The increasing population density in urban areas causes limited land, so vertical housing solutions such as flats, apartments and condominiums are needed as a solution to provide vertical housing for people living in urban areas. The application of ecological architecture in vertical residential buildings is due to environmental problems which are getting worse due to uncontrolled urbanization. The solution to overcome this problem is to create vertical residential buildings, such as flats, apartments and condominiums. The discussion in this journal aims to understand the concept of ecological architecture in vertical residential buildings, understand the elements of ecological architecture in vertical residential buildings and as a reference in creating vertical residential buildings. This research method uses descriptive qualitative research methods. With the results of research studying the concept of ecological architecture in the Zaferaniye Garden Complex building, it can be concluded that this building can be categorized as an ecological architectural concept because it has implemented the basic principles needed to create an ideal vertical residential building design as a residence, especially in urban areas. This paper critically examines the prevailing paradigms of environmental and spatial justice, emphasising the existing disparities in policies that predominantly favour human interests while overlooking the fundamental rights and well-being of non-human species. Despite the growing acknowledgement of the importance of establishing a deeper connection between human and non-human actors for overall well-being, a pervasive speciesism mindset persists, distancing humans from the broader natural world. This separation from nature profoundly influences the formulation of policies and justice, establishing a bias that focuses primarily on human concerns and environmental conditions tailored to human well-being. Architects and planners, despite possessing the potential to enrich habitats for various species, frequently adopt human-centric approaches that marginalise other-than-human entities, restricting their access to the immediate surroundings of human territories and impeding opportunities for immersive nature experiences. This article advocates for a comprehensive paradigm shift in architectural practices, urging a more inclusive and equitable approach that extends spatial and environmental justice to encompass the diverse needs and rights of both human and non-human species within the urban landscape. The conclusions underscore the urgent need for architects and planners to re-evaluate their approaches, fostering an environment that supports coexistence and acknowledges the interconnectedness of all species. In the face of global biodiversity concerns and international frameworks such as the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, the research contributes to the discourse on sustainable and ethical design practices, advocating for a future where spatial and environmental justice extends its reach beyond the confines of human experience to create a respectful and just coexistence with the entire ecological community.

Societies have reflected their cultures and lifestyles through the environment they have shaped. This is also true for minority groups in society. Environmental problems arise due to the use of all resources for cheap and fast production without considering the result of technological developments. Changes in nature, which form the basis of many disaster scenarios, also require urgent measures to be taken in many areas. Efforts should be made to minimize the damage to the environment. In this context, as in many other fields, the number of studies on ecology and sustainability in the field of architecture is increasing day by day. Ecological building designs are the most important reflection of this. In this direction, the development of certification systems and the promotion of ecological structures come to the fore. The research looks at the concepts of ecology and sustainability from a different perspective and traces the ecological architecture through a residential building belonging to minorities that can be qualified as a historical cultural heritage and located in the Yukarı Talas locality of Talas district of Kayseri. In order to produce sustainable designs in places where life is lived, it is considered important to consider the way in which human beings shape the environment in which they live in the historical process, also in minority architecture. Within the scope of the study, the mansion in Talas, Kayseri, which was built in the 19th century and passed from an Armenian family to a Turkish family in the process, was evaluated within the scope of today's ecological architecture criteria and it was found that a significant part of these criteria was met in this building. The mansion is discussed in terms of ecology, energy, economy, indoor environmental quality, health and welfare, innovation, management, land use, transportation, renewable technology, water, environmental pollution, CO2 emission, material and waste criteria. In the study; It has been determined that there are ecological approaches to the historical minority mansion. With reference to the findings, suggestions have been developed to produce ecological, nature-friendly and energy efficient structures for today and the future.

Buildings that cause energy and resource consumption during the construction, use and demolition stages damage ecological values, increase waste generation and negatively affect health and comfort conditions. In order to solve the aforementioned problems, it is of great importance to investigate ecological applications and to design buildings suitable for ecological architecture. Therefore, in this study, a model proposal is presented that aims to evaluate traditional rural housing examples from an ecological perspective and to reveal practices that can shed light on today's buildings. This model proposal, created by the first author in his doctoral thesis titled "A model proposal for the ecological evaluation of the traditional rural houses: Case of Yalova", prepared under the supervision of the second author, is objective, practical, guiding and also can be used in five different climatic regions of Turkey. The model proposal consists of four basic stages: Performance criteria, scoring system, evaluation standards and implementation tools. In the model proposal where scoring is made out of 100; There are five main categories of evaluation: land conservation and ecological values, energy conservation, water conservation, material conservation and indoor environmental quality. Yalova was chosen as the study area for testing the model proposal. The building sample evaluated in ecological terms achieved a success degree of "GOOD" by showing a success rate of 75.90%. Global warming encourage people to care more about energy consumption. Metropolitan city like Surabaya has a complex problem in it such as high density, fast growth and development, high energy consumption, and many more. Ecological city supposed to encourage smart citizen, environmentally friendly and humane. It obviously not easy, requires good cooperation between the government, sector managers and the community. The Surabaya mayor's approach and the socialization of the importance of implementing green architecture in each area have succeeded in raising public awareness to create a harmonious, ecological and energy-conscious environment. Apart from the ecological aspects, what makes Surabaya the most advanced city in Indonesia is economic growth. The fast economic growth cannot be separated from the motivation of the Mayor of Surabaya in growing small and medium industries. Kampung Gundih is one of the kampong that has successfully implemented the ecological concept and has become the most advanced home industry in Surabaya by winning the Surabaya Green and Clean in recent years. This study aims to identify and describe the application of Green architecture and ecological concepts in small industrial-based settlements in Kampung Gundih, Surabaya. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The results obtained are a review of the implementation of the concept of ecological architecture in rural areas and small industries, a description of the integrated water management process, and environmental management strategies in Kampung Gundih Surabaya.

The tourism potential of Klayar Beach in Pacitan Regency is increasing along with the development of tourism programs in Indonesia which include the development of coastal areas as natural tourism destinations. The development of the coastal area for the development of the potential of local tourism based on nature requires a handling strategy that takes into account a number of considerations that are in harmony with the environment so that disaster-prone constraints can be minimized, including covering aspects of nature conservation. The strategy for developing Klayar Beach can be done through the application of the principles of Ecological Architecture. The research location in the Klayar Beach area is one of the 9 (nine) priority tourism destinations in the Regency of Pacitan. This study aims to find a regional structuring strategy with the application of the principles of ecological architecture, namely optimizing the value of regional potential and still considering the sustainability of nature. The research uses a descriptive qualitative method by conducting surveys through observation, interviews and comparing theories with relevant regulations. The results of the study are regional structuring strategies to develop the potential of Klayar Beach through structuring tourism areas in accordance with local elements and local culture as well as integrated nature conservation so that it becomes a sustainable tourism destination.

The use of proportions derived from nature in traditional architecture is a constant principle in the interactions between structural and physical environments. It has been shown that having an intrinsic relationship with nature can lead to formal similarities. This study attempts to determine the compatibility of common geometric proportions used in traditional houses with daylight performance and natural proportions of the surrounding physical environment so as to recognize the most compatible structural layout with nature. To this end, 28 Shahneshin rooms were chosen from 21 traditional houses in Ardabil. The required data were collected via field observation and logical reasoning and then numerical analyses were conducted on them. After that, using frequency diagram and mean coefficient of variation, the distribution pattern of the proportions employed in the Shahneshin rooms were determined. Finally, the compatibility of geometric proportions and skylight characteristics with daylight perimeter zone was examined through numerical analyses. The results obtained from the most common structural layouts indicated that in traditional architecture, physical environment and structural environment were compatible and interacted with each other; 95% of the prevalent proportions in the traditional houses of Ardabil appeared to follow arithmetic ratios and many of them were found to follow golden proportions. Moreover, they were observed to have the highest level of overlap with the frequency distribution and perimeter zone of daylight. This research presents the process of developing the ′Sanneoul′ Eco-village, located in South Korea, and describes community life in the village. Sanneoul village was created to welcome urban dwellers who choose to return to rural life and to prevent the exodus of the population in rural areas. The village features eco-friendly architecture and utility systems within which the residents live as a community. Nearly fifty community meetings were held by the residents of the village from the beginning to the end of the construction process. They received public funds to cover most of the basic costs for the village construction, and the households moving in as residents covered only the costs of the property, land, and buildings. This advantage is one of the important factors that attract city dwellers to return to rural areas. The ecological systems installed within the village include rainwater recycling, grass blocks, rooftop gardens, and an ecological sewage disposal plant. The ecological elements of the architecture are the sunlight and solar heat system, pellet boiler, fireplace, and ′ondol′ floor heating. The residents actively participate in recycling garbage, food waste, and feces. The village residents are contented with the eco-friendly aspects of the village and have been active participants of the system.

This research methodology uses descriptive and literature studies. this research attempts to analyze the design work with the concept of ecological architecture, based on the theory of ecological architecture from (Heinz Frick., 2006). The results of this study indicate that this Residence is a small example of the application of ‘Ecological Architecture’.The parameters can be seen from Adjusting design work to the environment, maintaining environmental resources, saving natural energy sources, utilizing natural resources around the area for building systems, both related to building materials and for building utilities. Implement 4R (reduce, reuse, recycle, repair) on the material used. the type of material that can be returned to nature in accordance with the cycle. with a building orientation pattern (east-west) to dominant vista facing north-south to become the center of sensing into the interior layout along with the parks and water spots.

The film Silent Running (1972) transforms the popular environmental figuration of Spaceship Earth into a science fiction narrative. The film is set on the Valley Forge, a spaceship that contains within biodomes the last of certain Earth ecosystems. By creating a literal equivalent to the metaphor of the earth as spaceship, Silent Running allows for a reading of the trope that exposes contradictions within the environmental politics of the 1960s and 70s. Through an exploration of the relationship between the figure of metaphor and environmentalism, this paper asserts the important role that language serves in the shaping of our relationships with the nonhuman world. A close analysis of examples of Spaceship Earth from photography, discourse, and film reveals the complicated ways in which the trope shapes environmental thinking. In the 1970s the metaphor of Spaceship Earth became synonymous with the images of the earth brought back from space by the Apollo missions. The metaphor and the images combine to emphasize the uniqueness, fragility, and beauty of our planetary environment. When Silent Running takes the figure of Spaceship Earth and re-visualizes it as the Valley Forge, however, the trope's utopian character is called into question. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

For many years, the research on engineering construction in alpine regions has been carried out very early in the world, but the research on the impact of engineering construction projects on regional ecological environment is relatively lagging behind. From the perspective of the impact of ecological environment factors, relevant research focuses on the impact of construction projects on permafrost and vegetation, wetland, land desertification, wildlife and nature reserves in alpine regions for many years. In the study of the methods of ecological environment impact prediction and evaluation, the related research focuses on the prediction and evaluation of the impact of soil erosion in permafrost and alpine regions for many years. The paper explores conditions and possibilities for innovation activity in the field of architecture of Syrian hotels. A concept of “innovation” applied to architectural activity has been analyzed in the paper. Hitherto there is no unequivocal interpretation of effects due to innovation activity not only in respect of hotel architecture but also in respect of architecture as a whole and it concerns urban planning, climatic and socioeconomic conditions of Syria. Factors determining innovative development represent natural, industrial, scientific and technical, technological and other resources. An effort to avoid outof-date design solutions, requirements in development and growth of economic and social living standards can be considered as a driving force for qualitative development of hotel architecture in the resort areas of Syria. Prior to outbreak hostilities in the country the economic and social living standards have been achieved commonly due to high tourist activity. Naturalclimatic and historical potential of Syria contribute to an increase of tourist flows and quantitative composition of hotels. So the purpose of the paper is to reveal the possibilities for qualitative development of new architecture in respect of resort hotels, as the most required hotels by tourists in Syria. It is an obvious fact that architecture of hotels should not only reflect traditions and culture of the region, but it must be also technically modern in order to satisfy a global principle of sustainable development.

The paper deals with architectural method impact on the environment. Il provides an overview of the widely known system of green roofs and puts the emphasis on, so to speak, new system of 'vertical gardens ' that is, with all the positive qualities that entails, still a kind of enigma. The needs of mankind for a healthy environment are generally known but it is also known that the largest cause of environmental degradation is mankind itself. The paper points out the ways of implementing the greenery in urban areas through architectural solutions in the form of greening facades and roofs.

Historical fabrics of the cities reflect the cultural backgrounds of the societies. For centuries in historical urban settlements formed via experiences the most appropriate structure type to the climatic conditions and the region, has been produced. With the industrial revolution, to be able to have more comfortable places in the settlement, fossil fuel based energy consumption began to be generally preferred. As a result, the ecological balance in the nature has begun to deteriorate in an irrevocable way. To find a solution for the situation, in ecological architecture and planning issues various ecological structure criteria is defined. Accordingly, buildings appropriate to the local and climatic characteristics are meant to be constructed besides the use of renewable energy sources and minimizing energy consumption. When historical city fabrics are analyzed in the ecological context, one can observe that these include sustainable structure characteristics. In order for the buildings to be renewed and restored in accordance with their original structures, great care should be given in terms of financial resource, manpower, material and control.Antalya Kaleiçi which was chosen as the working area was analyzed in terms of settlement structure, building form and structure cover, place organization, material choice, renewable, clean energy usage and water saving and usage and it was determined to have ecological, sustainable settlement characteristics. Traditional architecture samples which have been built by the people after trial and error for centuries and with the solutions appropriate to the climatic and environmental conditions are highly appropriate to the ecological design criteria as structures and settlements peculiar to the district. However the mistakes in the restoration of the buildings used for touristic aims after 1970s, adding of new necessary functions to the buildings, not taking care of the original structure and materials show that historical urban fabric of the city is faced with the danger of losing its ecological feature.In this study, Antalya-Kaleiçi historical urban settlement which was built in the context of the ecological design criteria and which has conventional houses that achieved to reach our day has been discussed. When houses with historical fabric which are experiencing a function shift to ensure sustainability in today's conditions are analyzed in terms of ecological design criteria, we will mention the sustainability of the criteria obtained in terms of availability and the problems faced with the restoration.
