Arrays and ensembles of chiral nanostructures have potential applications in the field of enantioselective sensors, metamaterials, and metasurfaces. In particular, chiral nanostructures fabricated through chemical and bottom-up approaches have attracted much attention from the viewpoint of cost and scalability, but the heterogeneity of the unit nanostructure constituting the array or ensemble often deteriorates its chiroptical responses. Here, we report that their deteriorated responses can be recovered or even enhanced further by interparticle plasmon coupling. We employed chiral silver (Ag) hexamers as models for electromagnetic simulations and investigated the effect of their parameters, such as interparticle spacing, chiral purity, and enantiomeric excess, on their g-factor, which is an index for chiroptical responses. The maximum value of g-factor (gmax) of the Ag hexamer surpasses that of the chiral monomer and augments with decreasing interparticle spacing. This enhancement in g-factor is observed even when chiral purity and enantiomeric excess are less than 100%, showing the potent role of plasmon coupling in amplifying chiroptical responses. Furthermore, our research highlights the amplification of the effect of plasmon coupling on the gmax value of infinite periodic chiral nanostructures. These results corroborate the potential of plasmon coupling to improve chiroptical responses by precisely controlling the interparticle spacing of chiral plasmonic nanostructures, thus mitigating the loss of g-factor caused by low purity and enantiomeric excess of the nanostructures fabricated by chemical and bottom-up approaches. Within the circular bioeconomy the production of optically pure LA from 2nd generation feedstocks would be ideal but it is very challenging. In this paper genetically engineered Escherichia coli strains were created to resolve racemic LA solutions synthesised and produced from the fermentation of organic waste or ensiled grass. Refining LA racemic mixtures into either a D- or L-LA was achieved by cells being able to consume one LA isomer as a sole carbon and energy source while not being able to consume the other. A D-LA refining strain JSP0005 was grown on fermented source-sorted organic household waste and different grass silage leachates, which are 2nd generation feedstocks containing up to 33 g/L lactic acid racemate. In all growth experiments, L-LA was completely removed leaving D-LA as the only LA stereoisomer, i.e. resulting in optically pure D-LA, which also increased by as much as 248.6 % from its starting concentration, corresponding to 38 g/L. The strains resulting from this study are a promising first step towards a microbial based LA biorefining process. This study investigates the novel effect of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) optical purity on PLA/liquid natural rubber (LNR) blend films fabricated by solution casting. An investigation was conducted to examine how different levels of PLA optical purity affect the mechanical, structural, morphological, thermal, and barrier properties of PLA/LNR films. Infrared spectroscopy analysis revealed that the D‐isomer content of PLA significantly affected the chemical interactions between the LNR and PLA. The favorable chemical interaction between the LNR and PLA with a high D‐isomer content also increased the elongation at break by 300%. Morphological investigations proved that the chemical interaction also improved the dispersion and reduced the size of the LNR droplets formed in the PLA matrix. Notably, while low D‐isomer PLA blends showed decreased crystallinity (Xc) upon LNR addition, high D‐isomer PLA blends exhibited increased Xc by 460%, leading to a 42% increase in oxygen transmission rate. Additionally, hydrolytic degradation of high D‐isomer PLA increased by 259% with increasing LNR content. In this study, a direct HPLC method was developed to determine the enantiomeric purity of the immunomodulatory drug, ozanimod. A systematic method development process was followed, incorporating risk assessment, identification of critical analytical procedure parameters, initial screening of stationary phases, and software-assisted optimization of method parameters. Eight different polysaccharide-based chiral columns were selected to assess chiral separation of enantiomers under polar organic elution mode. The most promising results were obtained using a methanol:2-propanol mixture on the amylose-based Chiralpak AD column. Following this, systematic modeling was conducted using DryLab software to optimize method conditions, including isocratic eluent composition, temperature, and flow rate. Baseline separation was achieved within fifteen minutes using the optimized parameters: Chiralpak AD column thermostated at 10 °C, and a mobile phase of methanol:2-propanol: diethylamine, 70:30:0.1 (v/v/v %), delivered at a flow rate of 0.8 mL/min. The developed method was validated according to current guidelines and in silico robustness testing was conducted to determine tolerance limits for critical separation parameters and their impact on enantioresolution. Our findings demonstrate the utility of DryLab, typically employed for reversed-phase achiral separations, in optimizing chiral methods even in polar organic mode. Nicotine is a chiral alkaloid; nitrogen-containing organic compound that occurs naturally. (S)-nicotine is extracted from Tobacco plants and used as the key addictive ingredient in many smoking products. Synthetic nicotine has gained the interest of many smoking product manufacturers over the last few decades due to the ease and low cost of manufacturing. Another claimed advantage of synthetic nicotine is the absence of genotoxic impurities that form during the extraction process of nicotine. These impurities are other plant alkaloids, phenolic compounds, and heavy metals. Additionally, the U. S. FDA has implemented new regulations on the quality control of synthetic nicotine. However, only a very few research articles have been published on assessing the complete impurity profile of synthetic nicotine. Therefore, the need to know the composition difference between tobacco-extracted nicotine vs. synthetic nicotine is highly necessary. In this research study, the impurity profile of thirteen different lots of synthetic nicotine was compared with fourteen lots of nicotine extracted from plants using in-house analytical methods. First, the samples were tested for other alkaloids and phenols by reversed-phase High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Second, the chiral purity was analyzed by normal phase HPLC. Third, lead and arsenic content were tested by atomic absorption and fluorescence spectrometry. Fourth, nicotine-specific nitrosamines were tested by LC-MS. The reversed phase HPLC data suggested similar quantities of total impurities in both synthetic and tobacco-extracted nicotine (0.1%). However, synthetic nicotine lacks some impurities such as cotinine, nornicotine, and nicotine-N-oxide. Bio‐based 2,3‐butanediol (2,3‐BDO) production on a large scale depends on critical factors, such as culture medium, oxygen supply, pH and biosafety. In this study, three strategies for reducing culture medium costs were investigated: carbon/nitrogen (C/N) ratio; low‐cost nitrogen sources (crude yeast extract, brewer's yeast extract, corn steep liquor, urea, sodium nitrate, ammonium chloride, ammonium sulfate and dibasic ammonium phosphate); and microbial pH autoregulation. Batch fermentations were performed in a microaerobic environment using wild‐type and safe Paenibacillus peoriae NRRL BD 62. The yield and selectivity of 2,3‐BDO were used as control variables. A ratio between 2,3‐BDO production and glucose consumption (YP/S) of almost 80% and an optical purity of 87% levo‐2,3‐BDO, with no acetoin accumulation, were achieved in an NH4Cl‐based medium at C/N = 8.5 g/g and without external pH control, considering an initial glucose of 10 g/L. Based on Free on Board prices, a 63% savings in culture medium costs was achieved by replacing commercial yeast extract at pH 5. Validation assays with higher initial glucose concentrations showed a YP/S of 0.40 g/g and an optical levo‐/meso‐2,3‐BDO ratio of 1:0.8, with negligible acetoin accumulation. Therefore, the NH4Cl‐based medium at C/N = 8.5 g/g and without pH control was considered economically promising for high‐yield and high‐selectivity bio‐based 2,3‐BDO production. This work reports the synthesis method and various properties of four rod-like antiferroelectric (R) laterally substituted enantiomers, with or without fluorine atoms used as substituents in the benzene ring. The influence of fluorine substitution on the mesophase temperature range was determined. The synthesized compounds are three-ring rod-like smectics with a chiral center based on (R)-(−)-2-octanol. Their chemical and optical purity was checked using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Two newly synthesized enantiomers and three previously reported (R) enantiomers were used to formulate two antiferroelectric mixtures. The mesomorphic behavior was characterized by polarizing optical microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The helical pitch and tilt angle measurements were done using the selective light reflection phenomenon and the electro-optical method, respectively. All the enantiomers exhibit a wide temperature range of the antiferroelectric phase, with a high tilt angle. Furthermore, the enantiomer with lateral fluorine substitution in the ortho position has a very long helical pitch (more than 2.0 µm), relatively low enthalpy of melting point, and a tilt angle close to 45 degrees. Herein, we present a comprehensive total synthesis of cannabidiol integrating both batch and continuous flow conditions. Our approach is planned to streamline the synthesis of olivetolic acid derivatives and utilize an enantiomerically pure monoterpene moiety obtained from naturally occurring (R)‐(+)‐limonene by photocatalysis. Key reactions, including the synthesis of olivetolic ester and a Friedel‐Crafts alkylation, are successfully adapted to continuous flow, resulting in improved yields and selectivities. This study not only offers a scalable and efficient route for cannabidiol synthesis but also contributes to the synthetic approaches to access cannabinoids (diversity synthesis), with potential applications in medicinal and industrial contexts. An enantioselective arylation of isoxazoles with N‐Cbz‐protected azonaphthalenes is disclosed, affording a range of axially chiral arylisoxazoles in good yields and excellent enantiocontrol by utilizing chiral phosphoric acid. Fluorine‐containing compounds are important in medicine or crop‐protection. Herein, we show asymmetric organocatalytic Michael/oxa‐Michael cascade leading to chiral fluorinated pyrans under mechanochemical conditions. Formal oxa‐Diels‐Alder reaction between fluorine containing unsaturated keto esters and β,γ‐unsaturated ketones afforded a range of drug‐like pyran derivatives in short times and good to high yields. Ball‐milling conveys the reaction in short times and high product yields, while keeping high enantiomeric purities of products. This study aimed to optimize the kinetic resolution of building blocks for the synthesis of β-blockers using Candida rugosa lipases, which could be potentially used to synthesize enantiomerically pure β-blockers further. Reaction mixtures were incubated in a thermostated shaker. Qualitative and quantitative analyses of the reaction mixtures were performed using chiral stationary phases and the UPLC-IT-TOF system. Of the 24 catalytic systems prepared, a system containing lipase from Candida rugosa MY, [EMIM][BF4] and toluene as a two-phase reaction medium and isopropenyl acetate as an acetylating agent was optimal. This resulted in a product with high enantiomeric purity produced via biotransformation, whose enantioselectivity was E = 67.5. Using lipases from Candida rugosa enables the enantioselective biotransformation of the β-blockers building block. The biocatalyst used, the reaction environment, and the acetylating agent significantly influence the efficiency of performer kinetic resolutions. The studies made it possible to select an optimum system, a prerequisite for obtaining a product of high enantiomeric purity. As a result of the performed biotransformation, the (S)-enantiomer of the β-blocker derivative was obtained, which can be used to further synthesize enantiomerically pure β-blockers. d-Phenylalanine (d-Phe) is a small chiral organic molecule that is both an important pharmaceutical intermediate and used as a calibrator for quantifying amino acids in liquid chromatography-circular dichroism. We have developed a process for a national certified reference material (CRM) for d-Phe following ISO 17034:2016. The identity of d-Phe was confirmed using mass spectrometry (MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), infrared, and ultraviolet (UV) spectroscopy. The absolute optical conformation was also determined using circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy and optical rotation measurements. Impurities were identified via liquid chromatography (LC) with a UV–Vis detector and a charged aerosol detector (CAD) and LC–MS. Both mass balance and quantitative NMR were employed for value assessment, and the associated uncertainty was evaluated. The certified purity was determined to be 0.995 ± 0.003 g/g, a validation that was confirmed by CD using l-Phe CRM as a calibrator. Twenty milligrams of raw material was packed in sealed brown glass tubes for storage, and no inhomogeneity was observed. Stability tests revealed that the d-Phe CRM remained stable at −20 °C for at least 26 months, at 4 °C for at least 14 days, and at 25 °C and 60 °C for at least 7 days. The d-Phe CRM can be used to ensure the accuracy and reliability of d-Phe quantitation in the pharmaceutical field and also as a calibrator to ensure traceability to the International System of Units (SI) for l-Phe quantitation and protein purity analysis using LC-CD methods. The current study is objected to investigate the essential oil yields, chemical compositions, and enantiomeric distribution of wild and cultivated linalool rich Origanum dubium Boiss. essential oils obtained at pre-flowering, initial flowering, and post-flowering growth stages. Wild plant materials are collected from Mediterranean region of Turkey. Samples were also cultivated in Mediterranean and Aegean coastlines of Turkey in the experimental fields of Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey. O. dubium samples yielded between 6.7 and 9.7% (mL/100 g) of essential oils. The compositions were dominated by oxygenated monoterpenes (98.2–98.9%). Linalool was detected as the major compound in all essential oils (97.0–97.6%). The dominant enantiomer was discovered as (R)-(-)-linalool with a 99.3–99.4% enantiomeric purity. The essential oil yields, chemical compositions and enantiomeric distributions were found to be constant regardless of cultivation, geographical locations or different growth stages. The result of this manuscript indicates that by culturing linalool chemotype of O. dubium, the industrial need for (R)-(-)-linalool could be met at more affordable costs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: A novel positron emission tomography (PET) imaging tracer, [18F] SynVesT-1, targeting synaptic vesicle glycoprotein 2 (SV2A), has been developed to meet clinical demand. Utilizing the Trasis AllinOne-36 (AIO) module, we've automated synthesis to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards, ensuring sterile, pyrogen-free production. The fully GMP-compliant robust synthesis of [18F] SynVesT-1 boosting reliability and introducing a significant degree of simplicity and its comprehensive validation for routine human use. Results: [18F] SynVesT-1 was synthesized by small modifications to the original [18F] SynVesT-1 synthesis protocol to better fit AIO module using an in-house designed cassette and sequence. With a relatively small precursor load of 5 mg, [18F] SynVesT-1 was obtained with consistently high radiochemical yields (RCY) of 20.6 ± 1.2% (the decay-corrected RCY, n = 3) at end of synthesis. Each of the final formulated batches demonstrated radiochemical purity (RCP) and enantiomeric purity surpassing 99%. The entire synthesis process was completed within a timeframe of 80 min (75 ± 3.1 min, n = 3), saves 11 min compared to reported GMP automated synthesis procedures. The in-human PET imaging of total body PET/CT and time-of-flight (TOF) PET/MR showed that [18F] SynVesT-1 is an excellent tracer for SV2A. It is advantageous for decentralized promotion and application in multi-center studies. Conclusion: The use of AIO synthesizer maintains high production yields and increases reliability, reduces production time and allows rapid training of production staff. Besides, the as-prepared [18F] SynVesT-1 displays excellent in vivo binding properties in humans and holds great potential for the imaging and quantification of synaptic density in vivo. To explore the chirality induction and switching of topological chirality, poly[2]catenanes composed of helical poly(phenylacetylenes) (PPAs) main chain and topologically chiral [2]catenane pendants are described for the first time. These poly[2]catenanes with optically active [2]catenanes on side chains were synthesized by polymerization of enantiomerically pure topologically chiral [2]catenanes with ethynyl polymerization site and/or point chiral moiety. The chirality information of [2]catenane pendants was successfully transferred to the main chain of polyene backbones, leading to preferred‐handed helical conformations, while the introduction of point chiral units has negligible effect on the overall helices. More interestingly, attributed to unique dynamic feature of the [2]catenane pendants, these polymers revealed dynamic response behaviors to solvents, temperature, and sodium ions, resulting in the fully reversible switching on/off of the chirality induction. This work provides not only new design strategy for novel chiroptical switches with topologically chiral molecules but also novel platforms for the development of smart chiral materials. The hydrolase-catalyzed kinetic resolution of fluorinated racemates of 3-arylcarboxylic acids is described. Hydrolysis of ethyl esters of fluorinated acids by esterases and hydrolases in all cases resulted in the formation of hydrolyzed (S)-carboxylic acids and unreacted (R)-esters in high yields and high enantiomeric purity. The influence of separation conditions on the efficiency and enantioselectivity of biocatalytic conversion was also studied. The reactions were carried out under normal conditions (stirring with a magnetic stirrer at room temperature) and microwave irradiation in the presence of hydrolases. Amano PS showed excellent selectivity and good yields in the hydrolysis of fluorinated aromatic compounds. The absolute configuration of the resulting compounds was based on biokinetic studies and the use of chiral HPLC. BACKGROUND: Potato virus Y (PVY) is a prominent representative of plant viruses. It can inflict severe damage upon Solanaceae plants, leading to global dissemination and substantial economic losses. To discover new antiviral agents, a class of planar chiral thiourea molecules through the key step of N‐heterocyclic carbene‐catalyzed nitrile formation reaction was synthesized with excellent optical purities for antiviral evaluations against plant virus PVY. RESULTS: The absolute configurations of the planar chiral compounds exhibited obvious distinctions in the anti‐PVY activities. Notability, compound (S)‐4u exhibited remarkable curative activities against PVY, with a half maximal effective concentration (EC50) of 349.3 μg mL−1, which was lower than that of the ningnanmycin (NNM) (EC50 = 400.8 μg mL−1). Additionally, The EC50 value for the protective effects of (S)‐4u was 146.2 μg mL−1, which was superior to that of NNM (276.4 μg mL−1). Furthermore, the mechanism‐of‐action of enantiomers of planar chiral compound 4u was investigated through molecular docking, defensive enzyme activity tests and chlorophyll content tests. CONCLUSION: Biological mechanism studies have demonstrated that the configuration of planar chiral target compounds plays a crucial role in the molecular interaction with PVY‐CP, enhancing the activity of defense enzymes and affecting chlorophyll content. The current study has provided significant insights into the roles played by planar chiralities in plant protection against viruses. Here, we successfully synthesized four structurally analogous, self‐assembled chiral molecular tubes with relatively high yields. This achievement involved the condensation of six equivalents of enantiomerically pure trans‐cyclohexane‐1,2‐diamine (trans‐CHDA) and three equivalents of the corresponding tetraformyl precursor. Each precursor was equipped with a luminescent linker terminated by two m‐phthalaldehyde units. Even though these tetraformyl precursors are barely soluble in almost all organic solvents, the molecular tubes are highly soluble in nonpolar solvents such as chloroform, allowing us to fully characterize them in solution. The stereo‐chirality of the chiral bisamino building blocks endows the frameworks of molecular tubes with planar chirality. As a consequence, all of these molecular tubes exhibit circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) with relatively large dissymmetry values |glum| up to 7×10−3, providing an efficient method for synthesizing CPL‐active materials. An asymmetric synthesis is a favorable approach for obtaining enantiomerically pure substances, but racemic resolution remains an efficient strategy. This study aims to elucidate the chiral resolution of aromatic amino acids and their elution order using glycopeptides as chiral selectors through molecular docking analysis. Chiral separation experiments were conducted using Vancomycin as a chiral additive in the mobile phase (CMPA) at various concentrations, coupled with an achiral amino column as the stationary phase. The Autodock Vina 1.1.2 software was employed to perform molecular docking simulations between each enantiomer (ligand) and Vancomycin (receptor) to evaluate binding affinities, demonstrate enantiomeric resolution feasibility, and elucidate chiral recognition mechanisms. Utilizing Vancomycin as CMPA at a concentration of 1.5 mM enabled the separation of tryptophan enantiomers with a resolution of 3.98 and tyrosine enantiomers with a resolution of 2.97. However, a poor chiral resolution was observed for phenylalanine and phenylglycine. Molecular docking analysis was employed to elucidate the lack of separation and elution order for tryptophan and tyrosine enantiomers. By calculating the binding energy, docking results were found to be in good agreement with experimental findings, providing insights into the underlying mechanisms governing chiral recognition in this system and the interaction sites. This comprehensive approach clarifies the complex relationship between chiral discrimination and molecular architecture, offering valuable information for creating and improving chiral separation protocols. Unexpectedly facile dearomative intramolecular (4+3) cycloadditions of thiophenes with epoxy enolsilanes, providing sulfur‐bridged cycloadducts, are reported. A total of fifteen thiophene substrates have been found to undergo (4+3) cycloaddition smoothly to produce endo and exo (4+3) adducts in yields of up to 83 % with moderate to good diastereoselectivity. Complete conservation of enantiomeric purity was observed when the optically enriched epoxide was used. The desulfurizing transformations of the sulfur‐bridged skeleton of the cycloadducts provide functionalized 6,7‐fused bicyclic frameworks consisting of 1,3‐cycloheptadiene subunits. This study investigates the enantiomeric composition and possibilities of analysis of 1-octen-3-yl acetate (OcAc), a chiral compound found in various samples of lavender essential oils (EOs). Essential oils are complex mixtures exhibiting diverse biological activities and are often subject to sophisticated adulteration methods, necessitating advanced analytical techniques for authenticity verification. Using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and chiral gas chromatography, the analysis of lavender EOs samples determines the presence and enantiomeric ratios of OcAc. The results showed significant variations in the oils; however, there were minimal differences in enantiomeric purity among samples sourced from France, Bulgaria, and Slovakia. Major components such as linalool and linalyl acetate were predominant. The high enantiomeric purity of OcAc observed across all samples indicated there was no adulteration by synthetic products. The study underscores the importance of rigorous analytical methods to ensure the quality and authenticity of EOs, highlighting the influence of geographical origin on their chemical composition. Chiral epichlorohydrin (ECH) is an attractive intermediate for chiral pharmaceuticals and chemicals preparation. The asymmetric synthesis of chiral ECH using 1,3-dicholoro-2-propanol (1,3-DCP) catalyzed by a haloalcohol dehalogenase (HHDH) was considered as a feasible approach. However, the reverse ring opening reaction caused low optical purity of chiral ECH, thus severely restricts the industrial application of HHDHs. In the present study, a novel selective conformation adjustment strategy was developed with an engineered HheCPS to regulate the kinetic parameters of the forward and reverse reactions, based on site saturation mutation and molecular simulation analysis. The HheCPS mutant E85P was constructed with a markable change in the conformation of (S)-ECH in the substrate pocket and a slight impact on the interaction between 1,3-DCP and the enzyme, which resulted in the kinetic deceleration of the reverse reactions. Compared with HheCPS, the catalytic efficiency (kcat(S)-ECH/Km(S)-ECH) of the reversed reaction dropped to 0.23-fold (from 0.13 to 0.03 mM−1 s−1), while the catalytic efficiency (kcat(1,3-DCP)/Km(1,3-DCP)) of the forward reaction only reduced from 0.83 to 0.71 mM−1 s−1. With 40 mM 1,3-DCP as substrate, HheCPS E85P catalyzed the synthesis of (S)-ECH with the yield up to 55.35% and the e.e. increased from 92.54 to >99%. Pure aromatic hydrocarbon materials (PHCs) represent a new generation of host materials for phosphorescent OLEDs (PhOLEDs), free of heteroatoms. They reduce the molecular complexity, can be easily synthesized and are an important direction towards robust devices. As heteroatoms can be involved in bonds dissociations in operating OLEDs through exciton induced degradation processes, developing novel PHCs appear particularly relevant for the future of this technology. In the present work, we report a series of extended PHCs constructed by the assembly of three spirobifluorene fragments. The resulting positional isomers present a high triplet energy level, a wide HOMO/LUMO difference and improved thermal and morphological properties compared to previously reported PHCs. These characteristics are beneficial for the next generation of host materials for PhOLEDs and provide relevant design guidelines. When used as a host in blue‐emitting PhOLEDs, which are still the weakest link of the field, a very high EQE of 24 % and low threshold voltage of 3.56 V were obtained with a low‐efficiency roll‐off. A homologous series of 4,7‐bis(aryl) substituted benzothiadiazole (BTD) compounds, containing the helicenic derivatives bis([4]helicene), bis([5]helicene) and bis([6]helicene), have been prepared upon a double Suzuki coupling between 3,6‐bis(pinacolyl‐borane)‐BTD and the corresponding bromo‐aryl precursors. The single crystal X‐ray structure of the bis([4]helicene) compound shows the existence of both helicities (M) and (P) on the same molecule. All the compounds of the series are highly emissive in solution, with quantum yields of the emission ranging from 50 to 91 %. The enantiopure compounds (M,M) and (P,P) for the BTD‐bis([6]helicene) have been prepared from the corresponding enantiopure 2‐bromo‐[6]helicene precursors. Their chiroptical properties have been investigated in correlation with density functional theory (DFT) calculations, which allowed to confidently assign the absolute configuration of the helicene arms and to characterize the different electronic transitions, including the low energy charge transfer excitation from helicenes to BTD. The enantiomerically pure fluorophores (M,M)‐ and (P,P)‐BTD‐bis([6]helicene), which exist in solution as two main conformers, according to the DFT calculations, show CPL activity in solution, with glum factors of ≈1.7×10−3 at λem=525 nm, and also in the solid state, with glum factors of ≈1.2×10−3 in spite of the strong decrease of the quantum efficiency. The asymmetric [3+2] cycloaddition of azomethine ylides generated from the corresponding imino ester-to-trans-β-nitrostyrene catalysis by chiral aziridine-containing phosphines and phosphine oxides is described. Of the sixteen stereoisomers that could be formed as a result of the title reaction, three were formed, two of which were obtained in an enantiomerically enriched or pure form, and one in a racemic form. In response to the problems of communication capacity and spectrum resource constraints, radio over fiber (ROF) technology has gained widespread adoption, and the quality and performance of the optical transmitter module also directly affect the transmission of the link. This paper presents the design of a direct modulation optical transmitter module in the frequency band ranging from 2.6 kHz to 206.8 MHz using OPA690 broadband voltage feedback op‐amp. The module features a tunable bias voltage range from 0 to 5 V to accommodate different threshold voltages for modulation power supply. It offers a gain of 12 dB and a signal‐to‐noise ratio exceeding 50 dB while demonstrating excellent stability, high signal purity, good spectral response characteristics, and compact size advantages. Based on this design, we further optimized the system circuit by adding a fourth‐order Butterworth filter structure, reducing the lower cut‐off frequency to about 500 Hz, increasing the gain by 6 dB, reducing the return loss to −26.91 dB, and the module's signal‐to‐noise ratio exceeding 90 dB. This optimization scheme improves the stability and signal purity of the optical transmitter module and improves the spectral response characteristics. In this paper, Multisim is used to analyze and verify the proposed optical transmitter circuit. The preparation of Fe(II) complexes combining monodentate NCX− (X = S or Se) and the tetradentate Schiff base chiral ligands RR-L1 and SS-L1 = (RR- or SS-L1 = 1R,2R or 1S,2S)-N1,N2-bis(pyridin-2-ylmethylen)cyclohexane-1,2-diamine in acetone results in an unexpected reaction. Thus, four enantiomerically pure compounds of formulas [Fe(RR-S-L2)(NCX)2] and [Fe(SS-R-L2)(NCX)2] (X = S or Se) are formed by the new asymmetrical ligand L2. In L2, one acetone solvent molecule is incorporated into the ligand forming a bond with the C atom of one of the two CN imine groups of L1, which is transformed into an amine (Mannich reaction). This reaction is diastereoselective as the incorporation of acetone leads to an asymmetric C adjacent to the NH group with opposite chirality S- or R- to that of the cyclohexane carbons (RR- or SS-, respectively). Therefore, L2 contains three C chiral centers. Structural and magnetic characterization of these compounds demonstrates that they show in the bulk a gradual spin-crossover behavior and LIESST effect. Interestingly, the presence of an intramolecular hydrogen bond between the integrated acetone molecule and the NH group can trigger a secondary stimuli-responsive behavior in the system. A novel strategy that combines oxidative aminocatalysis and gold catalysis allows the preparation of chiral α‐quaternary isochromanes, a motif that is prevalent in natural products and synthetic bioactive compounds. In the first step, α‐branched aldehydes and propargylic alcohols are transformed into α‐quaternary ethers with excellent optical purities (>90 % ee) via oxidative umpolung with DDQ and an amino acid‐derived primary amine catalyst. Subsequent gold(I)‐catalyzed intramolecular hydroarylation affords the isochromane products with retention of the quaternary stereocenter. A second approach explores the use of allylic alcohols as reaction partners for the oxidative coupling to furnish α‐quaternary ethers with generally lower enantiopurities. Stereoretentive cyclization to isochromane products is achieved via intramolecular Friedel‐Crafts type alkylation with allylic acetates as a reactive handle. The synthesis of enantiomerically pure tertiary alcohols is an important issue in organic synthesis of a range of pharmaceuticals including molecules such as the anti‐HIV drug Efavirenz. A conceptually elegant approach to such enantiomers is the dynamic kinetic resolution of racemic tertiary alcohols, which, however, requires efficient racemization strategies. The racemization of tertiary alcohols is particularly challenging due to various side reactions that can occur because of their high tendency for elimination reactions. In the last few years, several complementary catalytic concepts for racemization of tertiary alcohols have been developed, characterized by efficient racemization and suppression of unwanted side‐reactions. Besides resins bearing sulfonic acid moieties and a combination of boronic acid and oxalic acid as heterogeneous and homogeneous Brønsted‐acids, respectively, immobilized oxovanadium and piperidine turned out to be useful catalysts. The latter two catalysts, which have already been applied to different types of substrates, also have proven good compatibility with lipase, thus leading to the first two examples of chemoenzymatic dynamic kinetic resolution of tertiary alcohols. In this review, the difficulties in racemizing tertiary alcohols are specifically described, and the recently developed complementary concepts to overcome these hurdles are summarized. Palladium‐catalyzed Suzuki–Miyaura (SM) coupling is a valuable method for forming C─C bonds, including those between aryl moieties. However, achieving atroposelective synthesis of axially chiral styrenes via SM coupling remains challenging. In this study, a palladium‐catalyzed atroposelective Suzuki–Miyaura coupling between gem‐diborylalkenes and aryl halides is presented. Using the monophosphine ligand Me‐BI‐DIME (L2), a range of axially chiral tetra‐substituted acyclic styrenes with high yields and excellent enantioselectivities are successfully synthesized. Control experiments reveal that the gem‐diboryl group significantly influences the product enantioselectivities and the coupling prefers to occur at sites with lower steric hindrance. Zeolites, well-known by their high selectivities in catalytic and separation processes due to their porous nature, play a crucial role in various applications. One significant long-term objective is the synthesis of enantiopure zeolites, potentially enabling enantioselective processes. Earlier attempts result in partial success, yielding some enantiomorphically enriched zeolites. In this study, we introduce a zeolite synthesis approach utilizing chiral organic structure directing agents (ch-OSDAs) derived from sugars, guiding the crystallization process toward achieving enantiomorphically pure S-STW zeolite. The purity of the zeolite is confirmed through extensive analyses of individual crystals using single-crystal X-ray diffraction, extracting Flack parameters and space groups. Theoretical and structural investigations confirm that the sugar-derived ch-OSDA perfectly fits the characteristic helicoidal channel of the zeolite structure, featuring its efficacy in achieving enantiopure zeolites. An efficient method for the continuous separation of Voriconazole enantiomers was developed using sulfobutyl ether‐β‐cyclodextrin (SBE‐β‐CD) as a chiral selector in high‐speed countercurrent chromatography (HSCCC) with different types. The separation was performed using a two‐phase solvent system consisting of n‐hexane/ethyl acetate/100 mmol/L phosphate buffer solution (pH = 3.0, containing 50 mmol/L SBE‐β‐CD) (1.5:0.5:2, v/v/v). A fast and predictable scale‐up process was achieved using an analytical DE HSCCC instrument. The optimized parameters were subsequently applied to a preparative Tauto HSCCC instrument, resulting in consistent separation time and enantiomeric purity, with throughput boosted by a remarkable 11‐fold. Preparative HSCCC successfully separated 506 mg of the racemate, delivering enantiomers exceeding 99% purity as confirmed by high‐performance liquid chromatography analysis. Controlling the enantiomeric purity of chiral drugs is of paramount importance in pharmaceutical chemistry. Isotropic 1H NMR spectroscopy involving chiral agents is a widely used method for discriminating enantiomers and quantifying their relative proportions. However, the relatively weak spectral separation of enantiomers (1H Δδiso(R, S)) in frequency units at low and moderate magnetic fields, as well as the lack of versatility of a majority of those agents with respect to different chemical functions, may limit the general use of this approach. In this article, we investigate the analytical potential of 19F NMR in anisotropic chiral media for the enantiomeric analysis of fluorinated active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) via two residual anisotropic NMR interactions: the chemical shift anisotropy (19F-RCSA) and dipolar coupling ((19F-19F)- RDC). Lyotropic chiral liquid crystals (CLC) based on poly-γ-benzyl-L-glutamate (PBLG) show an interesting versatility and adaptability to enantiodiscrimination as illustrated for two chiral drugs, Flurbiprofen® (FLU) and Efavirenz® (EFA), which have very different chemical functions. The approach has been tested on a routine 300 MHz NMR spectrometer equipped with a standard probe (5 mm BBFO probe) in a highthroughput context (i.e., ≈10 s of NMR experiments) while the performance for enantiomeric excess (ee) measurement is evaluated in terms of trueness and precision. The limits of detection (LOD) determined were 0.17 and 0.16 µmol ml-1 for FLU and EFA, respectively, allow working in dilute conditions even with such a short experimental duration. Enzyme‐catalyzed acylative kinetic resolution (KR) and dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR) of racemic primary and secondary alcohols have been widely reported to produce esters with high enantiomeric purity. In contrast, similar KRs of tertiary alcohols have been reported for only a limited range of substrates and require prolonged reaction times of several days. To gain deeper insight into the substrate scope and increase the process efficiency, we examined the reaction conditions using commercially available immobilized lipase A from Candida antarctica and found that the addition of the heterogeneous, inorganic base sodium carbonate significantly increased the reaction rate while maintaining high enantioselectivity. The use of vinyl hexanoate as the acyl donor provided esters that were stable during chromatography purification. The optimized reaction conditions were then successfully applied to a range of cyclic tertiary alcohols containing tetralin, dihydroindene, chromane, and thiochromane skeletons having, in part, a substituent on the aromatic ring. In this study on the structure–reactivity relationship of enzymatic KR‐type reactions, we achieved >30 % conversion for various tertiary alcohols in 24 h at 25 °C, producing optically active esters with 88–99 % ee. Selective fluorination is a well-established technique to tailor and improve many of the physical properties of liquid crystals. Cyanobiphenyls are among the best-known and understood thermotropic liquid crystals and have served admirably as a testbed for structural modifications that can eventually be extended to other classes of liquid crystals. As such, and expanding on our earlier work, in the present study of the alkoxycyanobiphenyl M series, the individual tail sites of both 4'-(butoxy)[1,1'-biphenyl]-4-carbonitrile (M12) and 4'-(pentyloxy)[1,1'-biphenyl]-4-carbonitrile (M15) were selectively monofluorinated in order to examine the influence on the phase behavior. These fluorinated compounds were synthesized using epoxidation, regioselective epoxide opening and deoxyfluorination chemistry. In all the fluorinated compounds in both series a monotropic nematic phase was found in the cooling cycle. It was observed that as the fluorine atom on the tail moves closer to the core, the compounds exhibited a metastable room temperature nematic mesophase, but recrystallization invariably occurred. Both enantiomers of 4'-(2-fluorobutoxy)[1,1'-biphenyl]-4-carbonitrile were synthesized in high enantiomeric purity by regioselective opening of chiral epoxide intermediates followed by deoxyfluorination, as established by chiral high-performance liquid chromatography, and their phase behaviors were determined. Fermentation of food waste to lactic acid (LA) is a strategy for resource recovery. However, the poor yield and optical activity (OA) of L-lactic acid (L-LA) are major bottlenecks for such efforts. This study focuses on enhancing L-LA yield and optical purity from the food waste without sterilization and inoculation at pilot-scale. First, the effects of temperature on LA production were explored. A higher LA yield but lower purity was obtained under mesophilic conditions, whereas the opposite results were represented at high temperature. On the basis of these findings, a novel two-stage temperature regulation strategy was developed that combined the benefits of both temperature conditions. This strategy not only ensured a L-LA yield of 0.371 g/g volatile solid, but also achieved a high optical purity of 98.0%. The underlying mechanism is that high temperature could enrich L-lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and inhibit LAB producing both L- and D-LA. Overall, this innovative strategy may be well-suited for generating optically pure L-LA from food waste fermentation. Tröger's base analogs (TBAs) and their derivatives are versatile, Λ-shaped, tetracyclic chiral building blocks utilized in numerous fields of research. Although various methods for the enantiopurification of TBAs have been demonstrated in the literature, none has achieved it with the use of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). This investigation introduces a convenient and scalable method to obtain enantiopure TBAs with the formation and digestion of a chiral MOF composed of fully recoverable and non-hazardous starting materials, namely, cyclodextrin-based metal–organic framework (CD-MOF). Isolation and identification of acid-producing bacteria from environmental samples is still one of important and effective approaches to obtain strains producing lactic acid with high optical purity. In this study, an isolate strain named HL64-1, producing D-lactic acid with high optical purity, was isolated from rotten fruit. And HL64-1 was characterized as Leuconostoc pseudomesenteroides based on morphology, 16S rDNA sequence analysis and sequence similarity Blast analysis. After fermentation for 24 h, 62.18 g/L D-lactic acid was produced with an optical purity of 99.90%(ee) in basic fermentation culture. The acid production rate was 2.59 g/(L⋅h). Scale-up fermentation of L. pseudomesenteroides HL64-1 in 5-L fermenter for 72 h produced 78.74 g/L D-lactic acid by replenishment of carbon sources, and the average acid production rate was 1.09 g/(L⋅h). Moreover, L. pseudomesenteroides HL64-1 was found to be capable of using effectively cheap raw materials, such as agricultural by-products peanut cake meal and cottonseed meal, as alternative nitrogen sources, leading a reduction of fermentation cost. In addition, L. pseudomesenteroides HL64-1 could metabolize xylose into D-lactic acid. Co-fermentation of glucose and xylose mixtures showed that glucose significantly enhanced the utilization efficiency of xylose, making L. pseudomesenteroides HL64-1 to be a promising strain for pure D-lactic acid industrial production. Chiral carboxylic acid production from renewable biomass by chemocatalysis is vitally important for reducing our carbon footprint, but remains underdeveloped. We herein establish a strategy that make use of a stereogenic center of biomass to achieve a rare example of D‐glyceric acid production with the highest yield (86.8 %) reported to date as well as an excellent ee value (>99 %). Unlike traditional asymmetric catalysis, chiral catalysts/additives are not required. Ample experiments combined with quantum chemical calculations established the origins of the stereogenic center and catalyst performance. The chirality at C4 in D‐xylose was proved to be retained and successfully delivered to C2 in D‐glyceric acid during C−C cleavage. The remarkable cooperative‐roles of Ag+ and Ag0 in the constructed Ag/γ‐Al2O3 catalyst are disclosed as the crucial contributors. Ag+ was responsible for low‐temperature activation of D‐xylose, while Ag0 facilitated the generation of active O* from O2. Ag+ and active O* cooperatively promoted the precise cleavage of the C2−C3 bond, and more importantly O* allowed the immediate fast oxidization of the D‐glyceraldehyde intermediate to stabilize D‐glyceric acid, thereby inhibiting the side reaction that induced racemization. A novel one‐pot deracemization method using a bifunctional chiral agent (BCA) is proposed for the first time to convert a racemate to the desired enantiomer. Specifically, chiral α, (α‐diphenyl‐2‐pyrrolidinemethanol) formed enantiospecific cocrystals with racemic dihydromyricetin, and used its own alkaline catalysis to catalyze the racemization between the (2R,3R)‐enantiomer and (2S,3S)‐enantiomer in solution, achieving a one‐pot spontaneous deracemization. This strategy was also successfully extended to the deracemization of three other racemic compound drugs: (R,S)‐carprofen, (R,S)‐indoprofen, and (R,S)‐indobufen. The one‐pot deracemization method based on the BCA strategy provides a feasible approach to address the incompatibility between cocrystallization and racemization reactions that are commonly encountered in the cocrystallization‐induced deracemization process and opens a new window to develop essential enantiomerically pure pharmaceutical products with atom economy. Enantiomerically pure organoperoxides serve as valuable precursors in organic transformations. Herein, we present the first examples of unspecific peroxygenase catalyzed kinetic resolution of racemic organoperoxides through asymmetric reduction. Through meticulous investigation of the reaction conditions, it is shown that the unspecific peroxygenase from Agrocybe aegerita (AaeUPO) exhibits robust catalytic activity in the kinetic resolution reactions of the model substrate with turnover numbers up to 60000 and turnover frequency of 5.6 s−1. Various aralkyl organoperoxides were successfully resolved by AaeUPO, achieving excellent enantioselectivities (e.g. up to 99 % ee for the (S)‐organoperoxide products). Additionally, we screened commercial peroxygenase variants to obtain the organoperoxides with complementary chirality, with one mutant yielding the (R)‐products. While unspecific peroxygenases have been extensively demonstrated as a powerful oxidative catalysts, this study highlights their usefulness in catalyzing the reduction of organoperoxides and providing versatile chiral synthons. All living organisms produce only one enantiomer, so we found that all natural compounds are presented in enantiomerically pure form. Asymmetric synthesis is highly spread in medicinal chemistry because enantiomerically pure drugs are highly applicable. This study initially demonstrated the feasibility of a good idea for the asymmetric synthesis of α-alkylated carbonyl compounds with high enantiomeric purity ranging from 91 to 94% using different quinazolinone derivatives. The structure of all compounds was confirmed via elemental analysis and different spectroscopic data and the enantioselectivity was determined via HPLC using silica gel column. The synthesized compounds' mode of action was investigated using molecular docking against the outer membrane protein A (OMPA) and exo-1,3-beta-glucanase, with interpreting their pharmacokinetics aspects. The results of the antimicrobial effectiveness of these compounds revealed that compound 6a has a broad biocidal activity and this in-vitro study was in line with the in-silico results. Commercial GNSS RO products are being touted for their coverage in polar regions where COSMIC-2 observations don't reach. This study seeks to explore their value for Arctic PBL investigations where sufficient lower atmospheric penetration of GNSS RO is vital for representing the persistently shallow PBL. Both NASA purchased commercial RO products, Spire and GeoOptics, have improved lower tropospheric penetration probability over the Arctic Ocean compared to MetOp observations, with Spire having greater volume of observations (nearly two orders of magnitude) compared to GeoOptics. A seasonal cycle is evident in the RO penetration probability (except for Spire) that is found to be related to the water vapor pressure. For winter months, at the 500 m level, which is the standard cut-off threshold used for GNSS RO PBL studies, both products yield a penetration probability of ~80 % of total observations over the Arctic Ocean and up to ~100 % over the frozen sea ice region. As a result, both products are able to sufficiently represent the shallow Arctic PBLH (less than 300 m depth) which is comparable to the PBLH from MERRA-2 reanalysis, unlike MetOp observations which fails to capture PBL heights below 400 m. Enantioseparation of α -hydroxy acids is essential since specific enantiomers of these compounds can be used as disease biomarkers for diagnosis and prognosis of cancer, brain diseases, kidney diseases, diabetes, etc., as well as in the food industry to ensure quality. HPLC methods were developed for the enantioselective separation of 11 α -hydroxy acids using a superficially porous particle–based teicoplanin (TeicoShell) chiral stationary phase. The retention behaviors observed for the hydroxy acids were HILIC, reversed phase, and ion-exclusion. While both mass spectrometry and UV spectroscopy detection methods could be used, specific mobile phases containing ammonium formate and potassium dihydrogen phosphate, respectively, were necessary with each approach. The LC–MS mode was approximately two orders of magnitude more sensitive than UV detection. Mobile phase acidity and ionic strength significantly affected enantioresolution and enantioselectivity. Interestingly, higher ionic strength resulted in increased retention and enantioresolution. It was noticed that for formate-containing mobile phases, using acetonitrile as the organic modifier usually resulted in greater enantioresolution compared to methanol. However, sometimes using acetonitrile with high ammonium formate concentrations led to lengthy retention times which could be avoided by using methanol as the organic modifier. Additionally, the enantiomeric purities of single enantiomer standards were determined and it was shown that almost all standards contained some levels of enantiomeric impurities. Chiral cyclic β-amino alcohols are vital building blocks for the synthesis of numerous pharmaceuticals and bioactive molecules. Asymmetric ring-opening of cyclic meso-epoxides is a straightforward and appealing method for their synthesis. However, developing an environmentally friendly and cost-effective approach for this process remains elusive. Herein, the synthesis of enantiomerically pure cyclic β-amino alcohols through a fully biocatalytic asymmetric ring-opening of cyclic meso-epoxides is described. A novel amine transaminase (CepTA) from Capronia epimyces with comparable activity and excellent enantioselectivity toward small molecule cyclic α-hydroxy ketones was discovered and proved to be efficient on a wide range of substrates. Homology modelling, molecular docking, and molecular dynamics simulations were also performed to elucidate the highly efficient catalytic mechanisms of CepTA for small cyclic α-hydroxy ketones. The asymmetric ring-opening of cyclic meso-epoxides (4′j–k) was successfully achieved by using combined recombinant E. coli (SpEH-AnDDH-BsLDH) and E. coli (CepTA) resting cells, leading to the production of cyclic (1R,2R)-trans-β-amino alcohols (1′j–k) up to 81.8% conversions and >99% ee. This study marks the first instance of achieving fully biocatalytic asymmetric ring-opening of meso-epoxides to chiral cyclic β-amino alcohols, offering a novel pathway for the environmentally friendly synthesis of chiral cyclic β-amino alcohols from readily available, cost-effective meso-epoxides. Iptacopan, the first orally available small-molecule complement factor B inhibitor, was developed by Novartis AG of Switzerland. Iptacopan for the treatment of PNH was just approved by the FDA in December 2023. Other indications for treatment are still in phase III clinical trials. Iptacopan is a small-molecule inhibitor targeting complement factor B, showing positive therapeutic effects in the treatment of PNH, C3 glomerulonephritis, and other diseases. Although Iptacopan is already on the market, there has been no detailed synthesis process or specific parameter report on the intermediates during the synthesis of its compounds except for the original research patent. In this study, a practical synthesis route for Iptacopan was obtained through incremental improvement while a biosynthesis method for ketoreductase was used for the synthesis of the pivotal intermediate 12. Moreover, by screening the existing enzyme library of our research group on the basis of random as well as site-directed mutagenesis methods, an enzyme (M8) proven to be of high optical purity with a high yield for biocatalectic reduction was obtained. This enzyme was used to prepare the compound benzyl (2S,4S)-4-hydroxy-2-(4-(methoxycarbonyl)-phenyl)-piperidine-1-carboxylate) white powder (36.8 g HPLC purity: 98%, ee value: 99%). In the synthesis of intermediate 15, the reaction was improved from two-step to one-step, which indicated that the risk of chiral allosterism was reduced while the scale was expanded. Finally, Iptacopan was synthesized in a seven-step reaction with a total yield of 29%. Since three chiral intermediate impurities were synthesized directionally, this paper lays a solid foundation for the future of pharmaceutical manufacturing. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The synthesis of a family of chiral and enantiomerically pure pyridyl‐diamide (pda) ligands that upon complexation with europium [Eu(CF3SO3)3] result in chiral complexes with metal centered luminescence is reported; the sets of enantiomers giving rise to both circular dichroism (CD) and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) signatures. The solid‐state structures of these chiral metallosupramolecular systems are determined using X‐ray diffraction showing that the ligand chirality is transferred from solution to the solid state. This optically favorable helical packing arrangement is confirmed by recording the CPL spectra from the crystalline assembly by using steady state and enantioselective differential chiral contrast (EDCC) CPL Laser Scanning Confocal Microscopy (CPL‐LSCM) where the two enantiomers can be clearly distinguished.
