Favipiravir, an antiviral agent originally used for influenza infections, has become popular due to its beneficial signals in coronavirus disease. It is currently used in some countries within COVID-19 treatment protocols. This is an initial report of favipiravir-related fluorescence observed in three healthcare providers working in the same ward in our hospital. All three individuals had been diagnosed with COVID-19 two months earlier and were treated with favipiravir. None of the three individuals received hydroxychloroquine or tetracyclines. Wood’s light examination led to an incidental discovery of favipiravir-induced fluorescence involving the sclera, nails, and teeth. In all patients, white linear, square, and band-like specks of fluorescence were noticed on the sclera of both eyes, some teeth, and the proximal part of all fingernails and toenails. Exposure of the eyes to the Wood’s light was for a brief duration of 3 to 5 seconds during examination and photodocumentation. Favipiravir might cause bright white fluorescence of nails, sclera, and teeth, detectable by Wood’s light even two months after its cessation.

Idiopathic cutaneous angiosarcoma (CA) of the head and neck is a distinct subtype of angiosarcoma most commonly presenting as a single or multiple purple, bruise-like patches that arise de novo and enlarge over several months. In clinical practice, both misdiagnosis and delayed diagnosis are frequently encountered. Here, we present a case of idiopathic CA on the scalp with invasion to the cranium in a patient with breast cancer metastatic to the brain. The patient was initially misdiagnosed and mistreated with herpes zoster and breast cancer metastatic to the skin, which led to a delayed diagnosis by two months until dermatologic evaluation. The diagnosis was then firmly established as CA based on consistent clinical and histological features. Since the tumor was inoperable, radiotherapy and chemotherapy were been considered as the appropriate adjuvant modes of therapy. Despite an initial favorable response, the disease demonstrated a rapidly progressive course and the patient succumbed to the disease within six months. This report briefly reviews the clinical and histological portrait and management options for this aggressive tumor.

Bu araştırma ile okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin sınıf yönetimi stratejilerini kullanma sıklığına ilişkin görüşleri ile öğretmenlerin uyguladıkları sınıf yönetimi stratejileri arasındaki uygunluk durumlarının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu çalışma karma araştırma yöntem desenlerinden yakınsayan paralel desen kullanılarak, Ankara ilinde bulunan Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı'na bağlı bağımsız anaokullarında ve ilkokula bağlı anasınıflarında 2015-2016 yılları arasında çalışan gönüllü 72 okul öncesi öğretmeni ile yürütülmüştür. Çalışma grubunda bulunan öğretmenlerden, `Gönüllü Katılım Belgesi` ile sınıf içerisinde gözlem yapabilmek için gerekli izinler alınmıştır. Çalışmanın nicel boyutuna ilişkin veriler; `Kişisel Bilgi Formu`, `Sınıf Yönetiminde Öğretmen Stratejileri Envanteri Özel Öğretim Teknikleri Ölçeği`nden elde edilmiştir. Çalışmanın diğer boyutunda ise bütün öğretmenlerin sınıfında tam gün gözlem sürecinde yapılan anektod kayıtların yanında bu süreçte elde edilen bilgiler çerçevesinde doldurulan `Öğretmen Stratejileri Uygulama Formu` aracılığı ile nitel verilere ulaşılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde betimsel istatistikler, tek yönlü varyans analizi, Scheffe Testi, Kruskal Wallis H Testi, Mann Whitney U Testi ile Bonferroni düzeltmesi kullanılmıştır. Veriler incelendiğinde öğretmenlerin sınıf yönetimi stratejilerinde baskılayıcı teknikleri daha çok kullandıklarının saptanmasının yanı sıra geliştirici stratejilere de süreç içerisinde yer verdikleri belirlenmiştir. Bir diğer bulguda ise okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin geliştirici ve baskılayıcı özel öğretim tekniklerini kullanma düzeylerinin sınıf yönetimi stratejilerini uygulama düzeylerini genel olarak değiştirmediği görülmüştür. Buna rağmen öğretmenlerin geliştirici teknikleri kullanmaları sonucunda etkinlikler arası geçişlerde daha az zaman kaybı yaşadıkları ve istendik davranışları daha fazla destekledikleri bulunmuştur. Bir başka bulguda ise geçişlerde sakin kalan öğretmenlerin baskılayıcı stratejileri kullandıkları tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmanın nitel bulgularında ise öğretmenlerin sınıf ortamına, davranış edinimine, duygu düzenlemesi ve problem çözmeye, disiplin sağlamaya ilişkin stratejileri etkili ve aktif biçimde kullanamadıkları belirlenmiştir. Eğitim akışı ve geçişlere, etkinlik sürecine ilişkin sınıf yönetimi stratejileri aktif olarak kullanılsa da öğretmenlerin desteklenmeye ihtiyaç duydukları; bireysel öğretime, iletişim ve ilişkilerin düzenlenmesine ilişkin stratejileri genel olarak aktif biçimde kullandıkları sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. This study aims to find out the conformity between the pre-school teachers opinions on the frequency of using classroom management strategies and the strategies that teachers actually adopt. The research is mixed method research and carried out by applying the convergent parallel design with 72 volunteer pre-school teachers who work for independent pre-schools which serve under The Turkish Ministry of Education and for nursery schools which are connected to primary schools in Ankara between the years 2015 and 2016. The necessary permission for in-class observation is obtained from teachers in the study group via `Letter of Voluntary Participation`. The data related to the quantitative aspect of the study were obtained via `Personal Information Form` and `The Scale of Special Teaching Methods Inventory of Teacher Strategies in Classroom Management`. In the other aspect of the study, both the anecdote recordings made through a whole-day observation in all teachers' classes and `Teacher Strategy Adaptation From` which was filled according to the information got from the observations led to the collection of qualitative data. While the data are analyzed, descriptive statistics, One Way Analysis of Variance, Scheffe Test, Kruskal Wallis H Test, Mann Whitney U Test and Bonferroni Correction were used. When the data were analyzed, it was concluded that teachers use repressive strategies more common and constructive strategies within the process. Other aspects of the findings show that the level of use of repressive and constructive special teaching methods of pre-school teachers has no effect on the level of the adaptation of classroom management strategies. Nevertheless, it was concluded that teachers lose less time in transitions to following activities and promote terminal behavior more when they make use of constructive strategies. Another finding suggests that teachers who remain calm during transitions use repressive strategies. Qualitative findings of the study show that teachers cannot use the strategies related to classroom environment, behavior acquisition, emotion regulation, problem solving and discipline effectively and actively. It was concluded that teachers can use strategies related to individual teaching, communication and interaction regulation. Although the classroom management strategies related to transitions and the activity process are used actively, it was concluded that teachers need support in the field to improve.
