La educación en automática es un área madura en la que multitud de profesores e investigadores han trabajado intensamente para afrontar el reto de proporcionar una educación versátil, con una fuerte base científica. Todo ello sin perder de vista las necesidades de la industria; adaptando los contenidos, las metodologías y las herramientas a los continuos cambios sociales y tecnológicos de nuestro tiempo. Este artículo presenta una reflexión sobre el papel de la automática en la sociedad actual, una revisión de los objetivos tradicionales de la educación en automática a través de los trabajos seminales del área y finalmente una revisión de las principales tendencias actuales., Control education is a mature area in which many professors and researchers have worked hard to face the challenge of providing a versatile education, with a strong scientific base. One of the major problems in present tokamaks is the presence of disruptions. If disruptions are not mitigated, they can produce serious damage to the device. Therefore, disruption predictors are needed in order to apply the mitigation techniques in time. In this paper, the real-time implementation in JET of a new type of disruption predictor is presented. The new predictor, Single signal Predictor based on Anomaly Detection (SPAD), predicts disruptions detecting anomalies in the Locked Mode signal. The implementation is based on the Multi-threaded Application Real-Time executor (MARTe) framework. Analysis over JET’s ITER-like Wall campaigns (C28-C34) show that SPAD was able to predict 83.57 % of the disruptions with enough time to apply mitigation techniques. The average anticipation time was 389 ms. In this paper the real-time implementation will be discussed, as well as the optimizations developed to make the algorithm suitable for real-time processing. Performance results and possible improvements will also be analyzed.

[Resumen] El entorno colaborativo desarrollado permite realizar un envío de tareas a ser procesadas en clusters de supercomputación, sin necesidad de que los usuarios de las mismas deban conocer la infraestructura subyacente o estar familirizados con las órdenes de más bajo nivel necesarias para interactuar con estos sistemas.

Virtual and remote laboratories (VRLs) are e-learning resources that enhance the accessibility of experimental setups providing a distance teaching framework which meets the student's hands-on learning needs. In addition, online collaborative communication represents a practical and a constructivist method to transmit the knowledge and experience from the teacher to students, overcoming physical distance and isolation. This paper describes the extension of two open source tools: (1) the learning management system Moodle, and (2) the tool to create VRLs Easy Java Simulations (EJS). Our extension provides: (1) synchronous collaborative support to any VRL developed with EJS (i.e., any existing VRL written in EJS can be automatically converted into a collaborative lab with no cost), and (2) support to deploy synchronous collaborative VRLs into Moodle. Using our approach students and/or teachers can invite other users enrolled in a Moodle course to a real-time collaborative experimental session, sharing and/or supervising experiences at the same time they practice and explore experiments using VRLs.

La automatización del análisis de las señales generadas en un ambiente de fusión nuclear constituye una meta importante. El presente trabajo se encuadra en el contexto del desarrollo de clasificadores automáticos para las señales generadas en el Diagnóstico Thomson Scattering del TJ II, siendo este un ambiente de fusión específico. Dos etapas fundamentales son consideradas en el diseño del clasificador: el procesamiento de las señales y extracción de sus características, por un lado, y la clasificación, por otro. La primera es implementada, en el trabajo, recurriendo a las transformadas wavelet mientras que la segunda es implementada a través de la comparación entre las características de las señales disponibles y las de un conjunto de señales previamente seleccionadas como prototipos (template matching), operación esta que es efectuada utilizando a técnicas de trayectoria de búsqueda óptimas basadas en programación dinámica. En el mismo se muestra que la metodología empleada permite la clasificación de las señales en cuestión y que con un entrenamiento adecuado se puede extraer un buen rendimiento al clasificador desarrollado.
