I study several problems about the symmetric space associated with the Lie group SL(n,R)$SL(n,\mathbb {R})$. These problems are connected to an algorithm based on Poincaré's Fundamental Polyhedron Theorem, designed to determine generalized geometric finiteness properties for subgroups of SL(n,R)$SL(n,\mathbb {R})$. The algorithm is analogous to the original one in hyperbolic spaces, while the Riemannian distance is replaced by an SL(n,R)$SL(n,\mathbb {R})$‐invariant premetric. The main results of this paper are twofold. In the first part, I focus on questions that occurred in generalizing Poincaré's Algorithm to my symmetric space. I describe and implement an algorithm that computes the face‐poset structure of finitely sided polyhedra, and construct an angle‐like function between hyperplanes. In the second part, I study further questions related to hyperplanes and Dirichlet–Selberg domains in my symmetric space. I establish several criteria for the disjointness of hyperplanes and classify particular Abelian subgroups of SL(3,R)$SL(3,\mathbb {R})$ based on whether their Dirichlet–Selberg domains are finitely sided or not. By systematically analyzing the natural gas composition, carbon isotopes, and source rock characteristics in the Yongfeng sub-sag of the Bogda Mountain front belt, natural gas characteristics were determined, and the genetic types and sources of natural gas were investigated. The research results indicate that methane is the main component of natural gas in the Yongfeng sub-sag, with low levels of heavy hydrocarbons and a high drying coefficient. These characteristics make it dry gas, which refers to natural gas with a methane content of over 95%. The ethane carbon isotope δ13C2 of natural gas is −28.5‰ and belongs to oil type gas. The methane carbon isotope δ13C1 of natural gas is −58.6‰~−59.4‰, has a relatively depleted methane carbon isotope value, shows significant differences from the surrounding natural gas methane carbon isotope, and belongs to the category of biogenic gas. The Permian Lucaogou Formation is the main source rock in the study area, with good organic matter abundance. The microscopic components of kerogen are mainly composed of sapropelic formations and the organic matter type is I–II1. The source rock has a high maturity and has reached the mature stage, mainly consisting of oil and wet gas. The ethane carbon isotope of natural gas in the Yongfeng sub-sag shows as oil type gas, which is consistent with the kerogen type of the Lucaogou Formation source rocks, indicating that the natural gas mainly comes from the Lucaogou Formation source rocks. Based on comprehensive data and information on natural gas composition, carbon isotopes, and burial history of the source rocks, it is believed that some of the crude oil generated from the Lucaogou Formation in the early stage underwent biodegradation due to tectonic uplift, resulting in biogenic methane and the formation of crude oil biodegraded gas. Unconventional tight oil and gas resources, including shale oil and gas, have become the main focus for increasing reserves and production. The safe and efficient development of unconventional oil and gas is a crucial demand for the energy development strategy. Deep tight oil and gas resource development generally adopts horizontal well drilling methods. During drilling, especially in long horizontal sections, the high temperature frequently causes failures of downhole drilling tools and rotary steering tools. The temperature rises sharply during rock breaking with the drill bit. Existing wellbore heat transfer models do not fully consider the impact of heat generated by the drill bit on the wellbore temperature field. This paper aims to experimentally study the temperature rise law of the cutting tooth of the bottom polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) bit during rock breaking. A set of evaluation devices was developed to study the temperature field distribution characteristics at the bottom of the PDC bit during rock breaking under different experimental conditions. The results indicate that the flow rate of drilling fluid, bit rotation speed, and weight on bit (WOB) significantly affect the distribution of the temperature field at the well bottom. This experimental research on the temperature field distribution characteristics at the bottom of the PDC bit during rock breaking helps reveal the heat transfer characteristics of the long horizontal section wellbore, guide the optimization of drilling parameters, and develop temperature control methods.
