Introduction. Recently, photovoltaic (PV) systems are increasingly favored for converting solar energy into electricity. PV power systems have successfully evolved from small, standalone installations to large-scale, grid-connected systems. When the nonlinear loads are connected to a grid-tied PV system, the power quality can deteriorate due to the active power supplied by the PV array, there’s a noticeable decline in the quality of power delivered to consumers. Its combination with the shunt active power filter (SAPF) enhances system efficiency. Consequently, this integrated system is adept at not only powering local loads but also at compensating for reactive power and filtering out harmonic currents from the main grid. The novelty of the work describes how an operation of a small scale PV system connected to the low voltage distribution system, and nonlinear load can be achieved, the investigation aims to analyze the system’s behavior and elucidate the advantages of employing various control algorithms. These proposed algorithms are designed to ensure a unity power factor for the utility grid while prioritizing high convergence speed and robustness against load power fluctuations across different levels of solar irradiation affecting the PV modules. The purpose of this work is to enhance the dynamic performance of the SAPF by cooperatively using a self-tuning filter (STF) based instantaneous active and reactive power method (PQ) with a novel predictive current control, enhance the system resilience, ensure optimal management of the total active power between the PV system, the electrical network and the non-linear load by integrating the functionalities of the SAPF under different levels of solar irradiation and maintain the DC-link capacitor voltage constant. Methods. A novel predictive current controller is designed to generate the switching signals piloted the three phase source voltage inverter, also a novel algorithm of instantaneous active and reactive power is developed, based on STF, to extract accurately the harmonic reference under non ideal grid voltage, also the perturb and observe algorithm is used to extract, under step change of solar irradiation, the maximum power point tracking of the PV module and the PI controller is used to maintain constant the DC-link capacitor voltage of the SAPF. Results. The efficacy of the proposed system is primarily centered on the grid side, and the performance evaluation of the control system is conducted using the STF based PQ algorithm and predictive current control. In addition, comprehensive testing encompasses all modes of operation, including scenarios involving distorted voltage sources, step changes in solar radiation, and variations in nonlinear loads. Results highlight superior performance in both transient and stable states, affirming the robustness and effectiveness of the proposed controllers. Practical value. ABSTRACT Power quality improvement in grid‐tied solar photovoltaic (PV) system is one of the emergent current research trends. To address the power quality concern, shunt active power filters (SAPF) are widely deployed and researched in grid‐tied PV systems. This paper presents a simplified adaptive transversal (SAT)‐filter control scheme for the two‐stage PV‐SAPF system. The proposed control has the ability to improve different power quality indices. Also, it features faster operation under steady‐state and under dynamic conditions, better dc‐offset rejection ability due to estimation of the accurate fundamental component of the load current. To justify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme, a thorough comparison is carried out with different conventional and adaptive control schemes. Simulations and extensive experimental analysis are carried out under severe transient conditions such as balanced‐unbalanced supply, sudden load, and irradiation change scenario. These days, because power quality (PQ) issues are costing industrial customers a lot of money, both electrical utilities and end-users are paying a lot of attention to them. The most significant and frequent PQ concerns for sensitive loads are voltage sag and swell. This manuscript proposes an optimization technique for enhancing the control system of a unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) connected solar photovoltaic system in the distributed generation system. The proposed strategy is the archerfish hunting optimizer (AHO). The objective of the AHO approach is to optimizing UPQC operation in distribution systems, focusing on targeted power quality enhancement. The optimal control pulses are produced by the series active power filter and the shunt active power filter, depending on the load-side and source circumstances. During the load variation states the AHO technique manages the power loss, total harmonic distortion (THD), and voltage instability issue respectively. The performance of the AHO methodology is carried out on the MATLAB platform and compared with existing methods, like particle swarm optimization (PSO), latent semantic analysis (LSA), and ant-lion optimizer (ALO). The existing methods THD are 6.35%, 7.85%, and 9.19%. The proposed method of THD is 4.22%. The static frequency converter (SFC) in a pumped storage power plant often causes harmonic problems in the dragging processes, which may lead to the false operation of automatic devices in the power station, and even damage to the power equipment. These harmonics caused by SFC contain both characteristic and non‐characteristic degrees, and the components are more complex. Hence, the existing harmonic suppression methods using active power filter or passive power filter compensation all have some problems. The SFC starting control strategy based on linear active disturbance rejection control (LADRC) is proposed here to reduce the non‐characteristic harmonics. First, the factors affecting the non‐characteristic harmonic content are analysed, and a mathematical model of the conventional SFC starting transfer function is established. On this basis, the LADRC controller is used as the speed loop of SFC starting to replace the proportional integral (PI) controller. The stability is judged by drawing the Bode plot and the zero‐pole plot. Finally, a Matlab/Simulink simulation model of LADRC‐based SFC starting is established in a pumped storage power plant with actual parameters, and simulation accurate measurements verify the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy for non‐characteristic harmonic current suppression. In this study, we propose a CNN-GAN-based real-time processing technique for filtering images of underwater cables used in power systems. This addresses the excessive interference impurities that are frequently observed in images captured by remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). The process begins with the input of the original image into the convolutional neural network (CNN). Subsequently, the training outcomes, which serve as input parameters for the generative adversarial network (GAN), facilitate the filtering process. The system also calculates both the structural similarity index measure (SSIM) and peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), performing model updates via backward propagation. This technique utilizes deep learning technologies to achieve rapid, real-time filtering of underwater cable images. The experimental results reveal that the loss function of the CNN reaches 0.16 with an accuracy of 97.5%, while the loss function of the adversarial GAN network approaches 0.05. Compared with traditional methods such as DDN, JORDOR, RESCAN, and PRENet, the proposed CNN-GAN algorithm exhibits superior performance, as evidenced by the higher PSNR and SSIM values. Specifically, for clear water images, the PSNR reaches 29.86 dB and the SSIM is 0.9045. For severely polluted images, the PSNR is 28.67 dB and the SSIM is 0.8965, while for unevenly illuminated images, the PSNR and SSIM values are 24.37 dB and 0.88, respectively. In the paper, a wideband four-way filtering power divider with arbitrary power division ratio and input absorptive feature is proposed. Two sets of coupled lines (CLs) are used to achieve the wideband performance. To obtain absorptive properties, a set of T-type absorption structure consisting of two isolation resistors and a λ/4 short-circuit stub is connected between the two CLs. Meanwhile, high frequency selectivity and good out-of-band rejection are realized by introducing two stepped-impedance resonators. Besides, output impedance matching, isolation, and unequal power distribution are achieved by the power division section in the second stage. In the analysis, the equations are derived by using the method of even-odd mode decomposition and voltage-current method. For demonstration, a prototype is designed, fabricated, and measured with the power distribution ratio of 2 : 1 : 1 : 2. Measurements show that an allfrequency band absorption of 200% is obtained with the 3-dB passband bandwidth of 78.1% and out-of-band rejection of 14 dB. Renewable energy sources are playing a leading role in today's world. However, integrating these sources into the distribution network through power electronic devices can lead to power quality (PQ) challenges. This work addresses PQ issues by utilizing a shunt active power filter in combination with an Energy Storage System (ESS), a Wind Energy Generation System (WEGS), and a Solar Energy System. While most previous research has relied on complex methods like the synchronous reference frame (SRF) and active-reactive power (pq) approaches, this work proposes a simplified approach by using a neural network (NN) for generating reference signals, along with the design of a five-level reduced switch voltage source converter. The gain values of the proportional-integral controller (PIC), as well as the parameters for the shunt filter, boost, and buck-boost converters in the WEGS and ESS, are optimally selected using the horse herd optimization algorithm. Additionally, the weights and biases for the neural network (NN) are also determined using this method. The proposed system aims to achieve three key objectives: (1) stabilizing the voltage across the DC bus capacitor; (2) reducing total harmonic distortion (THD) and improving the power factor; and (3) ensuring superior performance under varying demand and PV irradiation conditions. The system's effectiveness is evaluated through three different testing scenarios, with results compared against those obtained using the genetic algorithm, biogeography-based optimization (BBO), as well as conventional SRF and pq methods with PIC. The results clearly demonstrate that the proposed method achieves THD values of 3.69%, 3.76%, and 4.0%, which are lower than those of the other techniques and well within IEEE standards. In this paper, a coupled‐line‐based wideband four‐way filtering power divider (FPD) with unequal power division is presented. It is composed of three groups of coupled lines (CLs), four types of open‐ended stubs, and three kinds of resistors. By setting the CLs in each group with different parameters, unequal power distribution is obtained. Besides, open‐ended stubs with different characteristic impedances are inserted to each output port to generate two extra transmission zeros, at the same time maintaining good impedance matchings. Resistors are inserted to each group of the CLs to improve the isolations. By applying twice parity mode analysis, the exact synthesis of the proposed FPD is first derived. For demonstration, a prototype with power division ratio of 1:1.2:1.5:1.8 is designed and manufactured. Measurement results verified that more than 60% fractional bandwidth (FBW) is obtained under the criterion of 10 dB return loss and 10 dB isolation. Besides, the 3 dB passband FBWs for the four outputs reach 70% with high frequency selectivity and low insertion loss. Summary: Problems like intermittent photovoltaic (PV) power, disconnected PV arrays, etc. are brought on by the extensive integration of PV generation. In this article, a single‐stage PV‐integrated grid‐tethered system is controlled using a reconfigurative multiple random features kernel mean p‐power (MRFKMP) control algorithm. The algorithm circumvents the dependence of kernel parameter in the classic random Fourier features mapping and lower the computing complexity in the traditional multiple kernel learning adaptive filter. MRFKMP algorithm with a linear filter structure can reduce both the computational and storage cost. This is the novel application of MRFKMP algorithm to extract fundamental component of nonlinear load currents in PV‐integrated grid‐tied system. Furthermore, to increase the reliability of the system, a reconfigurable control is developed, which adaptive regulates DC link voltage from PV mode (PVM) during PV hours to active power filtering mode (AFM) during PV nonavailability/PV disconnection. On a created laboratory testbed, the applied control's practical feasibility for numerous scenarios is evaluated. Comparison with existing control algorithms reveals that the MRFKMP controller outperforms the LMF based PV system by 79% less peak‐to‐peak load current ripple and 60% less than the best performing SRF control algorithm. This paper proposes a novel power-factor-correction system for the harmonic suppression of high-power equipment. It connects a PWM (pulse width modulation) rectifier and several uncontrolled diode rectifier units in parallel. The PWM rectifier is not connected to the load, and the power of the IGBT device is lower than that of the traditional PWM rectifier. The diode rectifier unit is connected in parallel without the loop current, which is convenient for expansion. The diode rectifier unit can still work when the IGBT fails, which enables high reliability. When compared to conventional APFs (active power filters), the proposed system only controls the grid current as a sinusoidal wave at the power frequency, without tracking harmonics, which makes the control simpler and the current THD (total harmonic distortion) lower. In this paper, the operating modes of the proposed parallel system are analyzed and the mathematical model of the circuit is derived. In addition, the corresponding control strategy is proposed and the parameters of the LCL are designed. Finally, simulations were carried out to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed parallel system when compared with the traditional APF, and a 60 kW experimental platform was built to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed scheme. Active power filters (APFs) play a vital role in reducing the current harmonics and improving power quality. This work studies a shunt APF (SAPF) based on the threephase voltage source converter (VSC). This paper investigates the new robust control approach using error dynamics. Stable first-order error dynamics are considered when designing the control inputs. Three control inputs are obtained to control the currents at any phase by choosing and optimizing the appropriate parameters. This strategy is also simple to implement in practical applications because it is the same as the proportionalderivative controller design. In addition, the new control method can be utilized for any system with low dynamic information so that the destructive effects of lumped uncertainties in the output channels of the SAPF can be alleviated. The minimum voltage and current measurements are used to control the SAPF, and the grid current harmonics will be reduced by achieving the stabilization of tracking error dynamics. Ultrasound B-scan images are traditionally formed from the envelope of the received radiofrequency echoes, but the image texture is dominated by granular speckle patterns. Longstanding efforts at speckle reduction and deconvolution have been developed to lessen the detrimental aspects of speckle. However, we now propose an alternative approach to estimation (and image rendering) of the underlying fine grain scattering density of tissues based on power law constraints. The key steps are a whitening of the spectrum of the received signal while conforming to the original envelope shape and statistics, followed by a power law filtering in accordance with the known scattering behavior of tissues. This multiple step approach results in a high-spatial-resolution map of scattering density that is constrained by the most important properties of scattering from tissues. Estimation of power consumption in digital circuits is performed at gate-level simulation. Its accuracy depends on the models of gate delays that capture the effects of spurious signal transitions, called "glitches". Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software considers inertial gate delays and represses a glitch in the cell's output if its width is below a threshold. Selecting threshold values for the inertial glitch classification and filtering is crucial for precise power estimations. In this direction, we explore the effectiveness of automatically adjusting such thresholds on a cell-specific basis according to the local cell's information. We used a commercial industry-standard gate-level power estimation tool and a 32 nm CMOS standard cell library. Via power measurements in circuit simulations, we created customized lookup tables for each library cell employed in the benchmark circuits. We compared the proposed approach's performance with other methods for glitch threshold definition. Our method demonstrated good power estimation accuracy while presenting the lowest mean absolute error among all the cells of the circuits under test and the smallest standard deviation. The latter suggests that the proposed method achieves better cell-specific accuracy, which is expected to allow for more precise circuit-level power estimations in complex circuits with a large number of combinational cells. The series hybrid active power filter (SHAPF) is known as a very effective harmonic filtering model in power systems. Typically, SHAPF is controlled by a control method based either on the harmonic voltage of the load or on the supply harmonic current. However, the above two methods have the disadvantage of requiring the control coefficient much be large enough, which easily causes system instability. Therefore, this paper presents a new control method for SHAPF. It is a combined control method of the supply harmonic current and the source harmonic voltage. The advantage of the proposed method is the ability to reduce the total harmonic distortion of the supply current and voltage applied to the load with a control coefficient that is not too large. A fuzzy-proportional integral controller is designed for the proposed control method to reduce the compensation error in steady state under variable load conditions. Mathematical models and simulation results have demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed method in reducing the total harmonic distortion of the supply current, voltage applied to the load and minimize the compensation error at steady state. The fluctuations brought by the renewable energy access to the distribution network make it difficult to accurately describe the state space model of the distribution network's dynamic process, which is the basis of the existing dynamic state estimation methods such as the Kalman filter. The inaccurate state space model directly causes an error of dynamic state estimation results. This paper proposed a new dynamic state estimation method which can mitigates the impact of renewable energy fluctuation by considering PV power prediction in establishing distribution network state space model. Firstly, the proposed method mitigates the impact of renewable energy fluctuation by considering PV power prediction in establishing distribution network state space model. Secondly, SVSF filter is introduced to achieve more accurate estimation under noise. The case study and evaluations are carried out based on MATLAB simulation. The results prove that the smooth variable structure filter with photovoltaic power prediction has a better dynamic state estimation effect under the fluctuation of the distribution network compared with the existing Kalman filter. The widespread use of static converters for controlling electrical machines and the concern for electrical power quality in industrial environments provide an opportunity for utilizing these devices to enhance the power quality. In this context, this work presents a back-to-back converter model for driving induction machines. The converter is designed to correct the power factor of the point common coupling (PCC), compensate for harmonic currents (acting as an active filter), and withstand voltage sags. The necessary control system models were developed, and an alternative implementation for these functions in the converter was proposed. The results demonstrate the technical feasibility of this solution, as the converter operated within its nominal limits by compensating for harmonics and reactive power. Moreover, the equipment showed resilience to severe voltage sags. The contribution of this paper focuses on the multifunctionality of the frequency converter for driving induction machines. It emphasizes the advantage of the inverter in improving power quality in industrial environments through reactive power compensation and harmonic current compensation, thus functioning as an active power filter. Additionally, it is worth highlighting its ability to handle voltage dips. In addressing the challenging issue of impact source localization for large-scale anisotropic stiffened compartmental cylindrical shell structures, this paper presents a novel impact localization method. The method is based on a time-reversal virtual focusing triangulation approach and does not rely on prior knowledge of the structure or specific measurements of wave velocity. By employing energy power filtering to select key sensors, wavelet packet decomposition is utilized to extract narrowband Lamb wave signals, which are then synthesized. Further enhancement of signal recognition is achieved through time-reversal amplification techniques. Experimental results demonstrate that under non-motorized operating conditions, this method achieves an average error of 0.89 m. Under motorized operating conditions, the average error is 1.12 m. Although the presence of background noise leads to an increase in error, the overall localization performance is superior to traditional triangulation methods. This paper presents a novel architecture to enhance the performance of grid‐connected photovoltaic (PV) systems through the introduction of several key novelties. Firstly, a packed U‐cell seven‐level (PUC7)‐based single‐phase solar active filter is implemented, offering a comprehensive solution for harmonics mitigation, reactive power compensation, and efficient power extraction from the PV source, while facilitating the injection of real power into the grid. Secondly, the p‐q power injection algorithm is modified to accommodate the extraction of solar power from the PV generator to the grid, simultaneously addressing the need for harmonic current injection to improve power quality. This modification ensures dynamic performance by extracting reference current with harmonic content and solar power information, thereby enhancing the system's overall efficiency. Lastly, the proposed architecture undergoes real outdoor testing, validating its performance in various key aspects including maximum power tracking, reduction of total harmonic distortion in comparison with previous work, operation at unity power factor, and testing the effective operation of the multifunction feature. These contributions collectively demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system in enhancing power injection quality and reactive power compensation under real outdoor conditions of PV systems connected to the grid. Magnetically shielded rooms (MSRs) provide a near-zero field environment for magnetoencephalography (MEG) research. Due to the high cost of high-permeability materials and the weak shielding capability against low-frequency magnetic disturbance, it is necessary to further design active compensation coils combined with a closed-loop control system to achieve dynamic nulling of environmental magnetic disturbance. To enhance the performance of the dynamic nulling system, this paper proposes a novel controller design method based on Padé approximation and generalized active disturbance rejection control (GADRC). First, a precise closed-loop model of the dynamic nulling system is established. On this basis, the delay element of the optically pumped magnetometer (OPM) is approximated using the Padé approximation method, and the controller is designed within the GADRC framework. The system's stability and disturbance suppression capability are analyzed using frequency-domain methods. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, simulations and experiments are conducted, achieving a shielding factor greater than 40 dB at 0.1 Hz. In the paper, a high‐selectivity wideband four‐way filtering power divider with input absorptive feature is presented. It consists of two parallel‐coupled lines (CLs), two three‐coupled lines (TCLs), two open‐ended stepped branches, one absorptive branch, and two isolation resistors. The wideband filtering response is achieved by cascading the TCLs and CLs. While high selectivity is obtained by loading the open‐ended stepped branch, where two extra transmission zeros are generated. In addition, wide absorptive bandwidth with good isolations between adjacent output ports are realized by combining the absorptive branch with the isolation resistors. Equations are derived by using the two‐parity mode analysis, and main parameters are investigated in detail. For validation, a prototype was designed and fabricated. Test results show that the 3‐dB FBW can reach 87% with a 10‐dB input absorptive FBW of 200%. Besides, for the output ports with 10‐dB return loss and 10‐dB isolation, the FBWs are 94% and 91.5%, respectively. It also features high frequency selectivity and low insertion loss. The primary objective of this paper focuses on developing a control approach to improve the operational performance of a three-level neutral point clamped (3LNPC) shunt active power filter (SAPF) within a grid-tied PV system configuration. Indeed, this developed control approach, based on the used 3LNPC-SAPF topology, aims to ensure the seamless integration of a photovoltaic system into the three-phase four-wire grid while effectively mitigating grid harmonics, grid current unbalance, ensuring grid unit power factor by compensating the load reactive power, and allowing power sharing with the grid in case of an excess of generated power from the PV system, leading to overall high power quality at the grid side. This developed approach is based initially on the application of the four-wire instantaneous p-q theory for the identification of the reference currents that have to be injected by the 3LNPC-SAPF in the grid point of common coupling (PCC). Whereas, the 3LNPC is controlled based on using the finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC), which can be accomplished by determining the convenient set of switch states leading to the voltage vector, which is the most suitable to ensure the minimization of the selected cost function. Furthermore, the used topology requires a constant DC-link voltage and balanced split-capacitor voltages at the input side of the 3LNPN. Hence, the cost function is adjusted by the addition of another term with a selected weighting factor related to these voltages to ensure their precise control following the required reference values. However, due to the random changes in solar irradiance and, furthermore, to ensure efficient operation of the proposed topology, the PV system is connected to the 3LNPN-SAPF via a DC/DC boost converter to ensure the stability of the 3LNPN input voltage within the reference value, which is achieved in this paper based on the use of the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique. For the validation of the proposed control technique and the functionality of the used topology, a set of simulations has been presented and investigated in this paper following different irradiance profile scenarios such as a constant irradiance profile and a variables irradiance profile where the main aim is to prove the effectiveness and flexibility of the proposed approach under variable irradiance conditions. The obtained results based on the simulations carried out in this study demonstrate that the proposed control approach with the used topology under different loads such as linear, non-linear, and unbalanced can effectively reduce the harmonics, eliminating the unbalance in the currents and compensating for the reactive component contained in the grid side. The obtained results prove also that the proposed control ensures a consistent flow of power based on the sharing principle between the grid and the PV system as well as enabling the efficient satisfaction of the load demand. The hybrid active power filter (HAPF) can effectively suppress the 75–125 Hz low-frequency harmonic current generated by the EAST poloidal field power supply. However, the low-frequency harmonic current suppression performance of HAPF is greatly affected by its control parameters when the circuit parameters are determined. In this paper, the state–space equation of the HAPF system is established, and the relationship between the eigenvalues of the state–space matrix and the HAPF control parameters is analyzed using the Lyapunov method. Based on the variation law of the eigenvalues, by optimizing the control parameters of the HAPF system, the low-frequency harmonic current suppression performance of HAPF is improved by 41.9%. This work presents a variable step Champernowne Adaptive Filter (VS-CAF) based control architecture for a grid-integrated solar photovoltaic system. The control structure is implemented to successfully synchronize the two-stage solar photovoltaic at the point of common coupling where the source and domestic loads are connected. The control architecture ensures solar power injection and improvised power quality at the unity power factor. Moreover, the control structure provides only the balanced positive sequence fundamental sinusoidal source currents at solar irradiation alteration and load disturbances. The VS-CAF is exploited to estimate the peak of the fundamental component out of the harmonics-rich domestic load currents. To examine the efficacy of the suggested control technique, a 40 kW solar photovoltaic is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink. The performance assessment of the grid-tied solar generation system is carried out at solar irradiation alteration, zero solar irradiation, and detachment of one phase of the three-phase load. Various simulation results are carried out to verify the successful integration of solar photovoltaics into the three-phase grid following the IEEE-519 standard and satisfactory performance during various working conditions. The traditional ip-iq harmonic detection method is widely used in APF, but it sacrifices the response speed and detection accuracy of the APF system due to the limitations of the traditional phase-locked loop and LPF. Therefore, in order to make APF both higher detection accuracy and faster response speed, a harmonic detection method based on dual second-order sliding-window discrete Fourier transform (DS-SDFT) is proposed, which can accurately detect harmonics with DSOGI-PLL and greatly reduce the computational effort by using half-cycle sliding-window iterative discrete Fourier transform, solving the inherent defects of traditional phase-locked loops and LPFs. Meanwhile, in order to compensate the harmonics better, the model predictive control with stronger dynamic response capability is used in the current compensation control. This research article details the design and implementation of a nonlinear adaptive filtering (NAF) technique using an exponential functional link network (EFLN) for a shunt hybrid active power filter (SHAPF) control to solve the current-associated power quality issues on the utility side at the distribution level of electrical power systems. Separation of the fundamental component from the harmonics, achieving unity power factor operation, reducing the reactive power drawn from the source, balancing the currents during transients, and reduction of total harmonic distortion (THD) of the source current are the issues considered to resolve. The proposed technique solves these issues by generating the sinusoidal reference current and separating the fundamental current from the harmonics. When compared to conventional and existing adaptive filtering techniques such as least mean square (LMS), least mean fourth (LMF), and variable step size LMS (VSS-LMS), the proposed EFLN-NAF method excels in terms of speedy convergence, adaptability in noise-specific environments and reduced steady-state coefficient error. MATLAB/Simulink software is utilized to perform the simulations to examine the suggested strategy for the chosen SHAPF topology both in static and dynamic scenarios. For a 15 kW and 3kVAr requirement of the nonlinear load, simulation results proved that the designed PPF for 2kVAr is able to share the reactive power with the APF, thereby reducing its rating and cost. The proposed method of filtering has been proven to be fast converging with 0.049 s, and the THD in steady state is brought to 1.32 % in steady-state and to 3.77 % during transient conditions, which are under standard limits. A hardware prototype of the experimental setup is constructed at the laboratory scale with OPAL-RT (OP4510) as the controller. With an active and reactive power demand of 1.1 kW and 210VAr, the designed PPF supplies 110 VAr, whereas the rest is supplied by the APF. The practical THD in source current is observed to be 2.081 %, which meets the standards. The results from both simulations and experiments are validated, and the efficacy of the proposed technique in mitigating the aforementioned power quality issues is proved. The three-level neutral-point-clamped (NPC) active power filter (APF) is suitable for harmonic compensation in high voltage and large capacity applications. And, the harmonic compensation effect of APF depends on its dynamic performance and control. This paper propose a repeat proportional integral (PI) decoupling control strategy with linear active disturbance rejection (LADRC) to address the issues of detection in complex harmonic current and power supply current distortion when the nonlinear load varies. To simplify the design of LADRC, this paper adopts inverter current feedback control. Firstly, repeat control is introduced to optimize the traditional PI controller, which improves the compensation accuracy while ensuring the dynamic response capability of the control system. Then, to address the serious coupling of the system model in the d-q coordinate system, a reduced order linear active disturbance rejection (LADRC) control is introduced. The PI and linear extended state observer (LESO) control method is adopted in the outer voltage loop to maintain stable DC voltage and improve the ability to suppress voltage overshoot during grid connection. The effectiveness of this control method has been verified through MATLAB/Simlink. The results show that, compared with the repeat PI method, the control method based on repeat PI–LADRC can achieve better decoupling control, improve robustness and anti-interference ability, enhance the performance of the original system, and can significantly improve the harmonic suppression capability of the APF. Narrowband Power Line Communication (NB-PLC) involves transmitting data by overlaying a high frequency low amplitude signal (ranging from 9 kHz to 500 kHz) onto the low-frequency high amplitude signal (50 Hz to 60 Hz) of the power grid. While using the existing power grid for communication is convenient, it was not originally designed for this purpose, leading to challenges such as conducted emissions and infrastructure constraints. To overcome these technical obstacles, power line filters (PLFs) are a viable solution. The results of our research work, focusing on the optimization of PLFs for NB-PLC to ensure their design fits the needed use case while avoiding over-engineering, are presented in this article. Our study concentrates specifically on the filtering of PLC signal and conducted emissions up to 500 kHz. Building upon a PLC PLF extensively discussed in our previous work—which blocks the PLC signal in the CENELEC-A frequency band regardless of its placement within the electrical installation, sometimes leading to over-engineering—this research aims to adapt the filter order and components for a variety of real scenarios in CENELEC-A, FCC, and ARIB frequency bands. This paper explores the challenges associated with the control of a two-stage three-phase electrical grid connected to a photovoltaic (PV) system. The objectives encompass: i) maximizing the available PV power, ii) controlling the DC-link voltage to a predetermined setpoint, and iii) considering that power quality has become an important measure in a distribution electrical network where different loads are connected, the third objective will mainly focus on ensuring power factor correction (PFC). To achieve these objectives, two loops of nonlinear controller are developed. This contribution conceptualizes a blind source separation (BSS) model to recover sources of geochemical signals such that multi-depth ore-related enrichment patterns in complex metallogenic systems can be recognized. The proposed BSS framework consists of two consecutive modules. The first module is for the spectral decomposition of elemental mixtures to obtain different frequency-related components of signals induced by various geological sources. The second module serves to recover the sources of spectrally filtered geochemical signals according to the statistical assumptions made for the transmission of the latter from the former. In a real case experiment on a multiphase mineralization system, the proposed model was applied to the surface geochemical signals of ore-forming elements to gauge the relevance of source-related signals in depicting subsurface ore-related enrichment patterns. Multifractal filtering according to the generalized scale invariance characteristics of the power spectral density plane was adopted to derive elemental images enhanced in different spectral bands. Assuming linear instantaneous transmission, the FastICA technique was employed to encode spectrally filtered representations of elemental mixtures and recover source-related geochemical signals corresponding to different geo-processes. Support vector machines were used to train classifiers to establish statistical links between the surface geochemical signals and the shallow/deep ore-related enrichment patterns within the study area. The classification accuracies demonstrated that shallow/deep ore-related enrichment patterns can be recognized and distinguished more effectively using recovered source-related signals than using elemental mixtures or spectrally filtered representations. The results indicated that the proposed BSS model can provide efficient source-related geochemical signals to identify robust ore-related enrichment patterns with integrated grade and depth resolution to guide further metal exploration. A direct-current microgrid (MG) can be susceptible to extremely high fault currents contributed by the output filter capacitors of power converters and can also face protection challenges because of the non-zero crossing of fault currents. In a Low-Voltage Direct Current (LVDC) MG, low-fault-tolerance converters such as boost converters and bidirectional converters mostly require a fast and adaptable fault protection scheme that can detect and clear quickly faults irrespective of a wide range of fault impedances in the system. Several current- and voltage-derivative-based protection methods with communication support have been developed to primarily protect DC MGs due to their high sensitivity and selectivity. Overcurrent and under-voltage-based protection schemes are mostly suggested as backup protections for the DC MGs. To accurately detect and rapidly clear the faults even in the case of communication failure from the primary protection, this paper proposes a novel backup fault protection scheme with high selectivity, adaptability, and scalability for islanded LVDC MGs based on local measurements along with Chi-squaredistribution-based statistics. Specifically, this developed backup protection not only applies a cumulative summation methodology for the locally measured signals to extract derivative and integral characteristics of the current and voltage, but also uses the Chi-square-distribution-based statistics to consistently calculate tripping thresholds for the effective detection of different fault events in the LVDC MG, regardless of variable fault resistances and the communication-link damage. As a result, the proposed backup protection is capable of accurately detecting various DC faults to secondarily protect the source and load branches of the system within the expected time frame of a few milliseconds and has been validated through multiple staged fault tests from an off-grid and ungrounded 1kW and 48VDC MG testbed. The harmonic compensation of SAPF (shunt active power filter) may trigger harmonic oscillation due to the interaction with grid impedance and non‐linear loads, which distorts the power quality. In previous research, the relevant mechanism has been studied. However, the SAPF generally employs complex harmonic detection algorithm, which significantly increases the computational demands. The SAPF in full compensation mode can effectively solve this problem. But the modification of harmonic detection link may change the oscillation mechanism and previous stabilization methods need to be re‐evaluated. Therefore, this paper establishes the small signal model of the SAPF system in full compensation mode and investigates its oscillation mechanism. It is revealed that harmonic compensation and passive resonance collectively induce the harmonic oscillation. Based on the model, the working mechanism and application performance of the main stabilization methods proposed in the past (harmonic virtual admittance and harmonic compensation canceling) are analyzed and compared. However, neither of them can achieve effective stabilization without sacrificing the performance of compensation. Consequently, the harmonic phase compensation method is proposed to achieve the stabilization of the SAPF system in full compensation mode without affecting normal compensation. This paper proposes an extended state observer (ESO)‐based second‐order sliding mode control (SMC) for dynamic voltage restorers (DVRs). Unlike the conventional first‐order SMC and some second‐order SMC (SOSMC) methods that suffer from chattering, the proposed control method can alleviate chattering and achieve finite‐time convergence. Chattering suppression (i.e. eliminating discontinuities) is achieved via continuous control input which is also used to generate the pulse width modulation signals. However, while removing the discontinuities in the control input, the performance of the control method is degraded when it is subjected to disturbances. Therefore, an active disturbance rejection (ADR) based on an ESO is proposed to enhance the performance. In addition, an advanced single‐phase phase‐locked loop (PLL) using linear observer and quasi‐type‐1 PLL is also proposed. Power transformers are the most important component in power system. Exposing these transformers to the harmonic distortions causes additional heat losses, insulation stress, decrease in lifetime of insulation, and reduced power factor with decrease in efficiency of the system. The lifespan of distribution transformers is influenced by the fragility of power quality in power networks. Harmonic mitigation filters with robust control technique are required to reduce the harmonic effects on power transformer. Traditionally, synchronous reference frame (DQ) is employed to control the shunt active power filter (APF) for mitigation of harmonics in power transformers. DQ control of Shunt APF lacks merits of fast response, delayed operation due to phased lock loop under abnormal grid conditions leading to insufficient harmonic elimination. A developed DQ method based on detecting the positive and negative sequence components is proposed to precisely control the shunt APF for reliable operation of power transformer. This detection technique improves the response time, mitigate the harmonics effecting the operation of transformer and overall power factor. The proposed control system is evaluated under different abnormal operating scenarios and compared with traditional DQ method. Fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) are estimated as the future's mobile distributed generators with vehicle-to-grid (V2G) functions. Besides, V2G topologies are required to be designed with an appropriate analog filter by accurately measuring the reference current and voltage values of inverters and converters. Thus, the highest accuracy is required in control structures for charging and grid connection of FCEVs to improve the power quality (PQ). In this study, PQ improvement of V2G operation of FCEVs is proposed by considering the developed real-time digital infinite impulse response (IIR) filters in generating reference signals in the power calculation stage. A band-pass digital IIR filter design is realized with the inverter using LabVIEW infrastructure, and reference signals are smoothed by using IIR filters. The performances of developed different IIR filters' results are examined in the study. Developed filters are designed using the order estimation method. Elliptic, Chebyshev, and Butterworth filters are applied to the voltage and current signals, and the best results are obtained in reference power signals with the Butterworth filter. The Butterworth filter maintains stability in current RMS, induces a 0.09 % decrease in voltage RMS, and shows a slight 0.30 % increase in active power. The proposed approach removes distortions in reference power signals by using a designed filter for a reliable V2G operation of FCEVs. This study introduces a novel uninterruptible power supply (UPS) configuration that integrates active power filter (APF) capabilities within a single-phase matrix converter (SPMC) framework. Power disruptions, particularly affecting critical loads, can lead to substantial economic damages. Historically, conventional UPS systems utilized dual separate converters to function as a rectifier and an inverter, without incorporating any power factor correction (PFC) mechanisms. Such configurations suffered from diminished power density, compromised reliability, and spatial limitations. To address these issues, this research proposes an enhanced UPS design that incorporates APF features into the SPMC. The focus of this investigation is on the efficiency of alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC) conversion and the reverse process utilizing this advanced UPS model. The SPMC is selected to supplant the rectifier and inverter units traditionally employed in UPS architectures. A novel integrated switching strategy is formulated to facilitate the operation of the UPS in either rectifier (charging) or inverter (discharging) modes, contingent upon the operational state. The performance and efficacy of the devised circuit design and switching technique are substantiated through simulations conducted in MATLAB/Simulink 2019 and empirical evaluations using a test rig. The findings demonstrate that the voltage generated is sinusoidal and synchronized with the supply current, thereby minimizing the total harmonic distortion (THD) and enhancing both the power factor and the transition efficiency of the UPS system between its charging and discharging states. DC voltage is one of the important parameters of active power filters. Since the series hybrid active power filter does not withstand the fundamental voltage, it cannot absorb energy from the power grid, making it too difficult to control its DC voltage. In order to solve the DC voltage control problem, an improved control method for the series hybrid active power filter with magnetic flux compensation is proposed in this paper. In this improved method, the fundamental magnetic flux compensation coefficient is equal to 1, meeting the condition of fundamental magnetic flux compensation. This improved method does not rely on the precise detection and phase-locking of the fundamental voltage at the port of the series transformer. A phase-fixed active current component is generated directly by the inverter, enabling the active power filter (APF) to absorb active power from the power grid. Consequently, the active power absorbed by the APF from the power grid has a linear relationship with the active current component. An improved model predictive control (MPC) with Luenberger state observer is proposed in this article for LC‐coupling hybrid active power filter (LC‐HAPF). Traditionally, the implementation of MPC for LC‐HAPF requires additional sensors to measure coupling capacitor voltage, thereby increases the system cost and reduces reliability. The existence of one‐step sampling delay in practice will also affect the final compensation performance. To relax these problems, both continuous and discrete models are deduced first. Then, the Luenberger observer is utilized based on the discrete model to mitigate the steady‐state error without additional sensors. In addition, the sampling delay compensation is provided by improving the prediction horizon. Finally, the effectiveness of the improved MPC for LC‐HAPF is verified by experiment results, indicating that the proposed method has fast dynamic response and low steady‐state error. Summary: In this study, an improved anti‐windup proportional‐integral predictive direct power control strategy with a phase‐locked loop (PLL) is proposed and applied to a three‐level shunt active power filter (SAPF) neutral point clamped (NPC) inverter using space vector modulation (SVM) technique. The SAPF has to ensure sinusoidal waveforms and unity power factor in the grid side, by eliminating harmonic currents and compensating reactive power of the nonlinear loads. Active and reactive powers as well as the DC bus voltage controls are performed using anti‐windup proportional and integral actions with a predictive algorithm, without a need for an exhaustive mathematical model. The control law is modulated using the SVM technique allowing fixed switching frequency and low power ripples. The performances of the suggested control have been verified through an electronic STM32F407 card under diverse and severe conditions. A hybrid technique is proposed to enhance the power quality (PQ) on the distribution sides of the utility grid (UG) by controlling a unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) connected to hybrid sources (photovoltaic [PV] and wind turbine [WT]). The proposed hybrid method integrates the implementation of the pelican optimization algorithm and the Aquila optimizer; hence, it is called the improved aquila optimizer (IAO) technique. The objective of the proposed method is to lessen the total harmonic distortion (THD), voltage instability, and PQ issues during load fluctuation situations. The improved Aquila Optimizer technique optimizes the control parameters of the UPQC to achieve optimal PQ development. The series controller is attached to the grid‐side to enhance grid PQ, while the shunt hybrid active power filter (SAPF) and shunt active power filter (SHAPF) generate the best control pulses based on load and source conditions. The proposed solution addresses power loss, THD, and voltage instability problems during load fluctuation conditions. The series controller reduces voltage sag by 14% and voltage swell by 15%. The THD for the proposed technique is 0.8%. The PQ of the proposed technique is improved, and various characteristics are reduced. The efficiency of the proposed technique is examined by using MATLAB and is compared to existing approaches. In this brief, a dual-band filtering power divider (FPD) with high selectivity and independently controllable passbands is designed. The proposed FPD consists of asymmetric folded F-type resonators (AFFRs) and quarter-wavelength three parallel-coupled lines (TPCLs). The center frequencies of the dual bands can be determined by adjusting the physical lengths of AFFRs. Meanwhile, TPCLs can increase the transmission paths and introduce multiple transmission zeros (TZs) to achieve high selectivity. For demonstration, the proposed FPD is designed, fabricated, and measured. The center frequencies are 2.59/3.63 GHz with the 3-dB fractional bandwidths (FBWs) of 12.95% and 7.88%, and the isolation between port 2 and port 3 is better than 12.56/21.03 dB. The advent of distributed generation has brought with it a plethora of challenges for the nascent power systems that are being deployed on a large scale. Firstly, the majority of power electronic converters connected to the grid are in current source mode, which results in a lack of inertia and an inability to provide effective inertia or achieve damping support during fluctuations in grid frequency. Secondly, the issue of power quality, caused by the presence of harmonics, is becoming increasingly severe. This is particularly problematic in microgrids or systems with high line impedance, where harmonics can be amplified, thereby further compromising the stability of the power system. To address the deficiency in system inertia, numerous scholars are currently utilizing grid-forming (GFM) technology to achieve virtual inertia. In order to address the issue of system harmonics, it is possible to install active power filter (APF) devices at the point of common coupling (PCC), which serve to mitigate the effects of harmonics. This paper puts forth a proposal for the implementation of an APF with virtual inertia, based on PR + RC composite control. This composite control mechanism serves to enhance the harmonic suppression capabilities of the APF. The introduction of a frequency droop enables the capacitor voltage amplitude to be adjusted during fluctuations in system frequency, thereby achieving virtual inertia and providing active support for system frequency. The experimental results demonstrate that this strategy not only reduces the total harmonic distortion (THD) by 13% in comparison to PI control, indicating excellent harmonic suppression performance, but also allows the system to be inert, achieving positive results in suppressing frequency fluctuations during transients. In this paper, the implementation of sliding mode control algorithms for the case of power grid current regulation in a T-type bidirectional inverter system connected via an LCL filter to the power grid is proposed and presented. A mathematical model of such a system has been proposed, which was then implemented in a simulation environment. The increasingly extensive use of non-linear loads, mostly including static power converters, in large industry, commercial, and domestic applications, as well as the spread of renewable energy sources in distribution-generated units, make the use of the most efficient power quality improvement systems a current concern. The use of active power filters proved to be the most advanced solution with the best compensation performance for harmonics, reactive power, and load unbalance. Thus, issues related to improving the power quality through active power filters are very topical and addressed by many researchers. This paper presents a topical review on the shunt active power filters in three-phase, three-wire systems. The power circuit and configurations of shunt active filtering systems are considered, including the multilevel topologies and use of advanced power semiconductor devices with lower switching losses and higher switching frequencies. Several compensation strategies, reference current generation methods, current control techniques, and DC-voltage control are pointed out and discussed. The direct power control method is also discussed. New advanced control methods that have better performance than conventional ones and gained attention in the recent literature are highlighted. The current state of renewable energy sources integration with shunt active power filters is analyzed. The distorted supply voltage degrades the control performance of a unified power quality conditioner (UPQC). This problem causes incorrect calculations in the harmonic identification and reference signal generation processes. This paper proposes a modified harmonic identification of the UPQC. The reference compensating current calculation for the shunt active power filter (shunt APF) is developed using the sliding window with the Fourier analysis (SWFA) method. In addition, the variable power angle control (PAC) is applied to operate the reference signal generation of the series APF and the shunt APF of the UPQC. Under the distorted voltage and nonlinear load conditions, the proposed approach can provide accurate reference compensating signals and successfully share the load reactive power compensation between the shunt APF and the series APF. In this work, a three-phase, three-wire power system with linear and nonlinear loads was implemented. The proposed method was validated using the processor-in-the-loop technique on an eZdsp™ F28335 board and the MATLAB/Simulink program. The testing results indicated that SWFA has excellent filtering performance and enhances harmonic identification compared to the operation without any filter or with low pass filters (LPF). With the proposed approach, the percentage of total harmonic distortion of voltage and current could be maintained within the IEEE519-2022 standard, and the magnitude of the RMS voltage across the load was in the recommended range specified by ANSI C84.1-2016.
