Background: Mistreatment from patients is prevalent and has far-reaching negative consequences. Aim: To develop a practice-based curriculum on patient-initiated mistreatment and examine participant perceptions before and after the curriculum. Setting: Single medical school in the United States. Participants: 306 senior medical students from classes 2022 and 2023. Program Description: A single patient-initiated mistreatment session delivered during specialty-specific residency preparation courses (RPCs) featuring a literature discussion, a response framework, and patient-actor skills practice. Program Evaluation: Between February 2022 and October 2023, 22 sessions occurred. Electronic surveys were delivered before, following, and approximately eight months after each session. A total of 257 (84.0%) and 174 (56.9%) participants completed pre- and post-session surveys, respectively. Significant increases in mean scores were noted for confidence in recognizing mistreatment (pre-session 4.25, post-session 4.68; p < 0.001) and comfort in addressing mistreatment personally (pre-session 2.86, post-session 4.30; p < 0.001) and as a bystander (pre-session 2.98, post-session 4.27; p < 0.001). In the follow-up survey, participants noted that the session was useful in preparing them for residency. Discussion: A novel patient-initiated mistreatment curriculum empowered students, resulting in enhanced confidence in responding and sustained skill usage. Neonatal seizures (NS) represent an important clinical manifestation among critically ill infants and are often the first sign of underlying brain injury. Early recognition and treatment are essential to reduce morbidity and mortality. The present study investigated the NS management and treatment approaches employed by level II/III neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) across the United States to identify areas of consensus and variability. Personnel associated with level II/III NICUs were directly surveyed with an electronic questionnaire. Access to neurology specialists, on-site electroencephalography (EEG) monitoring, and use of antiseizure medications was directly queried. A total of 51 NICUs participated in this survey. Twenty-five percent of the surveyed NICUs reported having an established clinical practice pathway available for treating NS. Twenty-four percent endorsed having written guidelines that provided a formal definition for the concept of "neonatal seizures." Although the majority of NICUs reported having phenobarbital available for rapid seizure management, most NICUs lacked access to additional antiseizure medications for treatment escalation. Twenty-four percent of the surveyed NICUs had no access to EEG monitoring available to them on-site. Daytime and overnight access to neurology consultants was limited and variable. Findings were consistent with a lack of equitable access for NS treatment. Areas of potential improvement include development and implementation of a protocol for rapidly treating NS that emphasizes enhanced access to EEG and rapid neurology consultation, acknowledging and improving upon resource limitations. Objectives The last major UK survey of medical undergraduate rheumatology teaching was 25 years ago. This study aimed to describe current teaching practice, the perceptions of teachers and students and their engagement with Versus Arthritis teaching resources and future challenges and opportunities. Methods Electronic surveys were distributed by e-mail and/or social media to relevant teachers and students identified within all 37 UK medical schools. Results A total of 34/37 (91%) teacher and 30/37 (81%) student surveys were returned. Compared with the last survey, the proportion of schools delivering rheumatology-identifiable teaching has fallen from 100% to 86% and the mean number of teaching days from 30 to 10. Rheumatology teaching is now more dispersed throughout the curriculum. Students preferred active learning methods such as simulation and expert patient teaching, while teachers preferred small-group teaching, online learning and lectures. The Versus Arthritis resources appeared underutilized by students but were considered useful. Most students thought rheumatology careers were not promoted within their medical school. Conclusion A decrease in dedicated rheumatology teaching time was noted since the last survey 25 years ago. This research examines United Arab Emirates (UAE) university students' electronic sports habits and motivations using the theory of uses and rewards and the motivation scale for sports consumption (MSSC). A deliberate sample of 172 participants was surveyed using an electronic questionnaire to give their perspectives on various electronic sports-related topics. Most respondents considered e-sports a serious sport and valued it as a social practice. They practiced e-sports for two to four hours daily, preferring multiplayer games, confirming the collective tendency. Live-streaming services have helped electronic sports to become mainstream. Considering the UAE's enthusiasm, most respondents played e-sports professionally. Finally, indirect realization, aesthetics, and escapism motivated e-sports players. These findings shed light on the perspectives and experiences of UAE residents who participate in electronic sports and may be used to guide efforts to legitimize and mainstream the activity. Electronic voting (e-voting) systems are gaining increasing attention as a means to modernize electoral processes, enhance transparency, and boost voters' participation. In recent years, significant developments have occurred in the study of e-voting and blockchain technology systems, hence reshaping many electoral systems globally. For example, real-world implementations of blockchain-based e-voting have been explored in various countries, such as Estonia and Switzerland, which demonstrates the potential of blockchain to enhance the security and transparency of elections. Thus, in this paper, we present a survey of the latest trends in the development of e-voting systems, focusing on the integration of blockchain technology as a promising solution to address various concerns in e-voting, including security, transparency, auditability, and voting integrity. This survey is important because existing survey articles do not cover the latest advancements in blockchain technology for e-voting, particularly as it relates to architecture, global trends, and current concerns in the developmental process. Thus, we address this gap by providing an encompassing overview of architectures, developments, concerns, and solutions in e-voting systems based on the use of blockchain technology. Specifically, a concise summary of the information necessary for implementing blockchain-based e-voting solutions is provided. Furthermore, we discuss recent advances in blockchain systems, which aim to enhance scalability and performance in large-scale voting scenarios. We also highlight the fact that the implementation of blockchain-based e-voting systems faces challenges, including cybersecurity risks, resource intensity, and the need for robust infrastructure, which must be addressed to ensure the scalability and reliability of these systems. This survey also points to the ongoing development in the field, highlighting future research directions such as improving the efficiency of blockchain algorithms and integrating advanced cryptographic techniques to further enhance security and trust in e-voting systems. Hence, by analyzing the current state of e-voting systems and blockchain technology, insights have been provided into the opportunities and challenges in the field with opportunities for future research and development efforts aimed at creating more secure, transparent, and inclusive electoral processes. Introduction: Teledentistry is an innovative health care delivery platform that can potentially improve oral health access and outcomes. The purpose of this study was to predict teledentistry utilization intentions of U.S. adults using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) as a framework. Methods: This mixed-method, cross-sectional study surveyed 899 participants from two independent samples in August and September 2021. Convenience samples of Minnesota State Fair attendees and ResearchMatch volunteers completed electronic surveys to identify the behavioral intention (BI) for teledentistry use within the next 6 months. Independent variables were the UTAUT constructs of performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), social influence (SI), and facilitating conditions (FC). Data were analyzed using univariate analysis and multiple linear regression adjusting for age, gender and educational level. Qualitative analysis used thematic analysis using UTAUT as a coding framework. Results: Univariate analysis showed statistical significance between each construct with BI (P < 0.0001). Adjusted multiple linear regression revealed statistical significance between PE and SI with BI (P < 0.0001). Qualitative responses corroborated quantitative results and revealed a lack of teledentistry knowledge. Conclusion: The majority of participants indicated an intention not to use teledentistry within the next 6 months. The lack of prior experience of telehealth or teledentistry use in addition to lack of knowledge regarding teledentistry may contribute to these results. Future interventions to improve the BI to use teledentistry may benefit from focusing on PE and SI constructs for educational and marketing strategies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The non-specific prescription of antibiotics, especially in dentistry, contributes to the global problem of antimicrobial resistance and highlights the need for education on the proper use and serious consequences of overprescribing these drugs. The main objective of this study is to assess and evaluate antibiotic knowledge and prescribing patterns in dental practice in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia, focusing on understanding the rationale for prescribing, adherence to evidence-based guidelines, and dentists' awareness of antibiotic resistance. Methods: A total of 795 dentists participated in this electronic cross-sectional survey (Croatia N = 336, Bosnia and Herzegovina N = 176, and Serbia N = 283). The study utilized a self-structured questionnaire to collect data on various aspects of antibiotic use, including knowledge, prescribing practices, awareness of guidelines, and demographic and professional information about dentists. Data analysis included the Mann–Whitney test, the Kruskal–Wallis test with post hoc analysis, and chi-square tests, with statistical significance set at p < 0.05. Results: The overall score for the participants' knowledge of antibiotics was 6.40 ± 1.40 out of a maximum of eight points, which indicates a generally good level of knowledge among dentists. Factors such as gender, specialty, and practice location significantly influenced the level of knowledge (p < 0.05). However, actual prescribing practice was a cause for concern. Only 66.1% of Croatian dentists felt they had received adequate training during their studies, and even fewer in Serbia (48.4%) and Bosnia (46.6%). It is noteworthy that 9.7% of dentists in Bosnia and Herzegovina prescribe antibiotics at the request of patients, while 22.3% of Croatian and 25.4% of Serbian dentists do so. Many dentists prescribe no or only one antibiotic per week. In addition, 50.9% of Croatian dentists reported adverse effects related to the use of antibiotics, while only 31.3% of Bosnian and 33.6% of Serbian dentists reported similar experiences. Conclusions: While the study results indicate that dentists in the region generally possess good knowledge of antibiotic use, there are significant discrepancies between this knowledge and actual prescribing practices. Purpose: This research paper aims to evaluate the sustainability knowledge and background of students, staff and faculty regarding current university sustainability practices and individual behaviors at Central Michigan University (CMU); to compare sustainability background and knowledge based on academic discipline of enrollment or employment; and to assess sustainability awareness and interest of the campus community to guide future sustainability initiatives and resources at CMU. Design/methodology/approach: An electronic cross-sectional survey was used to collect anonymous responses through Qualtrics, and then results were analyzed through SPSS. Analyses were performed based on the academic structures at CMU. Findings: This research has found that students in STEM fields are more inclined to have pro-sustainability attitudes, knowledge and behaviors, compared to those studying the arts and business. Additionally, results indicate that there is a significant difference in knowledge between the students, and the staff and faculty respondents regarding sustainability knowledge and application, with the staff and faculty consistently demonstrating more pro-sustainability knowledge and behavior. Originality/value: While research has previously been conducted on sustainability attitudes and behaviors, this research is unique because it ties sustainability knowledge to academic discipline. Additionally, it serves to gauge which sustainability programs and topics members of the campus community are most interested in, and which areas they are most willing to support. The Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System (YRBSS) is a set of surveys that tracks a broad range of behaviors, experiences, and conditions that can lead to poor health among high school students. The system includes a nationally representative Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) and separate school-based YRBSs conducted by states, tribes, territories, and local school districts. For the 2023 national YRBS, CDC made changes to the sampling method, survey administration mode, and questionnaire. Specifically, the sampling design added an American Indian or Alaska Native (AI/AN) supplemental sample so that separate, precise estimates could be made for AI/AN high school students, in addition to the usual sample designed to provide nationally representative data for the population of students in grades 9-12. To decrease the time needed to collect and process data, CDC changed the survey administration mode from paper-and-pencil scannable booklets to a tablet-based electronic survey. To provide national data on topics of emerging interest, CDC added new questions to the questionnaire. These new questions assessed social media use, experiences of racism at school, adverse childhood experiences, transgender identity, consent for sexual contact, and unfair discipline at school. Public health practitioners and researchers can use YRBSS data to examine the prevalence of youth health behaviors, experiences, and conditions; monitor trends; and guide interventions. This overview report describes 2023 YRBSS survey methodology, including sampling, data collection, data processing, weighting, and data analyses. The 2023 YRBS participation map, survey response rates, and a detailed examination of student demographic characteristics are included in this report. During 2023, in addition to the national YRBS, 68 site-level surveys were administered to high school students in 39 states, three tribal governments, five territories, and 21 local school districts. These site-level surveys use site-specific questionnaires that are similar to the national YRBS questionnaire but are modified to meet sites' needs. This overview and methods report is one of 11 featured in this MMWR supplement, which reports results from the 2023 national YRBS but does not include data from the 68 site-level surveys. This study aimed to investigate the impact of socio-psychological factors, such as nationalism, internationalism, collectivism, conservativism, patriotism, and cultural openness, on consumer ethnocentrism and its effect on purchase intentions among South African consumers. A total of 203 responses were collected from South African consumers over the age of 18 through an electronic self-administered survey. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyze the data. The findings revealed that internationalism and conservativism have a significant positive impact on consumer ethnocentrism. Furthermore, consumer ethnocentrism has an influence on purchase intentions. This study contributes to the existing body of knowledge on predicting and understanding consumer preferences and behavioral intentions in developing countries, particularly in relation to purchasing foreign goods versus domestic goods. Background: Weight stigma is prevalent within healthcare settings and is an aspect of the lived experience of people living with obesity. There is international evidence of weight stigma in the dental setting, where currently there is also evidence indicating limited training amongst dental professionals regarding obesity or obesity‐related stigma. There has been Australian research and none have included dental support staff. Aims: This cross‐sectional survey aimed to assess stigmatizing attitudes and beliefs of dental professionals (registered general dentists, oral health therapists) and support staff (dental assistants, dental receptionists) working in private and public regional practices in New South Wales and specialists in Special Needs Dentistry across Australia toward people living with obesity. Methods: An anonymous electronic validated survey was administered through REDCap™ to assess stigmatizing attitudes and beliefs held amongst respondents in relation to people living with obesity. Results: Fifty‐three participants completed the survey (n = 33 clinicians, n = 20 support staff). The majority 47/53 (88.7%) held positive attitudes toward people living with obesity. Of the clinicians, 15/33 (45.5%) reported 1 hour or less and 14/33 (42.4%) reported two to 5 hours of obesity‐related education. 14/20 (70%) of the support staff reported no prior education or training about obesity. Of responses reflecting weight stigma, only three clinicians reported negative reactions toward the appearance, or discomfort during examination, of a patient with obesity, or a perception of laziness, compared with normal weight individuals. A higher proportion 4/20 (20%) of support staff reported responses indicating negative attitudes for people with obesity compared with normal weight individuals. Conclusion: Survey responses reflected evidence of weight stigma in both dental professionals and support staff. Background: Early- to mid-career academics (EMCAs) represent a core component of the Australian higher education workforce. These academics experience major challenges to their wellbeing, driving a strong desire to leave academia. Objectives: Determine (1) EMCA awareness of, and engagement with, previous University- and Faculty-level diversity and inclusion events/initiatives and (2) opportunities and solutions to address previously reported diversity and inclusion issues experienced in the workplace. Methods: 114 EMCAs in medicine, dentistry and health sciences completed an electronic cross-sectional survey. The survey contained a list of University- and Faculty-provided diversity and inclusion initiatives and sought respondent ratings of interest, awareness (knowing/hearing about) and engagement (attending/applying/participating). Two in-person focus groups comprising participants who opted in during the survey or who responded to broader advertising were conducted. Both groups explored opportunities and solutions to address diversity and inclusion issues reported in an earlier organisation-wide survey. Results: Whilst early- and mid-career academics reported high interest in diversity and inclusion events, they also reported limited awareness and engagement with these events, feeling unsupported to engage or perceiving consequences for workload. Focus groups identified five themes related to opportunities and solutions to address diversity and inclusion issues experienced in the workplace (1) enhanced relational support for career progression, (2) clear and transparent processes for efficient working, (3) reducing structural barriers to create opportunity, (4) improved financial renumeration, and (5) improved transitions and pathways. Conclusion: Early- and mid-career academics often felt unable to engage with activities outside of their immediate work responsibilities, such as events about diversity and inclusion, due to feelings of high workload. A systems approach to deploying targeted strategies to address these wellbeing challenges is recommended to sustain and retain this critical workforce. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Participants provided open-text responses in Round 1 describing “clinical practices that can be employed to support to patients presenting with mental health concerns”, and the research team combined these with relevant clinical practices from literature searches. In subsequent rounds, panellists then rated their level of agreement with the combined list of statements; individually (Round 2) and again after seeing the panel’s collated responses (Round 3).Panel experts included 11 patients (adults with hearing loss; Mage 73.8 years) and 14 audiologists (with M 11.8 years of experience working in audiology).Consensus was met for 123 items categorised into: Detection, Education, Effective Communication, Provision of Emotional Support, Personal Qualities and Attitudes of the Audiologist, Interventions, Connecting the Patient to Additional Support Services, Normal Processes that are Especially Important in these Cases, and Organisational Considerations.The study highlights the diversity of approaches audiologists can employ to support patients with mental health concerns. Introduction: Healthcare professionals' shortage, low job satisfaction, high levels of burnout, and excessive staff turnover are some of the challenges health systems face worldwide. In Switzerland, healthcare stakeholders have called to address the health workforce crisis and have pointed out the scarcity of data on the conditions of healthcare professionals (HCPs). Hence, the Swiss Cohort of Healthcare Professionals and Informal Caregivers (SCOHPICA) was developed to study the career trajectories, well-being, intention to stay in or leave the position/profession/health sector, and their determinants, of HCPs and informal caregivers, respectively. This paper describes the protocol for the HCPs cohort of SCOHPICA and discusses its implications. Methods: SCOHPICA is a prospective open cohort using an explanatory sequential mixed methods design. All types of HCPs working directly with patients and practicing in Switzerland are eligible, irrespective of their healthcare setting and employment status. Baseline and annual follow-up electronic surveys will take place once a year, featuring both core questions and modules developed according to information needs. While outcome variables are HCPs' trajectories, well-being, intention to stay in or leave the position/profession/health sector, independent variables include organizational, psychosocial, and psychological determinants, as well as occupational (professional) and sociodemographic factors. The qualitative phase will be organized every two years, inviting participants who agreed to take part in this phase. The findings from quantitative analyses, along with the issues raised by healthcare stakeholders in the field, will guide the topics investigated in the qualitative phase. Discussion: Using innovative methodologies, SCOHPICA will gather nationwide and longitudinal data on HCPs practicing in Switzerland. These data could have numerous implications: promoting the development of research related to HCPs' well-being and retention intentions; supporting the development of policies to improve working conditions and career prospects; contributing to the evolution of training curricula for future or current healthcare professionals; aiding in the development of health systems capable of delivering quality care; and finally, providing the general public and stakeholders with free and open access to the study results through an online dashboard. Background: A surgical team works in a high‐performance environment and is exposed to stress. Mindfulness practice is evidenced to reduce symptoms of stress, as well as burnout, which is high amongst health workers. The operating theatre is unique, with many job‐roles, needs and time‐critical tasks. It is plausible that group mindfulness may benefit the surgical team. This evaluates the take‐5 theatre brief, consisting of a 'check‐in' and short breathwork, when used by two surgical teams as part of the regular theatre team brief. Approach: The take‐5 theatre brief was evaluated using domains of acceptability and implementation. Data were collected at two district general hospitals in the United Kingdom using 5‐point Likert scales hosted on electronic surveys Thematic analysis was performed of participant voice notes, strategic meeting notes and transcripts of interviews between key informants. Evaluation: There were 17 participants. Ten were from site A (59%), with the remainder being from site B (41%) and covered a range of roles within the theatre team. Participants found the take‐5 theatre brief helpful (median Likert 5) and felt that it would benefit themselves (median Likert 5) as well as the team (median Likert 5) and that it fitted into the day easily (median Likert 4). There was a high demand, no financial investment was required and overall it was easy to implement; however, it became challenged in theatre lists that were late to start. Objectives: Describe the characteristics of the different cardiology medical residencies in Latin America. Method: Cross-sectional study that aims to evaluate the characteristics of cardiology residencies in Spanish-speaking countries of Latin America, through self-administered electronic surveys. Results: Three hundred seven residents of 147 residences were surveyed. Mean age was 31 years and 63% were male. Ninety eight percent carry out their training in the capital city. The average total training time is 4.8 years. Forty four percent complete their residency in internal medicine prior to starting cardiology, and 10% have no prior training. In cardiology training is 3 years in most countries. Fifty four percent present academic activities every day and 16% only once or less, consisting of theoretical classes (93%), clinical cases (85%), bibliographic workshops (69%), and writing scientific papers (68%). Supervision is carried out by the chief resident (45%), resident coordinator (44%), resident instructor (27%) or the department head (54%), while 2.6% do not present supervision. The main rotations were echocardiography (99%), hemodynamics (96%), coronary unit (93%), and electrophysiology (92%). Residents highlighted the need to improve academic activities (23%) and scientific production (12%). OBJECTIVES: To define consensus entrustable professional activities (EPAs) for neurocritical care (NCC) advanced practice providers (APPs), establish validity evidence for the EPAs, and evaluate factors that inform entrustment expectations of NCC APP supervisors. DESIGN: A three-round modified Delphi consensus process followed by application of the EQual rubric and assessment of generalizability by clinicians not affiliated with academic medical centers. SETTING: Electronic surveys. SUBJECTS: NCC APPs (n = 18) and physicians (n = 12) in the United States with experience in education scholarship or APP program leadership. INTERVENTIONS: None. MEASUREMENTS AND MAIN RESULTS: The steering committee generated an initial list of 61 possible EPAs. The panel proposed 30 additional EPAs. A total of 47 unique nested EPAs were retained by consensus opinion. The steering committee defined six core EPAs addressing medical knowledge, procedural competencies, and communication proficiency which encompassed the nested EPAs. All core EPAs were retained and subsequently met the previously described cut score for quality and structure using the EQual rubric. Most clinicians who were not affiliated with academic medical centers rated each of the six core EPAs as very important or mandatory. Entrustment expectations did not vary by prespecified groups. CONCLUSIONS: Expert consensus was used to create EPAs for NCC APPs that reached a predefined quality standard and were important to most clinicians in different practice settings. We did not identify variables that significantly predicted entrustment expectations. These EPAs may aid in curricular design for an EPA-based assessment of new NCC APPs and may inform the development of EPAs for APPs in other critical care subspecialties. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective Suboptimal nutritional adherence in adolescents with cystic fibrosis (awCF) has been associated with lower lung function. AwCF often have more independence in dietary decisions than younger children, yet little research has examined how adolescent decision-making relates to nutritional adherence. This study explored whether components of adolescent decision-making involvement facilitate enzyme and caloric adherence in awCF. Methods 37 families participated and completed study procedures. AwCF and caregivers completed electronic surveys, including the Decision-Making Involvement Scale (DMIS). The DMIS evaluated awCF behaviors during nutrition-related decision-making/discussions with caregivers using DMIS subscales: Child Seek (asking for help/advice from caregivers), Child Express (awCF stating opinions) and Joint/Options (awCF participating in joint decision-making or caregiver providing options). AwCF completed 2, 24-hr diet recalls via videoconferencing/phone to estimate adherence. Chart reviews collected medical information. DMIS subscales were regressed onto enzyme and caloric adherence. Results 43% of awCF met calorie recommendations; 48.6% took all enzymes as prescribed. Caloric adherence was positively correlated with adolescent- and parent-reported Child Seek (r  =   0.53; r  =   0.36) and adolescent-reported Joint/Options (r  =   0.41). Per adolescent-report, the caloric adherence regression model was significant, with Child Seek contributing unique variance in caloric adherence (β  = .62, p  = .03). Parent-reported adolescent-decision-making involvement significantly predicted caloric adherence, but none of the subscales contributed unique variance. No other regressions were significant. Conclusions When awCF participated in nutrition-related discussions with a caregiver, especially with questions, caloric adherence was better. Intravenous maintenance fluid therapy (IV-MFT) is probably the most prescribed drug in paediatric hospital care. Recently paediatric societies have produced evidence-based practice guidelines that recommend the use of balanced isotonic fluid when prescribing IV-MFT in both acute and critical paediatric care. Unfortunately, the applicability of these guidelines could be called into question when a ready-to-use glucose-containing balanced isotonic fluid is not available. The main objective of this study was to describe the availability of glucose-containing balanced isotonic fluids in European and Middle Eastern paediatric acute and critical care settings. This work is an ancillary study of the survey dedicated to IV-MFT practices in the paediatric acute and critical care settings in Europe and Middle East, a cross-sectional electronic 27-item survey, emailed in April–May 2021 to paediatric critical care physicians across 34 European and Middle East countries. The survey was developed by an expert multi-professional panel within the European Society of Peadiatric and Neonatal Intensive Care (ESPNIC). Balanced isotonic fluid with glucose 5% was available for only 32/153 (21%) responders. Balanced isotonic fluid with glucose 5% was consistently available in the UK (90%) but not available in France, Greece, The Netherlands and Turkey. Conclusion: Ready-to-use isotonic balanced IV solutions containing glucose in sufficient amount exist but are inconsistently available throughout Europe. National and European Medication Safety Incentives should guarantee the availability of the most appropriate and safest IV-MFT solution for all children. Objective: To ascertain the working patterns of the NHS orthodontic workforce in Wales and any possible future changes. Design: Descriptive cross-sectional survey. Participants: NHS orthodontic practitioners in Wales. Methods: An anonymised email distributed an electronic two-part survey of the Welsh NHS orthodontic workforce. The survey consisted of three sections: (1) demographic information; (2) respondents' working pattern (part 1); and (3) perceptions of professional satisfaction (part 2). Results: Part 1 of the survey yielded a 70.5% response rate (n = 79); 65.8% of the respondents were women. Of the respondents, 45.6% (n = 36) worked full time (F/T), 39.2% (n = 31) worked less than F/T and 15.2% (n = 12) worked more than F/T. Of the male respondents, 81.5% (n = 22) worked 10 sessions or more compared to 50% (n = 26) of women. The respondents undertook 508.5 orthodontic clinical sessions per week within Wales; of these sessions, 87.6% (n = 445.5) delivered NHS orthodontic care. Of the respondents, 8.4% (n = 7) were planning to increase their orthodontic clinical time within the next 2 years, 24.1% (n = 19) were planning to decrease it and 20.3% (n = 16) were unsure. One-quarter of respondents indicated that they were planning to stop clinical orthodontic activity within the next 5 years, including 53.3% (n = 8) of DwSIs, 37% (n = 10) of primary care specialists and 13.3% (n = 2) of consultants. The pandemic was an influencing factor for 80% of these clinicians. Conclusions: Part 1 of the survey suggested that the majority of the orthodontic workforce was female, were working full time or more, and spent most sessions delivering NHS care. Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is the leading cause of preventable death in hospitalized patients. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) can support guidelines recommending an individualized approach to risk assessment and prophylaxis. We conducted electronic surveys asking clinician and healthcare informaticians about their perspectives on AI/ML for VTE prevention and management. Of 101 respondents to the informatician survey, most were 40 years or older, male, clinicians and data scientists, and had performed research on AI/ML. Of the 607 US-based respondents to the clinician survey, most were 40 years or younger, female, physicians, and had never used AI to inform clinical practice. Most informaticians agreed that AI/ML can be used to manage VTE (56.0%). Over one-third were concerned that clinicians would not use the technology (38.9%), but the majority of clinicians believed that AI/ML probably or definitely can help with VTE prevention (70.1%). The most common concern in both groups was a perceived lack of transparency (informaticians 54.4%; clinicians 25.4%). These two surveys revealed that key stakeholders are interested in AI/ML for VTE prevention and management, and identified potential barriers to address prior to implementation. Background: Lipoprotein(a) (Lp(a)) is now established as a causal risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD) and accurate laboratory measurement is of pivotal importance in reducing Lp(a) associated risk. The consensus statement by HEART UK in 2019 included recommendations to improve standardisation of clinical laboratory measurement and reporting of Lp(a). Methods: A 16 question, electronic audit survey was circulated to 190 accredited clinical biochemistry laboratories to assess the adoption of these recommendations in the UK. Results: Responses were received from 65 of 190 laboratories (34%). Only 5 (8%) did not offer Lp(a) measurement. Of those providing the test, 23% (n = 14) offered an in-house service (IHS), the remaining laboratories (77%; n = 46) used an external referral service (ERS). The majority (10 of 14 or 71%) of IHS laboratories responded with details of their method, stating whether it minimised sensitivity to the effect of Lp(a) isoform size and used calibrators certified for traceability to the WHO/IFCC reference material, however, only a minority ERS laboratories (13 of the 46 or 28%) were able to specify the method used by their referral laboratory. Of the laboratories who specified their reporting units, 6 of 10 IHS and 7 of 23 ERS laboratories reported in nmol/L. Among the 60 laboratories who responded, the HEART UK recommendations appear to have been adopted in full by only 3 IHS laboratories. Conclusions: Further efforts are needed to standardise the measurement and reporting of Lp(a) so that results and interpretation are comparable across clinical biochemistry laboratories in the UK. Work carried out at the beginning of this century on improvements in semiconductor materials, transducers, sensors and artificial intelligence algorithms led to the rapid expansion of research topics related to the electronic nose, with diverse applications. Agriculture is a recent application field that needs a review of the usage of electronic noses in this field and the future challenges. The paper provided a bibliometric analysis and review of electronic noses used in agriculture. A search of published works on the e-nose and its applications in agriculture was carried out in the Web of Science and Scopus databases, which provide comprehensive citation data for academic disciplines worldwide. In the end, 2,953 documents were identified, and the data collected was analyzed mainly using the bibliometric toolbox, and then a deep study was carried out. The study results show that in the agricultural field, some works were achieved on different varieties of plants to detect disease or plant damage with very good results using electronic noses. However, less research was carried out to directly identify animals in crops like pests or environmental monitoring using electronic noses in agriculture. The face and nature of the workplace are changing; remote work technologies and the capabilities of artificial intelligence are having a transformative effect on traditional norms of work performance, to which both employees and managers must adapt. The article analyzes the advantages and problems of remote work, its impact on staff turnover and retention, the sources and specifics of industrial stress during remote work, and the problem of environmentalization of workplaces with this format of work organization. The basis of the study was the results of an electronic survey from November 2023 till March 2024 of 40 specialists from the public and private sectors of South Florida (USA) who studied a postgraduate course in personnel management regarding their views, expectations, and preferences for onsite, remote and hybrid workplaces. Respondents gave answers to both closed and open questions to analyze the answers to which content analysis and inductive coding were used. 54% of respondents work in traditional offices, 32% can work remotely, and 14% of respondents have a hybrid work format. Analysis of the answers to the open questions allows us to determine the desired organizational culture format as flexible, remote/hybrid, positive, belonging/inclusive, work-life balance, and employee-oriented. The majority of respondents consider workplace design to be an essential determinant of labor productivity. Technologies for monitoring employees' working hours for office, remote or hybrid work formats are different, and it is necessary to respect the employee's right to privacy (20% of respondents consider regular monitoring appropriate, 50% -- periodic, and 30% consider monitoring inappropriate). Organizations that organize a comfortable format of remote work for their employees are more likely to be able to attract and retain a talented workforce at a lower cost than those that require the presence of employees in the office (over the next decade, only 10% of respondents are willing to prefer working in the office, then as 90% - hybrid or remote work option). Based on the survey results, a list of criteria a company must fulfil to attract and retain talented employees and the characteristics of the most attractive work environment was formulated. This research aims to examine the effect of Organizational Culture and Work Environment on Turnover Intention Mediated by Work Motivation at PT PrimaGraphia Digital. The analytical method utilized Structural Equation Model (SEM) with smartPLS program. Hypoteses were tested using quantitive method based on 100 samples collected using questionnaires distributed by electronic surveys. The results of this research indicate that organizational culture and work environment had an effect on work motivation. Work motivation also influences turnover intention, while organizational culture and work environment have no influence. Objective: Complementary Health Approaches (CHA) are commonly used by children with cancer; however, a few health care providers (HCPs) inquire about the use of CHA. A standardized questionnaire could facilitate such clinical discussions. We aimed to adapt and determine the face and content validity of the "Which Health Approaches and Treatments are you using?" (WHAT) child and parent-report questionnaires in pediatric oncology. Methods: An electronic Delphi survey that included children with cancer (8–18 years), parents, and HCPs and CHA researchers was conducted to reach consensus on the content of the WHAT questionnaires in pediatric oncology. Children and parents from the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), and HCPs and researchers from the International Society of Pediatric Oncology and Pediatric Complementary and Alternative Medicine Research and Education Network completed the survey. To determine the face and content validity of the questionnaires, two iterative cycles of individual interviews were conducted with purposive samples of children (8–18 years), parents, and HCPs from SickKids. Results: Consensus was reached on all domains and items of the original WHAT questionnaires after one Delphi cycle (n = 61). For face and content validity testing, the first cycle of interviews (n = 19) revealed that the questionnaires were mostly comprehensive and relevant. However, the paper-based format of the original WHAT was not user-friendly, and generic items were vague and not aimed at facilitating clinical dialogues about CHA use. The WHAT questionnaires were then modified into electronic cancer-specific self- and proxy-report questionnaires including 13 and 15 items, respectively. The second cycle (n = 21) showed no need for further changes. Conclusions: The modified electronic cancer-specific WHAT questionnaires showed adequate face and content validity. The next step is to determine inter-rater reliability, construct validity, and feasibility of administration of the modified WHAT questionnaires in pediatric oncology. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This Policy Review sourced opinions from experts in cancer care across low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs) to build consensus around high-priority measures of care quality. A comprehensive list of quality indicators in medical, radiation, and surgical oncology was identified from systematic literature reviews. A modified Delphi study consisting of three 90-min workshops and two international electronic surveys integrating a global range of key clinical, policy, and research leaders was used to derive consensus on cancer quality indicators that would be both feasible to collect and were high priority for cancer care systems in LMICs. Workshop participants narrowed the list of 216 quality indicators from the literature review to 34 for inclusion in the subsequent surveys. Experts' responses to the surveys showed consensus around nine high-priority quality indicators for measuring the quality of hospital-based cancer care in LMICs. These quality indicators focus on important processes of care delivery from accurate diagnosis (eg, histologic diagnosis via biopsy and TNM staging) to adequate, timely, and appropriate treatment (eg, completion of radiotherapy and appropriate surgical intervention). Survey fatigue, a phenomenon where respondents lose interest or lack motivation to complete surveys, can undermine rigorously designed studies. Research during the COVID-19 pandemic capitalized on electronic surveys for maximum distribution, but with lower response rates. Additionally, it is unclear how survey fatigue affects surgical education stakeholders. This study aims to determine how response rates to an electronic survey, as a proxy for survey fatigue, differ among medical students (MS), surgery residents, and surgery faculty. Electronic surveys evaluating the surgical clerkship educational environment were distributed to third year MS, residents, and faculty at three academic institutions. Two reminder emails were sent. Groups with low response rates (<30%) received additional prompting. Response rates were compared using a chi-square test. Demographics of all survey respondents were collected and discussed. Baseline characteristics of the MS class, residency program, and Department of Surgery faculty from one institution were gathered and compared to respondents. Surveys were sent to 283 third year MS, 190 surgery residents, and 374 surgical faculty. Response rates were 43%, 27%, and 20%, respectively (P < 0.0001). Male respondents, respondents of color, midlevel residents, and assistant professors had lower response rates compared to the baseline cohort. Our results demonstrate a statistically significant difference in survey response rates among MS, residents, and faculty, and have identified various targets for further investigation. Introduction: A significant gap exists in the understanding and utilization of medical marijuana and its effects on a patient's quality of life. This is largely attributed to Cannabis' sp. Schedule 1 classification, which has impeded the scientific investigation of its effects on the endocannabinoid system (ECS) and quality of life. Additionally, conflicting results from previous studies highlight the need for more research to provide guidance to both patients and clinicians regarding the therapeutic potential of medical marijuana. Methods: Patients over 18 years of age who were members of the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Program (PAMMP) were recruited from regulated Pennsylvania medical marijuana dispensaries. Eligible patients were enrolled through informed consent, following a study design that received approval from the LECOM Institutional Review Board (IRB). Over 90 days, participants were remotely administered an electronic survey every 30 days to collect medical marijuana use patterns and assess changes in quality of life. Results: Of the 103 participants who completed the study, significant improvements were observed in physical and social functioning, emotional well-being, and energy levels within the first 30 days. Participants reported significant decreases in emotional limitations, fatigue, and pain levels. Notably, participants who used inhaled or vaped products (defined as vape cartridges and concentrates) were younger and exhibited a significantly higher increase in emotional well-being scores compared to those who used flower products (defined as dry leaf only). Participants who consumed medical marijuana for opioid use demonstrated significantly higher THC consumption compared to those seeking treatment for anxiety, chronic pain, or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Improvements in the first 30 days also remained constant for the remainder of the study. Discussion: This study contributed valuable insights into the effects of medical marijuana on quality of life and highlighted potential benefits associated with its use. Moreover, ongoing research aims to assess the observed sustained improvements beyond 90 days, investigating potential long-term trends. While further research is needed to explore the underlying mechanisms of action and long-term effects of medical marijuana, clinicians and patients can gain a better understanding of medical marijuana's therapeutic potential, enabling more informed decisions regarding its use in clinical settings. Plain Language Summary: This research looks at the effects of medical marijuana on a patient's quality of life. The study involved 103 participants from Pennsylvania who were using medical marijuana for various health conditions. They answered four surveys over 90 days, reporting on their experiences with marijuana and their well-being. Interestingly, the study found that how often someone used medical marijuana could affect their overall health. Buffer zones are ecotones between upland areas and adjacent water bodies. They often consist of plant communities that stabilize shorelines, act as barriers reducing transport of fertilizer and lawn debris into water bodies, uptake nutrients and heavy metals, and provide habitat for wildlife. Few regulations exist that require vegetated buffers around stormwater ponds, and their widespread implementation has not occurred around ponds in coastal South Carolina. This lack of regulation on buffer requirements has potentially reduced the effectiveness of stormwater ponds and highlights the need to identify barriers preventing residents from implementing vegetated buffers. To investigate the barriers preventing the installation or support for stormwater buffer zones in coastal communities, an electronic survey was sent by e-mail through the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and Ashley Cooper Stormwater Education Consortium listservs. Of the 646 respondents, 382 met the study criteria and identified owning a property with a pond or living in a neighborhood with one. Respondents were asked questions to determine their knowledge and perceptions of vegetated buffers, as well as their level of communication with landscape professionals. Results from this research indicate that residents are aware of the benefits vegetated buffer zones provide and prefer ponds with buffer zones over ponds with no buffer zones. This study reveals the following potential barriers preventing stormwater pond vegetated buffer zones: 1) limited knowledge of the costs associated with installation of vegetated buffer zones, 2) inadequate communication between residents and landscape professionals who maintain ponds, 3) respondents perceived lack of control over pond-related decisions, and 4) social norms within neighborhoods such as grass sod standards and an aversion to non-manicured vegetation. These findings can be used by stormwater professionals to help increase adoption of stormwater pond best management practices (BMPs) and improve water quality protection in South Carolina. Purpose: The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the demographic characteristics of consumers, their knowledge of the concept of CSR and the awareness of CSR activities undertaken by enterprises. This paper intends to examine whether the consumer knows the CSR activities undertaken by PKN ORLEN. Design/methodology/approach: The paper used a survey to assess the consumers' perception of activities undertaken by PKN ORLEN in the area of CSR. The survey was an electronic survey. The questionnaires were administered to consumers from southern Poland. In order to test the hypotheses, cross-tabulation analyzes were performed along with the chi-square test of independence and Mann-Whitney U tests. Findings: The research revealed that demographic characteristics do not influence the knowledge of activities undertaken by PKN Orlen in the area of CSR or the knowledge of the Orlen Foundation run by the surveyed company. The only factor that influences the awareness of CSR activities of the examined company is knowledge of the CSR concept. The results suggest that consumers who have knowledge about CSR are more aware of the activities that companies undertake in this area. It was also identified that the factors influencing knowledge of the CSR concept are gender and level of education, with people who demonstrated higher knowledge of CSR being men and people with university education. Research limitations/implications: The research was conducted on the Polish market, it concerned the activities of a large and very well-known brand in Poland (a multi-industry concern operating, among others, in the fuel and energy industry). The research can be repeated for other brands and other countries. Practical implications: Research results suggest that an important aspect that increases the effectiveness of communication of CSR activities should be the educational aspect in the area of CSR. Originality/value: The article obtained an interesting result that demographic characteristics do not influence customers' knowledge about companies' CSR activities, but the knowledge (understanding) of the CSR concept is such a factor. Objective: To evaluate a health system‐wide intervention distributing free home‐disposal bags to surgery patients prescribed opioids. Data Sources and Study Setting: We collected patient surveys and electronic medical record data at an academic health system. Study Design: We conducted a prospective observational study. The bags were primarily distributed at pharmacies, though pharmacists delivered bags to some patients. The primary outcome was disposal of leftover opioids (effectiveness). Secondary outcomes were patient willingness to dispose and factors associated with disposal (effectiveness), recalling receipt of the bag (reach), and recalling receipt of bags and disposal over time (maintenance). We used a modified Poisson regression to evaluate the relative risk of disposal. Inverse probability of treatment weighting, based on propensity scores, was used to account for differences between survey responders and non‐responders and reduce nonresponse bias. Data Collection/Extraction Methods: From August 2020 to May 2021, we surveyed patients 2 weeks after discharge (allowing for home opioid use). Eligibility criteria were age ≥18, English being primary language, valid email address, hospitalization ≤30 days, discharge home, and an opioid prescription sent to a system pharmacy. Principal Findings: We identified 5134 patients with 2174 completing the survey (response rate 42.3%). Among respondents, 1375 (63.8%) recalled receiving the disposal bag. Among 1075 respondents with leftover opioids, 284 (26.4%) disposed, 552 (51.3%) planned to dispose, 79 (7.4%) did not plan to dispose, 69 (6.4%) had undecided, and 91 (8.5%) had not considered disposal. Recalling receipt of the bag (incidence rate ratio [IRR] 1.25, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.13–1.37) was positively associated with disposal. Patients who used opioids in the last year were less likely to dispose (IRR 0.82, 95% CI 0.73–0.93). Disposal rates remained stable over the study period while recalling receipt of bags trended up. Conclusions: A pragmatic implementation of a disposal intervention resulted in lower disposal rates than prior trials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Campus carry has become an important issue in higher education. This study examines how stakeholder attitudes changed in the period following the legalization of campus carry in one rural state. The data for the study were drawn from two electronic surveys administered to separate random samples of students, faculty, and staff at one university in 2015 and 2018. This study addresses two research questions. Do patterns in attitudes toward concealed campus carry change over time in the period following the legalization of campus carry? Do the predictors of support for campus carry change over time? The results suggest that support for concealed carry was higher among students than faculty, staff, and other nonfaculty professional across both time periods. Background: Otorhinolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery consists of different sub-specialties, each comprising unique characteristics and challenges. Herein, we investigate the use of a uniform national electronic questionnaire for curriculum planning. Main outcome measures: (1) Analyze the residents' perception of the different sub-specialties training programs and their competence capabilities. (2) Identify sub-specialties requiring attention. (3) Investigate the characteristics associated with competence perception. Methods: This is a national cross sectional study. An anonymous electronic questionnaire was emailed to all registered Otorhinolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery residents. Results: 63.5% registered residents responded to the questionnaire. Two sub-specialties, Rhinology and Laryngology, are located in the extremities of the residents' perceptions of competence and training (p < 0.0001), despite similar complexity perception (means 6.10 and 6.01, respectively). Rhinology is perceived as the most well-trained sub-specialty, both surgically and clinically (means 7.08 and 7.66, respectively), whereas Laryngology is bottom scaled (means 5.16 and 6.14, respectively). The same is true for perceived competence, surgical and clinical, in Rhinology (means 6.80 and 8.02, respectively) compared to Laryngology (means 5.04 and 6.75, respectively). Significant positive correlations were found between training, competence perception and workload ("golden training triangle"). Conclusions: Each ORL-HNS sub-specialty comprises different characteristics and a different learning curve, necessitating a tailored training program. Recognizing its sub-specialties distinctive features may assist in establishment of better-adapted learning curves in residency programs. Herein, we examine the use of anonymous electronic national survey. Laryngology, bottom ranked, is a prototype of a relatively new surgical discipline. Rhinology, ranked top by the residents, is an exemplar of a sub-specialty with an optimal 'educational environment'. Moreover, we have established golden training triangle, implicating, highlights the essential role of institutional and senior staff for proper residency teaching. As the majority of antimicrobial treatments for cattle in Japan are prescribed by veterinarians, medical record information can be useful in clarifying the amount and purpose of antimicrobial use. In this study, we examined their amount and purpose in cattle practices in Gifu Prefecture. In cattle, approximately 85% of the antimicrobials are used for the treatment of gastrointestinal (50.4%) and respiratory diseases (34.4%). The main antimicrobials were sulfonamides (27.1 kg, 49.2%), followed by amphenicols (11.9 kg, 21.7%). As for second-line antimicrobials for veterinary treatment, fluoroquinolones, a third-generation cephalosporins, and 15 membered-ring macrolides, accounted for 5.6%, 0.1%, and 0.9% of all antimicrobials, respectively. The Job Demands-Resources Framework (JDR) has established job- and personal resources as essential elements motivating people to perform. Whilst the purpose of job resources in this motivational process is well established, the role of personal resources is still quite ambiguous. Within the JDR framework, personal resources could (a) directly affect performance, (b) indirectly affect the relationship between a job resource and a performance outcome and (c) moderate the job resource-performance relationship. Grit has recently emerged as a promising personal resource as it could potentially act as a direct antecedent-, mediator and moderator within the motivational process of the JDR. To further the debate on the role of personal resources, this paper explores the function of grit (as a personal resource) within the person-environment fit (job resource) and task performance relationship. Specifically, the aim is to determine if grit directly or indirectly affects the relationship between person-environment fit and task performance. Finally, it aims to investigate whether grit moderates this relationship. Data were collected from 310 working adults through electronic surveys, and the relationships were explored through structural equation modelling. When controlling for age and gender, the results showed a positive association between person-environment fit, grit and task performance. Further, grit was also found to indirectly affect the relationship between the person-environment fit and task performance. However, no moderating effect could be established. This signifies the importance of grit as a psychological process, rather than a buffering element that may explain how person-environment fit affects performance outcomes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Previous studies suggested that patients with epilepsy might be able to forecast their own seizures. This study aimed to assess the relationships between premonitory symptoms, perceived seizure risk, and future and recent self‐reported and electroencephalographically (EEG)‐confirmed seizures in ambulatory patients with epilepsy in their natural home environments. Methods: Long‐term e‐surveys were collected from patients with and without concurrent EEG recordings. Information obtained from the e‐surveys included medication adherence, sleep quality, mood, stress, perceived seizure risk, and seizure occurrences preceding the survey. EEG seizures were identified. Univariate and multivariate generalized linear mixed‐effect regression models were used to estimate odds ratios (ORs) for the assessment of the relationships. Results were compared with the seizure forecasting classifiers and device forecasting literature using a mathematical formula converting OR to equivalent area under the curve (AUC). Results: Fifty‐four subjects returned 10 269 e‐survey entries, with four subjects acquiring concurrent EEG recordings. Univariate analysis revealed that increased stress (OR = 2.01, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.12–3.61, AUC =.61, p =.02) was associated with increased relative odds of future self‐reported seizures. Multivariate analysis showed that previous self‐reported seizures (OR = 5.37, 95% CI = 3.53–8.16, AUC =.76, p <.001) were most strongly associated with future self‐reported seizures, and high perceived seizure risk (OR = 3.34, 95% CI = 1.87–5.95, AUC =.69, p <.001) remained significant when prior self‐reported seizures were added to the model. No correlation with medication adherence was found. No significant association was found between e‐survey responses and subsequent EEG seizures. Significance: Our results suggest that patients may tend to self‐forecast seizures that occur in sequential groupings and that low mood and increased stress may be the result of previous seizures rather than independent premonitory symptoms. Patients in the small cohort with concurrent EEG showed no ability to self‐predict EEG seizures. Background: Endocrinology has been a popular choice of super-specialisation in India in recent years. The PURsuit of Endocrinology (PURE) survey aims to determine the factors that facilitated the selection of endocrinology as the area of super-specialisation among first-year residents across India. Methods: We conducted an electronic questionnaire-based survey among first-year residents across India. The questionnaire evaluated the respondents' demographics, feeder speciality, challenges during preparation, factors influencing endocrinology as a career preference, unappealing aspects of the subject and future career plans. Results: A total of 81 (43 males and 38 females) responses were recorded. The mean age was 31.3 ± 3.3 years, with 63% married. Internal medicine was the feeder speciality in 92.5% of cases. Work–life balance was the critical consideration for pursuing endocrinology in 91.4%, followed by professional satisfaction (64.2%) and the scope of having a solo practice (43.2%). Interestingly, there was less emphasis on monetary satisfaction (12.3%). Almost half of the respondents intended to practice in a government academic institution (46.9%) or in an independent set-up (45.7%). Conclusions: The PURE survey suggests that work–life balance and professional satisfaction are the key driving factors behind the choice of endocrinology. An increasing interest among the residents to join as faculty in academic institutions, apart from having self-owned private clinics, is a welcome finding. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The main purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship between Total Quality Management (TQM) success factors implementation and the employees' job performance of an oil company located in the province of Batangas, Philippines in order to propose TQM strategies that could further sustain the implementation of the practices. The 100 employees selected through purposive sampling are the participants of the study. The validated questionnaire was administered through electronic data surveying. Data were statistically treated with the techniques used such as measure of central tendency to determine the participants' demographic profile, assessment of the TQM success factors and the effect of TQM to the employees' job performance, and Pearson correlation coefficient to determine the relationship between the implementation of TQM success factors and employee job performance. The results indicated that employees strongly agree that all the eight success factors of TQM are visibly implemented in the company. Among the eight success factors, it is training and development, quality culture and customer focus which garnered the highest ratings. For the effect of TQM in the job performance, it was revealed that the employees consider the TQM implementation with respect to doing their excellent performance in their jobs. Lastly, there is a significant relationship between the implementation of TQM success factors and employee job performance. This findings give an implication that oil companies may consider the full implementation and decide on proper application of the success factors to their organization as these are significantly affecting the job performance of the employees. Agricultural technologies (agri-techs) have focused on developing the AI perspective of human-AI interaction rather than human perceptions and responses. A lack of understanding of their employees' behavioral responses when interacting with advanced technologies can lead to unexpected problems in the future. Drawing on the theoretical perspective of advanced user engagement, this paper examines the impact of five different technostressors on user engagement and, consequently, user experience. For data collection, 464 participants from the U.S. and Asian (Singaporean) agri-tech sectors were interviewed via an electronic survey. The U.S. study showed that techno-overload, techno-complexity, and techno-uncertainty were positively related to user engagement (t = 2.609; t = 6.998, and t = 6.013, respectively), whereas techno-invasion and techno-uncertainty were negatively correlated with user engagement (t = –2.167 and t = –3.119, respectively). The Singapore study showed that techno-overload, techno-complexity, and techno-invasion were negatively related to user engagement (t = –2.185, t = –2.765; t = –5.062, respectively), while techno-insecurity and techno-uncertainty surprisingly showed nonlinear correlations with user engagement. In both studies, user engagement is positively related to user experience (t = 2.009 for the U.S. study and t = 2.887 for the Singapore study). First, this paper provides agri-techs with a modern framework to better predict the behavioral responses of their employees when managing AI. The investment policy applied by seaport authorities has a great impact on the state of the natural environment in coastal regions. Unfortunately, in many cases, their environmental efforts are limited to the issues which are defined by the applicable legal regulations determined by International Maritime Organization, the Organization of United Nations and the European Commission etc. However, in recent years we can observe significant improvement in this area, especially in the seaports of Northern Europe. They often decide on highly capital-intensive pro-ecological investments allowing to reduce the level of pollution emitted from cruise ships during their handling in ports, such as e. g. the opportunity of connecting vessels to the shore-side energy supply systems. Various solutions in this area are currently used in the world. The ports in Northern Europe are currently the leaders in this area. The use of such solutions is cost-intensive, but it significantly reduces the level of pollution emitted by ships into the environment, and the level of noise and vibration caused by engines. This paper aims to assess the seaports' involvement in Northern Europe in the preparation of seaport infrastructure enabling cruise ships to be connected to the onshore power supply systems. The article contains the results of surveys conducted with the use of two methods to adjust the research technique to the respondents' needs, i.e. CASI (Computer-Assisted Self Interviewing) and EMS (Electronic Mail Survey). The majority of educational systems worldwide have shifted to remote learning as a preventative strategy against the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). This phenomenon is producing a lot of difficulties, as articulated by students in developing nations. Thus, this qualitative study sought to explore and understand the difficulties encountered by college students in Quirino State University in Philippines under the new normal of education. A total of 85 participants were purposely and conveniently selected to participate in an electronic survey through Google Forms. Further, to qualify and clarify responses from the respondents, the researchers conducted phone call interviews. The data were evaluated qualitatively using the NVIVO software. The findings revealed that the student's difficulties in the new normal can be summed in 10 significant themes, namely: i) Vague module content; ii) Poor internet connectivity; iii) Lack of teacher's guidance and motivation; iv) Financial problems; v) Stress/psychological pressure; vi) Insufficient learning materials; vii) Overloaded academic activities; viii) Conflict with household chores; ix) Personal factors; and x) Poor and inadequate learning environment. On the other hand, students' coping strategies had four major themes, namely: i) Managing time wisely; ii) Having self-discipline; iii) Taking time for a break; and iv) Seeking help from others. Equity, diversity, and inclusion strategies promote a positive and healthy environment in which to work and learn. We evaluated the sociodemographic characteristics and lived experiences of radiation oncology residents and fellows in Canada. Following a literature review and input from content and methodological experts, an ethics-approved survey was created in English and French. The survey included 56 items under the following categories: Sociodemographics, Job Perceptions, Mentorship, Academics, Discrimination and Harassment. Electronic surveys (N = 177) were distributed via email to all Canadian radiation oncology residents/fellows using a data collection web application. Descriptive statistics summarized survey responses. Comparisons between categorical groups were performed using Chi-square and Fisher's exact tests. Univariable logistic regression identified factors associated with respondents considering transferring to a different training program. Between July and December 2023, 98 trainees responded (56% response rate). Of these, 70% were residents, 29% were International Medical Graduates (of which 86% were fellows), 83% were 25-34 years old, 52% self-reported as male, 61% as a visible minority, 10% as 2SLGBTQIA+, 3% as a gender minority (e.g. non-binary), and 4% with a disability. The majority reported satisfaction with their training program (83%; 78/94) and a respectful workplace culture (69%; 64/93). However, 40% (37/92) reported they have considered transferring to a different training program. Factors associated with an increased likelihood of considering transfer were dissatisfaction with current mentorship (p = 0.002), perceived equity and diversity obstacles (p = 0.028), and personal experience with discrimination (p = 0.025) or harassment (p = 0.049). At least one episode of discrimination during training was reported by 38% (28/75), primarily due to gender (16%; 16/98) and race (15%; 15/98). At least one episode of harassment was reported by 18% (18/98), most commonly by a patient/family member (9%; 9/98). Less than half (45%) felt comfortable reporting discrimination/harassment. Women were more likely to feel under-represented in their training program (46% vs. 13%, p = 0.001) and perceived more discrimination events (64% vs. 19%, p<0.001), whereas male respondents felt more comfortable reporting harassment incidents (60% vs. 26%, p = 0.01). Harassment events were more commonly perceived by Canadian medical graduates than International medical graduates (26% vs. 0%, p<0.001). We clarified the current representation of select sociodemographic groups within Canadian radiation oncology training programs. Although the majority reported satisfaction and a respectful culture within their programs, key differences between groups were observed, including experiences with discrimination and harassment. African radiotherapy access is insufficient to meet population needs. Inadequate staffing for contouring and treatment planning is one key barrier to meeting the radiotherapy demand. One possible solution to augment the existing workforce is the Radiation Planning Assistant (RPA), an automated contouring and planning web-based platform being offered without cost for breast, cervix, head and neck and whole brain radiotherapy. We sought to characterize 1) current allocation of skilled workers for contouring and treatment planning, and 2) perceptions regarding barriers and facilitators to RPA implementation. A survey captured information about demographics, current clinic workflow, perceptions of barriers and facilitators about the RPA, and an abridged version of the Organizational Readiness for Change Assessment (ORCA). It was distributed at the African Organisation for Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC) Conference in November 2023. Electronic surveys were distributed via networking at the conference and a QR code after a relevant oral presentation. The survey link was also sent through existing collaborative networks on the African continent. A total of 24 respondents practicing in 15 radiotherapy centers across 9 African countries completed the survey. Most respondents were practicing in public centers (n = 16, 67%). Twelve (50%) respondents were consultant physicians, three (13%) were physician trainees, six (25%) were physicists, and three (13%) were radiation therapists. Providers involved in contouring under routine conditions were physicians (100%), physicists (22%), radiation therapists (17%), and automated software (13%). Treatment planning was performed by physicists (87%), radiation therapists (30%), physicians (17%), and dosimetrists (13%). At least 85% (n = 21) of providers identified decreased workload, decreased planning time, improved treatment plans, and increased consistency as facilitating factors for implementation. Two thirds of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that internet connection and a paid subscription would be significant barriers to implementation. Other barriers included power outages (46%), need for additional training (46%), and need for contouring/planning of other disease sites (46%). All respondents (100%) wanted to use the RPA and most (88%) believed they could implement the RPA in their center in the next 6 months. On abbreviated ORCA questionnaire, 92% agreed or strongly agreed that there was sufficient evidence for the RPA to be used clinically. Among a diverse set of providers from across Africa, most contours are done by physicians and most treatment plans are made by physicists. Introduction: Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a complex neurobiological disorder that affects children and is characterized by lack of attention, impulsive behavior, and hyperactivity. Through this study, we measured the level of perception of dentists to ADHD. Methodology: A survey questionnaire was sent to 380 IDA members in the Gujarat branch as part of a cross-sectional study. The first part of the survey includes demographic data about the participants, then questions about ADHD knowledge and management. The data were uploaded into a computer and evaluated with SPSS software. The level of significance was set at P = 0.05, and any value below or equal to 0.05 was deemed statistically significant. Results: The participants had a good knowledge of ADHD; however, dental practitioners need to be more aware of dealing with such patients. The majority of participants lacked the necessary expertise to treat them, but they were still ready to provide dental treatment to people with ADHD as part of their dental practice. There was a significant correlation between work experience and years of practice. Conclusion: Appropriate training should be provided to dentists so they can treat patients with ADHD. To raise dentists' understanding of ADHD, well-planned programs and explicit policies should be developed using the current findings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: An estimated 39,010 Indiana residents were diagnosed with cancer in 2021. To address the cancer burden, Project ECHO (Extension Community Healthcare Outcomes) was launched in 2019 in Indiana to build specialty healthcare capacity among non‐specialists. Due to positive outcomes from the pilot year, the Cancer Prevention, Screening, and Survivorship ECHO was implemented for a second year. The purpose of this study was to measure the participation and regional impact of this ECHO. Methods: ECHO sessions occurred twice monthly from October 2020 to October 2021. Changes were implemented in response to feedback from the pilot year, including making the curriculum more practical for learners and adding accreditation opportunities. Participant information and feedback was extracted from electronic surveys for review. Results: There were 24 ECHO sessions with 213 unique participants, increased from 140 unique participants in the pilot year. An average of 23.5 individuals attended each session, increased from 15.5 individuals per session. Enrolled participants served in a diverse set of roles and represented 247 zip codes, 30 Indiana counties, and 32 states across the United States, each of which increased from the pilot year. Discussion: In this second year, this ECHO expanded to reach more participants with increased attendance and a more diverse distribution of roles within healthcare, which may be attributed to feedback‐driven curriculum design. Cancer care is multi‐disciplinary, with health educators, nurses, and administrators, each acting within the cancer care continuum. As a result, this ECHO has been adapted to serve an increasingly broad distribution of professionals. Conclusion: The second year of the Cancer Prevention, Screening, and Survivorship ECHO displayed increased overall enrollment and participation, greater diversity among participant roles, and a wider reach across Indiana and the United States. Background: It is often difficult for clinicians in African low- and middle-income countries middle-income countries to access useful aggregated data to identify areas for quality improvement. The aim of this Delphi study was to develop a standardised perioperative dataset for use in a registry. Methods: A Delphi method was followed to achieve consensus on the data points to include in a minimum perioperative dataset. The study consisted of two electronic surveys, followed by an online discussion and a final electronic survey (four Rounds). Results: Forty-one members of the African Perioperative Research Group participated in the process. Forty data points were deemed important and feasible to include in a minimum dataset for electronic capturing during the perioperative workflow by clinicians. A smaller dataset consisting of eight variables to define risk-adjusted perioperative mortality rate was also described. Conclusions: The minimum perioperative dataset can be used in a collaborative effort to establish a resource accessible to African clinicians in improving quality of care. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Recent data describing gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms experienced by patients after bariatric surgery is lacking, and previous studies in sleeve gastrectomy patients have been limited in scope of follow-up time or extent of GI symptoms examined. We sought to characterize the prevalence and time course of patient-reported eating-related symptoms in sleeve gastrectomy patients. Methods: From July 2020 to July 2021, sleeve gastrectomy patients seen at three Boston area hospitals received electronic surveys and prospectively reported GI symptoms using the BODY-Q eating-related symptoms scale. Descriptive analyses were performed for patient demographics and symptom prevalence. Chi-square tests were used to compare prevalence of eating-related symptoms between follow-up time intervals. Results: 491 sleeve gastrectomy patients completed postoperative surveys with mean follow-up time of 1.9 years. Mean age was 46.6 years, and 81.3% were female. The most reported GI symptoms overall included constipation (56.6%), bloating (54.0%), heartburn when standing (41.5%), and heartburn when lying down (39.9%) while the least commonly reported symptoms were palpitations (16.3%), low blood sugar (15.7%), and emesis (15.1%). At greater than 12 months, the most reported symptoms similarly included bloating (60.3%), constipation (53.2%), and heartburn while standing (46.0%). When comparing prevalence of eating-related symptoms across follow-up time intervals from < 1 to > 12 months, patients reported a significant decrease in constipation, abdominal pain, and nausea over time (p = 0.012, p <.0001, p = 0.03, respectively). Conclusion: Patients experience both upper and lower GI symptoms following sleeve gastrectomy, and symptoms, including bloating, constipation, and heartburn may persist through long-term follow-up. These patient-centered measures add value by guiding preoperative counseling, informing postoperative expectations, and providing real-time clinical feedback for bariatric surgery patients.
