Tilapias are one of the world's most productive and internationally traded foods. It was brought to tropical and subtropical regions for aquaculture purposes to it that spread quickly. The aquaculture sector in Turkey as well as in the rest of the world, it is one of the most important reasons for the spread of invasive species. Three specimens, was collected via gill net during a survey carried out in Iskenderun coast on June and August 2016. The fish samples were 12.4 cm, 20.0 and 21.4 cm in total length (TL) and 36.0 g, 120.0 and 212.0 g total weight (TW), respectively. In this study, Oreochromis niloticus were recorded for the first time in Akgöl (Mersin). It is though that this species was brought to Akgöl (Mersin) for aquaculture and later adapted here.

A single specimen white seabream, Diplodus sargus (Linnaeus, 1758), was recorded on 11 November 2019 from the coast of Konacık (Arsuz) in the Iskenderun Bay (North-eastern Mediterranean, Turkey). This specimen was identified as a specimen of Diplodus sargus. Known as Xanthochromism, abnormal skin coloration is an unusually yellow pigmentation in fishes. It is often associated with the lack of usual red pigmentation and its replacement with yellow. The present paper reported the first occurrence of the xanthochromic specimen of Diplodus sargus from Turkey's Mediterranean coast.

The Harlequin prawn-goby Cryptocentrus caeruleopunctatus (Ruppell, 1830) was reported for the first time from the South-eastern Mediterranean Sea coast of Turkey. This record is the second record of this alien species in the Mediterranean. C. caeruleopunctatus was observed during an underwater survey conducted in November 2021 on the Cevlik coast, south of the Iskenderun Bay. The new alien gobiid fish was photographed with the shrimp at the entrance of the hole and it was easily identified by two dark large ocelli on the upper side of the trunk and many brown ocelli with light margin on the head and dorsal fins. With this study, it was observed that the population has been formed in the region, indicating that its trend has the potential to spread westward along the northern Levantine Sea. C. caeruleopunctatus is the sixth alien goby recorded from the Mediterranean marine waters of Turkey.

A single specimen of the smalleye squaretail, Tetragonurus cuvieri Risso, 1810, (39.2 cm in total length) was caught with a commercial trammel net at a depth of 550 m in January 2022 from Mersin Bay (NE Mediterranean, Turkey). This is the first record of T. cuvieri in the Northeastern Mediterranean, Turkey. Morphological measurements of the specimen were made and recorded with the catalog number (MEUFC-22-11-134) in the Museum of Marine Life, Mersin University.

In the study, it was aimed to determine the morphometric measurements of Siganus rivulatus (Forsskål & Niebuhr, 1775) sampled from Mersin Bay in February 2021. The average value of some morphometric measurements of fish from Mersin Bay (n=196) were found that the total length 17.87 ± 3.11 cm, standard length 13.88 ± 1.96 cm, fork length 17.06 ± 1.35 cm, head length 3.60 ± 0.76 cm, eye diameter 1.08 ± 0.23 cm, interorbital distance 1.60 ± 0.34 cm, body width 2.32 ± 0.48 cm, dorsal fin base length 10.45 ± 2.19 cm, anal fin base length 6.26 ± 1.31 cm, pectoral fin length 2.56 ± 0.53 cm and caudal peduncle height 0.78 ± 0.16 cm. The total length-weight relationship of the species was determined as W = 0.0004xTL4.197 (r2=0.973) and it was found that fish showed positive allometric growth.

In June 2018, a single female specimen of the Ocean sunfish, Mola mola (Linnaeus, 1758) (122 cm in total length and 80 kg in weight) was caught by a commercial trammel net at a depth of 393 m in Mersin Bay (Bozyazı coast), Turkey. This paper presents the first substantiated occurrence and hence, the confirmation of M. mola in the Northeastern Mediterranean, Turkey. Morphological and meristic measurements of the specimen were made and recorded with the catalog number MEUFC-18-11-101 in the Museum of the Systematic in, Mersin University’s Faculty of Fisheries. Morphometric and mer-istic data matched other recordings of this species from parts of the Mediterranean, and the histor-ical captured record of the species in the Mediterranean was documented.

Türün çok nadir görüldüğü yerlerde, ipeksi köpekbalığının dağılım aralığı boyunca kıyı oluşumlarını izlemek çok önemlidir., An immature male specimen of Carcharhinus falciformis (Bibron, 1839) was caught by a commercial long-liner off Samandağ coast (Iskenderun Bay, northeastern Levant Sea, Turkey), on 2nd of November, 2021. This record is the fourth observation of this species in Turkey. Monitoring the coastal occurrences of the silky shark throughout its distribution range is critical, where the species is considered as very rare.

Priacanthus sagittarius Starnes, 1988'in bir örneği Şubat 2021'de İskenderun Körfezi'nde (Konacık, Türkiye), 80 m derinlikten yakalanmıştır. Araştırmamız, Türkiye sularından balığın ikinci ve Türkiye'nin Güneydoğu Akdeniz kıyılarından da ilk kaydını ortaya koymaktadır. Aynı zamanda yaptığımız kayıt türün Akdeniz deniz sularından beşinci kaydını oluşturmaktadır. P. sagittarus Türkiye'nin Akdeniz kıyısındaki varlığı, bu balığın da Süveyş Kanalı yoluyla Kızıldeniz'den Akdeniz'e geçtiğinin işaretleridir. Diğer yandan mevcut kayıtlar, bu türün Akdeniz’de dağılımını giderek genişlettiğini göstermektedir., A single specimen of Priacanthus sagittarius Starnes, 1988 has been captured in the Iskenderun Bay (Konacık, Turkey), at a depth of 80 m in February 2021. This species represents the second record from Turkish waters and the first record from southeastern Mediterranean coast of Turkey. Besides, this species is the fifth successive record from the. The presence of P. sagittarius in the Mediterranean coast of Turkey is evidently due to migration from the Red Sea through the Suez Canal. On the other hand, available records show that this species is gradually expanding its distribution in the Mediterranean.

The age composition, growth parameters, size distribution and sex ratio of Sillago suezensis caught from Iskenderun Bay in Northeastern Mediterranean Sea were investigated. Female and male composition of the population was determined as 40.37 and 59.63%, respectively. Total length of females ranged between 12.30 and 24.20 cm, while it was between 11.50 and 22.50 cm for males. The length (L)-weight (W) relationships for males and females were estimated as W = 0.0071 x L-3.014 and W = 0.0070 x L-3.020, respectively. Age data derived from otolith readings were used to estimate the growth parameters of the von Bertalanffy equation. The estimated parameters for all individuals were: L-infinity = 35.65 cm, K = 0.299 year(-1) and t(0) = -0.288 year. Asymptotic length L-infinity revealed greater growth for males than females. Growth constant K was slightly higher in females than in males. The maximum age was 5 years for females and males. The 1-year-old group was dominant amongst males whereas the 2-year-old group was dominant within females. The condition factor was 0.739 +/- 0.005 for females and 0.742 +/- 0.004 for males. Spawning period of S. suezensis determined to be between April and August. Overall total mortality was estimated as 0.96 year(-1), natural mortality was 0.85 year(-1) and fishing mortality was 0.11 year(-1).

On 08 April 2019, a mature female striped dolphin Stenella coeruleoalba (Meyen, 1833), 185 cm in length (TL), was found dead across the shores of the Mersin Naval Museum, Mersin on the northeastern Mediterranean coast of Turkey. Striped dolphins may accidentally enter the fishing nets, which may be one of the reasons for their death. Although this species has been classified as Vulnerable in the IUCN list, considering the frequency of deaths among this species, the necessity to develop species conservation strategies for the Mediterranean was once again proven by the death of this individual., 08 Nisan 2019 tarihinde Türkiye’nin Doğu Akdeniz kıyısında Mersin Deniz Müzesi açıklarında 185 cm uzunluğa sahip bir adet çizgili yunus Stenella coeruleoalba (Meyen, 1833) ölü olarak bulunmuştur. Çizgili yunuslar, balıkçı ağlarına tesadüfen girebilirler bu durum da onların ölüm nedenleri arasında gösterilebilir. Tür IUCN listesinde hassas olarak sınıflandırılmış olsa da bu türün ölüm vakalarının sıklığı düşünüldüğünde, Akdeniz için türe ait koruma stratejileri geliştirilmesi gerekliliği, bu bireyin ölümü ile de bir kez daha ortaya konmuştur

Bu çalışmada, deniz patlıcanı avcılığı yapan balıkçıların sosyo-ekonomik yapısı, avcılık yöntemi, avlanma dönemleri, kullandıkları av aracı, dalış sırasında kullandıkları ekipmanlar, balıkçı teknelerinin özellikleri ile deniz patlıcanının pazarlanması, ekonomiye olan katkısının belirlenmesi ve memnuniyet durumları incelenmiştir. Çalışmada, deniz patlıcanı avcılığı yapan balıkçıların durumunu değerlendirmek ve çözüm önerileri getirmek amacıyla 35 soruluk içeren bir anket çalışması yapılmıştır. Anket çalışması, Nisan ve Mayıs 2017 tarihlerinde İzmir-Dikili, İzmir-Urla ve Balıkesir-Altınova kıyılarında deniz patlıcanı avcılığı yapan 31 balıkçı ile yüz yüze görüşülerek ve yerinde gözlemler şeklinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Anket sonuçlarina göre balıkçıların, deniz patlıcanı avcılığını dönemsel olarak ve sadece dalarak yaptıkları ve topladıkları deniz patlıcanlarını canlı olarak işleme fabrikalarına sattıkları ve ücretlerini günlük olarak aldıkları belirlenmiştir. Dalarak avcılık yapan balıkçıların dalış esnasında kullandıkları tekne ve dalış ekipmanlarının dalış ve avcılık kurallarına uygun olmadığı görülmüştür., In this study, the socio-economic structure of fishermen, fishing methods, fishing periods, the equipment they used during catching, the equipment used during diving, the characteristics of fishing boats, and the marketing of sea cucumber, determination of their contribution to the economy and satisfaction situation were examined. In the study, a survey study consisting of 35 questions was conducted to evaluate the status of fishermen catching sea cucumbers. The survey study was conducted between April and May 2017 in İzmir-Dikili, İzmir-Urla, and Balıkesir-Altınova coasts with 31 fishermen, face-to-face interviews, and on-site observations. According to the results of the survey, it was determined that the fishermen used to catch sea cucumbers periodically, and only by diving, they sold the sea cucumbers to the live processing factories and they got their daily wages. It was seen that the boat and diving equipment used by the fishermen who did not comply with the diving and fisheries rules.

WOS: 000460285400009, One female specimen of the Smoothback Angelshark Squatina oculata was captured by a commercial trawler at a depth of 65 m on 4 November 2017 from Aydincik coast (North-eastern Mediterranean Sea, Turkey). Squatina oculata had not been reported in this part of the North-eastern Mediterranean Sea nearly for the last two decades. The captured specimen was 726 mm in total length and 3450 g in weight. Morphometric and meristic characters of the captured specimen are compared with the other Mediterranean records. Due to increasing fishing activities and habitat degradation throughout the Mediterranean Sea during the last decades, angelshark species are dramatically declined day by day. A young individual of Isurus oxyrinchus was caught by a commercial longline off Dana Island (Mersin Bay, northeastern Mediterranean Sea) at a depth of 72 m on May 18th 2020. Morphometric measurements of the specimen were recorded and its photographs were taken. The examined specimen is now being preserved in the Museum of Systematics at Faculty of Fisheries of Mersin University, under the reference number MEUFC-20-11-132. This occurrence of a young female specimen reported in this study is adding a new location (Mersin Bay) from the Mediterranean's Turkish waters., Isurus oxyrinchus'un genç bir bireyi, 18 Mayıs 2020 tarihinde Dana Adası açıklarında (Mersin Körfezi, Kuzeydoğu Akdeniz) 72 m derinlikte ticari balıkçılık sırasında pareketa ile yakalanmıştır. Örneğin morfometrik ölçümleri kaydedildi ve fotoğrafları çekildi. İncelenen örnek şu anda Mersin Üniversitesi Su Ürünleri Fakültesi Sistematik Müzesi'nde MEUFC-20-11-132 örnek numarasıyla muhafaza edilmektedir. I. oxyrinchus'un Doğu Akdeniz ve Türkiye sularında nadir görüldüğü aşikardır. Bu çalışmada bildirilen genç bir dişi bireyin bu bölgedeki varlığı Türkiye’nin Akdeniz sularına yeni bir lokalite (Mersin Körfezi) eklemektir.

One individual of Polyprion americanus (Bloch & Schneider, 1801) was captured by a bottom longline from Arsuz coast, Iskenderun Bay at depth of 22 m on 14 June 2015 and another individual was caught by trammel net from Yeşilovacık coast, Mersin Bay at a depth of about 30 m on 01 June 2017. Reporting two juvenile specimens, this paper confirms the occurrence of this species in Iskenderun and Mersin Bays (Eastern Mediterranean coast of Turkey) in addition to previous reports from the Mediterranean Sea. Besides, this report is the first observation for these locations and fills a gap in the distribution range of the species. All measurements and counts, as well as morphological and color descriptions of juvenile individuals of P. americanus, are given.

Sonyıllarda Akdeniz’in denizel biyoçeşitliliği hızlı bir değişim göstermektedir.Özellikle bu değişimden Türkiye’nin Akdeniz kıyıları bir hayli etkilenmektedir.2017 yılı itibariyle Türkiye’nin Akdeniz kıyılarında Hint Pasifik kökenlitoplam 43 familyaya dâhil 71 ve Atlantik kökenli 9 familyaya ait 9 tür olmaküzere toplam 80 yabancı balık türü (47 familya) bulunmaktadır. Bu türler DoğuAkdeniz’de 42 familyaya ait 69 tür ve Batı Akdeniz’de 34 familyaya ait 52 türile temsil edilmektedir. Bu çalışmada Türkiye’nin Akdeniz sahillerinde dağılımgösteren yabancı balık faunasının Doğu ve Batı Akdeniz bölgelerine göredağılımları yeniden gözden geçirilerek güncel durumları hakkında bilgilerverilmiştir., In recent years, marine biodiversity of the Mediterranean has gone through a rapid change. For example, Mediterranean coasts of southern Turkey are affected a great deal by this change. Rapid change in the biodiversity of the Mediterranean has been enhanced with the entrance of alien species from two sources; IndoPacific and Atlantic origin. By 2017, the number of Alien species established populations in the Mediterranean coast of southern Turkey has reached to 80 of which 72 belonging to 44 families is originally from Indo-Pacific and 8 belonging to 8 families is originally from Atlantic. These 80 species represent 47 families in total. These alien fish species established populations in İskenderun Bay, Mersin Bay and Antalya Bay in the northeastern Mediterranean corresponding to southern coasts of Turkey. Iskenderun Bay and Mersin Bay shelters 69 alien species belonging to 42 families, and 52 species belonging to 34 families inhabit in Antalya Bay. This study revised and determined the current status of alien fish fauna occupying northeastern Mediterranean, surrounding southern coast of Turkey with a special emphasis on Iskenderun, Mersin and Antalya Bays. The information provided here is in valuable contribution for the monitoring studies of the alien fish in the Mediterranean.

Bu çalışma, İskenderun Teknik Üniversitesi ve Çukurova Üniversiteleri'nde bulunan Sualtı Teknolojisi Programları'ndan mezun olan öğrencilerin istihdam durumlarını araştırmak, mezunların sosyal ve ekonomik profilini ve öğrenim faaliyetleri hakkındaki görüşlerini ortaya çıkarmak için düzenlenmiştir. Bu araştırma için hazırlanan anket çalışması her iki üniversite mezunları ile yapılmıştır. İskenderun Teknik Üniversitesi, Denizcilik Meslek Yüksekokulu Sualtı Teknolojisi Programı 2011 yılından itibaren 76 mezun ve Çukurova Üniversitesi, Yumurtalık Meslek Yüksekokulu Sualtı Teknolojisi programı 2012 yılından itibaren 44 mezun vermiş olup, toplam her iki üniversitenin Sualtı Teknolojisi Programından şimdiye kadar 120 kişi mezun olmuştur. Araştırma da tüm mezunların tamamına ulaşılamayıp, 97 kişiye ulaşılarak anket formu doldurulmuştur. Anket sonuçlarından mezunların, %72,16'sının sualtı sektöründe, %4,12'snini turizm dalış merkezlerinde, %15,46'sının kamu kurumlarında, %1,03'ünün Sualtı Teknolojisi Bölümü'nde akademisyen olarak çalıştığı ve %7,22'sinin ise çalışmadığı görülmüştür., This study was conducted to investigate the employment status of students graduated from the Underwater Technology Programs in Iskenderun Technical University and Çukurova University and to reveal their social and economic profile and views about their learning activities. The survey study prepared for this research was conducted with both university graduates Iskenderun Technical University, Maritime Vocational School Underwater Technology Program since 2011, 76 graduates and Çukurova University, Yumurtalık Vocational School of Underwater Technology program has been awarded 44 graduates since 2012 and 120 students have graduated from Underwater Technology Program of both universities. All of the graduates could not be reached in the research and 97 survey forms were filled. According to the results of the survey, 72.16% of the graduates work in the underwater sector, 4.12% work in tourism diving centers, 15.46% work in public institutions, 1.03% work as an academician in underwater technology department and 7% 22 of them did not work.

Onespecimen of Brama brama(Bonnaterre 1788) was collected bytrammel net at a depth of 55 m coast of Yeşilovacık(Mersin Bay) on 1 June 2016 and other three specimens were captured bya bottom longline from Arsuz coast, Iskenderun Bay at depth of about 35 m on09-10 May 2019. Although B. brama hasbeen distributed in the Mediterranean Sea and reported to exit in theMediterranean coast of Turkey, its occurrence is rare. The present study is thefirst confirmed report of the species from Iskenderun Bay and Mersin Bay, easternMediterranean coast of Turkey. Besides, the present report is the firstobservation for these locations and fills another gap in the distribution rangeof this species. All measurements and counts as well as morphological and colordescriptions of B.brama agree with previous descriptions.

Erdemli açıklarından (Mersin Körfezi, Türkiye) ışıldak balığı, Gonostoma denudatum’un bir bireyi 08 Temmuz 2019 tarihinde yaklaşık 595 m derinlikten ticari dip trolü (Tekne Uzunluğu: 26,15 m ve Motor Gücü: 400 Hp) ile avlanmıştır. Yakalanan birey daha sonra tanımlanarak, fotoğraflanmış, ölçümleri ve ağırlığı alınmıştır. Sunulan bu çalışmada, G. denudatum Türkiye’nin kuzeydoğu Akdeniz kıyılarından ilk kez rapor edilmiştir. G. denudatum daha önce Akdeniz'den bildirilmiş olmasına rağmen, bu tür Akdeniz'in doğu kısmında oldukça nadir görülmektedir. Bu nedenle sunulan bu çalışma Türkiye’nin doğu Akdeniz sahillerinden G. denudatum’un varlığını işaret etmektedir. Thus, the presentstudy is an indication of the occurrence of G.denudatum in the eastern Mediterranean Sea coast of Turkey. Morphometricand meristic characters of the specimen are given in the text.

WOS: 000406988800013, Two specimens of Epigonus denticulatus Dieuzeide, 1950, belonging to the family Epigonidae, were captured during bottom trawling at depths between 446 and 522 m off Mersin coast of Turkey on 17 May 2014. The presence of E. denticulatus in the Aegean Sea was recorded in 1987. This report is the first capture report from Turkish marine waters and first confirmation record of the fish in the North-Eastern Mediterranean.
