Young people experiencing homelessness and who use drugs are vulnerable to being attributed with ‘spoiled identities’ due to stigmatising attitudes by wider society. This article is underpinned by a symbolic interactionist account of self-identity and stigma. It draws upon ethnographic research in a UK-based supported accommodation hostel for young people and explores how the residents in the hostel related to the labels of ‘homeless,’ ‘drug user’ and ‘youth’ and how these were expressed through their self-identities. Over a period of seven months, in-depth participant-observation, semi-structured interviews and a focus group were conducted involving 22 hostel residents, aged 16 to 21 years old. The data highlight how the residents engaged in processes of ‘distancing’ or ‘othering’ by making disparaging remarks about other people in similar situations based on stereotyping. These processes reinforced spoiled identities while enabling the residents to disassociate from them. However, residents also appeared to embrace and celebrate certain features of each label, indicating an acceptance of these more positive features as forming a part of their self-identities. The article concludes by arguing for a nuanced approach to understanding stigma and identity among homeless people, one that accounts for more than just a person’s housing situation.

Im Zeitraum zwischen 2017 und 2021 ist ein Anstieg der DrogenlenkerInnen um 15 % pro Jahr auf Österreichs Straßen zu verzeichnen (Kuratorium für Verkehrssicherheit, 2021). Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist, verkehrsrelevante Persönlichkeitsunterschiede zwischen drogenauffälligen LenkerInnen und einer Normstichprobe zu untersuchen. Zusätzlich wird der Zusammenhang zwischen unterschiedlicher Drogenmustern wie Konsumhäufigkeit, Drogenart, Konsummotiv und verkehrsrelevanten Persönlichkeitsmerkmalen analysiert. Die Stichprobe besteht auf drogenauffälligen FahrerInnen, die sich in den Jahren 2020 und 2021 eine verkehrspsychologische Untersuchung unterzogen haben. Der Datensatz setzt sich aus den Messungen des Inventars verkehrsrelevanter Persönlichkeitseigenschaften (IVPE) und aus impliziten Informationen über Drogenkonsummuster zusammen. Aus dem Datensatz ausgeschlossen wurden 224 ProbandInnen, die einen auffälligen Wert in der sozialen Erwünschtheits Skala Offenheit im IVPE aufwiesen. Розглянуто соціокультурні чинники споживання лікарських засобів які стосуються пацієнта та медпрацівника. Проаналізовано релевантний науковий дискурс і досвід емпіричних досліджень, здійснених, зокрема, із використання інструментарію дослідження цінностей Р. Інглегарт, Г. Хофстеде, Ш. Шварц, Г. Айзенка й ін. На підставі вторинного аналізу баз даних дослідження «Eurobarometer» розкрито особливості споживання лікарських засобів насленням країн ЄС та України. З‟ясовано, що існують значимі кореляції поміж соціально-економічними, інституційними й соціокультурними показниками, що характеризують якість життя в досліджених суспільствах і практиками (не)належного споживання лікарських засобів. Виявлені результати вказують на соціальну (соціокультурну, інституційну та економічну) укоріненість практик споживання лікарських засобів. Доведено, що найбільш адекватною теоретико-методологічною «рамкою» для пояснення виявлених результатів є неоінституціоналізм, який звертає увагу дослідників на соціальні передумови успішності управлінських інновацій. У процесі реформування сектору охорони здоров‟я та інституту фармації, зокрема в сучасному українському суспільстві, зростає актуальність такого дослідження потенціалу заходів із реформування й труднощів на їхньому шляху. Socio-cultural factors of consumption of medicines concerning the patient and the medical staff are considered. Author analyzes the relevant scientific discourse and the experience of empirical research carried out, in particular, with the use of tools for social values study, proposed by of R. Inglegart, G. Hofstede, S. Schwartz, G. Eisenck, and others. On the basis of the secondary analysis of databases of the Eurobarometer survey, the peculiarities of drug consumption in the EU and Ukraine are analyzed. It is found that there are significant correlations between socio-economic, institutional and socio-cultural indicators that characterize the quality of life in EU societies as well as in Ukrainian and practices of the drugs consumption. The revealed results point to the social (socio-cultural, institutional and economic) embeddedness of drug use practices. It turns out that the most adequate theoretical and methodological «framework» to explain these findings is neo-institutionalism, which draws the attention of researchers to the social preconditions for the success of managerial innovations. In the process of reforming the health sector, and the pharmaceutical institute in particular, in today's Ukrainian society, the relevance of such a study is increasing the potential of government reform programs.

Diese Bachelorarbeit befasst sich primär mit dem Ziel herauszufinden, wie sich die aktuelle Corona-Krise auf das Sucht- bzw. Konsumverhalten der Menschen auswirkt. Sekundär wird auch näher untersucht, wie die soziale Arbeit, insbesondere die Drogenberatung, eine Rolle spielt und vor allem wie sie unterstützend mitwirken kann. Die Informationen zu dem, zugegebenermaßen recht neuem bzw. aktuellem Thema, wurden aus einer Umfrage mit 64 Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmern und einem Interview mit einem Mitarbeiter der Drogenberatungsstelle Graz entnommen. Für den Theorieteil wurde verschiedene Fachliteratur für relevante Themen herangezogen. In dieser Arbeit kommt klar zum Vorschein, dass das Konsumverhalten, bei bestimmten Drogen, ganz klar gestiegen ist und welche Motivationsgründe, gerade in der aktuellen Krise, dominierend sind. Eine weitere wichtige Erkenntnis ist, dass die Drogenberatung Graz für Süchtige bzw. stark konsumierende Personen auch während der Krise maßgebliche Unterstützung anbieten kann und so auch den Klientinnen und Klienten zum geplanten Ziel verhelfen kann. This bachelor thesis is primarily concerned with finding out how the current Corona crisis affects people's addiction or consumption behaviour. Secondarily, it also examines in more detail how social work, especially drug counselling, plays a role and, above all, how it can play a supporting role. The information on this topic, which is admittedly quite new and current, was taken from a survey with 64 participants and an interview with a staff member of the drug counselling centre in Graz. For the theoretical part, various specialised literature on relevant topics were consulted. This paper clearly shows that the consumption behaviour of certain drugs has clearly increased and which motivational reasons are dominant, especially in the current crisis. Another important finding is that drug counselling in Graz can offer significant support to addicts and heavy users also during the crisis and thus help the clients to reach their planned goals. Der experimentelle Drogenkonsum gehört zum Jugendalter dazu. Heranwachsende in der Adoleszenz weisen verschiedene Gründe für einen Substanzgebrauch auf. Diese Verhaltensweise wird unter anderem stark durch ein suchtbelastetes Familienumfeld beeinflusst. Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die Strukturen und Muster einer suchtbelasteten Familie und deren Umfeld abzubilden und die Frage nach einem möglichen Zusammenhang dieser und der eines Drogenkonsums der darin lebenden Jugendlichen zu beantworten. Dazu wird der Konsum und die Suchtentstehung im Jugendalter dargestellt, die Relevanz von Risiko- und Schutzfaktoren in Bezug auf Bewältigungsstrategien aufgezeigt und die Implikationen für die Soziale Arbeit verdeutlicht sowie die Strukturen und Muster eines suchtbelasteten Familienumfeldes erläutert. Es zeigt sich, dass auftretende Risikofaktoren in einer suchtbelasteten Familie sich bei zwei Drittel der Jugendlichen negativ auf den psychischen Zustand auswirken und somit das Risiko des Drogenkonsums als erlernte Bewältigungsstrategie und Verhaltensweise verstärken. Bei einem Drittel der Jugendlichen tritt jedoch keine dieser Auswirkungen auf, was auf die vorhandene Resilienz zurückgeführt werden kann. Somit zeigt sich, dass sich die Stärkung von Schutzfaktoren und daher die Förderung von Resilienz als eine bedeutsame Rolle in der Bewältigung von ausgesetzten Risikofaktoren spielen. Experimental drug use is part of adolescence. Adolescents exhibit various reasons for substance use. Among other factors, this behavior is strongly influenced by an addiction-ridden family environment. The aim of this paper is to map the structures and patterns of an addicted family and its environment. Furthermore, the paper want to answer the question of a possible connection between these and the substance use of the adolescents living in them. Drug consumption and the development of addiction in adolescence are presented, the relevance of risk and protective factors in relation to coping strategies is shown, and the structures and patterns of an addiction-ridden family environment are explained. The relevant literature suggests that occurring risk factors in an addicted family have a negative effect on the mental state of two thirds of the adolescents and thus increase the risk of drug abuse as a learned coping strategy. However, none of these effects occur in one-third of adolescents, which can be attributed to their resilience. Thus, strengthening protective factors and therefore promoting resilience is shown to play a significant role in coping with risk factors.

Cannabis ist die am häufigsten konsumierte Droge, wobei sich besonders hohe Prävalenzzahlen bei Jugendlichen und jungen Erwachsenen finden. Studien belegen das schädliche Potenzial des psychoaktiven Anteils der Substanz. In dieser Arbeit wird vorrangig von Cannabis Sativa gesprochen, welches den psychoaktiven Wirkstoff Δ-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol, kurz THC, beinhaltet. Besonders ein intensiver, chronischer Konsum ist mit gesundheitlichen Risiken assoziiert. Diese Risiken und Folgen können in den verschiedensten Lebensbereichen eintreten. Studien belegen das KonsumentInnen Auffälligkeiten hinsichtlich der kognitiven Leistungsfähigkeit und die damit verbundene Hirnleistung aufweisen. Weitere Studien haben gezeigt, welches Ausmaß Folgeschäden auf den Körper und die Psyche haben kann. Hierzu zählen organische Folgen, psychosoziale Folgen, affektive Störungen, Angststörungen und Suizidalität, psychotische Störungen und Schizophrenie sowie substanzbedingte Abhängigkeit. Die hier aufgezählten Risiken des Cannabiskonsums können künftig für gezielte Präventionsmaßnahmen und zur Früherkennung genutzt werden. Es wird auch untersucht welchen spezifischen Einfluss die Konsumhäufigkeit, die Konsumdauer und das Einstiegsalter auf die körperlichen und psychischen Funktionen hat. Um die Konsummuster deutlicher darzustellen, wird zwischen einem „weichen“ und „harten“ Konsum unterschieden. Es wird auch auf einzelne Cannabinoide eingegangen und dessen Wirkung erläutert. Cannabis is the most commonly used drug, with particularly high prevalence rates among adolescents and young adults. Studies prove the harmful potential of the substance. In this paper, we will primarily speak of cannabis, which contains the psychoactive substance Δ-9-tetrahydrocannabinol. Intensive, chronic use in particular is associated with health risks. These risks and consequences can occur in the most diverse areas of life. Studies have shown that users show abnormalities in cognitive performance and the associated brain perfor-mance. Further studies have shown the extent to which consequential damage can have on the body and the psyche. These include organic consequences, psychosocial consequences, affective disorders, anxiety disorders and suicidality, psychotic disorders and schizophrenia as well as substance-related dependence. The risks of cannabis use listed here can be used in future for targeted prevention and early detection. The specific influence of the frequency of use, the duration of use and the age of initiation on physical and mental functions will also be investigated. In order to illustrate the patterns of use more clearly, a distinction is made between "soft" and "hard" use. Die Meldeinzidenz übermittelter HCV-Infektionen im Jahr 2019 hat sich seit 2018 stabilisiert. Die Unterschiede zwischen den Inzidenzen in den Bundesländern haben sich im Vergleich zum Vorjahr leicht verschoben. Wie auch in den Vorjahren lag die Inzidenz gemeldeter HCV-Infektionen bei Männern deutlich höher als bei Frauen. Wie im Epidemiologischen Bulletin 30/31 2020 erläutert wird, erklärt die Tatsache, dass Männer häufiger Drogen konsumieren als Frauen und dies der am häufigsten berichtete Übertragungsweg ist, unter anderem die höhere Inzidenz von Hepatitis C bei Männern.

Several municipalities in Norway have tried the Housing First model to facilitate permanent housing for homeless people with substance abuse problems and/or mental illness. This article discusses users’ experiences from receiving social support as part of the Housing First programme. In particular, the article discusses the users’ experiences with the model’s emphasis on users’ choice and self-determination. The analysis shows that what the programs practise is not entirely freedom of choice for the participants but a greater respect of the users’ knowledge, perspectives, and opinions as a starting point for interventions. The analysis shows that participants and staff engage in joint reflection work to help the participants take more reflected decisions in their life. The article discusses how this method can contribute to overcome a diagnostic approach to marginalised and often stigmatised users and provide more personalised and effective services. The discussions draw on data from an evaluation of two trial projects of the Housing First model. The article is mainly based on an analysis of 16 qualitative interviews with users that participated in the projects.
