Abstract

Mathematical Selection is a method in which we select a particular choice from a set of such. It have always been an interesting field of study for mathematicians. Combinatorial optimisation is the practice of selecting the best constituent from a collection of prospective possibilities according to some particular characterization. In simple cases, an optimal process problem encompasses identifying components out of a finite arrangement and establishing the function's significance in possible to lessen or achieve maximum with a functional purpose. To extrapolate optimisation theory, it employs a wide range of mathematical concepts. Optimisation, when applied to a variety of different types of optimization algorithms, necessitates determining the best consequences of the specific predetermined characteristic in a particular circumstance. In this work, we will be working on one similar problem - The Maximal Stretch Problem with computational rigour. Beginning with the Problem Statement itself, we will be developing numerous step - by - step algorithms to solve the problem, and will finally pose a comparison between them on the basis of their Computational Complexity. The article entails around the Brute Force Solution, A Recursive Approach to deal with the problem, and finally a Dynamically Programmed Approach for the same.

Abstract

Time Complexity is an important metric to compare algorithms based on their cardinality. The commonly used, trivial notations to qualify the same are the Big-Oh, Big-Omega, Big-Theta, Small-Oh, and Small-Omega Notations. All of them, consider time a part of the real entity, i.e., Time coincides with the horizontal axis in the argand plane. But what if the Time rather than completely coinciding with the real axis of the argand plane, makes some angle with it? We are trying to focus on the case when the Time Complexity will have both real and imaginary components. For Instance, if $T\left(n\right)=\ n\log{n}$, the existing asymptomatic notations are capable of handling that in real time But, if we come across a problem where, $T\left(n\right)=\ n\log{n}+i\cdot n^2$, where, $i=\sqrt[2]{-1}$, the existing asymptomatic notations will not be able to catch up. To mitigate the same, in this research, we would consider proposing the Zeta Notation ($\zeta$), which would qualify Time in both the Real and Imaginary Axis, as per the Argand Plane.

Abstract

The detection of leaf diseases in plants generally involves visual observation of patterns appearing on the leaf surface. However, there are many diseases that are distinguished based on very subtle changes in these visually observable patterns. This paper attempts to identify plant leaf diseases using image processing techniques. The focus of this study is on the detection of citrus leaf canker disease. Canker is a bacterial infection of leaves. Symptoms of citrus cankers include brown spots on the leaves, often with a watery or oily appearance. The spots (called lesions in botany) are usually yellow. It is surrounded by a halo of the leaves and is found on both the top and bottom of the leaf. This paper describes various methods that have been used to detect citrus leaf canker disease. The methods used are histogram comparison and k-means clustering. Using these methods, citrus canker development was detected based on histograms generated based on leaf patterns. The results thus obtained can be used, after consultation with experts in the field of agriculture, to identify suitable treatments for the processes used.

In a broader sense, an optimization problem entails maximising or minimising a real function by systematically selecting input values from within an allowed set and computing the function's value. A broad region of applied mathematics is the generalisation of metaheuristic theory and methods to other formulations. More broadly, optimization entails determining the finest virtues of some fitness function, offered a fixed space, which may include a variety of distinct types of decision variables and contexts. In this work, we will be working on the famous Balanced Assignment Problem, and will propose a comparative analysis on the Complexity Metrics of Computational Time for different Notions of solving the Balanced Assignment Problem.

28. Denoising Hyperspectral Patches Between Manzius U & Boguslawsky M Lunar Craters from the Ch-1 M3 & Ch-2 IIRS Data.

Abstract

The Chandrayaan 3 (Ch-3) mission, as of the day (23rd of August 2023), is all set to explore the moon's surface in great detail. Scientists have carefully chosen the landing site based on data gathered from previous missions, namely Chandrayaan 2's (Ch-2) Imaging Infrared Spectrometer (IIRS) and Chandrayaan 1's (Ch-1) Moon Mineralogy Mapper (M3). Our research analyzes the data from the selected Ch-3 landing site by using sophisticated techniques to remove unwanted noise from the hyperspectral images provided by IIRS and M3. The IIRS on Ch-2 and M3 on Ch-1 captured valuable information differently, giving us a better understanding of the moon's composition and features. We aim to improve the quality of the Ch-3 landing site data by eliminating any interference caused by noise, making the images clearer and more useful. To achieve this, we're employing two denoising methods- HyRes (Automatic Hyperspectral Image Restoration Using Sparse and Low-Rank Modeling) and HyMiNoR (Hyperspectral Mixed Gaussian and Sparse Noise Reduction). These smart algorithms will help us reveal the true nature of the lunar landscape hidden beneath the noise, giving us better insights into the landing site's characteristics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Data are produced every single instant in the modern era of technological breakthroughs we live in today and is correctly termed as the lifeblood of today's world; whether it is Google or Meta, everyone depends on data to survive. But, with the immense surge in technological boom comes several backlashes that tend to pull it down; one similar instance is the data morphing or modification of the data unethically. In many jurisdictions, the phenomenon of data morphing is considered a severe offense, subject to lifelong imprisonment. There are several cases where data are altered to encrypt reliable details. Recently, in March 2023, Silicon Valley Bank collapsed following unrest prompted by increasing rates. Silicon Valley Bank ran out of money as entrepreneurial investors pulled investments to maintain their businesses afloat in a frigid backdrop for IPOs and individual financing. The bank's collapse was the biggest since the financial meltdown of 2008 and the second-largest commercial catastrophe in American history. By confirming the "Silicon Valley Bank" stock price data, we will delve further into the actual condition of whether there has been any data morphing in the data put forward by the Silicon Valley Bank. To accomplish the very same, we applied a very well-known statistical paradigm, Benford's Law and have cross-validated the results using comparable statistics, like Zipf's Law, to corroborate the findings. Benford's Law has several temporal proximities, known as conformal ranges, which provide a closer examination of the extent of data morphing that has occurred in the data presented by the various organizations. In this research for validating the stock price data, we have considered the opening, closing, and highest prices of stocks for a time frame of 36 years, between 1987 and 2023. Though it is worth mentioning that the data used for this research are coarse-grained, still since the validation is subjected to a larger time horizon of 36 years; Benford's Law and the similar statistics used in this article can point out any irregularities, which can result in some insight into the situation and into whether there has been any data morphing in the Stock Price data presented by SVB or not. This research has clearly shown that the stock price variations of the SVB diverge much from the permissible ranges, which can give a conclusive direction on further investigations in this issue by the responsible authorities. In addition, readers of this article must note that the conclusion formed about the topic discussed in this article is objective and entirely based on statistical analysis and factual figures presented by the Silicon Valley Bank Group.
