Le diagnostic de la maladie de Sjögren (MSj) repose en partie sur le focus score (FS) qui analyse le nombre d'agrégats lymphocytaires dans la biopsie des glandes salivaires accessoires (BGSA). Or ce FS est difficile à évaluer en dehors de centres experts. La relecture du focus score conduit à un reclassement du diagnostic dans la moitié des cas, le plus souvent vers l'absence de MSj. L'objectif de l'étude PATHSAI était d'utiliser l'intelligence artificielle pour effectuer la prédiction automatique du FS du diagnostic de MSj basé seulement sur la BGSA. Le second objectif était d'identifier les pattern histologiques associés à cette prédiction avec potentiellement d'autres patterns que le focus score. L'étude a porté sur des lames scannées de BGSA de 3 populations de patients : ceux atteints de sècheresse sans MSj et ceux atteints de MSj avec un FS ≥1 ou FS < 1. Les patients provenaient de 6 centres experts du consortium européen H2020 NECESSITY. Tous les patients atteints de MSj remplissaient les critères EULAR/ACR 2016. Un modèle de deep learning a été entraîné sur des lames de 5 centres et validé sur un sixième centre. Les valeurs de Shapley ont été utilisées pour expliquer les Résultats de la prédiction et un travail de clustering a permis de visualiser les pattern histologiques associés à la MSj. L'étude a porté sur 545 patients. Pour la tâche de prédiction FS, le modèle a atteint une AUROC de 0,88 [0,82–0,94] avec une spécificité de 93 % et une sensibilité de 60 % (Tableau 1). Pour la prédiction du diagnostic de MSj, le modèle a donné une AUROC de 0,89 [0,82–0,94] (Tableau 2). L'AUROC était meilleure sur la population SSA- 0.95 [0,87–1,0]. Parmi les patterns utilisés par le modèle pour prédire la MSj la présence de lymphocytes au sein de l'épithélium acinaire a été associé au diagnostic de MSj (Figure 1A). Ces lymphocytes ont été identifiés comme des lymphocytes T-CD8 par immunohistochimie (Figure 1B). L'étude PATHSAI a permis à des modèles de deep learning de prédire le focus score et la MSj en utilisant uniquement la BGSA de manière fiable. Les parties des lames utilisées pour la prédiction de la MSj nous ont permis de décrire un nouveau type d'infiltration lymphocytaire CD8 dans les acini, associé au diagnostic de MSj. This paper reports on the measurement of the thermal conductivity of ytterbium doped CaF2 transparent ceramics using the 3ω method. Samples with different doping levels were studied in a temperature range of 10K to 310 K. The results for doped samples are very similar to those obtained for Yb:CaF2 single crystals with the same doping levels, which demonstrates an important improvement in the thermal properties of transparent ceramics. However, the results obtained for non-doped ceramics and single crystals differ for the maximum conductivity due to the presence of grain boundaries inside the ceramic. Theoretical calculations were also conducted using Callaway's model and are in a very good agreement with experimental results. The fitting parameters found tend to indicate that the introduction of a doping element in the lattice has more impact on thermal conductivity than the presence of grain boundaries in the material. In all-optical pump-probe experiments on ferromagnetic layers, the determination of the temperature under the pump laser spot is crucial for a quantitative modeling of the magnetization dynamics. We present here a method to quantify this thermal gradient, exemplified on a (Ga, Mn)(As, P) ferromagnetic semiconductor layer on a GaAs substrate. To estimate the local steady-state temperature, we use the coercive field as a thermometer. The probe records the hysteresis cycle spatially across the hot spot, using the magnetic linear birefringence/dichroism of the sample. Our results are analyzed using the heat diffusion equation with two fitting parameters, the thermal conductivity of the layer/ substrate sample and the thermal resistance between the substrate and the thermostat. This opens the way to a quantitative modeling of laser pulse-triggered magnetization dynamics in the presence of transient temperature effects. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We present a new method to measure without any calibration the thermal effusivity, conductivity, and diffusivity of an insulating layer deposited on a substrate, using lateral heat diffusion. Thermoreflectance experiments are sensitive to the thermal properties of thin layers deposited on substrates (conductivity and diffusivity). However, retrieving these properties from experimental data remains a difficult issue. The case of a conducting layer deposited on an insulating substrate was studied previously. We present here a mathematical and experimental analysis of the thermoreflectance response in the opposite case: an insulating layer on a conducting substrate. We show theoretically that conductivity and diffusivity can be determined independently thanks to a comparison with the substrate. The method is applied to experiments performed on a silicon substrate covered with a thin layer deposited by sputtering a titanium target. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

New explicit analytical formulations of the solution of the heat diffusion equation are derived by using Bessel, Struve and Meijer-G functions in the 3[omega] geometry for bulk solids. The expressions have enabled rigorous derivations of the asymptotic behaviors and have indicated that the diffusivity is extracted from the phase data without any calibration.
