The last years have witnessed a deep modification of air transport stakeholder’s behaviours. Airlines competition has been exacerbated by the downturns in the economic conditions while airport competition has been emerging as a result of the less governmental intervention in financing airport investments. The first aspect has resulted in a mix-model adopted by EU airlines in the intra EU market, which implies that network airlines have adopted few of the strategies that have guaranteed the establishment of the low fares carriers while low cost carriers have adopted simple hubbing models and have been continuously increasing the number of major airport served. The volatility of the air transport liberalized and deregulated market has been analysed in the scientific literature and these aspects can be perceived as further evidences of the increased volatility. In order to limit the negative effects of volatility in the EU air transport market, air transport players have been sought manners to enhance stability. Airlines mergers or acquisitions, buyout of airport operator’s shares by airlines, airport-airline partnership for ad-hoc infrastructure development or buyout of airport’s shares by other airport operators are examples of this will for a greater stability of the system. This paper involves all these aspects, This paper analyses all these aspects highlighting the pursuing of greater stability by the fragile EU air transport system.

Until now there is no research about the acceptability of a congestion charging for the City of Zagreb, while in many European cities such studies exist. The importance of acceptability research is the fact that if the public does not support the implementation of the congestion charging, there is a small possibility that this step would be taken by the politicians. City of Zagreb with the surroundings is facing with increasing number of cars on the roads. Not exactly a popular measure of congestion charging, which belongs to the traffic demand management and it's acceptability is analyzed in the paper. With analysis of the conducted survey the attitudes of citizens about the acceptability, level of charge and existing parking policy is presented in paper.

Low-cost carriers operate no-frills point-to-point services, focusing on medium and short-haul origin-destination markets. Indeed, low-cost airlines sell to travellers a product with very simple features, which enable them to operate at a much lower cost per unit of output, compared to full-service carriers. Over the last decade, low-cost carriers have dramatically increased their market shares and nowadays they control about the 20% of the intra-European market in terms of flight frequencies and more than the 30% in terms of seats offered in the same market. This paper presents an overview of the operational, economic and environmental performances of a sample of European low-cost carriers. Different methodologies and indices are applied in order to obtain a set of quantitative results, so that proper comparisons can be conducted and general conclusions can be drawn.

Aircraft noise is a paramount issue among air transport stakeholders. If on the one hand the relation between airport and local communities has sometimes been compromised by aircraft noise, on the other hand noise charges or surcharges and noise restrictions could distort the relation between airlines and airports. Aircraft noise management techniques have been developed both at central level and both at local level (i.e. at airport level), for ensuring the acoustical sustainability of airports. As a network industry, air transport is strongly dependent on the capacity of airports, and hence noise can constrain the entire air transport system. This paper analyses a methodology for aircraft noise performance evaluation, applicable for air transport noise stakeholders, and proposes the utilization of this methodology as a noise management tool.
