The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of Cysteamine (Cys) and Fetal Calf Serum (FCS) in Synthetic Oviduct Fluid (SOF) and Charles and Rosenkrans (CR1aa) on the bovine in vitro embryo production and its ability of freeze. The oocytes were divided into two groups and allowed to mature in TCM-199, with and without cysteamine. They were divided into 4 subgroups according to whether they contain Cys and FCS in 2 different culture media (SOF and CR1aa). Accordingly, 8 groups were formed as SOF+FCS+Cys, SOF+Cys, SOF+FCS, S Dulbeco's OF, CR1aa+FCS+Cys, CR1aa+Cys, CR1aa+FCS and CR1aa. Embryos were cultured for 7-9 days and were frozen using vitrification method. Development of embryos was observed during the first 24 hr post-thaw period. The highest rate of compact morula was 20% in SOF+FCS+Cys and 19.4% in CR1aa+FCS+Cys. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of oxytocin and carazolol administration on uterine blood flow by pulsed-wave Doppler ultrasonography (USG) and to evaluate the influences of these drugs on uterine involution. Thirty primiparous suckling Kiwircik ewes were divided into 3 groups: carazolol, oxytocin, and control. The ewes underwent transcutaneous B-mode USG in the 1st week after birth, and the examinations continued via transrectal USG until the 28th day of postpartum (pp). The pulsatility index (PI), resistance index (RI), and systolic/diastolic (S/D) velocity ratio were recorded for uterine artery by Doppler USG. At the end of the 21st day of pp, gravid uterine horn diameter reduction was best achieved in the carazolol-administered group. The PI values were found to be statistically significant (P˂0.001) on days 14, 21 pp. The mean RI values of uterine artery were statistically higher (P˂0.01) in the oxytocin-administered group. The highest RI value was detected on the 14th day of pp. The carazolol group had statistically (P˂0.05) higher mean S/D values when compared to other groups. In conclusion, the most effective drug used to accelerate involution was found to be carazolol. The drugs used in this study appeared to have a contraction effect on the uterine arteries. To the author’s knowledge, the effects of carazolol and oxytocin administration on uterine artery hemodynamics in ewes have not been reported in the literature. Therefore, it will be the first report in this field.

Toplanan oositler iki gruba ayrıldı ve sisteaminli ve sisteaminsiz TCM-199 medyumunda maturasyonuna izin verildi. 2 farklı medyumda (SOF ve CR1aa) kültüre edilmek üzere Cys ve FCS içerip içermediklerine göre 4 alt gruba ayrıldı. The intramammary administration of platelet concentrate is expected to treat subclinical mastitis and prevent disease recurrence effctively; therefore, it was aimed to evaluate its efficacy in terms of somatic cell count (SCC) and Milk Amyloid A (MAA) measurements. A total of 120 cow mammary lobes with subclinical mastitis were randomly assigned to one of the following three groups: Antibiotic Group (ABG, n=40), Platelet Concentrate Group (PCG, n=40) or Combined Group (CG, n=40). Platelet concentrates were prepared by the double centrifugation method from blood collected from donor cows. All groups received intramammary treatments for 3 days. Analysis of MAA using a commercially available ELISA method and measurement of SCC were performed from milk samples collected on days 0, 7, 14, and 21. A3-year-old crossbred cat with the complaint of abdominal distension was broughtto Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecologyclinic. Blood sample was evaluated within normal ranges except of mildleucocytosis and increased urea. On ultrasonographic examination a fluid filleduterus and a mass in right ovary were screened. Complete surgical excision wasperformed and unilateral ovarian mature teratoma and hydrometra were diagnosed.Previous reports about feline teratoma did not state other uterine alterationsrelated to uterine disorders. This case was deemed appropriate to be reportedbecause it was the first case of hydrometra associated with an ovarianteratoma. Kan tahlili sonucu ortadüzeyde lökositoz ve artmış üre seviyesi dışında normal sınırlarda tespitedildi. Ultrasonografik muayenede içi sıvı dolu uterus ve sağ ovaryumda birkitle tespit edildi. Kedi üzerinde komple cerrahi ensizyon yapıldı veunilateral olgun ovaryan teratoma ve hidrometra teşhis edildi. Daha önceki kediovaryan teratoma olguları uterustaki rahatsızlığa yönelik bir değişikliktenbahsetmemişti. Bu olgu bir kedide ovaryan teratoma ile birlikte hidrometranındatespit edildiği ilk vaka olması sebebiyle rapor edilmeye uygun görüldü.Dolayısıyla uterus içerisinde sıvı birikimiyle birlikte ovaryumda kitleninolduğu bu tarz olgularda biz ovariohisterektomiyi öneriyoruz.

Ultrasonografi veteriner reprodüksiyonunda keçileri de içeren türlerde sıklıkla kullanılan bir tekniktir. Transrektal yollakeçilerde gebelik çiftleşmeden sonra en erken 16.günde saptanabilir. Ama keçilerde erken embriyonik ölümlerden transrektalmuayene için dolayı gebeliğin 32-34. günlerine kadar beklenilmesi önerilir. Keçilerde transabdominal ultrasonografi (TA) ile gebelikteşhisi gebeliğin 2. yarısından sonra tercih edilebilir çünkü bu dönemden sonra gebe uterus kranio-ventrale doğru inmeye başlarve transrektal ultrasonografi bu dönemde yavru kısımlarının ayırt edilmesinde yetersiz kalırken gebelik yine bu yolla da teşhisedilebilir. Keçilerde 3.5 mHz TA ultrasonografi ile içi sıvı dolu keseler yaklaşık 25 gün ve sonrasında rahatlıkla gözlemlenmiştir.Transvaginal ultrasonografi taraması keçilerde çiftleşme sonrasında yaklaşık 7.haftada erken gebeliğin teşhisine izin verebilir.Sonuç olarak, TR, TA’ya göre gebeliği 4-5 gün önceden teşhis etmeye izin verdiği için daha iyi olarak düşünülebilir. Gebelik,TR muayenesinde de teşhis edilebilir fakat gebe uterus kranio-ventrale indiğinden fötusun kısımlarının ayırt edilmesi güçtür. Buderlemede, keçilerde gebeliğin saptanmasında ultrasonografinin yolları tartışıldı., Ultrasonography is a technique commonly used in veterinary reproduction in species including goats. Pregnancy ingoats can be detected as early as the 16th day post-breeding via transrectal way. However, because of the early embryonic losses,it is recommended to delay the transrectal examination until days 32-34 of gestation. Transabdominal (TA) ultrasonography forpregnancy diagnosis in goats can be preferred from the second trimester on because after this period the gravid uterus starts todescend into the cranio-ventral direction. The transrectal (TR) ultrasonography in this period becomes inadequate to distinguishthe parts of the foetus. But it can still detect the pregnancy. By using the TA ultrasonography with 3.5mHz, fluid filled vesicles wereobserved approximately from 25 day onwards in goats. Transvaginal ultrasound scanning can be an early pregnancy diagnosisin goats approximately 7 weeks post mating. In conclusion, the TR can be considered superior to TA in small ruminants to detectthe pregnancy as it leads 4-5 days earlier diagnosis in the TR way than the TA way. Pregnancy can be detected, using the TRultrasonography after second trimester; but, as the gravid uterus descends cranio-ventral direction, it is difficult to distinguish theparts of the foetus. In this review, the ways of ultrasonography for pregnancy determination in goats were discussed.

In this case, a caesarean section was performed on 2 red deer aged 4 and 7 who underwent dystocia. When the deer were brought to our clinic, they had been in labour for 6 h and 1 day, respectively, and the calves were dead. The foetal forefeet were found hanging from the vulva at the general examination. Deer 1's parturition was human-assisted but the outcome was not good and it was decided to operate on the animal. In deer 2, parturition was taking too long and so it was decided to operate immediately. The deer were sedated and anaesthetised by infiltration of the left paralumbar fossa in order to perform the caesarean operations. The caesarean operations were performed successfully and both red deer are still alive. For a postoperative period of 5 days, an antibiotic and vitamin combination was administered to both deer. It is concluded that for red deer in whom dystocia is common a caesarean operation can be the treatment of choice.

Kedilerin kızgınlık belirtilerinin baskılanmasında progestinler kullanılmaktadır. Çalışmada kedilerde ilk kızgınlığı baskılamak için kullanılan tek doz medroksiprogesteron asetatın (MPA), meme bezinde yaptığı değişiklikler, serum progesteron, östradiol, büyüme hormonu konsantrasyonlarına ve meme bezinde bu hormonlara ait reseptörler üzerine olan etkileri araştırıldı. MPA uygulamasının kedilerde östrusu baskılamadaki etkinliği de incelendi.Çalışmada materyal olarak ilk kızgınlığını göstermemiş yirmi adet sağlıklı, dişi melez kedi kullanıldı. Kediler rastgele iki eşit gruba ayrılarak, hazırlanan günlük kızgınlık çizelgelerine ve vaginal smearlara göre, ilk kızgınlıklarının başlangıcı ve bitişi tespit edildi. Kızgınlık gösteren kedilerde MPA ve plasebo uygulaması öncesi kan ve genel anestezi altında ilk meme dokusu örneği alındı. Ertesi gün çalışma grubuna 100 mg MPA, kontrol grubuna ise plasebo kas içi yolla uygulandı. Diğer meme dokusu örnekleri ise 3 ay boyunca 45 gün ara ile alınıp, immunohistokimyasal ve histopatolojik inceleme için patolojiye gönderildi. Klinik olarak meme hiperplazisi oluşan bir kediye meme ultrasonu uygulandı. İlk östrus bitimine kadar üç günde bir, ilk östrustan sonra dört ay boyunca on günde bir kan örnekleri alındı. Background/Aim: The aim of the study was to determine the effects of gestation type single or twin and parity primiparous or pluriparous , on uterus involution period and on parameters that are related with uterus involution such as; caruncular diameter CD , uterine horn diameter UHD , uterine endometrial wall tickness UEWT ultrasonographically, and presence of vaginal discharge in Saanen does. Material and Method: Totally 20 Saanen does were used for the study. Ten of them delivered twin offsprings twin group , the other 10 does delivered single offspring single group . The does were further categorized as either primiparous n=7 or pluriparous n=13 . Ultrasonographic examinations were performed at postpartum pp 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 10th, 13th, 19th, 25th, 28th days, except in three does ultrasonography was continued till 29th day of pp in which their uterine involution completed at 29th day pp. During ultrasonographic examinations CD, UHD, UEWT parameters always were measured on the thickest and same uterine horn continuously also presence of vaginal discharge were recorded in these days. Two-way ANOVA and chi-square tests were used for statistical analysis of data. Results and Discussion: Gestation type and parity had no significant effect on CD, UHD and involution period except for CD on day 13, in Saanen does. However, uterine endometrial wall thickness on days 10, 13 and 19 were higher in twin delivered does than single ones P, Özbilgi/Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı gebelik tipinin tekiz veya ikiz ve doğum sayısının primiparous veya pluriparous Saanen keçilerinde uterus involusyonu süresi üzerine ve uterus involusyonu ile ilişkili parametreler; karunkular çap KÇ , uterus kornu çapı UKÇ , uterus endometriyal duvar kalınlığı UEDK üzerine etkilerinin ultrasonografik olarak belirlenmesidir. Materyal ve Metot: Toplam 20 Saanen keçisi çalışmada kullanıldı. Bunlardan ikiz doğuran 10 tanesi, ikiz grubunu ve tekiz doğuran diğer 10 tanesi de tekiz grubunu oluşturdu. Keçiler daha sonradan primiparous n=7 ve pluriparous n=13 olarak da ayrıca gruplandırıldı. Üç keçi dışındaki keçilerde ultrasonografik muayeneler doğum sonrası ds 1., 2., 4., 7., 10., 13., 19., 25., 28. günlerde uygulandı. Üç keçide ise ultrasonografi uterus involusyonunun tamamlandığı 29. güne kadar devam etti. Ultrasonografik muayeneler esnasında uterus kornusunun en kalın olanı üzerinde KÇ, UKÇ, UEDK ölçümleri yapıldı ve her zaman aynı kornuda ölçümlere devam edildi. Ölçüm günlerinde ayrıca vaginal akıntıda da kayıt edildi. Araştırma verisinin istatistik analizinde iki yönlü varyans analizi ve ki-kare yöntemleri uygulandı. Gebelik tipi ve doğum sayısının KÇ, UKÇ ve involusyon süreleri üzerine 13. gün KÇ hariç Saanen keçilerinde önemli etkileri saptanmadı.
