Excited states in $^{141}$Cs, populated in spontaneous fission of $^{248}$Cm, were studied by means of prompt-$\gamma$ spectroscopy, using the EUROGAM2 multidetector array. This work reports the first observation of octupole excitations in the $^{141}$Cs and $^{143}$Cs nuclei. The new data for $^{141,143}$Cs do not support theoretical predictions of octupole deformation in the neutron-rich Cs isotopes and indicates octupole correlations weaker than observed in the corresponding Ba isotones.

The ground-state band in 110Mo has been observed for the first time. The band, comprising six levels, has been populated in the spontaneous fission of 248Cm and studied by means of prompt \(\gamma\)-ray spectroscopy using the EUROGAM2 array. The ratio \(E_{\rm exc}(4^ + )/ E_{\rm exc}(2^ + )\) suggests that the deformation of 110Mo is smaller than that in 108Mo but may stabilize at higher neutron number, where an oblate shape is expected. The new data suggests that the deformation of Sr and Zr isotopes decreases above neutron number N = 64.

Excited levels in 140Xe and 142Xe nuclei, populated in the spontaneous fission of 248Cm, were studied by means of prompt γ-ray spectroscopy, using EUROGAM2 array. We report the first observation of an octupole band in 142Xe and extend the octupole band in 140Xe. Level schemes of 140Xe and 142Xe obtained in this work show patterns characteristic of ocupole-vibrational bands. Properties of octupole bands in Xe isotopes indicate that octupole correlations in these nuclei are lower than in the corresponding Ba nuclei. The electric dipole moment of 142Xe was found to be larger than in other Xe isotopes, contrary to theoretical predictions. This may be due to the special role of the N = 88 neutron number.

8 pages; Two new rotational bands have been observed in the 152Dy nucleus following experiments performed using the EUROGAM gamma -ray spectrometer. Several transitions have been observed that link these new bands into the known single-particle states. Using the Doppler shift attenuation method, the quadrupole moment of the previously-known rotational sequence has been measured. The value of Qband=3.85±0.06 e b confirms the deformed nature of this cascade. The structures of the three bands are discussed in terms of the occupation of both paired and unpaired orbitals, and are found to be in good agreement with theoretical calculations. The observation of two new bands further extends the concept of shape coexistence in the 152Dy nucleus.

The coupling of efficient particle and gamma detection arrays is a powerful tool to study the deexcitation of both compound and residual nuclei in fusion evaporation reactions. We show first results obtained coupling the DIAMANT (4 pi light charged particle array) and EUROGAM (4 pi gamma array) detectors demonstrating the improvement in the resolving power by this combination. For gamma rays of similar or equal to 800keV improvements in the Doppler correction up to 50% have been reached for the 2 alpha exit channel following the fusion of S-32+Ni-58 at 120 MeV bombarding energy (beta similar or equal to 3%).

We describe the electronics and data acquisition system of the 4π light particle multidetector array DIAMANT. This system has been conceived to be very modular with regard to both the kind and number of detectors. The whole system is designed to run either with a few additional ancillary detectors (Ge) or linked to 4π γ arrays such as EUROGAM. Part of the electronics has been designed using SMD devices; the acquisition is based on CAMAC ADCs and VME units for data acquisition, data transfer is handled via a 32 bit ECL bus (DT32) used for EUROGAM. The data acquisition, distributed on a network, is based on the VxWorks Real Time kernel and the UNIX Operating System.

Media temporalities of the elderly : evolutions in stability This article shows the context of analysis and the first results of a research on media temporalities of the elderly. Several works have finely analysed the diversity of the media practices and studied meanings of media uses. I wish to continue these analyses by insisting on the evolutionary and dynamic aspect of the practices and temporalities of users having expanded, enhanced, so called "interactive" radio and especially television programming. A priori, the elderly, upon retirement, have a "full-time free time". Their media practices seem strongly influenced by their first experiments ; the appropriation of the various peripheral accessories which gradually came with the media, to the latest digital ones, seems to reinforce their habits of watching television. Their representations and relations with times and media are very far away from the image of television like omnipresent media or "devourer of time". Rather, their media practices are to be understood like a temporality of the occupation, according to the expression of Gerard Derèze, characterized by interest and utility. A particular glance at the users who do not carry out a systematic selection of the programs, accepting the unforeseen, highlights an approach of media and time that allow "useful encounter" which I would qualify in a first stage by : "chance and encounter" and "random and the following". The few points presented here make me assume that the global relation of the autonomous elderly persons to the media can evolve when confronted to their new temporal framework and the new program offer, whereas their representations and use of the media remain quite stable.

In 1985 the French government created a unique circuit for the dissemination of doctoral theses: References went to a national database “Téléthèses” whereas the documents were distributed to the university libraries in microform. In the era of the electronic document this French network of deposit of and access to doctoral theses is changing. How do you discover and locate a French thesis today, how do you get hold of a paper copy and how do you access the full electronic text? What are the catalogues and databases referencing theses since the disappearance of “Téléthèses”? Where are the archives, and are they open? What is the legal environment that rules the emerging structures and tools? This paper presents national plans on referencing and archiving doctoral theses coordinated by the government as well as some initiatives for creating full text archives. These initiatives come from universities as well as from research institutions and learned societies. “Téléthèses” records have been integrated in a union catalogue of French university libraries SUDOC. University of Lyon-2 and INSA Lyon developed procedures and tools covering the entire production chain from writing to the final access in an archive: “Cyberthèses” and “Cither”. The CNRS Centre for Direct Scientific Communication at Lyon (CCSD) maintains an archive (“TEL”) with about 2000 theses in all disciplines. Another repository for theses in engineering, economics and management called “Pastel” is proposed by the Paris Institute of Technology (ParisTech), a consortium of 10 engineering and commercial schools of the Paris region.

Evaporation residue excitation functions and statisticalγ-ray spectra have been measured in the heavy ion fusion reaction16O+144Nd →160Er betweenE Lab=76 and 105 MeV. In agreement with statistical model calculations, the evolution of theγ-ray spectra as a function of the compound nucleus excitation energy is consistent with the emission of high-energyγ rays (Eγ>10 MeV) in the early stage of the decay process. The description of the evaporation residue distributions by the statistical model is improved if aγ strength function including a giant dipole resonance built on each excited state and describing the shape of the measured statisticalγ-ray spectra is used in the calculations. The present analysis shows, however, that there is a strong correlation between the parameters of the resonance deduced from the fit to theγ-ray spectra and other parameters of the statistical model, in particular the level density parameter.

This article presents earlier results of our research works in the area of modeling Business Intelligence Systems. The basic idea of this research area is presented first. We then show the necessity of including certain users' parameters in Information systems that are used in Business Intelligence systems in order to integrate a better response from such systems. We identified two main types of attributes that can be missing from a base and we showed why they needed to be included. A user model that is based on a cognitive user evolution is presented. This model when used together with a good definition of the information needs of the user (decision maker) will accelerate his decision making process.
