The analysis of electrical load curves collected by smart meters is a key step for many energy management tasks ranging from consumption forecasting and load monitoring to customers characterization and segmentation. In this context, researchers from EDF R&D are interested in extracting significant information from the daily electrical load curves in order to compare the consumption behaviors of different buildings. The strategy followed by the group which hosted my doctorate is to use physical and deterministic models based on information such as the room size, the insulating materials or weather data, or to extract hand-designed patterns from the electrical load curves based on the knowledge of experts. Given the growing amount of data collected, the interest of the group in statistical or data-driven methods has increased significantly in recent years. These approaches should provide new solutions capable of exploiting massive data without relying on expensive processing and expert knowledge. My work fits directly into this trend by proposing two modeling approaches: the first approach is based on functional time series and the second one is based on non-negative tensor factorization. This thesis is split into three main parts. In the first part, we present the industrial context and the practical objective of the thesis, as well as an exploratory analysis of the data and a discussion on the two modeling approaches proposed. In the second part, we follow the first modeling approach and provide a thorough study of the spectral theory for functional time series. Finally, the second modeling approach based on non-negative tensor factorization is presented in the third part., L'analyse des courbes de charge électrique recueillies par les compteurs intelligents est une étape importante pour de nombreuses tâches de maîtrise d'énergie telles que le suivi et la prévision de la consommation ou la segmentation de clientèle. Dans ce contexte, les chercheurs d'EDF s'intéressent à extraire des informations des courbes de charge électrique journalières pour comparer les consommations de différents bâtiments. La stratégie suivie par le groupe de recherche accueillant mon doctorat consiste à utiliser des modèles physiques et déterministes basés sur des informations telles que la taille de la pièce, les matériaux isolants ou la météo, ou à extraire à la main des motifs basés sur les connaissances d'experts. Compte tenu de la quantité croissante de données collectées, le groupe s’intéresse de plus en plus aux méthodes statistiques afin de fournir de nouvelles solutions capables d'exploiter des données massives sans s'appuyer sur des traitements coûteux et des connaissances d'experts. Mon travail s'inscrit directement dans cette tendance en proposant deux approches de modélisation : l'une basée sur les séries temporelles fonctionnelles et l'autre basée sur la factorisation non-négative de tenseurs. Cette thèse est structurée en trois parties. La première partie présente le contexte industriel et l'objectif pratique de la thèse, ainsi qu’une analyse exploratoire des données et une discussion sur les deux approches proposées. Dans la deuxième partie, nous suivons la première approche et étudions la théorie spectrale des séries temporelles fonctionnelles. La deuxième approche basée sur la factorisation non-négative de tenseurs est présentée dans la troisième partie.

The spectral theory for weakly stationary processes valued in a separable Hilbert space has known renewed interest in the past decade. However, the recent literature on this topic is oftenbased on restrictive assumptions or lacks important insights. In this paper, we follow earlier approaches which fully exploit the normal Hilbert module property of the space of Hilbert-valued random variables. This approach clarifies and completes the isomorphic relationship between the modular spectral domain to the modular time domain provided by the Gramian-Cramér representation. We also discuss the general Bochner theorem and provide useful results on the composition and inversion of lag-invariant linear filters. Finally, we derive the Cramér-Karhunen-Loève decomposition and harmonic functional principal component analysis without relying on simplifying assumptions.

In this paper, we review and clarify the construction of a spectral theory for weakly-stationary processes valued in a separable Hilbert space. We introduce the basic fundamental concepts and results of functional analysis and operator theory needed to follow the way paved by Payen in [52], Mandrekar and Salehi in [45] and Kakihara in [33]. They lead us to view the spectral representation of a weakly stationary Hilbert valued time series as a gramian isometry between its time domain and its spectral domain. Time invariant linear filters with Hilbert-valued inputs and outputs are then defined through their operator transfer functions in the spectral domain. General results on the composition and inversion of such filters follow naturally. Spectral representations have enjoyed a renewed interest in the context of functional time series. The gramian isometry between the time and spectral domains constitutes an interesting and enlightening complement to recent approaches such as the one proposed in [50]. We also provide an overview of recent statistical results for the spectralanalysis of functional time-series.

In this paper, we review and clarify the construction of a spectral theory for weakly-stationary processes valued in a separable Hilbert space. We emphasize the link with functional analysis and provide thorough discussions on the different approaches leading to fundamental results on representations in the spectral domain. The clearest and most complete way to view such representations relies on a Gramian isometry between the time domain and the spectral domain. This theory is particularly useful for modeling functional time series. In this context, we define time invariant operator-valued linear filters in the spectral domain and derive results on composition and inversion of such filters. The advantage of a spectral domain approach over a time domain approach is illustrated through the construction of a class of functional autoregressive fractionaly integrated moving average processes which extend the celebrated class of ARFIMA processes that have been widely and successfully used to model univariate time series. Such functional ARFIMA processes are natural counterparts to processes defined in the time domain that were previously introduced for modeling long range dependence in the context of functional time series.

Introduction : le paludisme est une infection parasitaire touchant particulièrement la population pédiatrique. Cette infection peut être prévenue et guérie par des thérapeutiques orales comme la méfloquine. Celle-ci n’est pas commercialisée sous forme galénique adaptée à l’enfant. Afin d’améliorer la prise en charge de l’infection dans la population pédiatrique, nous avons réfléchi à la préformulation d’une solution buvable de méfloquine. Les cyclodextrines présentent dans cette optique un intérêt évident. Matériels et Méthodes : nous avons étudié l’impact des cyclodextrines 2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrine (HPBCD) et per-(2,6-di-O-méthyl)-β -cyclodextrine (RAMEB) sur la solubilisation de la méfloquine. Une méthode de dosage par chromatographie liquide à ultra haute performance couplée à un détecteur ultraviolets (UHPLC-UV) a été mise au point. Des diagrammes de phases ont été réalisés et les interactions cyclodextrine-méfloquine ont été étudiées par HPLC-UV et par résonance magnétique nucléaire (RMN). La stabilité des solutions de méfloquine contenant des cyclodextrines a ensuite été évaluée. Résultats : la méthode de dosage de la méfloquine a été validée sur l’intervalle 0,05 à 5 mg/mL. La solubilité aqueuse de la méfloquine initialement comprise entre 0.4 et 4,8 mg/mL a été multipliée, en fonction du solvant, par 3 à 16 en présence d’HPBCD et par 6 à 59 avec la RAMEB. Les cyclodextrines ont formé de multiples complexes d’inclusion avec les différents diastéréoisomères de la méfloquine avec une stœchiométrie 1:1. L’efficience de la complexation était de 0.075 à 0.131 avec HPBCD et de 0.270 à 0.75 avec RAMEB. Les constantes d’association étaient comprises entre 5 M-1 et 64 M-1 avec l’HPBCD et entre 16 M-1 et 161 M-1 avec la RAMEB selon les méthodes de mesure. Les cyclodextrines permettent, de préserver la stabilité des solutions de méfloquine notamment conservées sous exposition lumineuse. Discussion : les valeurs de la solubilité aqueuse et des constantes d’association des complexes d’inclusion sont similaires aux valeurs retrouvées dans la littérature. Conclusion : les cyclodextrines peuvent être utilisées pour formuler une solution de méfloquine concentrée. Leur impact sur la biodisponibilité et la palatabilité reste à explorer.

We introduce Reed-Solomon-Gabidulin codes which is, at the same time, an extension to Reed-Solomon codes on the one hand and Gabidulin codes on the other hand. We prove that our codes have good properties with respect to the minimal distance and design an efficient decoding algorithm.
