Experiments with changes in motion geometry can provide valuable data for engineering and development purposes, allowing a better understanding of the influence of tribological factors on the performance and service life of joints. The presented subject article focused on the experimental investigation of the influence of the geometry of the movement of the friction process on the change in the tribological properties of 30CrNiMo8 steel. The friction process was carried out without the use of a lubricant in contact with a steel ball of G40 material with a diameter of 4.76 mm. The steel ball performed two types of movement on the surface of the experimental material. The first method used was ball on disc, in which the ball moved reciprocally in an oval direction at an angle of 180° on a circumferential length of 35 mm at a speed of 5 mm/s. The second method consists of the same input parameters of the measurement, with the difference that the path along which the ball moved had a linear character. The load during the experiment was set at a constant value of 50 N with 1000 repetitions. The results show that with the ball on disc method, there was an increase in wear by 147% compared to the linear test method, which was approximately a coefficient of increase in wear of 2.468. EDS analysis pointed to the occurrence of oxidative wear that affected the resulting COF values, which were lower by 8% when using the ball on disc method due to a more uniform distribution of O and C on the surface of the friction groove where these elements acted as solid microlubricants. With the ball on disc method, defects in the form of microcracks occurred, which affected the reduction in the values of the depth of the affected area of microhardness. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper describes the effect of low-temperature plasma on increasing permanence of surface finish of textile materials using an antimicrobial nanosol. Selected textile materials (polyester and polyamide woven fabrics, polypropylene non-woven fabric) were pre-treated by surface activation with low-temperature plasma at atmospheric pressure and subsequently finished using an antimicrobial (AMB) nanosol with a concentration of 60 ppm Ag+, 120 ppm Ag+ in the application solution. The goal was to increase the permanence of AMB nano-coating of textiles after washing and drying. To verify the effect of low-temperature plasma on increasing the permanence of the nanolayer, washing and drying was performed in accordance with the STN EN ISO 6330 standard. To determine antibacterial activity and effectiveness of the nano-coated textile materials, a quantitative test method was used in accordance with the technical standard AATCC TM 100. Evaluation of the antibacterial activity of the textile materials was performed before washing and after 20 washing cycles. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The paper is focused on influencing the thickness of the TiAlN layer deposited using the high power pulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS) method on the inner surface of the tube. The HiPIMS method makes it possible to deposit layers at temperatures up to 400°C. An auxiliary cathode placed in the axis of the coated tube was used. The auxiliary cathode made it possible to deposit an AlTiN layer with a thickness in the center of the coated tube up to 45% higher compared to the thickness of the layer deposited without an auxiliary cathode. The layer thickness was measured to be from 1.5 µm to 2.2 µm for the layer deposited without an auxiliary cathode and 1.05 µm to 1.95 µm for the layer deposited with the wire as the cathode in the axis of the coated tube. The presented paper deals with the preparation of new rubber to steel adhesive systems using the steel surface treatment with deposition of adhesive coats based on Co(II) and Cu(II) sulphides. Efficiency of new prepared adhesive systems containing Co(II) and Cu(II) sulphides has been compared with the efficiency of double layer adhesive system commonly used in industry. The chemical composition of prepared adhesive systems was determined using the EDX analysis. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) was used for study of topography and microstructure of prepared rubber to steel adhesive systems (Co(II), Cu(II) sulphide, double layer adhesive system). For determination of adhesion strength between rubber blends and metal pieces with various adhesive systems deposited on these pieces, the test according to ASTM D429 standard relating to Rubber to metal adhesion, method A was used. For all test samples, the same type of rubber blend and the same curing conditions have been used.

The present paper deals with a targeted modification of two kinds of alternative additives - waste from glass production and natural mineral filler and explores their effect on the properties of polymeric materials. In the function of first alternative filler was used sludge from weighing the ingredients of glass batch in the glass production. The second used was natural aluminosilicate material based on zeolite (clinoptilolite). These alternative fillers have been modified in order to increase its efficiency, using the silanes: 3-aminopropyl-triethoxysilane, bis(triethoxysilyl)propyl-tetrasulfide and 3-(triethoxysilyl)propyl-methacrylate. In the case of alternative filler based on zeolite the influence of silanization conditions on the filler efficiency have been also studied. Prepared modified fillers were mixed into rubber compounds as partial replacement of commonly used filler – carbon black. The influence of prepared fillers on rheology and curing characteristics of rubber compounds and also on physical and mechanical properties of vulcanizates has been studied. Obtained results of measured characteristics of polymeric systems containing prepared alternative fillers were compared with the results obtained in the case of reference rubber compound with a commertially used filler – carbon black.

This paper deals with standard test method for the measurement of vibration-damping properties of materials, ductile cast iron - graphitic cast iron with the spherical shape of graphite (ductile cast iron). Investigation is focused on its mechanical properties, chemical composition and microstructure, which are necessary as input parameters for computational modeling and numerical analysis. The vibration or oscillating of experimental samples are closely connected with such parameters as natural shapes (eigenshapes) and natural frequencies (eigenfrequencies). Preparation of a geometric model of a homogeneous beam sample and numerical analysis was performed by finite element method in the ADINA software environment. This paper can be used for further development and growth from the aspect of application of computational tools in the area of damping and eigenfrequency properties for construction materials.

The aim of this paper was to evaluate the thermal and utility properties of sock goods. The sock assortment had a different material composition and knitted structure. Material analyses were performed on samples of socks before of measuring properties. The basis of the research was the determination of thermal insulation properties by using of a thermal imaging camera. To do this, it was necessary to know the changes in length and weight before and after wearing the socks. It has been proven that the temperature of the foot is different in the monitored parts and the composition of the textile material and change dimensions and weight does not significantly influence the thermal insulation properties of the evaluated assortment. The submitted study represents the research of alternative fillers based on polypropylene (PP) waste from the production of PP fibres and PP foils and its application in the polymeric materials applied in rubber industry. Properties of alternative fillers based on PP fibers and PP powder were studied by spectral and thermal analysis. The study is aimed at the use of polypropylene fibres and polypropylene powder as fillers in rubber blend as a partial replacement of carbon black. The influence of amount and the type of used alternative filler in rubber blend was evaluated. Curing characteristics of prepared tread blends were studied. Physical-mechanical properties before and after accelerated thermal aging in air and dynamical mechanical properties of prepared vulcanizates were determined and studied. The evaluation of prepared tread blends respectively tread vulcanizates results the possibility of partial replacement of common used carbon black N339 by studied PP fibres and PP powder. In the industrial field that manufactures products, which are used in electrical installations, copper is an essential part in terms of the use of materials. Due to excellent electrical and thermal properties compared to other metallic materials, copper is mainly used for the manufacture of electrical conductors of various cross-sections depending on the area of application, from small electronics to high-voltage conductors. In the manufacturing process, copper is subject to strict operating conditions, especially in terms of chemical purity, in order to ensure the required mechanical and electrical properties. The copper conductors which are subject of this study are made by cold drawing technology. In this production process, the input semi-finished product is a copper rod with a circular cross-section. This copper rod is formed by various number of dies which ensure the final diameter of the wire. The passage of wire through the individual dies during drawing has a disadvantageous influence and reveals an uneven distribution of strain intensity for the drawn material and causes the changes of mechanical properties along the wire cross-section [1]. Despite the various advantages of this manufacturing process, the drawing of wires leads to a reduction in plasticity, especially in the case of multiple drawing. Wires lose their strength due to the high presence of residual stresses that have arisen after pulling, which can negatively affect their function under operating conditions [2]. The above mention structural and mechanical changes are the subject of this study. The knowledge of this experiment can be beneficial for applications of mechanically loaded electrical conductors. The paper presents results of the research aimed at development of antibacterial (AMB) nanoadditives prepared by alternative methods using different types of nanocarriers. Results obtained by classical method of preparation-compounding of a carrier and a nanoaditive containing Ag ions, and by socalled progressive method using nanosols incorporating Ag, prepared by sol-gel technology, are compared. The prepared AMB nanoadditives were incorporated in two PP and PE polymer masterbatches with the aim to prepare solid AMB nanodispersions for additivation of PP fibres and PP, PE cast foils. Results from evaluation of antimicrobial efficiency of the AMB nanoadditives, applied on PP fibres and foils, against Escherichia coli CCM, performed according to the methods specified in AATCC 100: 2015 and ASTM E 2149, are reported. Identification of decreased corrosion resistance of metal components working in real conditions is often very difficult. The reason is hidden in the large number of factors that can cause corrosion. The most important factors are: type of material, its processing technology, the resulting structure as well as the environment where the given part is used. The content of this paper is closely connected with the identification and description relating to corrosion of the part which operated without any problems under the real conditions in the past.
