In order to rationalize the consumption of graphite tailing sand and reduce its pollution of the environment—with sodium silicate being a commonly used activator for improving the strength of concrete composites—in this study, the joint effects of sodium silicate (SS) and graphite tail sand (GT) on the strength and frost resistance of graphite tail sand high-performance mortar (GT-HPM) were investigated. Experiments were conducted to evaluate the bulk density, water absorption, compressive strength, speed of sound, and working performance status of GT-HPM before and after freezing and thawing at different SS dosages and different GT substitution rates. The microstructural properties of GT-HPM were also analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM/EDS). The results showed that 4% SS doping improved the performance of GT-HPM more obviously. Moreover, with an increase in the GT substitution rate, the mechanical properties and frost resistance of GT-HPM increased firstly and then decreased, and the best performance of GT-HPM was obtained when the GT substitution rate was 20%. At 6% SS doping, the performance of GT-HPM gradually decreased with the increase in the graphite tailing sand substitution rate. FT-IR testing showed that there was no significant change with the type of hydration products used, and the Si–O–T absorption peak and average bond length of GT-4 were the largest. SS and GT promoted the generation of hydration products. Microstructural analysis showed that 4% SS promoted the hydration reaction; in addition, an appropriate amount of GT improved the pore structure of HPM, increased the strength and frost resistance, and provided fundamental insights for the subsequent comprehensive utilization of graphite tailing sand. The load-bearing capacity of a building is influenced by the strength of the concrete. However, when faced with complex environments, ordinary concrete is not always adequate. The strength of concrete can be enhanced by incorporating additives into it. At this point, the study of adding basalt fiber (BF) and nano-SiO2 (NS) to concrete is pretty advanced. Still, research on the incorporation of nano-TiC (NT) into concrete is limited. In order to study the effect of NT, BF, and NS on the strength of concrete, in this paper, these materials were incorporated into concrete and NSF concrete was made by semi-dry mixing. And the concrete was analyzed for slump, compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, flexural strength, and modulus of elasticity. The optimization of the mechanical characteristics of concrete was conducted using response surface methodology (RSM), and the microstructure of concrete was used for analysis by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). To develop a thirst function optimization model based on NSF concrete, parallel experiments were used to verify the accuracy of the optimization results. The research findings show that NS, NT, and BF reduced the slump of concrete. Adding NT, NS, and BF in moderate amounts can enhance the mechanical characteristics of the concrete. The material's optimal proportions for mixing were 0.85% for NT, 0.11% for BF, and 1.94% for NS. The optimized concrete has a maximum error of 9.03% in compressive strength, 9.30% in split tensile strength, and 9.82% in flexural strength. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Macroautophagy/autophagy is an evolutionarily conserved process that involves the selective degradation of cytoplasmic components within lysosomes in response to starvation. Autophagy is an ancient defense mechanism that has been closely integrated with the immune system and has multiple effects on innate and adaptive immunity. The pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines can activate and inhibit autophagy, respectively. TNFAIP8L2/TIPE2 (tumor necrosis factor, alpha-induced protein 8-like 2) is a newly identified immune negative regulator of innate and adaptive immunity that plays an important role in immune homeostasis. However, whether and how TNFAIP8L2 controls autophagy is still unknown. Murine TNFAIP8L2 can directly bind to and block the RAC1 GTPase activity to regulate innate immunity. RAC1 can also bind to MTOR and regulate MTORC1 cellular localization and activity. Here, we find that TNFAIP8L2 can compete with MTOR for binding to the GTP-bound state of RAC1 and negatively regulate MTORC1 activity. Interestingly, TNFAIP8L2 overexpression fails to induce autophagy flux by the suppression of the MTOR activity under glutamine and serum starvation. Instead, TNFAIP8L2 appears to impair autophagic lysosome reformation (ALR) during prolonged starvation. Finally, we demonstrate that TNFAIP8L2 overexpression leads to a defect in MTOR reactivation and disrupts autophagy flux, thereby leading to cell death. Furthermore, TNFAIP8L2 deficiency can exacerbate the inflammatory response and lung injury by controlling the MTOR activity in an LPS-induced mouse endotoxemia model. Objective: To investigate the prognostic impact of D2-plus lymphadenectomy including the posterior (No. 8p, No. 12b/p, No. 13, and No. 14v), and para-aortic (No. 16a2, and No. 16b1) lymph nodes (LNs) in subtotal gastrectomy for advanced gastric antral carcinoma., Methods: A total of 203 patients with advanced gastric cancer (GC) located in the antrum, who underwent R0 gastrectomy with D2 or D2-plus lymphadenectomy between January 2003 and December 2011 were enrolled. Propensity score matching was used to reduce the strength of the confounding factors to accurately evaluate prognoses. The therapeutic value index (TVI) was calculate to evaluate the survival benefit of dissecting each LN station., Results: Of 102 patients with D2-plus lymphadenectomy, 21 (20.59%) were pathologically identified as having LN metastases beyond the extent of D2 lymphadenectomy. After matching, the overall survival (OS) was significantly better in the D2-plus than the D2 group (P=0.030). In the multivariate survival analysis, D2-plus lymphadenectomy (hazard ratio, 0.516; P=0.006) was confirmed to significantly improve the survival rate. In the logistic regression analysis, pN stage [odds ratio (OR), 2.533; 95% confidence interval (95% CI), 1.368-4.691; P=0.003] and extent of LNs metastasis (OR, 5.965; 95% CI, 1.335-26.650; P=0.019) were identified as independent risk factors for LN metastases beyond the extent of D2 lymphadenectomy. The TVI of patient with metastasis to LNs station was 7.1 (No. 8p), 5.7 (No. 12p), 5.1 (No. 13), and 7.1 (both No. 16a2 and No. 16b1), respectively., Conclusions: D2-plus lymphadenectomy may improve the prognoses of some patients with advanced GC located in the antrum, especially for No. 8p, No. 12b, No. 13, and No. 16., (Copyright © 2020 Chinese Journal of Cancer Research.
