Burning Mouth Syndrome (BMS) is chronic pain and burning sensation in the mouth accompanied by various symptoms mainly seen in peri- and postmenopausal women. Burning and stinging sensation on the tongue, lips and other oral mucosal surfaces, dry mouth or increased salivation, taste change, loss of taste, and paresthesia are the prominent symptoms. In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the demographic and clinical characteristics of BMS patients. Central giant cell granuloma (CGCG) is a benign intraosseous tumor that can cause rapid enlargement, expansion and/or perforation of cortical bone and has no significant etiology. Its differential diagnosis depends on both histological and systemic examination combined with the radiologic findings. In this case report, a CGCG case located in the anterior maxilla revealing a fibromatous and erythematous painless swelling of a 72 - year old female patient with a sialolithiasis as an incidental finding was aimed to be presented by OPTG, periapical, Cone Beam CT (CBCT) and ultrasonographic (USG) findings., Santral dev hücreli granuloma (SDHG) etyolojisi belirgin olmayan benign bir intraosseöz tümör olup hızlı büyümeye, ekspansiyona ve/veya kortikal kemikte perforasyona neden olabilir. Ayırıcı tanıları histolojik ve sistemik bulgulara da bağlı olup, radyolojik bulgular ile beraber değerlendirilmelidir. Bu olgu sunumunda 72 yaşındaki kadın hastanın maksilla anterior bölgesinde bulunan, fibromatöz ve eritematöz bir şişliğe neden olan ağrısız bir SDHG olgusu sunulacaktır. Ayrıca, tesadüfi bulgu olarak sialolith ile karşılaşılmıştır. SDHG ve sialolith OPTG, periapikal radyografi, Konik Işınlı Bilgisayarlı Tomografi ve ultrasonografi ile değerlendirilmiştir.

Ağız Yanması Sendromu (AYS), yaygın olarak peri ve postmenapozal dönemdeki kadınlarda görülen çeşitli semptomların eşlik ettiği ağızdaki yaygın kronik ağrı ve yanma duygusudur. Semptomlar; dilde, dudaklarda ve diğer oral mukoza yüzeylerinde yanma ve batma duygusu, kuru ağız veya tükürük artışı, tat değişikliği, tat kaybı, parestezi duygusu olarak özetlenebilir. Bu semptomlar genellikle 3 aydan uzun süreli her gün devam eden idiyopatik kökenli ağrılardır. Bu çalışmanın amacı AYS konusundaki güncel tedavi yaklaşımları hakkında bilgi vermek ve tartışmaktır., Burning Mouth Syndrome (BMS) is a chronic pain and burning sensation in the mouth accompanied by various symptoms mainly seen in peri and postmenopausal women. Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı temporomandibular eklem rahatsızlığı (TMR) olan bir grup kadın hastada kondil şeklinin ve artiküler eminens eğimi ile yaşa bağlı değişikliklerin ilişkisinin değerlendirilmesidir.Metot: TMR’si bulunan yaşları 18-45 arasında değişen 32 kadın hastanın 64 adet temporomandibular ekleminin KIBT görüntüleri sagittal ve koronal kesitlerde değerlendirildi. Kondil şekli görsel olarak değerlendirildi ve artiküler eminens eğimi “best-fit” ve “top-roof” metotları ile belirlendi. Ayrıca artiküler eminens yüksekliği de ölçüldü. Hastalar 18-30 ve 31-45 olarak iki yaş grubuna ayrıldı. Verilerin kıyaslanmasının istatistiksel analizi için SPSS yazılımı ile uygulanan “Mann-Whitney-U test” kullanıldı.Bulgular: Sagittal düzlemde en sık görülen kondil şekli düz (% 39.1) iken koronal düzlemde üçgen (% 43.8) olarak tespit edildi. Koronal kesitte üçgen kondil başı şeklinin görülme oranı % 31.3 olarak belirlendi. İki yaş grubu arasında artiküler eminens eğimi ve yüksekliği açısından istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunamadı.Sonuç: Kadın TMR hastalarında üçgen ve düz kondil başı tipleri en sık görülen kondil başı tipleri olarak saptanmıştır. AE eğiminin 18-30 yaş grubunda daha yüksek bulunmasına rağmen diğer grup ile arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark belirlenememiştir., Aim: The aim of this study was to assess condyle shape and the relationship between age-related associations and articular eminence (AE) inclination in a group of female patients with temporomandibular disorder (TMD).Methods: CBCT images of 64 temporomandibular joints (TMJs) of 32 female TMD patients (18-45-year-old) were evaluated sagittally and coronally. Condyle shape was assessed visually and the inclination of AE was analyzed using with best-fit and top-roof methods. AE heights were also measured. The patients were grouped into two age groups: 18 to 30- and 31 to 45-year-old. Data were statistically analyzed with SPSS software using Mann-Whitney-U test. Results: The most frequently observed condyle shape was flattened (39,1 %) in sagittal plane and triangular (43,8 %) in coronal plane. Triangular condyle shape was seen in 31.3% of condyles on coronal sections. No statistically significant differences were seen in two different age groups comparing AE inclination and height. Conclusion: Triangular and flattened condyles were the most frequent condyle shape in female TMD patients. Although AE inclination was highest between the ages of 18-30, there was no statistical significance.

Çalışmamız, istanbul'un Sarıyer İlçesi'ne bağlı Kilyos Veysel Vardar Görme Engelliler İlköğretim Okulu'nda yatılı olarak okuyan 7-17 yaşları arasındaki toplam 65 öğrencide gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu öğrencilerden 28'i tam görme engelli ve 37'si ise yarı görme engellidir. Başlangıçta tüm öğrencilere 24 sorudan oluşan `ağız ve diş sağlığı bilgi ve tutum analiz formu` anketi uygulanmıştır. Öğrencilerin diş ve dişeti sağlıkları 9 ayrı indeksle değerlendirilmiştir. Görme engelli öğrenciler 1999-2000 eğitim ve öğretim yılı boyunca iki aylık aralıklarla toplam üç kez birebir iletişim kurularak ağız ve diş sağlığı yönünden eğitilmişler ve motive edilmişlerdir. Her defasında dişlerini bizim gözetimimiz altında fırçalamaları sağlanmış ve uygulamalarındaki hatalar gösterilerek düzeltilmiştir. Yine her ziyarette ağız içi muayeneleri yapılarak plak ve gingival indeks ölçümleri tekrar edilmiştir. Her diş için 4 ayrı bölgeden olmak üzere tüm dişlerde ölçüm yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın başlangıcında ve sonunda 6 ayrı çürük indeksine ve retansiyon indeksine bakılmıştır. Eğitim programının tamamlanmasından sonra `ağız ve diş sağlığı bilgi ve tutum analiz formu` sorulan ikinci kez sorularak uygulanan eğitim programının öğrencilerin ağız ve diş sağlığı bilgi düzeylerinde meydana getirdiği gelişmeler değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmada birebir ağız ve diş sağlığı eğitimi ve motivasyonu sonrasında hem tam görme engelli ve hem de yan görme engelli öğrencilerin bilgi düzeylerinde istatistiksel olarak ileri derecede anlamlı artışlar olduğu saptanmıştır. Ağız ve diş sağlığı konusunda verilen uygun bir eğitimin ve bunun sonucunda oluşan bilgi düzeyindeki artışın, öğrenciyi kendi ağız hijyenini sağlama yönünde harekete geçirmiş olduğu belirlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak da görme engelli öğrencilerin diş ve dişeti sağlıklarında başlangıca göre belirgin bir iyileşme olduğu saptanmıştır. Plak indeksi ve gingival indeks değerlerinde başlangıca göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir azalma olduğu kaydedilmiştir. Çalışmamızda görme engellilerin gereksinim ve becerilerine göre planlanmış olan bireysel bir eğitim programının, sağlıklı bireylere göre daha sabırlı ve dostça bir yaklaşımla ve de biraz daha uzun bir zaman ayrılarak yapılmasının, görme engellilerdeki ağız ve diş sağlığı eğitiminin başarısının temelini oluşturduğu görülmüştür. This study was conducted among a total of 65 visually impaired pupils, aged between 7-17 years, at Kilyos Veysel Vardar Boarding School for the Visually Impaired in Sarıyer, Istanbul. At the beginning of the study, 28 totally blind and 37 partially blind students answered The Oral Health Care Awareness Analysis Questionnaire, which was consisted of 24 questions. Their oral health was evaluated using with 9 different oral hygiene and caries indexes. All the visually impaired students received oral health education and motivation three times with 2-month-intervals. They were instructed to brush their teeth under supervision at each visit. Their oral hygiene practices were checked and then corrected. Plaque and gingival scores were evaluated at 4 sites of all the teeth in 4 visits. Six different caries scores and retention scores were recorded at the beginning and the end of the study. After the completion of the oral health education program, knowledge of the visually impaired students was evaluated using The Oral Health Care Awareness Analysis Questionnaire to determine the effectiveness of the program. A statistically significant correlation was found out between the level of oral health knowledge and practices both in totally and partially visually impaired pupils. It was decided that the support of oral health knowledge and appropriate education helps activating to keep oral hygiene of the students. Subsequently, visually impaired students showed significantly higher improvements of oral health. Oral hygiene indexes of the students were decreased as a result of regular visits. In conclusion, an individual oral health education program, which is designed for the skill levels and requirements of the visually impaired students in a friendly, patiently and time-giving approach, would be successful in the oral health education. 120
