A series of chiral hybrid diphosphorus ligands incorporating a conformationally flexible tropos diphenylmethane-based phosphoramidite unit have been developed and evaluated in the Rh-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of 2-(1-arylvinyl)anilides and α-enamides, leading to up to >99% yield and 99% enantiomeric excess. Preliminary results from comparative studies showcased the extraordinary catalytic performance of these chiral tropos phosphine-phosphoramidite ligands, with a competency essentially superior to those of well-established ligands with a regular rigid backbone.

Aortic dissection (AD) poses a significant threat to cardiovascular health globally, yet its underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Smooth muscle cells death and phenotypic switching are critically important pathological processes in AD. Currently, no pharmacological therapies have proven effective in managing AD. This study aims to elucidate the involvement of ferroptosis in AD progression and explore ferroptosis inhibition as a potential therapeutic approach for AD management. Elevated expression of ferroptosis markers (HMOX1, ACSL4, and 4-HNE) was observed in AD patients and β-Aminopropionitrile (BAPN)-induced mice. In vivo administration of silibinin (SIL) attenuated aortic dilation, inflammation, mitochondrial injury, and ferroptosis. SIL treatment enhanced cell viability and mitochondrial function while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and mitigating ferroptosis in primary human aortic smooth muscle cells (HASMCs) induced by RSL3 or IKE. Mechanistically, RNA-sequencing analysis identified dysregulation of iron homeostasis and endoplasmic reticulum stress, which were modulated by SIL. Molecular docking, cellular thermal shift assay, drug affinity responsive target stability, and surface plasmon resonance analysis confirmed HMOX1 as a direct target of SIL, highlighting its role in modulating iron homeostasis. Moreover, NCT-502, a PHGDH inhibitor, reversed the protective effect of SIL in RSL3-induced HASMCs. Conversely, 4-PBA and ZnPP demonstrate a facilitative role. This suggests that SIL plays a crucial role in ferroptosis development by modulating iron homeostasis and endoplasmic reticulum stress-mediated serine biosynthesis, both in vitro and in vivo. Iron homeostasis and endoplasmic reticulum stress of HASMCs drive the development of aortic dissection. Three novel organic-inorganic polyoxoniobate-based compounds modified with Cu(II) amine complexes were synthesized under hydrothermal conditions with the chemical formulas as follows: K 0.5 [Cu(enMe) 2 ] 4 [K 0.5 SiNb 12 O 40 (VO) 4.25 ](OH) 1.5 ·9H 2 O (1), K 0.5 [Cu(enMe) 2 ] 4 [K 0.5 H 2 PNb 12 O 40 (VO) 2 ]·12.5H 2 O (2), and K 0.5 [Cu(enMe) 2 ] 4 [K 0.5 H 2 VNb 12 O 40 (VO) 2 ]·12.5H 2 O (3) (enMe = 1,2-diaminopropane). These compounds were characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy (IR), UV-Vis spectroscopy, elemental analysis and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) analysis. Notably, while these three compounds exhibit identical cell parameters, they possess distinct stoichiometric compositions and differing polyoxometalate building block structures. Typically, compounds with the same cell parameters are classified as isostructural, sharing identical structures with only minor elemental variations in their compositions. To the best of our knowledge, compounds 1-3 represent the first instances of compounds that share the same cell parameters yet are not isostructural. In this study, we not only synthesized these three compounds and thoroughly examined the differences in their structures and properties, but also investigated their catalytic performances as catalysts for the oxidation of styrene.

Herein, we report an efficient and straightforward approach for the synthesis of N -alkylated aminoquinoline derivatives by recyclable Cd-containing coordination polymer-catalyzed reactions of aminoquinolines with primary alcohols via the borrowing hydrogen strategy. In this work, a new type of coordination polymer [Cd(CIA)(phen) 2 (H 2 O)] n was successfully designed and fabricated. The molecular structure was corroborated by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and fully characterized by PXRD, FT-IR, TGA, and XPS. Importantly, this polymer revealed high catalytic activity for the N -alkylation reaction of 2-aminoquinoline and 8-aminoquinoline with inexpensive and low-toxicity alcohols as alkylating agents in excellent yields up to 95%. Interestingly, the present synthetic protocol was successfully applied for the gram-level synthesis of several biologically active compounds. In addition, several control reactions were carried out to investigate the possible mechanisms of this transformation. Finally, recycling experiments indicated that the cadmium coordination polymer showed good recovery performance for borrowing hydrogen reactions.

Objective: This study evaluated the reno-protective effects of quercetin in animal models of acute kidney injury (AKI). Methods: We conducted a systematic search of literature published before April 2023 in PubMed, Web of Science, and EMBASE databases. Methodological quality was assessed by SYRCLE's RoB tool. Funnel plot, Egger's test, and Begg's test were used to determine publication bias. Results: A total of 19 studies with 288 animals were included in this meta-analysis. The methodology quality scores of the included studies ranged from 4 to 7. The results indicated that quercetin reduced blood urea nitrogen (SMD = -4.78; 95% CI: 6.45, -3.12; p < 0.01; I 2 = 84%) and serum creatinine (SMD: 2.73, 95% CI: 3.66, -1.80; p < 0.01; I 2 = 80%) in AKI models. The result of sensitivity analysis was stable, while the results of funnel plot indicated asymmetric. In addition, we further analyzed inflammatory cytokines, oxidative stress levels, and kidney injury scores, and found that quercetin treatment had antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects and improved kidney injury scores in animal models of AKI. Conclusion: Quercetin exhibited a promising reno-protective effect in AKI animal models. Achieving transition-metal-catalyzed reactions of diene-ynes/diene-enes and carbon monoxide (CO) to deliver [4 + 2 + 1] cycloadducts, rather than the kinetically favored [2 + 2 + 1] products, is challenging. Here, we report that this can be solved by adding a cyclopropyl (CP) cap to the diene moiety of the original substrates. The resulting CP-capped diene-ynes/diene-enes can react with CO under Rh catalysis to give [4 + 2 + 1] cycloadducts exclusively without forming [2 + 2 + 1] products. This reaction has a broad scope and can be used to synthesize useful 5/7 bicycles with a CP moiety. Of the same importance, the CP moiety in the [4 + 2 + 1] cycloadducts can act as an intermediate group for further transformations so that other challenging bicyclic 5/7 and tricyclic 5/7/5, 5/7/6, and 5/7/7 skeletons, some of which are widely found in natural products, can be accessed. The mechanism of this [4 + 2 + 1] reaction has been investigated by quantum chemical calculations, and the role of the CP group in avoiding the possible side [2 + 2 + 1] reaction has been identified, showing that the [4 + 2 + 1] is controlled by releasing the ring strain in the methylenecyclopropyl (MCP) group (about 7 kcal/mol) in the CP-capped dienes.

Background and Aims: Pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAAD) is highly aggressive and characterized by a poor prognosis. Oxidative stress has great impacts on the occurrence and development of tumors. However, the predictive role of oxidative stress related genes on PAAD patients' prognosis remains unclear. In this study, we aimed to construct a prognostic model for PAAD based on oxidative stress genes and to evaluate its predictive value., Methods: The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and three Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) datasets were used to identify differentially expressed oxidative stress genes. Univariate Cox regression, Kaplan-Meier and multivariate Cox regression analysis were used to select genes and to construct a prognosis model. According to the median value of the model's risk score, patients were divided into high and low risk groups, and gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA), immune infiltration and immunotherapy effect, drug resistance and the expression of immune checkpoint related genes and synthetic driver genes of T cell proliferation were analyzed. Finally, the mRNA and protein levels of four genes in PAAD were verified by the clinical proteomic tumor analysis consortium (CPTAC) database and the immunostaining of patients' tissue., Results: 55 differentially expressed oxidative stress genes were identified, and four genes including MET, FYN, CTTN and CDK1 were selected to construct a prognosis model. GESA indicated that immune related pathways, metabolic pathways and DNA repair pathways were significantly enriched in the high risk group as compared to the low risk group. The frequency of genetic mutations was also significantly higher in high risk groups than that in low risk groups. Moreover, the infiltration level of 23 immune cells as well as the expression of immune checkpoint related and synthetic driver genes of T cell proliferation were significantly altered, with the better immunotherapy effect occurring in low risk group. We report a proof-of-principle demonstration of Shor's algorithm with photons generated by an on-demand semiconductor quantum dot single-photon source for the first time. A fully compiled version of Shor's algorithm for factoring 15 has been accomplished with a significantly reduced resource requirement that employs the four-photon cluster state. Genuine multiparticle entanglement properties are confirmed to reveal the quantum character of the algorithm and circuit. The implementation realizes the Shor's algorithm with deterministic photonic qubits, which opens new applications for cluster state beyond one-way quantum computing.

Objective: To analyze the clinical manifestations and laboratory features in patients with myeloid neoplasms complicated with clonal T large granular lymphocyte (T-LGL) proliferation. Methods: The clinical data of 5 patients with myeloid neoplasms complicated with clonal T-LGL proliferation from November 2017 to November 2018 in Institute of Hematology & Blood Diseases Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College were analyzed retrospectively. Results: The median age was 60 years old. All patients had a history of abnormal peripheral blood cell counts for over 6 months. The absolute lymphocyte count in peripheral blood was less than 1.0×10(9)/L. In addition to the typical T-LGL phenotype, the immunophenotype was heterogenous including CD4(+)CD8(-) in 2 patients, the other 3 CD4(-)CD8(+). Four patients were αβ type T cells, the other one was γδ type. STAT3 mutation was detected in 1 patient by next-generation sequencing, the other 4 cases were negative. Conclusions: Clonal T-LGL proliferation with myeloid neoplasm develops in an indolent manner, mainly in elderly patients. Hemocytopenia is the most common manifestation. The diagnosis of T-LGL proliferation does not have specific criteria, that it should be differentiated from other T cell proliferative disorders, such as T-cell clones of undetermined significance. STAT3 or STAT5b mutation may help distinguish.

We demonstrate fourth-order quantum beat between sunlight and single photons from a quantum dot. With a fast time-resolved detection system, we observed high-visibility quantum beat between the independent photons of different frequencies from the two astronomically separated light sources. The temporal dynamics of the beat oscillation indicate the coherent behavior of the interfering photons, and the raw visibility of two-photon interference shows violation of the classical limit with a frequency mismatch of three-times the line width.

We report an experiment to test quantum interference, entanglement, and nonlocality using two dissimilar photon sources, the Sun and a semiconductor quantum dot on the Earth, which are separated by ∼150  million kilometers. By making the otherwise vastly distinct photons indistinguishable in all degrees of freedom, we observe time-resolved two-photon quantum interference with a raw visibility of 0.796(17), well above the 0.5 classical limit, providing unambiguous evidence of the quantum nature of thermal light. Further, using the photons with no common history, we demonstrate postselected two-photon entanglement with a state fidelity of 0.826(24) and a violation of Bell inequality by 2.20(6). The experiment can be further extended to a larger scale using photons from distant stars and open a new route to quantum optics experiments at an astronomical scale.

By pulsed s-shell resonant excitation of a single quantum dot-micropillar system, we generate long streams of 1000 near-transform-limited single photons with high mutual indistinguishability. The Hong-Ou-Mandel interference of two photons is measured as a function of their emission time separation varying from 13 ns to 14.7  μs, where the visibility slightly drops from 95.9(2)% to a plateau of 92.1(5)% through a slow dephasing process occurring at a time scale of 0.7  μs. A temporal and spectral analysis reveals the pulsed resonance fluorescence single photons are close to the transform limit, which are readily useful for multiphoton entanglement and interferometry experiments.

Scalable photonic quantum technologies require on-demand single-photon sources with simultaneously high levels of purity, indistinguishability, and efficiency. These key features, however, have only been demonstrated separately in previous experiments. Here, by s-shell pulsed resonant excitation of a Purcell-enhanced quantum dot-micropillar system, we deterministically generate resonance fluorescence single photons which, at π pulse excitation, have an extraction efficiency of 66%, single-photon purity of 99.1%, and photon indistinguishability of 98.5%. Such a single-photon source for the first time combines the features of high efficiency and near-perfect levels of purity and indistinguishabilty, and thus opens the way to multiphoton experiments with semiconductor quantum dots.

A series of chiral 3-aryl-4-phosphonobutyric acid esters were synthesized in high enantioselectivities (93-98% ee) via the Rh-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of the corresponding 3-aryl-4-phosphonobutenoates using a P-stereogenic BoPhoz-type phosphine-aminophosphine ligand. The methodology has been successfully applied to the asymmetric synthesis of a potential GABA(B) antagonist, (R)-phaclofen, in high enantioselectivity.

An enantioselective synthesis of chiral alkylphosphonates bearing a beta-stereogenic center, based on the Rh-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of corresponding beta-substituted beta,gamma-unsaturated phosphonates with a ferrocene-based monophosphoramidite ligand under the mild hydrogenation conditions, was developed, in which an ee value of up to 98% was obtained.

A new class of chiral ferrocenyl diphosphine ligands with an imidazole ring, (R(c),S(Fc))-ImiFerroPhos, has been prepared from acylferrocenes through a five-step transformation and successfully applied in the Rh-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of various 3-aryl-substituted 2-phosphonomethylpropenoates, in which a series of chiral 3-phosphono-2-arylmethylpropanoic acid derivatives were achieved in ee values of up to 98%.

An enantioselective synthesis of optically active 1-aryl or 1-alkyl substituted ethylphosphonates, based on the first Rh-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of corresponding alpha,beta-unsaturated precursors with a P-stereogenic BoPhoz-type ligand under the mild condition, was developed, in which a wide range of 1-aryl or 1-alkyl substituted ethylphosphonates were achieved in up to 98% ee.

A series of chiral beta-aryl-substituted gamma-amino butyric acid derivatives were synthesized in good enantioselectivities via the Cu-catalyzed asymmetric conjugate reduction of gamma-phthalimido-alpha,beta-unsaturated carboxylic acid esters using Cu(OAc)2 x H2O as a catalyst precursor, (S)-BINAP as a ligand, PMHS as a hydride source, and t-BuOH as an additive. The methodology has been applied successfully to the enantioselective synthesis of a chiral pharmaceutical, (R)-baclofen.

A series of BoPhoz-type ligands were successfully applied in the rhodium-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of a number of beta-substituted or unsubstituted alpha-(phthalimidomethyl)acrylates, affording good to excellent enantioselectivities. The results suggested that the presence of an N-H proton in the BoPhoz backbone could significantly improve the enantioselectivity, and ligand (Sc,Rp)-1d, bearing two CF3-groups in the 3,5-position of the phenyl ring of aminophosphino moiety, showed the highest enantioselectivity.

A new class of unsymmetrical hybrid phosphine--aminophosphine ligands has been prepared from commercially available, inexpensive (S)-1-phenylethylamine through a concise synthetic procedure. These ligands are not very sensitive to air and moisture, and displayed good enantioselectivities in the Rh-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of various dimethyl alpha-benzoyloxyethenephosphonates bearing beta-aryl, beta-alkyl, and beta-alkoxy substituents and N-benzyloxycarbonyl alpha-enamido phosphonates, in which up to 97% ee was obtained. A side-by-side comparison study disclosed that these new phosphine--aminophosphine ligands showed better enantioselectivity than BoPhoz ligands.

A series of chiral beta-aryl-gamma-amino acid ester derivatives were synthesized in high enantioselectivities (93-97% ee) via the Rh-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of gamma-phthalimido-alpha,beta-unsaturated carboxylic acid esters using highly modular chiral BoPhoz-type phosphine-aminophosphine ligands. The method has been applied successfully to the synthesis of several chiral pharmaceuticals including (R)-baclofen and (R)-rolipram with high enantioselectivities.

An intensity modulated method by scanning for the focusing therapy machine is introduced in this paper. At first, the 3-D model of the focus is delaminated through the treatment planning system, and the dose distributing of each lay is calculated by an inverse design method. Then, the exposure time of the focus at each position is determined and converted to a scanning parameter, such as position, speed and so on. Afterward, the focus continuously scans the tumor at different speeds along the planned track under the control of the computer. Consequently the point-by- point intensity modulation is achieved through the diversification of the scanning speed of the focus.

A new family of air- and moisture-stable phosphine-phosphoramidite ligands (PEAPhos) has been prepared from commercially available and inexpensive (S)-alpha-phenylethylamine through a two- or three-step transformation and successfully applied in the rhodium-catalyzed enantioselective hydrogenations of a variety of substrates, in which up to 99.9% ee was obtained for all of these kinds of substrates.

[reaction: see text] A new family of unsymmetrical ferrocenylethylamine-derived monophosphoramidites were synthesized and successfully applied in the Rh-catalyzed enantioselective hydrogenation of a range of enamides and alpha-dehydroamino acid esters, and ee values of up to 99.5% were obtained for both types of substrate. These results suggest that unsymmetrical amine-derived monophosphoramidites can also exhibit excellent enantioselectivity for a broad range of substrates, comparable to or higher than those of the most efficient symmetrical amine-derived monophosphoramidites reported thus far.

The features and composition of Rotational Gamma Knife are mainly introduced in this paper. The open architecture double PLCs and motion controller are used to fit special requirements of the Rotational Gamma Knife and thus to ensure its high reliability. In the end, safety measures which should be taken for patients, doctors and equipments are discussed.
