In order to describe the behavior and the performance of the photovoltaic modules we can found in the literature different equivalent circuit models such us: single diode model (SDM), double diode model (DDM), three diode model (TDM). Almost of the authors obtained that the SDM is the best solution to describe the electrical characterization of the PV modules. The PV parameters can be extracted by three common approaches: Analytical based on the derivation of mathematical equations, Numeric or iterative usually use non-linear optimization techniques, among all the technique the Newton Raphson is widely used. The last one is meta-heuristic approach characterized by their global search point and their soft computing algorithms. The aim of this study is to explore and discuss the behavior of the single-diode model, which require five parameters are estimated using Particle Swarm Optimization approach. The performance of this method is evaluated using the experimental values of R.T.C France PV cell at irradiation G = 1000 W/m2 and at temperature T = 33 °C. The obtained results are also compared with results of the others computing approach. After this study, we can conclude that the proposed PSO method has the best performance because the RMSE obtained using this approach is around the 1.73.10−4 A and low than those obtained through all compared algorithms.

Modeling photovoltaic (PV) modules is fundamental for analyzing their efficiency and performance under different operating conditions. Generally, photovoltaic module modeling is based on a suitable equivalent circuit and a set of parameters representing the PV module's properties. Defining these parameters is not a trivial task, as they are usually not included in the technical documentation of the module. Therefore, the need to find suitable values for the model parameters becomes imperative. In this paper, we will test and compare two methods of extracting single-diode model (SDM) parameters: analytical and numerical, under standard test conditions (STC conditions). We examined the performance of six techniques: three analytical and three numerical. Except for Saleem technique, which tends to underestimate the I-V and P-V curves in the MPP zone, the results demonstrated that both approaches (analytical and iterative/numerical) are valid and accurate for predicting the I-V and P-V curves under STC conditions.

Extracting the optimum parameters of the solar photovoltaic (PV) model based on measured current–voltage data accurately, reliably, and quickly is a vital step to simulating, evaluating, and optimizing the model PV. Although several meta-heuristics have been proposed to extract photovoltaic parameters using experimental data, it suffers from slow convergence and poor efficiency which leads to poor solution quality. In this paper, a multiple learning JAYA (MLJAYA) approach has been proposed to extract the PV parameters under different operating conditions. The main advantage of multiple learning strategies introduced in the MLJAYA proposed is its ability to balance exploration and exploitation capabilities. The chaos perturbation mechanism is employed to improve the quality of the population to escape the local optimum and improve the accuracy of the basic JAYA algorithm. The structure of MLJAYA is very simple and requires only the size of the population and stop criterion. The efficacy of the proposed MLJAYA has been verified by including different PV modules models such as single diode, double diode, and PV module, and the results obtained was compared with different variants of JAYA and other state-of-the-art optimization algorithms. The best results of root mean square error (RMSE), and absolute error generated by MLJAYA are (RMSE = 9.8602E−04, SIAE = 1.781248E−02), and (RMSE = 9.8248E−04, SIAE = 1.76E−02) for RTC solar cell single diode and double diode respectively, and (RMSE = 2.4250748E−03, SIAE = 4.686375E−02) for Photowatt-PWP201. The results show the superior performance in terms of accuracy and reliability. Since, the MLJAYA show is a potential approach for extracting parameters from photovoltaic models.

The inhibition effect of quince pulp extract (QPE) on the adsorption and corrosion of carbon steel in 1M HCl solution was investigated using the weight loss method, potentiodynamic polarization and impedance spectroscopy measurements. At first, the quince extract was characterized, its polyphenolic content was qualitatively and quantitatively determined and its anti-oxidant activity was assessed. The HPLC–DAD–MS showed that the quince extract contained a high quantity of polyphenols with the main compounds being neochlorogenic acid, rutin and chlorogenic acid (7.68, 9.05 and 18.57 mg/g fw, respectively), which represent together about 84 % of total phenolics. The extract exhibited a strong antioxidant potential as it inhibited 87 % of the DPPH· anionic radical. The polarization measurements indicate that the extract acts as a mixed inhibitor. The values of inhibition efficiency increase with inhibitor concentration reaching a maximum value (88 %) at 5 × 10−1 g/L. The presence of QPE enhances the values of R t and reduces the C dl values. The adsorption of QPE under consideration on a steel/acidic solution interface at all temperatures follows the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The QPE inhibitor efficiency was temperature-independent.

The corrosion inhibition of 2-(benzylthio)-1,4,5-triphenyl-1H-imidazole (BTI) for carbon steel in a 1 M HCl solution was studied by means of weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) methods. Quantum chemical calculations based on the DFT method were performed on BTI. Molecular dynamics simulations were carried out to establish the mechanism of corrosion inhibition for carbon steel with BTI in HCl. Kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of activation using a statistical model were calculated. Polarization curves revealed that BTI is a mixed-type inhibitor. The results showed that BTI is a good inhibitor for the corrosion of carbon steel in 1.0 M HCl solution and that its inhibition efficiency is higher than 88% at 1 × 10–3 M BTI. In this work, the effect of potassium ferrocyanide (Pf) on the corrosion of mild steel in solutions of phosphoric acid (H3PO4) has been investigated in relation to the concentration of the inhibitor by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization and AC impedance (EIS) measurements. The results obtained revealed that this compound is good a mixed-type inhibitor. The effect of temperature on the corrosion behavior with the addition of optimal concentration of Pf was studied in the temperature range 298–328 K. The value of inhibition efficiency decreases slightly with the increase in temperature. Changes in impedance parameters (charge transfer resistance, R t, and double layer capacitance, C dl) were indicative of adsorption of Pf on the metal surface, leading to the formation of a protective film. Adsorption of Pf on the C38 steel surface was found to obey the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Some thermodynamic functions of dissolution and adsorption processes were also determined.

Experiments were performed by concentration of the inhibitor and temperature effect. The results showed variation in inhibition performance of this plant extract. The Langmuir model was tested to describe the adsorption behavior of the inhibitor on the C38 steel surface. Some thermodynamic functions of dissolution processes were also determined.

The inhibitive action of verbena essential oil (VEO) on the corrosion of mild Steel in 1 M HCl solutions in the temperature range 298 to 328 K was measured by use of the weight-loss method, potentiodynamic polarization, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Results showed that VEO inhibited corrosion of C38 steel in 1 M HCl solution and that inhibition efficiency increased with increasing concentration of inhibitor but decreased proportionally with temperature. Potentiodynamic polarization studies suggested VEO is a mixed-type inhibitor, with the anodic type predominating. Nyquist plots were depressed semicircles with their centre below the real axis. Adsorption of VEO by the C38 steel surface followed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Kinetic data for dissolution were investigated.

Background The carob seed oil (CO) was tested as inhibitor of the corrosion of C38 steel in 1 M HCl by weight loss and electrochemical measurements. The extract was found to inhibit the corrosion of C38 steel in 1 M HCl. Results The results of the study reveal that the inhibition efficiency of CO depends on its concentration and attains approximately 86.7% at 0.5 g/L. Polarization curves reveal that CO is a mixed-type inhibitor. Changes in impedance parameters (charge transfer resistance, R t, and double-layer capacitance, C dl) were indicative of CO adsorption on the metal surface, leading to the formation of a protective film. The effect of temperature on the corrosion behavior with the addition of 0.5 g/L of carob seed oil was studied in the temperature range of 298 to 328 K. Conclusions Results show that the inhibition efficiency of the plant extract increases with increasing temperature, and the adsorption of the latter on the C38 steel surface is found to obey the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Some thermodynamic functions of dissolution processes were also determined.
