A unique (GB)nRm layered structure is designed, which cleverly uses 310 nm ultraviolet light to excite green Cs3Cu2Cl5 NCs, blue Cs3Cu2I5 NCs and red CIS/ZnS core–shell QDs to achieve a balance of RGB colors and obtain white-LEDs.

Quantum dots (QDs) attract extensive attention because of their excellent optoelectronic performance. However, few research has been done on the synthesis of core–shell QDs by one-step thermal injection. Here the CdSe/ZnS core–shell QDs were successfully synthesized by a one-step thermal injection method. The synthesis process of CdSe/ZnS core–shell QDs was investigated from two aspects of reaction time and oleic acid dosage. The results suggest that the reaction time and the dosage of oleic acid have important effects on the optical properties of CdSe/ZnS core–shell QDs. The action mechanism of oleic acid was also explained in this paper. Moreover, highly efficient green quantum dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs) were fabricated with CdSe/ZnS core–shell QDs on ITO glass substrate by rotary coating method. The minimum starting voltage of 1.91 V and the maximum brightness of 12,057 cd m−2 were achieved in the QLEDs. This study is of great significance for the development of the synthesis of core–shell QDs by one-step thermal injection and QLEDs.

Inorganic quantum dot (QD)-based hole-transport materials (HTMs) have proved their potential in perovskite solar cells (PSCs). In this work, CuInS2 quantum dots (CIS QDs) were applied as HTMs for PSCs with the architecture of TiO2/Cs0.17FA0.83Pb(Br0.2I0.8)3/HTM/Au. By optimizing the preparation process, a high-quality perovskite thin film could be obtained. When the speed was 5000 rpm, the speed acceleration was 3000 rpm per s and heat treated at 150 °C, the perovskite film had low surface roughness (15.26 nm) and obvious grain boundary. The photoelectric conversion efficiency (PCE) of PSCs was greatly improved from 2.83% to 12.33% utilizing CIS QDs at an optimal concentration and with surface ligands as HTMs. Surface ligands can control the size and shape of CIS QDs, and thus affect the performance of PSCs. The carrier dynamic transportation behaviour at the CIS/perovskite interface was studied, which showed that CIS QDs as HTMs in PSCs can strongly quench the fluorescence and increase the photobleaching recovery rate. Therefore, CIS QDs are promising inorganic HTMs for the fabrication of PSCs.

Many coastal seas are severely eutrophic and required to reduce nutrient concentrations to meet a certain water quality standard. We proposed a method for nutrient removal by planting Sesuvium portulacastrum at the water surface using the floating beds in the aquaculture area of the Dongshan Bay as an example, which is an important net-cage culture base in China and where dissolved inorganic nitrogen (DIN) and dissolved inorganic phosphate (DIP) reach 0.75 mg/L and 0.097 mg/L, respectively far exceeding China’s Grade IV water quality standards. Numerical simulations were taken using the ecological model, field observations and field plantation experimental results to assess the environmental restoration effects of planting S. portulacastrum at some certain spatial scales. Our field experiments suggested that the herbs can absorb 377 g/m2 nitrogen and 22.9 g/m2 phosphorus in eight months with an inserting density of ~60 shoot/m2. The numerical experiments show that the greater the plantation area is, the more nutrient removal. Plantation in ~12% of the study area could lower nutrients to the required Grade II standards, i.e., 0.2 mg/L
