MicroMagnetic.jl is an open-source Julia package for micromagnetic and atomistic simulations. Using the features of the Julia programming language, MicroMagnetic.jl supports CPU and various GPU platforms, including NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, and Apple GPUs. Moreover, MicroMagnetic.jl supports Monte Carlo simulations for atomistic models and implements the Nudged-Elastic-Band method for energy barrier computations. With built-in support for double and single precision modes and a design allowing easy extensibility to add new features, MicroMagnetic.jl provides a versatile toolset for researchers in micromagnetics and atomistic simulations.

Domain wall bimerons (DWBMs) are nanoscale spin textures residing within the magnetic domain walls of in-plane magnets. In this study, we employ both numerical and analytical methods to explore the stabilization of N\'eel-type domain wall bimerons and their dynamics when excited by spin-orbit torque. Our findings reveal two unique and intriguing dynamic mechanisms, which depend on the polarization direction of the spin current: In the first scenario, the magnetic domain wall serves as a track that confines the motion of the bimeron and effectively suppresses the skyrmion Hall effect. In the second scenario, pushing the magnetic domain wall triggers a rapid sliding of the bimeron along the wall. This process significantly enhances the dynamics of the bimeron, resulting in a velocity increase of approximately 40 times compared to skyrmions and bimeron solitons. The exploration of van der Waals (vdWs) magnetic materials has sparked great interest in spintronics. However, conventional methods often face challenges in characterizing the magnetic properties of small-sized vdWs materials, especially for antiferromagnets with extremely small magnetic moments. Here, we demonstrate the efficacy of dynamic cantilever magnetometry (DCM) in characterizing the magnetic properties of vdWs magnets, using an antiferromagnetic semiconductor CrPS4. We observe continuous spin axis rotation under a magnetic field, accurately modelled by considering the existance of marked magnetic anisotropies. Furthermore, the dominance of out-of-plane magnetic anisotropy in spin reorientation behavior at low temperatures transitions to the prevalence of in-plane anisotropy with increasing temperature, leading to a sign reversal of the frequency shift in measurements. The peculiar magnetic phase transitions make CrPS4 an intriguing platform for studying two-dimensional magnetism. Our findings underscore the effectiveness of DCM in characterizing magnetic anisotropies and phase transitions in vdWs magnets.

We report three-dimensional topological spin configurations including a novel form of skyrmion-antiskyrmion coupling in D2d chiral magnets. The skyrmion-antiskyrmion coupled string, consisting of skyrmions located in the near-surface layers and antiskyrmions in the interior of the nanostructured sample that are sewn together by emergent Bloch points, is a hybrid three-dimensional soliton solution resulting from the application of micromagnetic equations. We further provide experimental evidence of these 3D topological skyrmionic strings in a FeNiPdP chiral magnet with S4 symmetry. Magnetically ordered materials reveal various types of magnetic moment alignment that affects their functional properties. This makes the exploration of unconventional magnetic orderings promising for the discovery of new physical phenomena and spintronic applications. Here, we introduce cross-chain antiferromagnets, dubbed X-type antiferromagnets, as an uncharted class of magnetically ordered crystals, where the stacking of two magnetic sublattices form an orthogonal pattern of intersecting atomic chains. These largely unexplored X-type antiferromagnets reveal unique spin-dependent transport properties that are not present in conventional magnets. Using $\beta$-Fe2PO5 as a representative example of such X-type antiferromagnets, we predict the emergence of sublattice-selective spin-polarized transport, where one magnetic sublattice is conducting, while the other is not. As a result, spin torque can be exerted solely on a single sublattice, leading to unconventional ultrafast dynamics of the N\`eel vector capable of deterministic switching of the antiferromagnetic domains. Our work uncovers a previously overlooked type of magnetic moment alignment in antiferromagnets and reveals sublattice-selective physical properties promising for high-performance spintronic applications.

The interplay between dimensionality and topology manifests in magnetism via both exotic texture morphology and novel dynamics. A free magnetic skyrmion exhibits the skyrmion Hall effect under electric currents. Once it is confined in one-dimensional (1D) channels, the skyrmion Hall effect would be suppressed, and the current-driven skyrmion speed should be boosted by the non-adiabatic spin transfer torque \b{eta}. Here, we experimentally demonstrate that stripes of a spatially modulated spin helix serve as natural 1D channels to restrict skyrmion. Using FeGe as a benchmark, an interstitial skyrmion is created by geometry notch and further moves steadily without the skyrmion Hall effect. The slope of the current-velocity curve for 1D skyrmion is enhanced almost by an order of magnitude owing to a large \b{eta} in FeGe. This feature is also observed in other topological defects. Utilizing the 1D skyrmion dynamics would be a highly promising route to implement topological spintronic devices.

Magnetic skyrmions are localized particle-like nontrivial swirls that are promising in building high-performance topological spintronic devices. The read-out functions in skyrmionic devices require the translation of magnetic skyrmions to electrical signals. Here, we report combined real-space magnetic imaging and anisotropic magnetoresistance studies on dipolar skyrmions. A single skyrmion chain and single skyrmion are observed using Lorentz transmission electron microscopy imaging. Meanwhile, the field, helicity, and skyrmion count dependence of anisotropic magnetoresistance of the Fe3Sn2 nanostructures are obtained simultaneously. Our results demonstrate that the anisotropic magnetoresistance of skyrmions is independent of the helicity and proportional to the skyrmion count. Our work could promote read-out operations in skyrmion-based spintronic devices.

Three-dimensional (3D) magnetic reconstruction is vital to the study of novel magnetic materials for 3D spintronics. Vector field electron tomography (VFET) is a major in house tool to achieve that. However, conventional VFET reconstruction exhibits significant artefacts due to the unavoidable presence of missing wedges. In this article, we propose a deep-learning enhanced VFET method to address this issue. A magnetic textures library is built by micromagnetic simulations. MagNet, an U-shaped convolutional neural network, is trained and tested with dataset generated from the library. We demonstrate that MagNet outperforms conventional VFET under missing wedge. Quality of reconstructed magnetic induction fields is significantly improved.

Interdisciplinary research increasingly fuels innovation, and is considered to be a key to tomorrow breakthrough. Yet little is known about whether interdisciplinary research manifests delayed impact. Here, we use the time to reach the citation peak to quantify the highest impact time and citation dynamics, and examine its relationship with interdisciplinarity. Using large scale publication datasets, our results suggest that interdisciplinary papers show significant delayed impact both microscopically per paper and macroscopically collectively, as it takes longer time for interdisciplinary papers to reach their citation peak. Furthermore, we study the underlying forces of such delayed impact, finding that the effect goes beyond the Matthew effect (i.e., the rich-get-richer effect). Finally, we find that team size and content conventionality only partly account for this effect. Overall, our results suggest that governments, research administrators, funding agencies should be aware of this general feature of interdisciplinary science, which may have broad policy implications., Comment: 21 pages, 4 figures

Topological magnetic charge Q is a fundamental parameter that describes the magnetic domains and determines their intriguing electromagnetic properties. The ability to switch Q in a controlled way by electrical methods allows for flexible manipulation of electromagnetic behavior in future spintronic devices. Here we report the room-temperature current-controlled topological magnetic transformations between Q = -1 skyrmions and Q = 0 stripes or type-II bubbles in a kagome crystal Fe$_3$Sn$_2$. We show that the reproducible and reversible skyrmion-bubble and skyrmion-stripe transformations can be achieved by tuning the density of nanosecond pulsed current of the order of ~10$^{10}$ A$^{-2}$. Further numerical simulations suggest that spin-transfer torque combined with Joule thermal heating effects determine the current-induced topological magnetic transformations.

We report differential phase contrast scanning transmission electron microscopy (TEM) of nanoscale magnetic objects in Kagome ferromagnet Fe$_3$Sn$_2$ nanostructures. This technique can directly detect the deflection angle of a focused electron beam, thus allowing clear identification of the real magnetic structures of two magnetic objects including three-ring and complex arch-shaped vortices in Fe$_3$Sn$_2$ by Lorentz transmission electron microscopy imaging. Numerical calculations based on real material-specific parameters well reproduced the experimental results, showing that the magnetic objects can be attributed to integral magnetizations of two types of complex three-dimensional (3D) magnetic skyrmion bubbles with depth-modulated spin twisting. Magnetic configurations obtained using the high-resolution TEM are generally considered as two-dimensional (2D) magnetic objects previously. Our results imply the importance of the integral magnetizations of underestimated 3D magnetic structures in 2D TEM magnetic characterizations.

We have explored the skyrmion phases and phase diagram of poly and single-crystal MnSi by the measurements of the magnetoelectric coefficient alfaE and ac magnetic susceptibility of the MnSi/PMN-PT composite. We found that the regular skyrmion lattice phase in single crystal sample has been averaged in the MnSi polycrystal due to random grain orientations which results in an extended skyrmion lattice-conical mixture phase down to 25 K. The magnitude of the out-of-phase component in alfaE of the polycrystal, not single crystal, decreases gradually with decreasing frequency. With the changing of the driven ac field, it reveals a depinning threshold behavior in both samples. The depinning field is stronger in the polycrystal than that in single crystal and maybe responsible for the diminishing of dissipative behavior at lower frequency due to grain boundaries and defects. Magnetic skyrmions are nanoscale spin whirlpools that promise breakthroughs in future spintronic applications. Controlled generation of magnetic skyrmions by electric current is crucial for this purpose. While previous studies have demonstrated this operation, the topological charge of the generated skyrmions is determined by the direction of the external magnetic fields, thus is fixed. Here, we report the current-induced skyrmions creation in a chiral magnet FeGe nanostructure by using the \emph{in-situ} Lorentz transmission electron microscopy. We show that magnetic skyrmions or antiskyrmions can be both transferred from the magnetic helical ground state simply by controlling the direction of the current flow at zero magnetic field. The force analysis and symmetry consideration, backed up by micromagnetic simulations, well explain the experimental results, where magnetic skyrmions or antiskyrmions are created due to the edge instability of the helical state in the presence of spin transfer torque. The on-demand generation of skyrmions and control of their topology by electric current without the need of magnetic field will enable novel purely electric-controlled skyrmion devices., Comment: 5 pages and 4 figures

Flexible magnetic materials with robust and controllable perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) are highly desirable for developing flexible high-performance spintronic devices. However, it is still challenge to fabricate PMA films through current techniques of direct deposition on polymers. Here, we report a facile method for synthesizing single-crystal freestanding SrRuO3 (SRO) membranes with controlled crystal structure and orientation using water-soluble Ca3-xSrxAl2O6 sacrificial layers. Through cooperative effect of crystal structure and orientation engineering, flexible SrRuO3 membranes reveal highly tunable magnetic anisotropy from in-plane to our-of-plane with a remarkable PMA energy of 7.34*106 erg/cm3. Based on the first-principles calculations, it reveals that the underlying mechanism of PMA modulation is intimately correlated with structure-controlled Ru 4d-orbital occupation, as well as the spin-orbital matrix element differences, dependent on the crystal orientation. In addition, there are no obvious changes of the magnetism after 10,000 bending cycles, indicating an excellent magnetism reliability in the prepared films. This work provides a feasible approach to prepare the flexible oxide films with strong and controllable PMA.

Writing, erasing and computing are three fundamental operations required by any working electronic devices. Magnetic skyrmions could be basic bits in promising in emerging topological spintronic devices. In particular, skyrmions in chiral magnets have outstanding properties like compact texture, uniform size and high mobility. However, creating, deleting and driving isolated skyrmions, as prototypes of aforementioned basic operations, have been grand challenge in chiral magnets ever since the discovery of skyrmions, and achieving all these three operations in a single device is highly desirable. Here, by engineering chiral magnet Co$_8$Zn$_{10}$Mn$_2$ into the customized micro-devices for in-situ Lorentz transmission electron microscopy observations, we implement these three operations of skyrmions using nanosecond current pulses with a low a current density about $10^{10}$ A/m$^2$ at room temperature. A notched structure can create or delete magnetic skyrmions depending on the direction and magnitude of current pulses. We further show that the magnetic skyrmions can be deterministically shifted step-by-step by current pulses, allowing the establishment of the universal current-velocity relationship. Quantization of topological charges determines the various topological spin textures that are expected to play a key role in future spintronic devices. While the magnetic skyrmion with a unit topological charge Q has been extensively studied, spin textures with other integer valued have not been verified well so far. Here, we report the real-space image, creation, and manipulation of a type of multi Q three-dimensional skyrmionic texture, where a circular spin spiral ties a bunch of skyrmion tubes. We define these objects as skyrmion bundles, and show they have arbitrarily integer values Q from negative up to at least 55 in our experiment. These textures behave as quasiparticles in dynamics for the collective motions driven by electric pulses. Similar to the skyrmion, skyrmion bundles with non zero Q exhibit the skyrmion Hall effects with a Hall angle of 62 degree. Of particular interest, the skyrmion bundle with Q = 0 propagates collinearly with respect to the current flow without the skyrmion Hall effect. Our results open a new perspective for possible applications of multi Q magnetic objects in future spintronic devices.

Filamentary textures can take the form of braided, rope-like superstructures in nonlinear media such as plasmas and superfluids. The formation of similar superstructures in solids has been predicted, for example from flux lines in superconductors. However, their observation has proved challenging. Here, we use electron microscopy and numerical methods to reveal braided superstructures of magnetic skyrmions in thin crystals of B20-type FeGe. A chiral bobber is a localized three-dimensional magnetization configuration, terminated by a singularity. Chiral bobbers coexist with magnetic skyrmions in chiral magnets, lending themselves to new types of skyrmion-complementary bits of information. However, the on-demand creation of bobbers, as well as their direct observation remained elusive. Here, we introduce a new mechanism for creating a stable chiral bobber lattice state via the proximity of two skyrmion species with comparable size. This effect is experimentally demonstrated in a Cu$_2$OSeO$_3$/[Ta/CoFeB/MgO]$_4$ heterostructure in which an exotic bobber lattice state emerges in the phase diagram of Cu$_2$OSeO$_3$. To unambiguously reveal the existence of the chiral bobber lattice state, we have developed a novel characterization technique, magnetic truncation rod analysis, which is based on resonant elastic x-ray scattering.

Models of the consensus of the individual state in social systems have been the subject of recent researches in the physics literature. We investigate how network structures coevolve with the individual state under the framework of social identity theory. And we propose an adaptive network model to achieve state consensus or local structural adjustment of individuals by evaluating the homogeneity among them. Specifically, the similarity threshold significantly affects the evolution of the network with different initial conditions, and thus there emerges obvious community structure and polarization. The Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI), which only exists in noncentrosymmetric systems, is responsible for the formation of exotic chiral magnetic states. The absence of DMI in most two-dimensional (2D) magnetic materials is due to their intrinsic inversion symmetry. Here, using first-principles calculations, we demonstrate that significant DMI can be obtained in a series of Janus monolayers of manganese dichalcogenides MnXY in which the difference between X and Y on the opposites sides of Mn breaks the inversion symmetry. In particular, the DMI amplitudes of MnSeTe and MnSTe are comparable to those of state-of-the-art ferromagnet/heavy metal (FM/HM) heterostructures. In addition, by performing Monte Carlo simulations, we find that at low temperatures the ground states of the MnSeTe and MnSTe monolayers can transform from ferromagnetic states with worm-like magnetic domains into the skyrmion states by applying external magnetic field. At increasing temperature, the skyrmion states starts fluctuating above 50 K before an evolution to a completely disordered structure at higher temperature. We have developed a sensitive technique to probe the magnetic skyrmion phases and dynamics by employing the interfacial coupling effect in a magnetoelectric composite configuration. The study on a MnSi single crystal sample using this technique provides clear evidences for the skyrmion lattice phase and coexistence of skyrmion and conical phase. Above the Curie temperature TC, a region with strong spin fluctuation is revealed as well. By tuning the density of Skyrmion or disorder, a transition from the skyrmion lattice to skyrmion-conical coexisting phase is observed. The observation is in good agreement with a theoretical model which predicts the dissipation behavior in the coexistence phase., Comment: 18 pages, 5 figures

Searching for exotic transport properties in new topological state of matters is an active topic. One of the most fascinating achievements is the chiral anomaly in recently discovered Weyl semimetals (WSMs), which is manifested as a negative longitudinal magnetoresistance (LMR) in the presence of a magnetic field B parallel to an electric field E. Another predicted key effect closely related to the chiral anomaly is the planar Hall effect (PHE), which has not been identified in WSMs so far. Here we carried out the planar Hall measurements on Cd3As2 nanoplates, and found that, accompanied by the large negative LMR, a PHE with non-zero transverse voltage can be developed while tilting the in-plane magnetic field B away from the electric field E. Further experiments reveal that both the PHE and the negative LMR can be suppressed synchronously by increasing the temperature, but still visible at room temperature, indicating the same origin of these two effects. The observation of PHE in Cd3As2 nanoplates gives another transport evidence for the chiral anomaly and provides a deep insight into the chiral charge pumping in Weyl Fermions system., Comment: 17 pages, 4 figures
