Pamiparib is a poly ADP-ribose polymerase (PARP) inhibitor used in clinical studies, which can penetrate the blood-brain barrier efficiently. At present, there are few studies on its effect on vertebrate neurodevelopment. In this study, we exposed zebrafish embryos to 1, 2 and 3 µM of Pamiparib from 6 to 72 h post-fertilisation (hpf). Results showed that pamiparib can specifically induce cerebral haemorrhage, brain atrophy and movement disorders in fish larvae. In addition, pamiparib exposure leads to downregulation of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and adenosine triphosphate (ATPase) activities, and upregulation of oxidative stress which then leads to apoptosis and disrupts the gene expression involved in the neurodevelopment, neurotransmitter pathways and Parkinson's disease (PD) like symptoms. Meanwhile, astaxanthin can partially rescue neurodevelopmental defects by downregulating oxidative stress. After exposure to pamiparib, the Notch signalling is downregulated, and the use of an activator of Notch signalling can partially rescue neurodevelopmental toxicity. Therefore, our research indicates that pamiparib may induce zebrafish neurotoxicity by downregulating Notch signalling and provides a reference for the potential neurotoxicity of pamiparib during embryonic development.

Hepatoblastoma (HB) is a common primary malignant liver tumour in children, mainly treated by means of traditional chemotherapy using platinum and doxorubicin (ADM). There has been limited progress in the research and development of new drugs for treating HB.A tumour biopsy from a child with HB was implanted into immunodeficient mice. The primary tumour and patient-derived xenograft (PDX) tumour were extensively characterised by histology, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and humanisation identification. We used the PDX model to evaluate the anti-tumour effects of anlotinib oxaliplatin (L-OHP) and sorafenib on childhood HB.The established PDX model maintained the histological characteristics of the primary tumour. Anlotinib, L-OHP, and sorafenib can significantly inhibit the tumour growth in the PDX model. There was no obvious damage of the drugs to the heart, liver and kidney of the mice, and the side effects observed were light.We have successfully established a PDX model of childhood HB. The model retains important molecular characteristics of human primary tumours. Using the model, it was found that anlotinib, L-OHP, and sorafenib have a good inhibitory effect on the growth of childhood HB. This provides a preliminary research basis for the clinical application of the drugs.

As a novel type of additive manufacturing, three-dimensional (3D) printing can efficiently realize the manufacturing of ceramic devices with more sophisticated structures. In this study, the method combining digital light processing (DLP) 3D printing technology and modified ceramic precursor polysiloxane (PSO) was not only used to fabricate Al2O3 ceramic devices with a gradient impedance bilayer structure, which consist of a cross-twist/flat structure with a torsion angle of 60°, but also to prepare needle-like SiC nanowire absorbents grown in situ to further endow the ceramic functional characteristics. The microstructure was regulated by different times of impregnation, light-curing, and thermal treatment of ferrocene-modified PSO, and Al2O3/SiCnw/SiOC composites with different electromagnetic absorption properties were prepared. We found that the Al2O3/SiCnw/SiOC composite (sample 1400–2) exhibited the optimal microwave absorption performance when it was immersed and light-cured twice, which was ascribed to its comprehensive satisfaction of the impedance matching and attenuation characteristics. When the thickness of sample 1400–2 was as thin as 2.5 mm, the minimum reflection coefficient (RCmin) reached −44.35 dB, indicating that more than 99.9990% of the electromagnetic waves could be absorbed. As the thickness increased to 2.8 mm, the effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) in the X-band was 3.6 GHz, which indicated that the effective coverage rate was as high as 85.7%. The results indicate that the generation of the stacking fault, dipole and interfacial polarization of the Al2O3/SiCnw/SiOC composites, and increasing conductivity contribute to the promotion of dielectric loss. Thus, the Al2O3/SiCnw/SiOC composite with bilayer gradient impedance structures is a good candidate for stealth radar wave absorption.

In this study, a gold nanoparticles colorimetric probe (AuNPs) with direct response to mercury ions (Hg2+) were developed using treated N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) and chloroauric acid (HAuCl4) as precursors. NMP showed good reducibility after high temperature hydrolysis and could be used as reducing and stabilizing agent to synthesize AuNPs. The prepared AuNPs have obvious characteristic absorption peaks and appear wine-red. At the same time, it was found that the presence of Hg2+ can cause the aggregation of AuNPs, increased the absorbance at 700 nm, and changed the color of the solution into blue-gray. This method is capable of sensitive and specific determination of Hg2+ ranging from 1 to 30 µM, with the limit of detection (LOD) at 0.3 µM. The method showed good specificity for the determination of Hg2+ and has the potential to be applied to Hg2+ detection in sewage samples in the environment.

Effective electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding requires materials with high permittivity. The current study reports 3D printed polymer-derived SiOC ceramics (PDC) modified with SiC nanowires (SiCnw) exhibiting both high real and imaginary parts of permittivity within X-band. SEM results indicated that a large number of pores and cracks exist in the SiOC, and twinned SiCnw were uniformly grown among them along with the existence of graphite microcrystals when the sintering temperature was 1500 ℃. The real part of permittivity ranged from 16.6 to 28.9 while the imaginary part from 31.7 to 34.2 in X-band. The EMI total shielding effectiveness (SET) of the ceramics could reach 34.7 dB with absorption loss (SEA) of 29.3 dB and reflection loss (SER) of 5.4 dB. Meanwhile, the 3D printed PDC-SiOC ceramics at 900 ℃ sintering temperature possess certain mechanical properties with the magnitude of compressive strength being 12.57 MPa.

How to select the optimal strategy to compete with rivals is one of the hottest issues in the multi-attribute decision-making (MADM) field. However, most of MADM methods not only neglect the characteristics of competitors’ behaviors but also just obtain a simple strategy ranking result cannot reflect the feasibility of each strategy. To overcome these drawbacks, a two-person non-cooperative matrix game method based on a hybrid dynamic expert weight determination model is proposed for coping with intricate competitive strategy group decision-making problems within q-rung orthopair fuzzy environment. At the beginning, a novel dynamic expert weight calculation model, considering objective individual and subjective evaluation information simultaneously, is devised by integrating the superiorities of a credibility analysis scale and a Hausdorff distance measure for q-rung orthopair fuzzy sets (q-ROFSs). The expert weights obtained by the above model can vary with subjective evaluation information provided by experts, which are closer to the actual practices. Subsequently, a two-person non-cooperative fuzzy matrix game is formulated to determine the optimal mixed strategies for competitors, which can present the specific feasibility and divergence degree of each competitive strategy and be less impacted by the number of strategies. Finally, an illustrative example, several comparative analyses and sensitivity analyses are conducted to validate the reasonability and effectiveness of the proposed approach. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach as a CSGDM method with high efficiency, low computation complexity and little calculation burden.

Pyrazosulfuron-ethyl is one of the most widely used herbicides in agriculture and can be widely detected in aquatic ecosystems. However, its biosafety, including its potential toxic effects on aquatic organisms and its mechanism, is still poorly understood. As an ideal vertebrate model, zebrafish, the effect of pyrazosulfuron-ethyl on early embryonic development and immunotoxicity of zebrafish can be well evaluated. From 10 to 72 h post fertilization (hpf), zebrafish embryos were exposed to 1, 5, and 9 mg/L pyrazosulfuron-ethyl which led in a substantial reduction in survival, total length, and heart rate, as well as a range of behavioral impairments. In zebrafish larvae, the number of neutrophils and macrophages was considerably decreased and oxidative stress levels increased in a dose-dependent way after pyrazosulfuron-ethyl exposure. And the expression of immune-related genes, such as TLR-4, MyD88 and IL-1β, were downregulated by pyrazosulfuron-ethyl exposure. Moreover, pyrazosulfuron-ethyl exposure also inhibited motor behavior. Notch signaling was upregulated after exposure to pyrazosulfuron-ethyl, while inhibition of Notch signaling pathway could rescue immunotoxicity. Therefore, our findings suggest that pyrazosulfuron-ethyl has the potential to induce immunotoxicity and neurobehavioral changes in zebrafish larvae.

Propranolol hydrochloride is the first-line drug for the clinical treatment of hypertension, arrhythmia, and other diseases. However, with the increasing use of this drug, its safety and environmental health have received more and more attention. In this study, aquatic vertebrate zebrafish were used as a model to study the toxic effects and mechanisms of propranolol hydrochloride. It was revealed that zebrafish larvae exposed to propranolol hydrochloride showed aberrant head nerve development and locomotor disorders. Additionally, exposure to propranolol hydrochloride could induce oxidative stress, alter the activities of AChE and ATPase, and disrupt the expression of genes involved in neurodevelopment and neurotransmitter pathways. More interestingly, the expression of Parkinson's disease-related genes was altered in zebrafish treated with propranolol hydrochloride. We detected the expression of genes related to the Wnt signaling pathway and found that their expression appeared to be down-regulated. The phenotype of nerve developmental defects and locomotor disorders can be effectively rescued by astaxanthin and Wnt activators. Collectively, the results suggest that propranolol hydrochloride may induce neurotoxicity and abnormal movement behavior with PD-like symptoms in zebrafish larvae.

As a novel and attractive advanced manufacturing technology, three-dimensional (3D) printing can realize the manufacturing of devices with more sophisticated structures. Metamaterials (MMs) are a novel material design idea based on the variation of physical structural designs, in order to break through apparent and intrinsic natural laws of matter, and eventually obtain extraordinary material functions. With the development of stealth technology, it has become a hot topic to seek and design radar absorbing materials to realize the high-performance requirements of “thin, light weight, wide and strong”. At this time, 3D-printed MMs with various sophisticated structures exhibit great application potential. Recent studies report the development of a wide variety of 3D-printed electromagnetic MMs (EMMs), which are attracting increasing scientific attention. To better advance the design of 3D-printed MMs, it is necessary to fully comprehend the advantages and disadvantages of various printing technologies, and fully understand the latest progress in printed EMMs. Four-dimensional (4D) printing is a combination of 3D printing and smart materials, which unfolds new opportunities for intelligent and customized development in aerospace and electronic devices. The present work reviews the research progress in electrical MMs printed using various 3D/4D printers. Emphasis is placed on the structural design of EMMs, selection of absorbing bases, category of absorbing materials, 3D printing types and EM absorption performance. As the demand for data grows rapidly, 5G wireless mode is developed. Technology from 100 GHz to 1.0 THz frequency bands has great potential in wireless communications for the upcoming 6G. 3D-printed electronic antennas and 5G/6G antennas fabricated by other processes are also briefly summarized. Meanwhile, the article discusses and looks forward to the potential future design and development of 3D/4D printed electrical AMMs for stealth and antenna applications.

As a new type of molding technology, three dimensional (3D) printing can realize the manufacturing of devices with complex shapes. In the current study, 3D printed polymer-derived ceramics (PDCs), whose molecules are customizable and designable, were fabricated to achieve high-intensity broadband absorption performance of electromagnetic (EM) wave radiation. Based on improving the surface impedance matching characteristics, with the aim of optimizing the attenuation characteristics, cross convex/flat bilayer structures and cross concave/flat bilayer structures were fabricated, respectively. Remarkably, the former exhibited a minimum reflection coefficient (RCmin) of −58.97 dB at a thickness of 3 mm, and a broadband absorption of 4.0 GHz in X-band (8.2–12.4 GHz) at 3.4 mm. More significantly, we successfully combine the cross-convex structure with the cross-concave structure of PDCs–SiOC in the same as well as in different layers to obtain parallel and series structures respectively. It was found that the EM absorption performance of parallel structures was better than that of series structures, which is attributed to the stronger resonance between the parallel structures than between the series structures. The generation of dipole and interfacial polarization of PDCs–SiOC and the advancement of conductivity contribute to the increase of dielectric loss. Consequently, the PDCs–SiOC with multifarious structures are promising radar stealth absorbing materials in aerospace field.

Collective total synthesis of five tetrahydroisoquinoline alkaloids including the first total synthesis of (-)-fennebricin A and (-)-renieramycin J has been accomplished. The synthesis features employing a single common amino acid to symmetrically construct the pentacycle of title alkaloids. The palladium-catalyzed arylation of alanine-derived amide developed by Yu was tactically utilized to afford unnatural amino acid building block rapidly and practically. The structure of synthetic (-)-renieramycin M has been confirmed by single crystal X-ray analysis for the first time.

Endoscopic rhizotomy (ER) of the medial branch has been recently developed for the treatment of lumbar facet joint pain (LFJP). However, there are no studies comparing the pain-free duration after ER and radiofrequency (RF).To evaluate the long-term outcomes for pain and physical function in patients who underwent ER versus RF for LFJP and compare their pain-free survival.Open label, prospective, real-world study that includes patients treated with ER or RF at a single center between November 2017 and February 2020.The research took place within a single university-based neuro-spine center.Patients with a positive diagnostic medial branch block (= 80% pain relief) were treated with ER or RF. Numeric rating scale (NRS), Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), and Global Impression of Change (GIoC) were obtained at the baseline, and at 6 months and 12 months postoperatively. The duration of pain-free time was recorded at every follow-up. The final follow-up was conducted in March 2021.Of 55 patients with LFJP, 19 underwent ER, and 36 underwent RF. Both ER and RF groups showed significant decreases in NRS and ODI scores at 6 months and 12 months compared with baseline (P0.001). ER had significantly better efficacy than RF in NRS, ODI, and GIoC scores at 6 and 12 months (P0.05). The pain-free survival curves showed that the median pain-free duration was 20 months and 10 months in ER and RF, respectively.Patients were not randomized to different groups, which may have led to bias.Both ER and RF can improve the pain and physical function in patients with LFJP. ER is associated with a longer operative duration and medical expenses; however, it provides more sustained efficacy than RF. The surgical choice should depend on the patients' specific conditions.

As a pathogen of cultured teleosts, Pseudomonas plecoglossicida has caused significant economic losses. flgC plays an important role in encoding flagellar basal-body rod proteins. Our previous studies revealed the high expression of P. plecoglossicida flgC in infected Epinephelus coioides. To explore the role of flgC in the virulence of P. plecoglossicida and the immune response of E. coioides to the infection of P. plecoglossicida, flgC gene of P. plecoglossicida was knocked down by RNA interference (RNAi). The results showed that the flgC gene in all four mutants of P. plecoglossicida was significantly knocked down, and the mutant with the best knockdown efficiency of 94.3% was selected for subsequent studies. Compared with the NZBD9 strain of P. plecoglossicida, the flgC-RNAi strain showed a significantly decrease in chemotaxis, motility, adhesion, and biofilm formation. Furthermore, compared with the E. coioides infected with the NZBD9 strain, the infection of flgC-RNAi strain resulted in the infected E. coioides a 1.5-day delay in the time of first death and an 80% increase in survival rate, far fewer white nodules upon the spleen surfaces, and lower pathogen load in the spleens. RNAi of flgC significantly influenced the metabolome and transcriptome of the spleen in infected E. coioides. KEGG enrichment analysis exhibited that the Toll-like receptor signaling pathway was the most enriched immune pathway; the most significantly enriched metabolic pathways were associated with Linoleic acid metabolism, Choline metabolism in cancer, and Glycerophospholipid metabolism. Further combined analysis of transcriptome and metabolome indicated significant correlations among pantothenate and CoA biosynthesis, beta-alanine metabolism, lysosome metabolites, and related genes. These results suggested that flgC was a pathogenic gene of P. plecoglossicida; flgC was associated with the regulation of chemotaxis, motility, biofilm formation, and adhesion; flgC influenced the immune response of E. coioides to the infection of P. plecoglossicida.

Magnolia grandiflora (Southern magnolia) is a popular evergreen tree, planted especially as an ornamental for landscaping. In September 2019, leaf spots were observed on M. grandiflora at the campus of Jiangxi Agricultural University (28°45'56″N, 115°50'21″E). Approximately 64% (23 out of 36) M. grandiflora trees (most 24-year-old) occurred leaf spot disease at the campus. On average, 40% of the leaves per individual tree were affected. Foliar symptoms began as small dark brown lesions formed along the leaf margins. As the disease developed, the lesions' center was sunken with a dark brown border. Symptomatic leaves were collected and cut into 5 × 5 mm pieces. Leaf pieces from the margin of the necrotic tissue were surface sterilized in 70% ethanol for 30 s followed by 2% NaOCl for 1 min and then rinsed in sterile water three times. Tissues were placed on potato dextrose agar (PDA) and incubated at 25°C. Of more than 35 isolates, most shared a similar morphology, with an isolation rate of 85%. Three isolates (JNG-1, JNG-2, and JNG-3) were chosen for single-spore purification and used for morphological characterization and identification. Colonies on PDA of the three isolates were white, cottony, and grayish-white on the undersides of the culture. Conidia were single-celled, straight, hyaline, cylindrical, clavate, and measured 4.4-5.6 × 13.2-17.8 µm (4.7 ± 0.3 × 14.6 ± 1.0 µm, n = 100). Appressoria were brown to dark brown, ovoid to clavate, slightly irregular to irregular, and ranged from 5.5-9.2 × 4.6-6.5 µm (7.3 ± 0.4 × 5.4 ± 0.3 µm, n=100). Morphological features were similar to Colletotrichum siamense as previously described (Weir et al. 2012). The internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions, actin (ACT), calmodulin (CAL), beta-tubulin 2 (TUB2), chitin synthase (CHS-1) and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) were amplified from genomic DNA for the three isolates using primers ITS1/ITS4, ACT-512F/ACT-783R, CL1/CL2, T1/Bt2b, CHS-79F/CHS-345R and GDF/GDR (Weir et al. 2012), respectively and sequenced. All sequences were deposited into GenBank (ITS, MZ325948-MZ325950; ACT, MZ461477 - MZ461479; GAPDH, MZ461483 - MZ461485; TUB2, MZ461486 - MZ461488; CHS-1, MZ441182 - MZ441184; CAL, MZ461480 - MZ461482). A neighbor-joining phylogenetic tree was constructed with MEGA 7.0 using the concatenation of multiple sequences (Kumar et al. 2016). According to the phylogenetic tree, all three isolates fall within the C. siamense clade (boot support 96%). The pathogenicity of three isolates were tested on M. grandiflora plants, which were grown in the field. Healthy leaves were wounded with a sterile needle and then inoculated with 10 µL of spore suspension (106 conidia/mL). Controls were treated with ddH2O (Zhu et al. 2019). All the inoculated leaves were covered with black plastic bags to keep a high-humidity environment for 2 days. All the inoculated leaves showed similar symptoms to those observed in field, whereas control leaves were asymptomatic for 10 days. The infection rate was 100%. C. siamense was re-isolated from the lesions, whereas no fungus was isolated from control leaves. It was confirmed that C. gloeosporioides is the causal agent of leaf spot on Magnolia virginiana in America (Xiao et al. 2004). However, this is the first report of C. siamense causing leaf spot on M. grandiflora in China. This study provided crucial information for epidemiologic studies and appropriate control strategies for this newly emerging disease.
