Workshop on Educational Innovation in Architecture (JIDA, http://revistes.upc.edu/ojs/index.php/JIDA) are a meeting point for professionals in teaching innovation in the field of Architecture. Its main aim is to present and share teaching experiences within several architecture disciplines. In this sense, the conference becomes a forum to discuss issues related to the daily pedagogical practice from a wide range of views both from national and international schools of Architecture. JIDA'17 goal is to improve the quality of learning in this specific field of knowledge and, more precisely, in the general training of architects. The five editions so far (2013-2017) have been developed under the initiative and coordination of the Grup per la Innovació i la Logística Docent en Arquitectura (GILDA), in cooperation with the Institut de Ciències de l'Educació (ICE-UPC). In the current monograph, we have included four communications which were presented in JIDA'S fifth edition (2017), and a preface by the Conference directors in which we discuss the global panorama of education in architecture in terms of teaching experiences collected in all previous JIDA's proceedings. Information about the Global Chinese Conference on Computers in Education (GCCCE) held at the Beijing Normal University in Beijing, China from June 3 to 6, 2017 is presented. The event was attended by greater than 300 individuals from different counties and they listened to the discussion of speakers on various topics such as seamless incorporation of big data systems, artificial intelligence and digital tools in the daily work by means of the Internet, mobile learning, and maker education.

The International Summit on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Education (EDUsummIT) is a global knowledge building community of researchers, educational practitioners, and policy makers aiming to create and disseminate ideas and knowledge to promote the integration of ICT in education. Four EDUsummITs have been convened in The Hague, Paris, Washington, D.C., and Bangkok resulting in the development of ideas and knowledge useful and useable to ICT in education communities in integrating digital technologies into educational practices worldwide. More than two-dozen presentations by EDUsummIT participants have advocated implementation of recommendations from this knowledge building community via national and international organizations such as UNESCO, IFIP, Kennisnet, ISTE, and SITE. This paper reports findings of an evaluative study conducted at the conclusion of EDUsummIT 2015 to investigate the effectiveness and impact of EDUsummIT. Evaluative findings are proposed by the authors as useful for continuous improvement of future EDUsummITs while also serving as guiding considerations for emerging communities of practice in other fields wishing to develop and disseminate recommendations for research-based best practices at the global level. The article discusses the use of augmented reality (AR) to enhance the classroom learning experience. Topics include development of AR app to enhance the exhibition of animal bones, the role of AR to construct a reality through virtual and mixed reality, and the use of situated learning theory and constructivist learning theory of AR to enhance the learning experiences of learners.

Building upon discussions by the Assessment Working Group at EDUsummIT 2013, this article reviews recent developments in technology enabled assessments of collaborative problem solving in order to point out where computerised assessments are particularly useful (and where non-computerised assessments need to be retained or developed) while assuring that the purposes and designs are transparent and empowering for teachers and learners. Technology enabled assessments of higher order critical thinking in a collaborative social context can provide data about the actions, communications and products created by a learner in a designed task space. Principled assessment design is required in order for such a space to provide trustworthy evidence of learning, and the design must incorporate and take account of the engagement of the audiences for the assessment as well as vary with the purposes and contexts of the assessment. Technology enhanced assessment enables in-depth unobtrusive documentation or 'quiet assessment' of the many layers and dynamics of authentic performance and allows greater flexibility and dynamic interactions in and among the design features. Most important for assessment FOR learning, are interactive features that allow the learner to turn up or down the intensity, amount and sharpness of the information needed for self-absorption and adoption of the feedback. Most important in assessment OF learning, are features that compare the learner with external standards of performance. Most important in assessment AS learning, are features that allow multiple performances and a wide array of affordances for authentic action, communication and the production of artefacts. EduSummIT 2013 featured a working group that examined digital citizenship within a global context. Group members recognized that, given today's international, regional, political, and social dynamics, the notion of 'global' might be more aspirational than practical. The development of informed policies and practices serving and involving as many sectors of society as possible is desirable since a growing world's population, including students in classrooms, will have continued access to the Internet, mobile devices and social media. Action steps to guide technology integration into educational settings must address the following factors: national and local policies, bandwidth and technology infrastructure, educational contexts, cyber-safety and cyberwellness practices and privacy accountability. Finally, in the process of developing and implementing positive and productive solutions, as many key members and stakeholders as possible who share in-and benefit from-students' digital lives should be involved, from families and educators to law enforcement authorities, from telecommunication organizations to local, provincial and national leaders. This article details the experience of one Educational Technology program's efforts to use the Association of Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) as an integral part of the mentoring experience for its graduate students. Outlined is how the program has held the resident doctoral seminar at annual AECT conferences and at the Summer Leadership meetings. In addition, anecdotes written by four different students detail their experiences being mentored within the AECT organization and how it has impacted them as new professionals within the field of Educational Technology. One hundred and thirty speakers and delegates met in London for the fifth annual meeting of the European CME Forum which took place on 15 and 16 November 2012. Over the two days, current and future trends in European Continuing Medical Education (CME) were examined, discussed and debated. The meeting employed a mixture of styles: plenary presentations, workshops and panel discussion, but with a high focus on open question-and-answer interaction between speakers and delegates. The predominant target audience comprised people with an interest in European CME including the accreditation bodies, scientific societies, education providers, medical communications agencies and industry supporters. Each interest group had a dedicated meeting on the day before the formal programme; European pharmaceutical company involvement, scientific societies and the Good CME Practice Group which announced that following the publication of its recent work, it was opening its membership to all qualifying providers. A pre-meeting needs assessment was carried out which informed the programme structure and led to a more interactive format. Session themes included the new European Accreditation Council for CME (EACCME) accreditation criteria, e-learning, panel discussions with experts from throughout Europe as well as CME professionals from the USA, Canada, India and Australia.
