dimensions of informative communication and assertiveness after the intervention. For several years, the global scientific community has accepted and recognized the importance of evidence-based practice for nursing science. The main factor for the implementation of evidence-based practice is the competence of undergraduate nursing students towards evidence-based practice, so that they as active nurses are ready for its application in their clinical practice, in order to provide better care for their patients. The aim of the present study is to examine the level of evidence-based practice competency evaluated with the self-reported Evidence-Based Practice Competence Questionnaire. It is important to mention that such a study has not been conducted on nursing students in Greece, but only on registered nurses. A quantitative study based on cross-sectional design was conducted from February to June 2022 in a convenience sample of Greek undergraduate nursing students. The SPSS 26.0 program was used to perform descriptive, bivariate, and multivariate analyses. A total of 175 undergraduate students participated at the Hellenic Mediterranean University Department of Nursing (Greece), specifically from the 2nd and 3rd academic years. The mean score of the Evidence-Based Practice Competence Questionnaire for nursing undergraduate students was 3.03 ± 0.26, indicating moderate evidence-based practice. Among the Evidence-Based Practice Competence Questionnaire dimensions, mean scores of 3.03 ± 0.32 for attitude toward evidence-based practice, 3.01 ± 0.49 for skills in evidence-based practice, and 3.03 ± 0.49 for knowledge in evidence-based practice were obtained. Significant differences among participants' mean Evidence-Based Practice Competence Questionnaire scores regarding gender (p = 0.766), age (p = 0.400), academic year (p = 0.153), and training in the field of research methodology (p = 0.538) were not found. It appears that the level of readiness towards evidence-based practice is mediocre among undergraduate nursing students at a university in Greece. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out new studies in the future, so that there is a correct approach of all the elements that contribute to the readiness of nursing undergraduate students regarding evidence-based practice. Objectives: To synthesise and map the evidence of a theory- and evidence-based nursing intervention for the prevention of ICU-acquired weakness and evaluate its effectiveness in terms of the incidence of ICU-acquired weakness, incidence of delirium, and length of hospital stay. Methods: We searched PubMed, CINAHL, MEDLINE, Academic Search Complete, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science and the Cochrane Library from database inception to November 2023. The eligible studies focused on critically ill patients in the intensive care unit, used a theory- and evidence-based nursing intervention, and reported the incidence of ICU-acquired weakness and/or used the Medical Research Council Scale. The methodological quality of the included studies was critically appraised by two authors using the appropriate Joanna Briggs Institute appraisal tool for randomised controlled trials, quasi-experimental studies, and cohort studies. Additionally, the weighted kappa coefficient was used to assess inter-rater agreement of the quality assessment. Data were reported using a narrative synthesis. This systematic review was registered by the International Prospective Register of Systematic Review (PROSPERO; CRD42023477011). Results: A total of 5162 studies were initially retrieved, and 9 studies were eventually included after screening. This systematic review revealed that preventive nursing interventions for ICU-acquired weakness mainly include (a) physiotherapy, including neuromuscular electrical stimulation and early rehabilitation, and (b) nutritional support. In addition, (c) airway management, (d) sedation and analgesia management, (e) complication prevention (delirium, stress injury and deep vein thrombosis prevention), and (f) psychological care were also provided. The theories are dominated by goal-oriented theories, and the evidence is mainly the ABCDE bundle in the included studies. The results show that theory- or evidence-based nursing interventions are effective in reducing the incidence of ICU-acquired weakness (or improving the Medical Research Council Scale scores), decreasing the incidence of delirium, shortening the length of hospital stay, and improving patients' self-care and quality of life. Conclusion: Theory- and evidence-based nursing interventions have good results in preventing ICU-acquired weakness in critically ill patients. Current nursing interventions favour a combination of multiple interventions rather than just a single intervention. Therefore, preventive measures for ICU-acquired weakness should be viewed as complex interventions and should be based on theory or evidence. This systematic review is based on a small number of trials. Thus, more high-quality randomised controlled trials are needed to draw definitive conclusions about the impact of theory- and evidence-based nursing interventions on the prevention of ICU-acquired weakness. Background: Improving the uptake of relevant and reliable research is an important priority in long-term care to achieve sustainable and high-quality services for the increasingly older population. Aim: The purpose was to assess the effectiveness of a tailored, adaptive and a multifaceted KT capacity program, relative to usual practice, on the implementation of National Early Warning Score 2 (NEWS2). Methods: This study was carried out as a pragmatic cluster-randomized controlled trial. The capacity program consisted of an educational part to address implementation capacity gaps and a facilitation-upon-implementation part to address a relevant knowledge gap in nursing homes. A collective decision was made to address the challenge of early detection of clinical deterioration among nursing home residents, by implementing the (NEWS2) as clinical innovation. Public nursing homes in a Norwegian municipality (n = 21) with a total of 1 466 beds were eligible for inclusion. The study-period spanned over a 22-month period, including a 12-month follow-up. Data was extracted from the Electronic Patient Journal system and analyzed using multilevel growth model analysis. Results: The intervention had a large effect on the use of NEWS2 among care staff in intervention nursing homes, compared to the control group (standardized mean difference, d = 2.42). During the final month of the implementation period, residents in the intervention group was assessed with NEWS2 1.44 times (95% CI: 1.23, 1.64) per month, which is almost four times more often than in the control group (mean = 0.38, 95% CI: 0.19, 0.57). During the follow-up period, the effect of the intervention was not only sustained in the intervention group but there was a substantial increase in the use of NEWS2 in both the intervention (mean = 1.75, 95% CI: 1.55, 1.96) and control groups (mean = 1.45, 95% CI: 1.27, 1.65). Conclusions: This tailored implementation strategy had a large effect on the use of NEWS2 among care staff, demonstrating that integrated knowledge translation strategies can be a promising strategy to achieve evidence-based care in the nursing home sector. Background: Despite the numerous advantages of the nursing process, nursing students often struggle with utilizing this model. Therefore, studies suggest innovative teaching methods to address this issue. Teaching based on real clinical cases is considered a collaborative learning method that enhances students' active learning for the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills. In this method, students can acquire sufficient knowledge about patient care by accessing authentic information. Objective: The aim of the present study was to investigate the experiences of nursing students and faculty members regarding the implementation of nursing process educational workshops, based on real case studies. Design: A qualitative descriptive study. Participants: 9 Nursing students and 7 faculty members from the Isfahan School of Nursing and Midwifery who attended the workshops. Methods: This qualitative descriptive study was conducted from 2021 to 2023. Data was collected through semi-structured individual and focus group interviews using a qualitative content analysis approach for data analysis. Results: After analyzing the data, a theme titled "Breaking Taboos in the Nursing Process" was identified. This theme consists of four categories: "Strengthening the Cognitive Infrastructure for Accepting the Nursing Process," "Enhancing the Applicability of the Nursing Process," "Assisting in Positive Professional Identity," and "Facilitating a Self-Directed Learning Platform." Additionally, thirteen subcategories were obtained. Conclusion: The data obtained from the present study showed that conducting nursing process educational workshops, where real clinical cases are discussed, analyzed, and criticized, increases critical thinking, learning motivation, and understanding of the necessity and importance of implementing the nursing process. Objective of this study is to systematically explore and summarize the best evidence on intervention programs for patients with kinesophobia following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) to provide a comprehensive reference for clinical practice interventions. Methods: Evidence on interventions for kinesophobia post-PCI was retrieved from Chinese and international integrated databases, treatment guidelines, and websites of professional associations, including systematic reviews and expert consensuses. The evidence considered in this study extends up to May 2022, encompassing information available since the inception of the databases. Two researchers independently evaluated the articles included in the review and extracted and summarized the available evidence. Results: By extracting and integrating data from the 14 articles included in this review, we identified six categories: pre-intervention assessment, psychological intervention, health education, rehabilitation training, social support, and quality control. A total of 21 pieces of evidence were summarized, including mental health assessment, physical fitness evaluation, timing and content of health education, development of personalized exercise prescriptions, and risk control. Conclusion: In clinical settings, using evidence-based practices requires developing feasible intervention programs based on comprehensive consideration of hospital resources, allocation of medical personnel, and consideration of patients' preferences to reduce the kinesophobia of patients post-PCI and improve their compliance with exercise rehabilitation. Implementing evidence‐based practice (EBP) in clinical practice is an ongoing challenge for nurses. EQUIP—Evidence‐based QUality Improvement Project— is a multiphase project aimed at equipping nurses with the essential skills to implement EBP and advanced nursing practice. EQUIP embraces the assumption that implementation science models and partnership models can facilitate the implementation process of EBP, leading to successful and sustainable change. The current study is one of the EQUIP feasibility investigations in which the perspective of 12 implementation lead nurses (IL nurses) who attended a 1‐day PEACE‐based workshop was explored. Thematic analysis identified 2 overarching themes, 6 themes, and 18 subthemes. The first overarching theme showed that the PEACE‐based workshop has successfully achieved its intended training implications, and the second overarching theme gave insight into factors that may influence the role of IL nurses. IL nurses reported general satisfaction and willingness to use the PEACE model at work; however, some IL nurses found Step 3 difficult to apply. The study's findings provide evidence of the perceived usefulness of adopting the PEACE model as an augmented approach in the EQUIP and the interest and enthusiasm of IL nurses in receiving more training on the implementation process of EBP.
