This study aimed to develop and evaluate the psychometric properties of the Educational Leadership Scale for Faculty Members (ELSF) in Arabic. The scale was rigorously tested using both traditional methods--exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA)--as well as advanced network techniques, including exploratory graph analysis (EGA) and centrality measures. The study sample consisted of 350 faculty members (56% male, 44% female) from various universities, with a mean age of 42.3 years (SD = 7.8). Participants represented a range of academic disciplines, and all were involved in educational leadership roles within their respective institutions. EFA revealed a five-factor structure that explained 68.4% of the total variance. CFA further confirmed the model's adequacy, with fit indices showing a good model fit (CFI = 0.95, TLI = 0.94, RMSEA = 0.06). The ELSF, comprising 22 items across these five dimensions, demonstrated strong internal consistency, with a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.89. Additionally, EGA supported the factor structure identified by traditional methods, reinforcing the stability and consistency of the scale. Centrality measures highlighted Item 18 as the most influential, with betweenness, closeness and strength centrality scores of 0.45, 0.78 and 0.62, respectively, within the 'Research-Ethical Leadership' subscale. These findings affirm the ELSF's credibility as a robust tool for assessing educational leadership among faculty members. The scale's strong psychometric properties suggest it is well-suited for application in diverse academic settings, including potential use across Arabic-speaking countries such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Oman and Kuwait.

The study aimed to develop and validate academic motivation measures among university students. The study adopted the correlational method. An available sample of university students selected from the Faculty of Education, Suez Canal University. The study sample consisted of 453 people. The scales responded online to the students after they accepted the informed consent and wrote their data online in the same submission file. The study investigated the factor structures of the Academic Motivation Scale (three-, four, five-, and seven-factor models). The seven-factor model, the four-factor model, and the five-factor model were the most appropriate. According to the convergent validity, it was positively associated with the motives of autonomy and measures of cognitive styles, However, the lack of motivation subscale was nonsignificant with the Cognitive Styles scale and the Self-motivation subscale. The study indicates the psychological validity of the academic motivation scale for university students.

The ubiquity of cyberspace has resulted in a surge in reported cyberbullying cases globally. Despite numerous studies investigating the impact of cyberbullying on students, research addressing its prevalence in the Middle East remains scarce. This exploratory study aims to assess the prevalence of cyberbullying among university students in six Middle Eastern countries: Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar. The study seeks to identify common cyberbullying forms and examine students' responses to each, considering variations based on gender, year of study, study discipline, and country. A descriptive approach is followed to achieve the study objectives. A random sample of 2,642 students (1,887 female) participated in the study by completing an online survey about their experience with seven forms of cyberbullying, and the strategies they used to deal with each. A relatively low prevalence of cyberbullying is found among the sample, with 57.6% reporting that they never experienced any form of cyberbullying and 20% reporting experiencing cyberbullying only once. The most common forms of cyberbullying were exclusion (56%), harassment (51%), and flaming (44%). While differences in the prevalence of cyberbullying are found according to gender in two forms, stalking and flaming, no statistical differences according to study discipline are evident. Students in their later years are more likely to experience all forms of cyberbullying than students in their early years (p < 0.05). The differences are significant across countries, with Jordan being highest, followed by Egypt then Kuwait. Self-defending and confrontation are found to be the most common responses to cyberbullying. Overall, the sample reported using active responses to cyberbullying more than passive responses. Females and students in the arts and humanities are more likely to respond actively to cyberbullying compared to males and students enrolled in science disciplines (all p < 0.05). The findings of the study provide a better understanding of the prevalence of this phenomenon in the region and assist stakeholders in planning preventive strategies.

Humans are born storytellers as they use oral narratives as a vehicle to share their experiences. This study aimed to study how female Egyptian speakers formulate their personal experiences in oral narratives in the English Language. A need of this study was felt because not much is known how Arab EFL speakers build their oral narratives when its structure is talked about. The sample of this study comprised 24 female students from an Egyptian university pursuing a program in English language and literature, divided equally into two groups of intermediate and advanced levels. By using a non-experimental mixed model research design, the data was collected through semi structured interviews. The quantitative results were based on Mann-Whitney Test, which compared two unpaired groups to investigate the differences between the frequencies of the moves in the oral narratives as well as their use of structural tools; while the qualitative results were obtained from the participants' responses in the interview, which gave insight into how the participants formulated their narratives. Results show variations in the moves of narratives in both groups; however, there was no significant difference in the overall structure of each narrative. The study also attempted to compare the narrative structure of the female Egyptian EFL learners with that of their peers. It was found that there was no relationship between EFL proficiency and the structure of the narratives of female Egyptian at both advanced and intermediate levels. These findings will provide useful insights about the structural aspects of the oral narratives of Arab EFL learners.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a prominent area of investigation in the field of education. Also, perceptions, challenges and threats of AI among university professors show notable variations. This study explores university professors' perspectives regarding AI, including their familiarity with AI, its educational impacts, challenges associated with its implementation, and perceived threats. To achieve this, a survey was administered to 65 university professors from diverse Egyptian institutions, both state and private. Subsequent statistical analyses were conducted to treat the collected data. The outcomes of these analyses reveal that university professors possess varying degrees of familiarity with AI. Despite this, they view AI as a valuable educational tool. The study identifies several challenges hindering AI adoption, encompassing difficulties in comprehending and interpreting AI algorithmic outcomes, the intricate autonomy of AI systems, financial implications of implementation, and concerns regarding data privacy. Additionally, the study identifies apprehensions pertaining to AI''s influence on professors' skills, potential dehumanization of pedagogy, adverse effects on students, and the potential obsolescence of professors. These findings bear implications for the integration of AI in educational contexts, highlighting the necessity for further exploration in this evolving field.

This study explores Arab university faculty's views on fully AI-generated assignments and research papers submitted by students, what reasons they give for their stance and how they react in this case. Surveys with a sample of 45 Arab instructors revealed that 98% do not accept AI-generated assignments and research papers from students at all. They gave numerous reasons for their position. If students submit AI-generated assignments or research papers, they would ask them to re-write them. The study recommends raising students' awareness of university policies regarding AI-generated content and introducing faculty and students to AI plagiarism detection tools. Faculty views and recommendations are reported in detail.

Although there are claims that ChatGPT, an AI-based language model, is capable of assessing the writing of L2 learners accurately and consistently in the classroom, a number of recent studies have shown discrepancies between AI and human raters. Furthermore, there is a lack of studies investigating the intrareliability of ChatGPT scores. Accordingly, this study aimed to examine the accuracy and consistency of ChatGPT compared to teachers, as well as with itself, after being trained on a rubric. To accomplish this goal, the study adopted a quantitative correlational non-experimental design. A dataset of 100 writing assignments, submitted by a cohort of B1-level students at an international branch university in Egypt, was analyzed quantitatively. These assignments were initially evaluated and moderated by trained teachers (n=11), and subsequently, the same assignments were also assessed twice by ChatGPT. The findings indicated that teachers' scores exhibited a higher level of accuracy compared to those generated by ChatGPT. The results also revealed that ChatGPT exhibits a moderate, yet questioned, level of intra-rater reliability. The weak-to-moderate correlations between ChatGPT and teacher scores raise concerns about the accuracy and consistency of ChatGPT's scoring of writing assignments. The implications of the findings highlight the potential applications and limitations of ChatGPT in L2 writing assessment. This study contributes to the ongoing discourse on the use of AI technologies in language education and provides insights into the accuracy and reliability of ChatGPT as an evaluation tool for L2 writing.

The English reading ability of university students is crucial for their academic achievement, regardless of whether they are studying English or any other subject in English. Examining the affective factors that influence this ability is critical for understanding its development. Research has been conducted on the correlation between first language (L1) and English as a second language (ESL/EFL) reading attitudes, but there is limited research on the correlation between L2 and L1. This research seeks to investigate the similarities in reading perspectives between Arabic-speaking international students and English-speaking university students. The study employed surveys and semi-structured interviews to evaluate individuals' viewpoints on bilingual reading. The objective was to assess individuals' attitudes towards reading in two languages. Both quantitative and qualitative analyses were conducted. The study revealed that students' reading preferences remained consistent across different languages. However, the relationship between second-language reading attitudes and first-language reading attitudes was found to be minimal. The implications of the current study suggest that enhancing reading attitudes in both languages may enhance reading ability. The study utilised subjective data and targeted a specific demographic, limiting its generalizability to more diverse student populations.

Creativity and design thinking skills are considered pillars in arts practice in general. Traditional arts education, in particular, involves a tension between pure technical skill and the ability to design creatively regardless of craft limitations. The present study focuses on eliminating the boundaries between craft and art and bridging the gap between technical skills and creativity in practicing traditional textile printing arts. The paper presents a teaching procedure that is based on exploring traditional textile printing within a new dimension and achieving a balance between both the technical and creative sides. The study proposes a survey model to investigate the impact of the applied procedures and understand students' perceptions of the full range of the traditional printing creative process in action. The conclusions of this study will aid in the development of traditional arts education and practice in general and their re-exploration as flexible, expressive, and creative forms of art.

This study explores how discussing metaphors for AI can help build awareness of the frames that shape our understanding of AI systems, particularly large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT. Given the pressing need to teach "critical AI literacy", discussion of metaphor provides an opportunity for inquiry and dialogue with space for nuance, playfulness, and critique. Using a collaborative autoethnographic methodology, we analyzed metaphors from a range of sources, and reflected on them individually according to seven questions, then met and discussed our interpretations. We then analyzed how our reflections contributed to the three kinds of literacies delineated in Selber's multiliteracies framework: functional, critical and rhetorical. These allowed us to analyze questions of ethics, equity, and accessibility in relation to AI. We explored each metaphor along the dimension of whether or not it was promoting anthropomorphizing, and to what extent such metaphors imply that AI is sentient. Our findings highlight the role of metaphor reflection in fostering a nuanced understanding of AI, suggesting that our collaborative autoethnographic approach as well as the heuristic model of plotting AI metaphors on dimensions of anthropomorphism and multiliteracies, might be useful for educators and researchers in the pursuit of advancing critical AI literacy.

The present study attempted to examine the effect of using the connectivist approach on developing secondary-stage students' cross-cultural awareness and translation performance. The study comprised thirty-two first-year secondary stage students enrolled in El-Jalawea Institute, Sohag Governorate. The study adopted the quasi-experimental design. Thirty-two participants were randomly assigned to one group, and they were taught through a suggested web-based program. Data were gathered and analysed using both quantitative and qualitative instruments. A pre-post online translation and cross-cultural awareness test, an online questionnaire, and a web-based training program/blog were used in the study. Findings indicated that participants showed significantly higher levels of translation performance samples in the areas of reading comprehension, writing fluency, Computer-assisted Translation (CAT) tool usage, text analysis, and terminology search. Findings also showed significantly higher levels of cross-cultural awareness in both cognitive and affective aspects compared to students' achievement before the treatment. Participants also showed evidence of transition from word-for-word to meaning-for-meaning translation. The development of the students' performance was demonstrated by multiple measures that imply that the suggested web-based program is effective for developing secondary-stage students' translation performance and cross-cultural awareness skills.

Purpose: This article examines the use of English medium instruction (EMI) for teaching Japanese as a foreign language (JFL) by non-native speakers with a focus on multilingual classrooms. It also explores teachers' positive and negative beliefs about using EMI in classroom settings for JFL instruction. Methods and procedure: 274 non-native Japanese language teachers from around the world (57 countries) voluntarily participated in a survey, answering a questionnaire on Google Forms and Jotform. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were employed. The research instrument was piloted before the main study and was found to be effective and adequate to elicit the desired data. The research questions aimed to identify whether there were any relationships between the use of EMI and the multilingual classroom. Findings: The results showed a clear correlation between the extensive use of EMI and the multilingual character of JFL classrooms. Translanguaging turned out to be a common practice adopted by non-native Japanese teachers regardless of the primary language of instruction. The article concludes that EMI can be a valuable tool for JFL instruction in multilingual classrooms. Based on the investigation of the teachers' beliefs, the results showed a changing positive attitude towards English employed in JFL classrooms. Implications for research and practice: The findings can be used to further investigate EMI in JFL instructional practices in multilingual classrooms, improve the quality of JFL instruction and facilitate the integration of multilingual education into foreign language teaching. Future research can explore the effectiveness of EMI in different JFL contexts and investigate the impact of EMI on students' language learning outcomes.

Given the recent upsurge in publications investigating authentic leadership in education since 1997, this study was carried out to review scholarly publications on authentic leadership in educational research, drawing on a database of 91 studies published between 1997 and 2021. Descriptive methods were employed to identify the features of the related literature with respect to the volume of publication, journal and geographic distribution of the literature, types of studies, authorship trends, citation impact, measurement instruments, research methods, identified antecedents, mediators, moderators, and outcomes of authentic leadership in educational research. The results revealed that the published research consisted mostly of empirical studies. The analysis also revealed that more qualitative methods have been employed in recent years. Significant relationships were also found between authentic leadership and different outcomes (e.g. performance, satisfaction, trust in the leader). Recommendations were provided to improve the quality of the authentic leadership literature.

With the global increase in forcibly displaced populations, understanding and improving educational opportunities and outcomes for refugee youth is of paramount importance. This scoping review focuses on understanding the extent and nature of evidence related to school engagement among refugee parents and students. The review's scope was limited to peer-reviewed articles published in English between 2015 and 2023. The review reveals insights into research contexts, methodological and theoretical approaches, empirical interests, and key findings on enablers of and barriers to school engagement. Additionally, the paper identifies three significant themes requiring attention in future research: inconsistent framing of central themes, the prevalence of deficit accounts regarding refugee parents and students, and omissions concerning critical aspects of school engagement.

Design thinking is a way to create solid designs that responds to design problems and solve it in a creative and suitable way. However, it is not widely recognized in architectural education pedagogy in Egypt for undergraduate. Despite being very efficient in several business avenues but not in architectural pedagogy. So, this paper aims to spot the light on design thinking and the possibility of its usage in design process to help students have a successful architectural project that solves the design problems and face the site challenges through the use of visualization design thinking tool. Where students face a challenge in translating the verbal language of their collected data in the research phase to the architectural language in the schematic phase. There is a recognized gap between the research students perform in the beginning of design project and the schematic designs that students deliver. The study proposes the possibility of using visualization as a tool for design thinking to have a sufficient and successful schematic design phase. The study will explain how students could apply design thinking in architectural design to benefit from their research phase in their schematic design. Moreover, come up with solutions and variable ideas using the tools of deign thinking as a way for helping in delivering design problem solution and have a more effective schematic design. At the end of the research paper the study concludes how the students can use visualization tool to translate the verbal language to architectural language and the possibility for using design thinking. That to help students realize the importance of analysis phase in synthesis. The research follows descriptive method and quantitative analysis where first the descriptive method is used in illustrating design process and design thinking. Then the quantitative analysis in the experiment is done followed by a survey to prove research problem and help in proposing the solution.

Egypt currently holds the record for the most retractions in the continent of Africa according to the Retraction Watch database, and the 2nd highest of countries in the Middle East. The purpose of this study was to analyse the retracted medical publications from Egyptian affiliations, in order to delineate specific problems and solutions. We examined databases including Pubmed, Google Scholar and others, for all retracted medical publications that were conducted in an Egyptian institution, up to the date of August 31st 2022. We observed for the reason(s) for retraction, number of citations of the retracted work, the length of time between publication and retraction, and where the work was published (journal, publisher and impact factor). 68 retractions were identified. Most retractions were from the speciality of Obstetrics and Gynecology (n = 22), followed by Anesthesia (n = 7). The top 3 reasons for retraction were unreliable results, FFP level misconduct, and duplicate publication. The number of retractions significantly increased over the years, especially in 2022. When taking into account the number of medical publications per institution, the institute with the highest rate of retractions was Mansoura University, while the lowest rate was Cairo University. The number of retracted medical Egyptian publications continues to increase over time, although they represent a small portion of the overall body of Egyptian medical research. Future studies on retracted articles should employ a methodology that considers the institutions where the studies were conducted. This could allow a better understanding of specific problems in certain countries or regions.

This study investigated the effectiveness of using a social learning programme facilitated by Facebook to develop some creative writing skills and motivation to learn English among secondary-one school students. Seventy students in secondary-one grade in Al-Shahid Hussein A. Abdul-Raouf Mixed Secondary School in Al-Maabda in the second semester of the academic 2022\2023 year, Assiut Educational Directorate where the researcher works, were chosen as the study participants and were divided evenly into two groups. The researcher adopted the two-group quasi-experimental design. A creative writing pre-post test was administered to the participants of both study groups to assess students' development in the specified creative writing skills before and after the experimental treatment. A motivation scale was administered to the participants of the experimental group before the experimental treatment, and it was readministered to the participants of both the study groups after the experimental treatment to assess the effectiveness of the program in enhancing the students' motivation to learn English. The data collection process included both quantitative and qualitative techniques. The results were analysed, and the outcomes were demonstrated. The findings of the study assured that there were statistically significant differences at the (0.05) level between the mean scores of the two research groups in the pre-post administration of the creative writing skills test and the motivation scale in favour of the post-testing. The study revealed that using activities based on Social Learning Theory (SLT) that were facilitated by Facebook proved to be effective and have considerable contributions to developing English creative writing skills of secondary-one school students. Future research should focus on integrating Social Learning Theory and the virtual educational environment of Facebook in the English language content and curriculum. Research should also be conducted to investigate the use of Social Learning and Facebook in other language skills (i.e., listening, reading, and speaking).

In student-centric learning environments, such as blended learning, students' metacognitive self-regulation is required to plan, monitor, and control their learning processes and achieve positive learning outcomes. The lack of metacognitive self-regulation may lead students to encounter difficulties that, eventually, affect their learning perceptions. Therefore, understanding how to drive students' metacognitive self-regulation is essential to delivering an effective blended learning process that supports students' learning perceptions. This study examines the structural relationships between academic self-efficacy, student-student interaction, student-lecturer interaction, metacognitive self-regulation (including planning, monitoring, and regulating), and perceived learning using structural equation modeling. The data were collected from 1675 undergraduate students who experienced blended learning at Egyptian universities. The findings revealed that academic self-efficacy, student-student interaction, and student-lecturer interaction have significant direct effects on the planning, monitoring, and regulating dimensions of metacognitive self-regulation. Furthermore, metacognitive self-regulation dimensions not only influence perceived learning but also mediate the effects of academic self-efficacy, student-student interaction, and student-lecturer interaction on perceived learning, except for monitoring, which has an insignificant mediation effect on the relationship between student-student interaction and perceived learning. The findings of this study may help researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders gain deep insights regarding how to promote tertiary students' metacognitive self-regulation and learning perceptions during the blended learning experience.

The primary socializing agents have been found to play a key role in shaping teachers' attitudes. In the realm of inclusive education (IE), one of the most extensively researched themes is teachers' attitudes regarding inclusion. Contrary to a plethora of attitudinal studies that are solely concentrating on describing teacher attitudes, the present study sought to investigate the perceived social support (PSS) perceptions of pre-service special education teachers in terms of their attitudes towards inclusive education and their self-efficacy beliefs (TSE). The population of this correlational research design study consists of 525 pre-service special education teachers from six different colleges of education in Egypt's northern, central and southern big cities. Using a correlation technique and structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis, the research data were analysed. The findings revealed that the PSS scales' sub-dimensions indicate having a significant and positive relationship with TSE as well as attitudes towards IE. In addition, research revealed that pre-service special education teachers' PSS significantly predicted their TSE beliefs and attitudes towards IE. The study's findings reflect crucial implications for teacher education policymakers in addressing pre-service teachers' needs of professional learning programmes that should include a career development stage targeted at generating socially supportive role models.

Sustainable education and teaching excellence in Egypt remain significant challenges due to the persistent reliance on conventional and theoretical curricula, highlighting the dire importance of innovative practices for educators. Specific education should be encouraged at higher education levels, particularly in educational media. However, its adoption remains challenging due to unclear objectives and ineffective practices. High-impact educational practices (HIEPs) would provide an incentive for improved learning among the students. Thus, the current study focuses on the high impact of educational practices in exploring the importance of HIEPs in higher education in general and the educational media for specific education at Mansoura University in particular. Fifty faculty members in the field of educational media from specific educational colleges across various Egyptian universities participated in the survey. The study identifies the government's focus on quantity over quality, poor teaching standards, and social inequalities as critical factors necessitating the implementation of HIEPs. In turn, all these practices add to deriving improved engagement, delivery of transferable and elementary skills, or synthesizing learning from related courses. The study concluded that it is important for the Department of Educational Media and its sub-specialties, including Drama, Educational Theatre, Radio, Television, and Educational Journalism, to integrate HIEPs and foster innovative practices in theatre education, in light of the 21st-century skills, skills gaps, ICT implementation, and support of teachers to increase the sustainability, particularly in educational media.

Situated in the education reform launched by the Egyptian Ministry of Education (MOE), which called for a socially-foreign shift away from memorization-based mathematics instruction, this paper explores the role of school-based teacher professional networks in implementing reform. Adopting the Goodson Change Model as a theoretical framework, we map out the power play between external agency (national society), internal agency (teacher professional networks) and the personal agency of individual teachers. Using an embedded case study model and a dataset consisting of the recordings of two full-day focus group discussions with teacher professional networks at two national schools, we contrast the two cases from the perspective of teacher group tensions and power dynamics in relation to the reform implementation. In one case, the teacher professional network (internal agency) was dominantly embracing the change, thus empowering the local teacher (personal agency) and enforcing its dogma on its stationed national society (external agency). In the other case, the teacher as a personal agent was solely attempting to break through both layers of internal and external agency. Our findings cast light on the role of teacher professional networks in curricular reform contexts, particularly within a collective cultural setup such as Egypt. Implications for the role of teacher professional networks in the diffusion of reform initiatives are discussed in light of the findings.

Since most schools and learners had no choice but to learn online during the pandemic, online learning became the mainstream learning mode rather than a substitute for traditional face-to-face learning. Given this enormous change in online learning, we conducted a systematic review of 191 of the most recent online learning studies published during the COVID-19 era. The systematic review results indicated that the themes regarding "courses and instructors" became popular during the pandemic, whereas most online learning research has focused on "learners" pre-COVID-19. Notably, the research topics "course and instructors" and "course technology" received more attention than prior to COVID-19. We found that "engagement" remained the most common research theme even after the pandemic. New research topics included parents, technology acceptance or adoption of online learning, and learners' and instructors' perceptions of online learning.

Though a number of studies addressed the current needs in EFL teachers' training, a main research gap yet to be addressed is investigating the efficacy of the professional development of in-service teachers using an instructional model and its actual impact on students. Through using three instruments -designed by the author- that included: (a survey of EFL teaching skills, a teacher knowledge test, a digital literacy skills scale, a teacher performance assessment analytic rubric), this study attempted to determine the impact of ASSURE model on EFL in-service preparatory teachers teaching skills and digital literacy skills. The results indicated that z-values of the teachers' knowledge test, teachers' digital literacy skills scale and teachers' performance assessment rubric were significant. ASSURE model proved to be helpful in developing EFL preparatory teachers teaching skills and digital literacy skills.

With the escalation of the COVID-19 crisis, many educational institutions have turned to distance education, especially universities and higher education institutions, which may affect the quality of learning outcomes especially those related to deeper learning and academic mindfulness. The present study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of hybrid learning in developing academic mindfulness and enhancing deeper learning of a sample of university students, in addition to shedding the light on the relationship among the study variables. The research sample consists of 350 university students from both humanities and scientific majors at two faculties in a university in Egypt during the academic year 2021\2022. A quasi-experimental research design was used in this study to investigate the relationship among the variables of the study and to answer the proposed questions. As shown through the obtained results hybrid learning is considered one of the effective teaching and learning approaches, especially in recent years. During the COVID-19 pandemic using online learning was the most effective and available way to continue learning, however after this situation ends hybrid learning should be the basic method of learning especially for university students. The present study shows a positive significant correlation among the variables of the study including academic mindfulness, deep learning competencies levels, and hybrid learning, which stresses the importance of applying hybrid learning to have a high-quality outcome of the educational process.

Teaching the properties of geometric shapes in traditional ways does not help children to understand them, nor does it enable them to visualize them. It may need methods that correspond to the characteristics and tendencies of children and more interesting methods based on fun learning. Designing 3D geometric shapes with children through pop-up mechanisms can offer a solution to their difficulties. Therefore, the current research aims to verify the current geometric thinking skills of children and the development of their geometric thinking skills in terms of distinguishing between the names of 2D and 3D geometric shapes and the properties of 3D geometric shapes after presenting a program based on the pop-up design mechanisms. The researchers developed a program to teach children to distinguish between the names and properties of 3D geometric shapes based on the design mechanisms that emerge. It has been called 3D through pop-ups in kindergarten children (3D POP-UP in KC). The research sample consisted of 12 children of (5:6) age groups. The study adopted the qualitative approach; data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observation, video recordings of children's handiwork, and photos during application. The results indicated that the participating children have a limited understanding of geometric thinking skills regarding the nomenclature and properties of 2D and 3D geometric shapes according to the results of the pre-test. It was also found that it is possible to teach them some geometric thinking skills such as distinguishing 3D and D2 geometric shapes and knowing their properties through the proposed program (3D POP-UP in KC). This result was shown in the difference between the children's scores on the pre-and post-test.

While ChatGPT has recently become very popular, AI has a long history and philosophy. This paper intends to explore the promises and pitfalls of the Generative Pre-trained Transformer (GPT) AI and potentially future technologies by adopting a speculative methodology. Speculative future narratives with a specific focus on educational contexts are provided in an attempt to identify emerging themes and discuss their implications for education in the 21st century. Affordances of (using) AI in Education (AIEd) and possible adverse effects are identified and discussed which emerge from the narratives. It is argued that now is the best of times to define human vs AI contribution to education because AI can accomplish more and more educational activities that used to be the prerogative of human educators. Therefore, it is imperative to rethink the respective roles of technology and human educators in education with a future-oriented mindset.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of cognitive training (CT) using mobile applications on attentional control and impulsivity among pre-service teachers. Pre-service teachers were divided into two groups: experimental (n=25) and control (n=14) groups, they were selected from a large sample (n=718). Over 28 sessions, the training group engaged in CT tasks (the tower of Hanoi [TOH] and simple reaction time [SRT]), whereas the control group did not participate in training sessions or understand the main goal of the study. In the criterion tasks (matching familiar figures and numerical Stroop), all participants were pre- and post-tested. CT using mobile applications helps us see how the trained group's attentional control and impulsivity had influenced. we also observed the progress of trained group as measured by number of moves or time for TOH, and reaction time (RT) for SRT. Other effects were observed in comparison to a control group that underwent no training. There were changes in impulsivity in post-test in favor of training group according to number of moves, and time component of matching familiar figures test. Corresponding to attentional control, the finding indicated that there were changes in (number and size) RT component in post-test in favor of training group.

This study investigates the perceptions of a sample of Arab science teachers pertaining to the cultural factors affecting pupils learning processes in three Arab countries. A randomly sampled group of 169 science teachers from the three countries comprised the participants, Egypt (N=37), Yemen (N=53), and Saudi Arabia (N=79). A questionnaire consisting of 48 items measuring six cultural factors was used to collect data. Descriptive statistics and one-way ANOVA were used to analyse data. Results indicated that teachers in the three countries have a consensus that science is not exclusively an aspect of Western culture. Saudi Teachers' awareness of the influences of the cultural factors on science education was clearer than that of the Egyptian and the Yemeni teachers. There were significant differences in the nature of science subscale, common everyday scientific knowledge subscale, and classroom science teaching and learning subscale, while there were no significant differences in science, culture and community subscale, science learning subscale, and science and real-life subscale. Scheffe post hoc test indicated that Saudi teachers scored higher than their Yemeni peers in their perceptions of nature of science subscale and common everyday scientific knowledge subscale while Egyptian teachers were more likely than Yemeni teachers to perceive cultural factors affecting classroom science teaching and learning. We concluded that cultural factors could facilitate or debilitate science education in schools. It is vital to increase science teachers' awareness of the role that cultural factors play in facilitating science instruction and learning.

Foresight studies conducted by the College of Social Work at Assiut University, Egypt, have enabled us to identify key variables that may enhance its strength by 2030. This study presents a conceptual framework based on the methodology and findings of implementing the Matrix of Cross Impacts Multiplication Applied to a Classification (MICMAC) method, aimed at determining significance through degrees of influence and dependence among one another. To attain the objective of this article, Delphi was employed to analyze 42 key variables, which were subsequently organized based on their respective significance. Among the 42 key variables, analysis has been conducted on 17, providing insights into enhancing the competitiveness and future prospects of these colleges. The findings have highlighted the noteworthy influence of variables like technology infrastructure, applied projects, and international cooperation on the robust assessment of the competitive landscape of the College of Social Work. The variables ranked second in terms of their significance impact on enhancing the institutional capacity of this college, encompassing strategic orientation, mobility, teacher, educational programs, student, scientific research, and innovation. Finally, this study serves as the initial step toward developing future scenarios aimed at enhancing the institution's competitive position.

The purpose of this research is to review peer-reviewed articles on the effects of e-learning on the academic performance of university students. The SCOPUS database was searched for peer-reviewed articles. The data obtained were analyzed using the content analysis method. Twenty-seven articles were found in journals indexed in the SCOPUS database and considered suitable for this study. Two researchers used the content analysis method to determine the effects of the articles reviewed. The results showed that studies in this area have increased in intensity in recent years. These studies were generally conducted over five years. It was found that quantitative methods were predominantly chosen. Researchers published most articles in 2021 and 2022. Most of the studies reviewed used a quantitative design, and only seven articles chose an experimental research design. Most studies were conducted in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Spain, India, Iran, and Turkey. The results show that different measurement instruments or tools were used to measure students' academic achievement. The impact of the peer-reviewed articles on the impact of e-learning on college students' academic achievement was examined in four categories. These categories are detailed in the results. Finally, pedagogical conclusions are drawn in light of the results obtained.

Most research that has explored integrating the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework into teacher education programs primarily utilized context-unspecific self-report instruments. This mixed-methods study explored the efficacy of integrating four domains of the TPACK framework in an EFL course on the perception and knowledge of (30) pre-service teachers in an Egyptian university. The study also investigated the effect of the TPACK-based course on participants' lesson plans and teaching practices. Data collection instruments included a test, a questionnaire, observation checklists, lesson plans, and semi-structured interviews. Quantitative analysis showed that pre-service teachers' knowledge and perception of PCK, TCK, TPK, and TPCK have significantly improved after the course. Qualitative analysis of participants' lesson plans, observation, and interviews revealed that participants moderately integrated technologies in their instruction and PCK was the most dominant in their teaching. The study provided implications for implementing TPACK in teachers' education programs.

In the context of online education, which has been growing as a common approach, this paper examines the impact of working while studying on university students' academic performance, namely Cumulative GPA (CGPA), as a rising trend in Egypt, especially after the pandemic and the shift into online learning. The research followed an exploratory survey method, namely a quantitative approach, with a sample of 361 students randomly selected using the convenience sampling method from a total of 3326 students, both working and non-working, from years 2 to 4 across the four schools at Nile University -- Cairo, Egypt. The study examines a cause-and-effect relationship between working students and their CGPA. Literature points out that with online education becoming a conventional mode, there has been an increase in "working while studying" in Egypt, which requires further investigation. Thus, this paper bridges this empirical gap as the first study of its kind by studying the case of Nile University working students and the effect of working while studying on their academic performance and their ability to strike a work-life balance. The study revealed a slightly negative relationship between working while studying and students' CGPA compared to non-working, as well as a negative effect on their work-life balance. The findings imply that a new mindset in the pedagogical system is needed, combining new assessment methods and modes of delivery to accommodate the rising trend. The study hasits own limitations, focusing on Egypt and specifically Nile University students.
