We present the Python-based Molecule Builder for ESPResSo (pyMBE), an open source software application to design custom coarse-grained (CG) models, as well as pre-defined models of polyelectrolytes, peptides, and globular proteins in the Extensible Simulation Package for Research on Soft Matter (ESPResSo). The Python interface of ESPResSo offers a flexible framework, capable of building custom CG models from scratch. As a downside, building CG models from scratch is prone to mistakes, especially for newcomers in the field of CG modeling, or for molecules with complex architectures. The pyMBE module builds CG models in ESPResSo using a hierarchical bottom-up approach, providing a robust tool to automate the setup of CG models and helping new users prevent common mistakes. ESPResSo features the constant pH (cpH) and grand-reaction (G-RxMC) methods, which have been designed to study chemical reaction equilibria in macromolecular systems with many reactive species. However, setting up these methods for systems, which contain several types of reactive groups, is an error-prone task, especially for beginners. The pyMBE module enables the automatic setup of cpH and G-RxMC simulations in ESPResSo, lowering the barrier for newcomers and opening the door to investigate complex systems not studied with these methods yet. To demonstrate some of the applications of pyMBE, we showcase several case studies where we successfully reproduce previously published simulations of charge-regulating peptides and globular proteins in bulk solution and weak polyelectrolytes in dialysis. We report the discovery and validation of HD 21520 b, a transiting planet found with Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite and orbiting a bright G dwarf (V  = 9.2, |$T_{\rm eff} = 5871 \pm 62$|  K, |$R_{\star } = 1.04\pm 0.02\, {\rm R}_{\odot }$|⁠). HD 21520 b was originally alerted as a system (TOI-4320) consisting of two planet candidates with periods of 703.6 and 46.4 d. However, our analysis supports instead a single-planet system with an orbital period of |$25.1292\pm 0.0001$| d and radius of |$2.70 \pm 0.09\, {\rm R}_{{\oplus }}$|⁠. Three full transits in sectors 4, 30, and 31 match this period and have transit depths and durations in agreement with each other, as does a partial transit in sector 3. We also observe transits using CHEOPS and LCOGT. SOAR and Gemini high-resolution imaging do not indicate the presence of any nearby companions, and Minerva -Australis and CORALIE radial velocities rule out an on-target spectroscopic binary. Additionally, we use ESPRESSO radial velocities to obtain a tentative mass measurement of |$7.9^{+3.2}_{-3.0}\, {\rm M}_{{\oplus }}$|⁠ , with a 3 |$\sigma$| upper limit of 17.7 |${\rm M}_{{\oplus }}$|⁠. Due to the bright nature of its host and likely significant gas envelope of the planet, HD 21520b is a promising candidate for further mass measurements and for atmospheric characterization. Bulk density (Db) and subsequent physical properties are determined by the substrate and packing method. Packing method is the way one fills and compresses a substrate within a given volume. Bulk density produced in the laboratory may not align with “expected” published ranges due to variations in packing. Additionally, it is unknown if ranges identified as “typical” using a small volume sample ring reflect Db occurring in larger production size containers packed using commercial potting practices. Therefore, our objectives were to 1) emulate nursery practices and document the Db associated with a potted 2.8-L (#1) container, 2) develop and test the new “shim and compression” method to determine if it consistently packs sample rings to a Db commensurate with that of a 2.8-L nursery container, and 3) demonstrate how static physical properties are affected by the new “shim and compression” sample ring packing method compared with the traditional bench top tap method. When emulating nursery potting practices with 100% pine bark, coir, and peat, and blends of each, Db ranged from 0.08 g.cm-3 (coconut coir) to 0.17 g.cm-3 (pine bark). We used an espresso tamp and shims to pack the aforementioned substrates in sample rings. The Db achieved using a range in number of presses and discs was largely dependent on the substrate, but the desired Db was consistently achieved for each substrate. There was no effect of disc number on Db (P 5 1.000) for any substrate. There was no effect of tamp number (P $ 0.0602) for all substrates except peat-amended, for which five tamps yielded a greater Db than one tamp (P 5 0.0324). In an experiment in which a different technician who was accustomed to the conventional benchtop tap packing method performed both methods, method influenced Db (P < 0.0001), and the conventional method more closely attained the target Db. Herein, a highly practical first‐principles approach for studying phonon transport across various materials, ranging from low‐dimensional systems to three‐dimensional bulk structures, as well as nanostructures, is presented. This method integrates the nonequilibrium Green's function (NEGF) formalism with ab initio calculations of dynamical matrices generated by Quantum Espresso. A detailed technical approach for extracting atomistic force constants and forming dynamical matrices that adhere to the tri‐diagonal technique within the NEGF framework is provided. Additionally, an efficient method for constructing dynamical matrices of conventional cells from those of primary cells is introduced, remarkably reducing the computational costs associated with density‐functional theory calculations. Context. Since 2018, the ESPRESSO spectrograph at the VLT has been hunting for planets in the southern skies via the radial velocity (RV) method. One of its goals is to follow up on candidate planets from transit surveys such as the TESS mission, with a particular focus on small planets for which ESPRESSO's RV precision is vital. Aims. We aim to confirm and characterise, in detail, three super-Earth candidate transiting planets from TESS using precise RVs from ESPRESSO. Methods. We analysed photometry from TESS and ground-based facilities, high-resolution imaging, and RVs from ESPRESSO, HARPS, and HIRES, to confirm and characterise three new planets: TOI-260 b, transiting a late K dwarf, and TOI-286 b and c, orbiting an early K dwarf. We also updated the parameters for the known super-Earth TOI-134 b (L 168-9 b), which is hosted by an M dwarf. Results. TOI-260 b has a 13.475853−0.000011+0.000013 d period, 4.23 ± 1.60 M⊕ mass, and 1.71 ± 0.08 R⊕ radius. For TOI-286 b we find a 4.5117244−0.0000027+0.0000031 d period, 4.53 ± 0.78 M⊕ mass, and 1.42 ± 0.10 R⊕ radius; for TOI-286 c, we find a 39.361826−0.000081+0.000070 d period, 3.72 ± 2.22 M⊕ mass, and 1.88 ± 0.12 R⊕ radius. For TOI-134 b we obtain a 1.40152604−0.00000082+0.00000074 d period, 4.07 ± 0.45 M⊕ mass, and 1.63 ± 0.14 R⊕ radius. Circular models are preferred for all the planets, although for TOI-260 b the eccentricity is not well constrained. We computed bulk densities and placed the planets in the context of composition models. Conclusions. TOI-260 b lies within the radius valley, and is most likely a rocky planet. However, the uncertainty on the eccentricity and thus on the mass renders its composition hard to determine. TOI-286 b and c span the radius valley, with TOI-286 b lying below it and having a likely rocky composition, while TOI-286 c is within the valley, close to the upper border, and probably has a significant water fraction. With our updated parameters for TOI-134 b, we obtain a lower density than previous findings, giving a rocky or Earth-like composition. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Ground-based astronomy is unavoidably subject to the adverse effect of atmospheric turbulence, a.k.a. the seeing, which blurs the images and limits the achievable spatial resolution. For spectroscopic observations, it leads to slit or fibre-injection losses, since not all photons distributed over the extended seeing disc can be captured. These losses might have a very substantial impact on the overall efficiency of a spectrograph and are naturally highly variable. Assessing the fibre-injection losses requires accurate information about the image quality (IQ) delivered by the telescope to the instrument over the course of the observations, which, however, is often not directly available. ESPRESSO provides acquisition and field-stabilization images attached to the science data and thus offers the opportunity for a post-processing analysis. Here, we present a novel method to infer the IQ profile and fibre-injection losses from the integrated field-stabilization images, utilizing the spill-over light that does not get injected into the fibre. We validate these measurements against the IQ observed in the acquisition images and determine that our method delivers unbiased estimates with a scatter of 0.11 arcsec for the FWHM of the profile and |$15~{{\ \rm per\ cent}}$| in terms of fibre-injection losses. This compares favourably to the estimates derived from either the differential image motion monitor or the telescope guide probe sensors and therefore represents a valuable tool to characterize the instrument efficiency and to correct raw spectra for fibre-injection losses. Direct atmospheric retrievals of exoplanets at high resolution have recently allowed for a more detailed characterisation of their chemistry and dynamics from the ground. By monitoring the longitudinal distribution of species across multiple transits, as well as the varying vertical temperature structure and dynamics between the limbs of WASP-76b, we aim to enhance our understanding of the 3D nature and chemical and dynamical evolution of such objects over timescales of months to years. We present retrievals of three VLT/ESPRESSO observations of the ultra-hot Jupiter WASP-76b, including one not yet reported in the literature, from which we constrain the atmospheric abundances, vertical temperature structure, and atmospheric dynamics for the leading and trailing limbs of the atmosphere separately, via novel rotational broadening kernels. We confirm the presence of VO recently reported in the atmosphere of WASP-76b. We find a uniform longitudinal distribution of Fe and Mg across the limbs of the atmosphere for each of the transits, which is consistent with previous works as well as with stellar values. We constrain substellar Na/Fe and Cr/Fe ratios across each of the transits, which is consistent with previous studies of WASP-76b. Where constrained, V/Fe and VO/Fe ratios were also found to be broadly consistent between the limbs of the atmosphere for each of the transits, as well as with previous studies. However, for two of the transits, both V and VO were unconstrained in the leading limb, suggesting a possible depletion due to recombination and condensation. The consistency of our constraints across multiple high resolution observations, as well as with previous studies that used varying modelling and retrieval frameworks and/or instruments, affirms the efficacy of high resolution ground-based retrievals of exoplanetary atmospheres. The number of super-Earth and mini-Neptune planet discoveries has increased significantly in the last two decades thanks to transit and radial velocity (RV) surveys. When it is possible to apply both techniques, we can characterise the internal composition of exoplanets, which in turn provides unique insights on their architecture, formation and evolution. We performed a combined photometric and RV analysis of TOI-238 (TYC 6398-132-1), which has one short-orbit super-Earth planet candidate announced by NASA's TESS team. We aim to confirm its planetary nature using radial velocities taken with the ESPRESSO and HARPS spectrographs, to measure its mass, and to detect the presence of other possible planetary companions. We carried out a joint analysis by including Gaussian processes and Keplerian orbits to account for the stellar activity and planetary signals simultaneously. We detected the signal induced by TOI-238 b in the RV time series, and the presence of a second transiting planet, TOI-238 c, whose signal appears in RV and TESS data. TOI-238 b is a planet with a radius of 1.402−0.086+0.084R⊕ and a mass of 3.40−0.45+0.46M⊕. It orbits at a separation of 0.02118 ± 0.00038 au of its host star, with an orbital period of 1.2730988 ± 0.0000029 days, and has an equilibrium temperature of 1311 ± 28 K. TOI-238 c has a radius of 2.18 ± 0.18 R⊕ and a mass of 6.7 ± 1.1 M⊕. It orbits at a separation of 0.0749 ± 0.0013 au of its host star, with an orbital period of 8.465652 ± 0.000031 days, and has an equilibrium temperature of 696 ± 15 K. The mass and radius of planet b are fully consistent with an Earth-like composition, making it a likely rocky super-Earth. Achieving a truly accurate wavelength calibration of high-dispersion echelle spectrographs is a challenging task but crucially needed for certain science cases, e.g. to test for a possible variation of the fine-structure constant in quasar spectra. One of the spectrographs best suited for this mission is Very Large Telescope/Echelle SPectrograph for Rocky Exoplanets and Stable Spectroscopic Observation (ESPRESSO). Nevertheless, previous studies have identified significant discrepancies between the classical wavelength solutions and the one derived independently from the laser frequency comb. The dominant parts of these systematics were intra-order distortions, most-likely related to a deviation of the instrumental line-spread function from the assumed Gaussian shape. Here, we therefore present a study focused on a detailed modelling of the ESPRESSO instrumental line-spread function. We demonstrate that it is strongly asymmetric, non-Gaussian, different for the two slices and fibres, and varies significantly along the spectral orders. Incorporating the determined non-parametric model in the wavelength calibration process drastically improves the wavelength calibration accuracy, reducing the discrepancies between the two independent wavelength solutions from |$50\,\rm{m\,s^{-1}}$| to about |$10\, \rm{m\,s^{-1}}$|⁠. The most striking success is, however, that the different fibres and slices now provide fully consistent measurements with a scatter of just a couple m s−1. This demonstrates that the instrument-related systematics can be nearly eliminated over most of the spectral range by properly taking into account the complex shape of the instrumental line-spread function and paves the way for further optimizations of the wavelength calibration process. In recent years, significant strides have been made to enable Quantum ESPRESSO (QE) to operate on heterogeneous HPC architectures, effectively harnessing the computational capabilities of GPUs. Initially, emphasis has been placed on NVIDIA-based hardware and software infrastructure. Nonetheless, the HPC landscape is multifaceted and intricate, prompting the project to prioritize achieving peak performance across various GPU models. To this end, efforts are being directed towards empowering QE to leverage AMD and Intel GPUs through OpenMP offload directives. This study innovatively derives a risk prediction model for hydrogen leakage accidents based on existing case evidence by combining MORT (Management Oversight and Risk Tree) with machine learning algorithms. 30 hydrogen leakage accidents causative factors are derived by analyzing 23 accident cases through MORT, and constructed a dataset of hydrogen leakage accident causative factors through data quantification. Using feature selection to optimize the risk indicators, 14 salient feature indicators are selected from the 30 full feature indicators. Two cross-validation strategies are introduced and combined with six machine learning models to establish 24 working conditions for numerical comparison experiments. The results show that the support vector machine model based on stratified K-fold cross-validation strategy has the best prediction performance, with the model Accuracy of 0.939, Precision of 0.848, Recall of 0.848, F1-score of 0.848, and AUC score of 0.98. This will effectively solve the problem of hydrogen leakage risk prediction and accident prevention in industrial systems. • Hydrogen leakage accident causative factors were derived through MORT. • A dataset of causal factors for hydrogen leakage accidents was constructed. • 24 risk prediction models were built for numerical comparison experiments. • A well-performing hydrogen leakage accident risk prediction model was screened. Primordial abundances of light elements are sensitive to the physics of the early Universe and can directly constrain cosmological quantities, such as the baryon-to-photon ratio |$\eta _{10}$|⁠ , the baryon density, and the number of neutrino families. Deuterium is especially suited for these studies: its primordial abundance is sensitive and monotonically dependent on |$\eta _{10}$|⁠ , allowing an independent measurement of the cosmic baryon density that can be compared, for instance, against the Planck satellite data. The primordial deuterium abundance can be measured in high H  i column density absorption systems towards distant quasars. We report here a new measurement, based on high-resolution ESPRESSO data, of the primordial D  i abundance of a system at redshift |$z \sim 3.572$|⁠ , towards PKS1937-101. Using only ESPRESSO data, we find a D /H ratio of |$2.638\pm 10^{-5}$|⁠ , while including the available UVES data improves the precision, leading to a ratio of |$2.608 \pm 10^{-5}$|⁠. The results of this analysis agree with those of the most precise existing measurements. We find that the relatively low column density of this system (⁠|$\log {N_{\rm H_I}/ {\rm cm}^{-2}}\sim 18$|⁠) introduces modelling uncertainties, which become the main contributor to the error budget. The gravitationally lensed quasar J014516.6-094517 at z  = 2.719 has been observed with the ESPRESSO instrument at the ESO VLT to obtain high-fidelity spectra of the two images A and B with a resolving power R  = 70 000. At the redshifts under investigation (2.1 ≲ z ≲ 2.7), the Lyman forests along the two sightlines are separated by sub-kiloparsec physical distances and exhibit a strong correlation. We find that the two forests are indistinguishable at the present level of signal-to-noise ratio and do not show any global velocity shift, with the cross-correlation peaking at Δ v  = 12 ± 48 |$\rm m~s^{-1}$|⁠. The distribution of the difference in velocity of individual Ly α features is compatible with a null average and a mean absolute deviation of 930 |$\rm m~s^{-1}$|⁠. Significant differences in N H  i column density are not detected, putting a limit to the RMS fluctuation in the baryon density on ≲1 proper kpc scales of Δρ/ρ ≲ 3 per cent. On the other hand, metal lines show significant differences both in velocity structure and in column density. A toy model shows that the difference in velocity of the metal features between the two sightlines is compatible with the motions of the baryonic component associated with dark matter haloes of typical mass M ≃ 2 × 1010 M⊙, also compatible with the observed incidence of the metal systems. The present observations confirm the feasibility of the Sandage test of the cosmic redshift drift with high-fidelity spectroscopy of the Lyman forest of distant, bright quasars, but also provide an element of caution about the intrinsic noise associated with the usage of metal features for the same purpose. The impact of particle size distribution of coffee grounds on espresso extraction was explored. Finely ground coffee for espresso has a characteristically bimodal particle size distribution. For a given median grind size, different grinding technologies can yield a different share of fines (particles < 100 µm). We performed espresso extractions for a range of median particle sizes and systematically varying the share of fines by adding sieved fines to the coffee grounds. Dynamic beverage weights, extraction percentage, extraction time and dynamic headspace PTR-MS (proton-transfer mass spectrometer) analysis and sensory evaluation of the resulting brews were measured. We show that the share of fines plays a key role in the espresso extraction flow rate. An increase of share of fines decreases coffee bed permeability, leads to reduced flow rates and longer extraction times. A statistical model using partial least squares regression of the particle size distributions of coffee grounds confirms that fines decrease the coffee bed permeability. The PTR-MS analysis shows a non-linear increase of aroma compounds in the cup with increasing extraction yield. Our hypothesis is that both extraction efficiency and post-extraction evaporative losses of aroma compounds influence the final aroma compound concentrations in the cup. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A coarse-grained model of linear polyfunctional weak charged biopolymers was implemented, formed of different proportions of acid-base groups resembling the composition of humic substances. These substances are mainly present in dissolved organic matter in natural water. The influence of electrostatic interactions computing methods, factors concerning the structure of the chain, different functional groups, and the ionic strength on polyelectrolytes were studied. Langevin dynamics with constant pH simulations were performed using the ESPResSO package and the Python-based Molecule Builder for ESPResSo (pyMBE) library. The coverage was fitted to a polyfunctional Frumkin isotherm, with a mean-field interaction between charged beads. The composition of the chain affects the charge while ionic strength affects both the charge and the radius of gyration. Additionally, the parameters intrinsic to the polyelectrolyte model were well reproduced by fitting the polyfunctional Frumkin isotherm. In contrast, the non-intrinsic parameters depended on the ionic strength. The method developed and applied to a polyfunctional polypeptide model, that resembles a humic acid, will be very useful for characterizing biopolymers with several acid-base functional groups, where their structure, the composition of the different functional groups, and the determination of the main intrinsic proton binding constants and their proportion are not exactly known. Coffee crema plays a crucial role in assessing the quality of espresso. In recent years, in response to the rising labor costs, aging population, remote security/authentication needs, civic awareness, and the growing preference for non-face-to-face interactions, robot cafes have emerged. While some people seek sentiment and premium coffee, there are also many who desire quick and affordable options. To align with the trends of this era, there is a need for lightweight artificial intelligence algorithms for easy and quick decision making, as well as monitoring the extraction process in these automated cafes. However, the application of these technologies to actual coffee machines has been limited. In this study, we propose an innovative real-time coffee crema control system that integrates lightweight machine learning algorithms. We employ the GrabCut algorithm to segment the crema region from the rest of the image and use a clustering algorithm to determine the optimal brewing conditions for each cup of espresso based on the characteristics of the crema extracted. Our results demonstrate that our approach can accurately analyze coffee crema in real time. This research proposes a promising direction by leveraging computer vision and machine learning technologies to enhance the efficiency and consistency of coffee brewing. Such an approach enables the prediction of component replacement timing in coffee machines, such as the replacement of water filters, and provides administrators with Before Service. Context. The development of state-of-the-art spectrographs has ushered in a new era in the detection and characterization of exoplanetary systems. The astrophysical community now has the ability to gain detailed insights into the composition of atmospheres of planets outside our Solar System. In light of these advancements, several new methods have been developed to probe exoplanetary atmospheres using both broadband and narrowband techniques. Aims. Our objective is to utilize the high-resolution and precision capabilities of the ESPRESSO instrument to detect and measure the broadband transmission spectrum of HD 189733b's atmosphere. Additionally, we aim to employ an improved Rossiter–McLaughlin (RM) model to derive properties related to the velocity fields of the stellar surface and to constrain the orbital architecture. Methods. The RM effect, which strongly depends on a planet's radius, offers a precise means of measurement. To this end, we divided the observation range of ESPRESSO into wavelength bins, enabling the computation of radial velocities as a function of wavelength. By employing a robust model of the RM effect, we first determined the system's color-independent properties across the entire spectral range of observations. Subsequently, we measured the planet's radius from the radial velocities obtained within each wavelength bin, allowing us to extract the exoplanet's transmission spectrum. Additionally, we employed a retrieval algorithm to fit the transmission spectrum and study the atmospheric properties. Results. Our results demonstrate a high degree of precision in fitting the radial velocities observed during transit using the improved modeling of the RM effect. We tentatively detect the effect of differential rotation, with a confidence level of 93.4% when considering a rotation period within the photometric literature values, and 99.6% for a broader range of rotation periods. For the former, the amplitude of the differential rotation ratio suggests an equatorial rotation period of 11.45 ± 0.09 days and a polar period of 14.9 ± 2. The addition of differential rotation breaks the latitudinal symmetry, enabling us to measure the true spin-orbit angle, ψ ≈ 13.6 ± 6.9°, and the stellar inclination axis angle, i* ≈ 71.87−5.55°+6.91°. Moreover, we determine a sub-solar amplitude of the convective blueshift velocity, VCB ≈ −211−61+69 m s−1, which falls within the expected range for a K-dwarf host star and is compatible with both runs. Finally, we successfully retrieved the transmission spectrum of HD 189733b from the high-resolution ESPRESSO data. 'Espresso' (Reg. no. CV‐293, PI 687202) is a lowland ecotype (Gulf sub‐population) of switchgrass (Panicum virgatum L.) developed and released by Mississippi State University and the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station. Espresso was developed from seven cycles of phenotypic recurrent selection for rapid seed germination without stratification. All cycles of selection were made using seed harvested from open‐pollinated isolation blocks containing approximately 100 mother plants. Germination was assessed in laboratory conditions for 15 years, culminating in 2 years of field‐based germination and emergence evaluation at five locations across Mississippi. Over a 2‐year period, germination and emergence of Espresso was significantly greater (P < 0.05) than seed from 'Alamo' and 'Kanlow'. Field testing revealed Espresso as having significantly (P < 0.05) greater establishment success (mean number of seedlings per linear 30 cm) when compared to Alamo. Espresso was released based on the need for southeastern US‐adapted germplasm that possesses enhanced germination characteristics. The flavor, aroma, and color of coffee can be changed due to mechanical damage, reducing its quality. To measure the mechanical behavior of the fruit, compression tests can be performed at different stages of ripeness. In this study, we analyzed the deformation, strain energy, and von Mises stress of coffee fruits at mature, semi-mature, and immature stages under compression forces. Compression in three directions (x, y, and z) was simulated on coffee fruit models using the finite element method. A compression support was applied in the opposite direction to the force application axis. Numerical simulations of the compression process allowed us to verify that the more mature the fruit, greater the associated mean deformation (2.20 mm mm−1, 0.78 mm mm−1, and 0.88 mm mm−1), the lower the mean strain energy (0.07 mJ, 0.21 mJ, and 0.34 mJ), and the lower the mean equivalent von Mises stress (0.25 MPa, 1.03 MPa, and 1.25 MPa), corresponding to ripe, semi-ripe, and immature fruits, respectively. These analyses not only save time and professional resources but also offer insights into how strain energy and von Mises stress affect fruits at different maturation stages. We present a new study of Jupiter's atmosphere dynamics using for the first time the extremely high-resolution capabilities of VLT/ESPRESSO to retrieve wind velocities in Jupiter's troposphere, with a dedicated ground-based Doppler velocimetry method. This work is primarily a proof-of-concept for retrieving Jupiter's winds using VLT/ESPRESSO Doppler velocities. These results are complemented by a re-analysis of Cassini's data from its fly-by of Jupiter in December 2000, performing cloud tracking at visible wavelengths, for cross comparison with Doppler velocimetry results, along with previous cloud-tracking results. We explore the effectiveness of this refined method to measure winds in Jupiter, using high-resolution spectroscopy data obtained from ESPRESSO observations performed in July 2019, with a Doppler velocimetry method based on backscattered solar radiation in the visible range. Coupled with our ground-based results, we retrieved a latitudinal and longitudinal profile of Jupiter's winds along select bands of the atmosphere. Comparing the results between cloud-tracking methods, based on previous reference observations, and our new Doppler velocimetry approach, we found a good agreement between them, demonstrating the effectiveness of this technique. The winds obtained in this exploratory study have a two-fold relevance: they contribute to the temporal and spatial variability study of Jupiter's troposphere dynamics, and the results presented here also validate the use of this Doppler technique to study the dynamics of Jupiter's atmosphere and pave the way for further exploration of a broader region of Jupiter's disk for a more comprehensive retrieval of winds and to evaluate their spatial and temporal variability. This research aimed to enrich Artemia nauplii with Easy DHA and Espresso to improve the growth and survival of vannamei shrimp post larvae and transfer them to brackish water (Caspian Sea). 2100 vannamei shrimp post-larval with an approximate average weight of 49.54 ± 2.60 mg and an average length of 1.09 ± 0.07 cm (PL8) were selected. For each replication, 50 vannamei shrimp post-larval were randomly placed in fortytwo 20-liter glass tanks (containing 15 liters of water) and were distributed indoors. Post-larvae were fed, including freshly hatched Artemia, Artemia enriched with Easy DHA and espresso, and commercial diet for ten days (in salt water and desalination water). The highest growth rate (weight and length) in the saltwater group was observed in treatment seven (P<0.05). Also, the highest survival rate in this group was observed in group three, with 71% (P<0.05). Among the treatments of the brackish water group, the highest growth rate (weight and length) was observed in group fourteen (P<0.05). The highest survival rate was observed in treatments of nine, ten, and thirteen (P<0.05). Post larvae of the sea and brackish water showed the highest amount of fatty acid C20-5n3 in treatment three and fatty acid C22-6n3 in treatment two (P<0.05). Based on the present study's findings, enrichment of Artemia with Easy DHA and Espresso and feeding post larvae with it for nine days can increase survival and resistance to stress (transition to lower salinities) in vannamei shrimp post larvae. Coffee farms receive ecosystem services that rely on pollinators and pest predators. Landscape-scale processes regulate the flow of these biodiversity-based services. Consequently, the coffee farms' surrounding landscape impacts coffee production. This paper investigates how landscape structure can influence coffee production at different scales. We also evaluated the predictive utility of landscape metrics in a spatial (farm level) and aspatial approach (municipality level). We tested the effect of landscape structure on coffee production for 25 farms and 30 municipalities in southern Brazil. We used seven landscape metrics at landscape and class levels to measure the effect of landscape structure. At the farm level, we calculated metrics in five buffers from 1 to 5 km from the farm centroid to measure their scale of effect. We conducted a model selection using the generalized linear model (GLM) with a Gamma error distribution and inverse link function to evaluate the impact of landscape metrics on coffee production in both spatial and aspatial approaches. The landscape intensity index had a negative effect on coffee production (AICc = 375.59, p < 0.001). The native forest patch density (AICc = 390.14, p = 0.011) and landscape diversity (AICc = 391.18, p = 0.023) had a positive effect on production. All significant factors had effects at the farm level in the 2 km buffer but no effects at the municipality level. Our findings suggest that the landscape composition in the immediate surroundings of coffee farms helps predict production in a spatially explicit approach. However, these metrics cannot detect the impact of the landscape when analyzed in an aspatial approach. These findings highlight the importance of the landscape spatial structure, mainly the natural one, in the stability of coffee production. This study enhanced the knowledge of coffee production dependence on landscape-level processes. This advance can help to improve the sustainability of land use and better planning of agriculture, ensuring food and economic safety. Quantum ESPRESSO is an open-source distribution of computer codes for quantum-mechanical materials modeling, based on density-functional theory, pseudopotentials, and plane waves, and renowned for its performance on a wide range of hardware architectures, from laptops to massively parallel computers, as well as for the breadth of its applications. In this paper, we present a motivation and brief review of the ongoing effort to port Quantum ESPRESSO onto heterogeneous architectures based on hardware accelerators, which will overcome the energy constraints that are currently hindering the way toward exascale computing. Transit spectroscopy is the most frequently used technique to reveal the atmospheric properties of exoplanets. At high resolution, it has the added advantage of resolving the small Doppler shift of spectral lines and, thus, the trace signal of the exoplanet atmosphere can be extracted separately. We obtained the transmission spectra of the extrasolar planet WASP-85Ab, a hot Jupiter in a 2.655-day orbit around a G5, V = 11.2 mag host star, observed by the high-resolution spectrograph ESPRESSO at the Very Large Telescope array for three transits. We present an analysis of the Rossiter-McLaughlin (RM) effect on WASP-85A and determine a spin-orbit angle λ = −16.155°−2.879+2.916, suggesting that the planet is in a nearly aligned orbit. Combining the transmission spectra of three nights, we tentatively detected Hα and Call absorption with ⪆3σ via direct visual inspection of the transmission spectra with the center-to-limb variation and the Rossiter-McLaughlin effects removed; these absorptions still remain visible after excluding the cores of these strong lines with a 0.1Å mask. These spectral signals appear likely to have originated from the planetary atmosphere, but we cannot fully exclude a stellar origin. Via the cross-correlation analysis of a set of atoms and molecules, Li I is marginally detected at the ∼4σ level, suggesting that Li might be present in the atmosphere of WASP-85Ab. Brewing espresso coffee (EC) is considered a craft and, by some, even an art. Therefore, in this study, we systematically investigated the influence of coffee grinding, water flow rate, and temperature on the extraction kinetics of representative EC components, employing a central composite experimental design. The extraction kinetics of trigonelline, caffeine, 5-caffeoylquinic acid (5-CQA), and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) were determined by collecting and analyzing ten consecutive fractions during the EC brewing process. From the extraction kinetics, the component masses in the cup were calculated for Ristretto, Espresso, and Espresso Lungo. The analysis of the studied parameters revealed that flow rate had the strongest effect on the component mass in the cup. The intensity of the flow rate influence was more pronounced at finer grindings and higher water temperatures. Overall, the observed influences were minor compared to changes resulting from differences in total extracted EC mass. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, we present observations of two high-resolution transit data sets obtained with ESPRESSO of the bloated sub-Saturn planet WASP-131 b. We have simultaneous photometric observations with NGTS and EulerCam. In addition, we utilized photometric light curves from TESS , WASP, EulerCam, and TRAPPIST of multiple transits to fit for the planetary parameters and update the ephemeris. We spatially resolve the stellar surface of WASP-131 utilizing the Reloaded Rossiter McLaughlin technique to search for centre-to-limb convective variations, stellar differential rotation, and to determine the star–planet obliquity for the first time. We find WASP-131 is misaligned on a nearly retrograde orbit with a projected obliquity of |$\lambda = 162.4\substack{+1.3 \\ -1.2}^{\circ }$|. In addition, we determined a stellar differential rotation shear of α = 0.61 ± 0.06 and disentangled the stellar inclination (⁠|$i_* = 40.9\substack{+13.3 \\ -8.5}^{\circ }$|) from the projected rotational velocity, resulting in an equatorial velocity of |$v_{\rm {eq}} = 7.7\substack{+1.5 \\ -1.3}$| km s−1. In turn, we determined the true 3D obliquity of |$\psi = 123.7\substack{+12.8 \\ -8.0}^{\circ }$| , meaning the planet is on a perpendicular/polar orbit. Therefore, we explored possible mechanisms for the planetary system's formation and evolution. Finally, we searched for centre-to-limb convective variations where there was a null detection, indicating that centre-to-limb convective variations are not prominent in this star or are hidden within red noise. We use the ESPRESSO spectrograph at the Very Large Telescope to measure velocity shifts and gravitational redshifts of eight bona fide Hyades white dwarfs, with an accuracy better than 1.5 per cent. By comparing the gravitational redshift measurements of the mass-to-radius ratio with the same ratios derived by fitting the Gaia photometry with theoretical models, we find an agreement to better than one per cent. It is possible to reproduce the observed white dwarf cooling sequence and the trend of the mass-to-radius ratios as a function of colour using isochrones with ages between 725 and 800 Myr, tuned for the Hyades. One star, EGGR 29, consistently stands out in all diagrams, indicating that it is possibly the remnant of a blue straggler. We also computed mass-to-radius ratios from published gravities and masses, determined from spectroscopy. The comparison between photometric and spectroscopic stellar parameters reveals that spectroscopic effective temperature and gravity are systematically larger than the photometric values. Spectroscopic mass-to-radius ratios disagree with those measured from gravitational redshift, indicating the presence of systematics affecting the white dwarf parameters derived from the spectroscopic analysis. Introduction. Determining the biodegradable edible cup consumer properties will allow finding an ecological alternative to disposable cups for hot drinks. Materials and methods. Butter cookies were made in the shape of a cup, followed by the application of a waterproof layer, the basis of which was pectin or polyvinyl alcohol. A 10-point scale for evaluating cups by individual indicators was developed, and the Harrington's function was used. Results and discussion. Biodegradable edible cups in terms of organoleptic, ergonomic and geometric parameters fully correspond to disposable cups that are currently used. Due to the thicker walls and the material (biscuits) properties, the edible cup allows you to hold a cup with a hot drink in your hands without an additional layer. The absence of an additional layer is important from an economic and environmental point of view. The edible cup could keep the drink inside from 20 minutes to 1 hour. The cup appearance did not change under the influence of drinks at different temperatures: 10-15 °C (Glaze, Frappe, Cold Americano, Ice Cream), warm, 60-65 °C (Latte, Cappuccino, Mochaccino, Macchiato, Flat White, Raff) and hot, 85-90 °C (Americano, Espresso and their varieties). The biodegradable edible cup is resistant to acetic acid and ethyl alcohol that is important because some types of coffee-based drinks require the addition of alcoholic beverages, in particular, Irish coffee, Farisei, Karsk, Coffee punch. The cups can be used for a wide drinks range with a temperature from 10 to 90 °C. It has excellent ergonomic performance and is environmentally friendly, as it can be decomposed like any other confectionery product. Conclusions. Coffee is a complex mixture of chemicals, which provide biologically active compounds with various health benefits. The some biologically active compounds arising from both its natural structure and formed after processing were determined as an antioxidant capacity of coffee beverages. In this study, we aimed to determine how roasting levels of Arabica coffee seed (light, medium, dark) and three brewing techniques—decoction methods (Turkish coffee), infusion method (filter coffee) and pressure methods (Espresso)—affect total antioxidant capacity in a cup of coffee beverage by electrochemical methods such as square wave stripping voltammetry (SWSV), differential pulse stripping voltammetry (DPSV) and cyclic voltammetry (CV). Antioxidant capacities of the coffee samples in terms of the equivalent amounts were determined according to standard oxidation peaks of rutin and caffeic acid. The highest antioxidant capacity was found in espresso coffee prepared at light roasting coffee seeds as equivalent the routine and caffeic at 9.4 ± 0.2 g/L and 19.7 ± 0.7 g/L, respectively with SWSV on a carbon paste electrode. As a result, SWSV, DPSV and CV voltammetric methods, fast, reliable, fully validated and without any pretreatment are alternative to conventional analytical methods to evaluation antioxidant values in any food samples.
