Abstract The negative inference that consumers hold ‘eavesdropping’ views concerning the intelligent recommendation services of digital platforms is fostering their selective exposure to information that aligns with their preferred viewpoints. This, in turn, exacerbates their psychological defense against digital platforms, causing consumers to become more prone to verifying existing beliefs and fostering the polarization of information choices. This phenomenon directly impacts the effectiveness of smart recommendations and the accuracy of digital platforms’ predictions of consumer behavior, potentially even adversely affecting brand trust and the long-term stability of platform usage. From the perspectives of self-verification and cognitive closure, this study delves into the influence of ‘eavesdropping’ inference cues within intelligent recommendation systems on consumers’ selective exposure to information and the underlying psychological mechanisms. Experimental findings indicated: (1) Behavioral results showed that consumers who believed in eavesdropping by digital platforms, under conditions of high comprehensibility, were more inclined to selectively engage with consistent information as opposed to inconsistent information. Under conditions of low comprehensibility, however, information consistency had no significant effect on consumers’ selective exposure. (2) EEG results revealed that, based on the need for cognitive closure, individuals in the high comprehensibility group, during the self-verification process, exhibited more cognitive conflict and required greater cognitive effort when presented with inconsistent information compared to those in the consistent information group. This, in turn, elicited higher N2 and N450 amplitudes. This study uncovered the psychological mechanism underlying this phenomenon. When consumers developed a skeptical perspective on perceived eavesdropping by digital platforms within intelligent recommendation systems, they promptly engaged in self-verification, driven by the need for cognitive closure. The study’s findings offered practical guidance to digital platforms on how to alleviate consumer suspicions when designing intelligent recommendation services, thereby mitigating negative consumer reactions to the perception of ‘eavesdropping’. This insight held significant theoretical and practical value at the intersection of digital marketing and psychology.

Abstract Green consumption is a crucial pathway towards achieving global sustainability goals. Product-oriented green advertisements can effectively stimulate consumers’ latent needs and convert them into eventual purchasing intentions and behaviors, thereby promoting green consumption. Given that neuromarketing methods facilitate the understanding of consumers’ decision-making processes, this study combines prospect theory and need fulfillment theory, employing event-related potentials (ERPs) as measures to explore changes in consumers’ cognitive resources and emotional arousal levels when confronted with green products and advertising information. This enables inference regarding consumers’ acceptance of purchasing and their psychological processes. Behavioral results indicated that message framing influences consumers’ purchases, with consumers consuming more green in response to negatively framed advertisements. EEG results indicated that matching positive framing with utilitarian green products was effective in increasing consumers’ cognitive attention in the early cognitive stage. In the late stage of cognition negative frames stimulated consumers’ mood swings more, and the influence of product type depended on the role of message frames, and the consumption motivation induced by the product, whose influence was overridden by external evaluations such as message frames. These research findings provide an explanation for the impact of frame information on consumers’ purchasing decisions at different stages, assisting marketers in devising diverse promotional strategies based on product characteristics to foster the development and practice of green consumption. This will further embed the concept of green consumption advocated by organizations such as the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), World Wildlife Fund (WWF), and Greenpeace into the public consciousness.

Abstract This cross-sectional study aimed to explore the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) regarding urinary system stones among the general public in Chengdu, China. Conducted between January and June 2023, this research targeted individuals undergoing physical examinations at the Health Management Center of Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital. Structured questionnaires were administered to collect demographic information and assess KAP related to urinary system stones. Following meticulous scrutiny, 1014 valid questionnaires were retained for analysis. The computed scores for knowledge, attitude, and practice were 9.36 ± 4.23 (possible score range 0–17), 37.75 ± 7.20 (possible score range 11–55), and 30.77 ± 4.00 (possible score range 10–50), respectively. These outcomes suggested insufficient knowledge and moderately positive attitudes and practices among the participants. Abstract Objective To compare the similarities and differences between patients with Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and those with other community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU), utilizing propensity score matching (PSM), regarding hospitalization expenses, treatment options, and prognostic outcomes, aiming to inform the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19. Methods Patients admitted to the ICU of the Third People’s Hospital of Datong City, diagnosed with COVID-19 from December 2022 to February 2023, constituted the observation group, while those with other CAP admitted from January to November 2022 formed the control group. Basic information, clinical data at admission, and time from symptom onset to admission were matched using PSM. Results A total of 70 patients were included in the COVID-19 group and 119 in the CAP group. The patients were matched by the propensity matching method, and 37 patients were included in each of the last two groups. After matching, COVID-19 had a higher failure rate than CAP, but the difference was not statistically significant (73% vs. 51%, p = 0.055). Abstract In the era of artificial intelligence, privacy empowerment illusion has become a crucial means for digital enterprises and platforms to “manipulate” users and create an illusion of control. This topic has also become an urgent and pressing concern for current research. However, the existing studies are limited in terms of their perspectives and methodologies, making it challenging to fully explain why users express concerns about privacy empowerment illusion but repeatedly disclose their personal information. This study combines the associative-propositional evaluation model (APE) and cognitive load theory, using event-related potential (ERP) technology to investigate the underlying mechanisms of how the comprehensibility and interpretability of privacy empowerment illusion cues affect users’ immediate attitudes and privacy disclosure behaviours; these mechanisms are mediated by psychological processing and cognitive load differences. Behavioural research results indicate that in the context of privacy empowerment illusion cues with low comprehensibility, users are more inclined to disclose their private information when faced with high interpretability than they are when faced with low interpretability. EEG results show that in the context of privacy empowerment illusion cues with low comprehensibility, high interpretability induces greater P2 amplitudes than does low interpretability; low interpretability induces greater N2 amplitudes than does high interpretability. This study extends the scopes of the APE model and cognitive load theory in the field of privacy research, providing new insights into privacy attitudes. Doing so offers a valuable framework through which digital enterprises can gain a deeper understanding of users’ genuine privacy attitudes and immediate reactions under privacy empowerment illusion situations. This understanding can help increase user privacy protection and improve their overall online experience, making it highly relevant and beneficial.

Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) might led to chronic and long-term effects on human organs due to its widespread use and bioaccumulation. Despite some cohorts reporting an association between DEHP exposure and BPH, its underlying mechanisms have not been investigated. Our findings indicate that exposure to DEHP or MEHP (main metabolites of DEHP in the human body) leads to increased prostate weights, elevated prostate index, and notable epithelial thickening in rats. It has been observed to promote BPH-1 cell proliferation with effects ranging from low to high concentrations. Transcriptome sequencing analysis of rat prostate tissues identified KIF11 as the key hub gene. KIF11 is highly expressed after DEHP/MEHP exposure, and knocking down of KIF11 inhibits the MEHP-induced promotion of cell proliferation. Exposure to MEHP has been observed to increase the expression of p-GSK-3β and elevate the levels of β-catenin, thereby activating the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. Knocking down of KIF11 significantly inhibits these effects. Histone H3 at Lysine 27 acetylation (H3K27ac) is implicated in the upregulation of KIF11 expression, as evidenced by the addition of the acetylation inhibitor C646. In summary, our findings established that DEHP exposure could promote BPH through H3K27ac regulated KIF11/Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.

As the prevalence of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in the service sector continues to grow, the impact of the language style and recovery strategies utilized during service failures remains insufficiently explored. This study, grounded in the theory of social presence and dual-process theory, employed a mixed-method approach combining questionnaire surveys and event-related potential (ERP) experiments to investigate the effect of different language styles (rational vs. humorous) and recovery strategies (gratitude vs. apology) on users’ willingness to forgive during the GenAI service recovery process. It further delves into the chained mediating role of perceived sincerity and social presence in this process. The findings revealed that a humorous language style was more effective in enhancing users’ willingness to forgive compared to a rational style, primarily through the enhancement of users’ perceived sincerity and sense of social presence; recovery strategies played a moderating role in this process, with the positive impact of perceived sincerity on social presence being significantly amplified when the GenAI service adopted an apology strategy. ERP results indicated that a rational language style significantly induced a larger N2 component (cognitive conflict) in apology scenarios, while a humorous style exhibited higher amplitude in the LPP component (positive emotional evaluation). This research unveils the intricate relationships between language style, recovery strategies, and users’ willingness to forgive in the GenAI service recovery process, providing important theoretical foundations and practical guidance for designing more effective GenAI service recovery strategies, and offering new insights into developing more efficacious GenAI service recovery tactics.

Background: With the rapid expansion of the generative AI market, conducting in-depth research on cognitive conflicts in human–computer interaction is crucial for optimizing user experience and improving the quality of interactions with AI systems. However, existing studies insufficiently explore the role of user cognitive conflicts and the explanation of stance attribution in the design of human–computer interactions. Methods: This research, grounded in mental models theory and employing an improved version of the oddball paradigm, utilizes Event-Related Spectral Perturbations (ERSP) and functional connectivity analysis to reveal how task types and stance attribution explanations in generative AI influence users’ unconscious cognitive processing mechanisms during service failures. Results: The results indicate that under design stance explanations, the ERSP and Phase Locking Value (PLV) in the theta frequency band were significantly lower for emotional task failures than mechanical task failures. In the case of emotional task failures, the ERSP and PLV in the theta frequency band induced by intentional stance explanations were significantly higher than those induced by design stance explanations. Conclusions: This study found that stance attribution explanations profoundly affect users’ mental models of AI, which determine their responses to service failure.

Abstract During the re-mining of historical residual coal resources, the stress environment is complex, the surrounding rock conditions are bad, the mining roadway is significantly affected by ground pressure, the layout is difficult, and the safety is poor. Taking the recovery of isolated island coal pillar in 4# coal seam as the research background, based on the difference in the distribution morphology of the goaf on both sides of the isolated island coal pillar, the stress and failure law of the isolated island panel boundary are studied by numerical simulation method. (1) The peak stress difference of multiple goaf boundaries on both sides of the isolated island coal pillar is between 0.18 and 4.51 MPa. The peak stress is affected by the change of the length of the roof “cantilever beam” at the stopping line of the goaf, so that the peak stress of the goaf boundary is periodic. (2) The high stress is mainly concentrated in the center of the pillar. The peak stress at the end of each pillar is 35–40 MPa. The coal pillar bears high stress, and the stress zone of the original rock moves to the end of the coal pillar. (3) There is a plastic zone of 8–20 m at the corner of the end of each coal pillar. On the basis of the stress zone and failure zone distribution of the goaf boundary on both sides of the isolated island panel, the roadway layout of the isolated island panel is determined, that is, the air-return roadway of the isolated island panel is arranged at random, and the width of the isolated island coal pillar d1 is selected as 10 m. The transport roadway is arranged straight, and the transport roadway of the isolated island panel is in the width section area of the goaf X4103. The width d1 of the isolated island coal pillar is selected to be 8 m, and the length d5–d7 of the mining roadway layout in the width of the coal pillar is 24 m. The roadway of isolated island panel is divided into 4 areas for support control, and the drilling pressure relief technology is proposed for high stress roadway. Through the field monitoring data, it can be seen that the mining roadway can meet the requirements of isolated island coal pillar recovery, which provides reference for the layout and control of abandoned coal roadway in this mine and other mines.

Abstract The rapid-developing soft robots and wearable devices require flexible conductive materials to maintain electric functions over a large range of deformations. Considerable efforts are made to develop stretchable conductive materials; little attention is paid to the frequent failures of integrated circuits caused by the interface mismatch of soft substrates and rigid silicon-based microelectronics. Here, we present a stretchable solder with good weldability that can strongly bond with electronic components, benefiting from the hierarchical assemblies of liquid metal particles, small-molecule modulators, and non-covalently crosslinked polymer matrix. Our self-solder shows high conductivity (>2×105 S m−1), extreme stretchability (~1000%, and >600% with chip-integrated), and high toughness (~20 MJ m−3). Additionally, the dynamic interactions within our solder’s surface and interior enable a range of unique features, including ease of integration, component substitution, and circuit recyclability. With all these features, we demonstrated an application as thermoforming technology for three-dimensional (3D) conformable electronics, showing potential in reducing the complexity of microchip interfacing, as well as scalable fabrication of chip-integrated stretchable circuits and 3D electronics.

Abstract Our previous study data suggested that the synapse-associated protein 97 (SAP97) rs3915512 polymorphism is significantly related to clinical performance in schizophrenia. The cerebellum exhibits abundant expression of SAP97, which is involved with negative symptoms, cognition and emotion in schizophrenia. As functional dysconnectivity with the cortical-subcortical-cerebellar circuitry has been widely shown in patients with schizophrenia, cortical-subcortical-cerebellar dysconnectivity can therefore be considered a possible intermediate phenotype that connects risk genes with schizophrenia. In this study, resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) was applied to evaluate whether the SAP97 rs3915512 polymorphism changes cortical/subcortical-cerebellar resting-state functional connectivity (RSFC) in 104 Han Chinese subjects (52 first-episode schizophrenia (FES) patients and 52 matched healthy controls (HCs)). To examine RSFC between cortical/subcortical regions and the cerebellum, a ROI (region of interest)-wise functional connectivity analysis was conducted. The association between abnormal cortical/subcortical-cerebellar connectivity and clinical manifestation was further assessed in FES patients with different genotypes. The interactive effect of disease and genotype on RSFC was found between the frontal gyrus (rectus) and cerebellum. A positive correlation was suggested between RSFC in the cerebellum and the hostility scores in FES patients with the A allele, and no correlation was found in FES patients with the TT genotype. The current findings identified that SAP97 may be involved in the process of mental symptoms in FES patients via cerebellar connectivity depending on the rs3915512 polymorphism genotype.

Abstract Background Pinus is the largest genus of Pinaceae and the most primitive group of modern genera. Pines have become the focus of many molecular evolution studies because of their wide use and ecological significance. However, due to the lack of complete chloroplast genome data, the evolutionary relationship and classification of pines are still controversial. With the development of new generation sequencing technology, sequence data of pines are becoming abundant. Here, we systematically analyzed and summarized the chloroplast genomes of 33 published pine species. Results Generally, pines chloroplast genome structure showed strong conservation and high similarity. The chloroplast genome length ranged from 114,082 to 121,530 bp with similar positions and arrangements of all genes, while the GC content ranged from 38.45 to 39.00%. Reverse repeats showed a shrinking evolutionary trend, with IRa/IRb length ranging from 267 to 495 bp. A total of 3,205 microsatellite sequences and 5,436 repeats were detected in the studied species chloroplasts. Additionally, two hypervariable regions were assessed, providing potential molecular markers for future phylogenetic studies and population genetics. Through the phylogenetic analysis of complete chloroplast genomes, we offered novel opinions on the genus traditional evolutionary theory and classification. Conclusion We compared and analyzed the chloroplast genomes of 33 pine species, verified the traditional evolutionary theory and classification, and reclassified some controversial species classification. This study is helpful in analyzing the evolution, genetic structure, and the development of chloroplast DNA markers in Pinus.

Abstract The development of conversion‐typed anodes with ultrafast charging and large energy storage is quite challenging due to the sluggish ions/electrons transfer kinetics in bulk materials and fracture of the active materials. Herein, the design of porous carbon nanofibers/SnS2 composite (SnS2@N‐HPCNFs) for high‐rate energy storage, where the ultrathin SnS2 nanosheets are nanoconfined in N‐doped carbon nanofibers with tunable void spaces, is reported. The highly interconnected carbon nanofibers in three‐dimensional (3D) architecture provide a fast electron transfer pathway and alleviate the volume expansion of SnS2, while their hierarchical porous structure facilitates rapid ion diffusion. Specifically, the anode delivers a remarkable specific capacity of 1935.50 mAh g−1 at 0.1 C and excellent rate capability up to 30 C with a specific capacity of 289.60 mAh g−1. Meanwhile, at a high rate of 20 C, the electrode displays a high capacity retention of 84% after 3000 cycles and a long cycle life of 10 000 cycles. This work provides a deep insight into the construction of electrodes with high ionic/electronic conductivity for fast‐charging energy storage devices.

Illegitimate wildlife consumption poses threats to public health, biodiversity and natural ecosystems. Understanding of public attitudes towards wildlife as food can help promote wildlife conservation. However, almost wildlife consumption researches limit insights to subjective attitudes. To address this gap, the present employs a comprehensive approach, combining questionnaires, the Implicit Association Test (IAT) paradigm, and Event-Related Potential (ERP) method. This multi-method strategy enables better exploration of both explicit and implicit attitudes toward wildlife food. Participants who had been exposed to wildlife food consumption were randomly recruited. Compared to non-wildlife foods, people had a lower acceptability of wildlife foods, a longer reaction time when paired with positive words and a smaller N400 component when paired with negative words. These results revealed that public showed negative attitudes towards wildlife food compared to non-wildlife food, and this result was consistent between explicit and implicit attitudes. This outcome also provides a positive signal for wildlife conservation. Leveraging the public's negative perceptions of wildlife food in conjunction with the adverse consequences of eating wildlife food can be employed to further the cause of wildlife conservation.

The premise of effective use of high-resolution remote sensing (HRRS) images is that the data integrity and authenticity of HRRS images must be guaranteed. This paper proposes a new subject-sensitive hashing algorithm for the integrity authentication of HRRS images. This algorithm takes AGIM-net (Attention Gate-based improved M-net) proposed in this paper to extract the subject-sensitive features of the HRRS images, and uses Principal Component Analysis (PCA) based method to compress and encode the extracted features. AGIM-net is an improved U-net based on attention mechanism, adding multi-scale input in the encoder stage to extract rich image features; adding multi-scale output in the decoder stage, and suppressing the features irrelevant to the subject through Attention Gate to improve the robustness of the algorithm. Experiments show that the proposed algorithm has improved robustness compared with existing algorithms, and the tamper sensitivity and security are basically equivalent to the existing algorithms.

Within the rapidly growing urban tourism industry, the development of urban landscapes plays a crucial role in shaping a city’s image and competitiveness; however, standardized and mismatched landscapes often have a negative impact, highlighting the importance of assessing urban landscape perceptions. Although existing studies have discussed this through subjective questionnaires and physiological methods, the underlying neural mechanisms have not been thoroughly explored. The research focuses on Jingdezhen, a renowned historical and cultural city in China, as its case study. Utilized the event-related potential (ERP) method to explore individuals’ perceptual consistency and neural activity toward different types of urban landscapes. We adopted a 2 (landscape type: historical, modern) X 2 (perceptual match: consistent, inconsistent) within-subject design while recording behavioral data and electrophysiological responses. The results showed that, under any condition, there were no significant differences in people’s behavioral data. Neurophysiological results indicate that consistent perceptions of modern landscapes elicited greater P200 responses, suggesting increased attention driven by visual aesthetics and emotional activation. Under conditions of perceptual inconsistency, historical landscapes elicited higher N400 amplitudes than modern landscapes, revealing cognitive conflict and effort. This study demonstrates that P200 and N400 components are effective indicators for assessing urban perception, proving the viability of the event-related potential method in urban landscape research. Additionally, the research reveals the neural mechanisms of urban environmental perception from the early stages of attention and emotional distribution to the later stages of cognitive decision-making, which involve cognitive processes from “bottom-up” to “top-down”. This study not only provides a reference for efficient design planning for those involved in urban science but also inspires the coordination between the developmental needs of historical and modern urban landscapes. Moreover, it offers a new perspective for an interdisciplinary approach to urban perception assessment.

BackgroundSchizophrenia (SCZ) is a serious chronic mental disorder. Our previous case–control genetic association study has shown that microRNA-137 (miR-137) may only protect females against SCZ. Since estrogen, an important female sex hormone, exerts neuroprotective effects, the relationship between estrogen and miR-137 in the pathophysiology of SCZ was further studied in this study.MethodsGenotyping of single-nucleotide polymorphism rs1625579 of miR-137 gene in 1,004 SCZ patients and 896 healthy controls was conducted using the iMLDR assay. The effect of estradiol (E2) on the miR-137 expression was evaluated on the human mammary adenocarcinoma cell line (MCF-7) and the mouse hippocampal neuron cell line (HT22). The relationships between serum E2, prolactin (PRL), and peripheral blood miR-137 were investigated in 41 SCZ patients and 43 healthy controls. The miR-137 and other reference miRNAs were detected by real-time fluorescent quantitative reverse transcription-PCR.ResultsBased on the well-known SNP rs1625579, the distributions of protective genotypes and alleles of the miR-137 gene were not different between patients and healthy controls but were marginally significantly lower in female patients. E2 upregulated the expression of miR-137 to 2.83 and 1.81 times in MCF-7 and HT22 cells, respectively. Both serum E2 and blood miR-137 were significantly decreased or downregulated in SCZ patients, but they lacked expected positive correlations with each other in both patients and controls. When stratified by sex, blood miR-137 was negatively correlated with serum E2 in female patients. On the other hand, serum PRL was significantly increased in SCZ patients, and the female patients had the highest serum PRL level and a negative correlation between serum PRL and blood miR-137.ConclusionThe plausible SCZ-protective effect of miR-137 may be female specific, of which the underlying mechanism may be that E2 upregulates the expression of miR-137. This protective mechanism may also be abrogated by elevated PRL in female patients. These preliminary findings suggest a new genetic/environmental interaction mechanism for E2/miR-137 to protect normal females against SCZ and a novel E2/PRL/miR-137-related pathophysiology of female SCZ, implying some new antipsychotic ways for female patients in future.

BackgroundSerum miR-183-5p levels are associated with carotid atherosclerosis, while less is known about the relationship between circulating miR-183-5p levels and stable coronary artery disease (CAD).MethodsIn this cross-sectional study, consecutive patients with chest pain who underwent coronary angiograms from January 2022 to March 2022 at our center were enrolled. Those presenting acute coronary syndrome or had a prior CAD were excluded. Clinical presentations, laboratory parameters, and angiographic findings were collected. Serum miR-183-5p levels were measured using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. CAD severity was displayed as the number of diseased vessels and further evaluated by the Gensini score system.ResultsOverall, 135 patients (median age, 62.0 years; male, 52.6%) were included in the present study. Stable CAD was identified in 85.2% of the study population, with 45.9% having 1-vessel disease, 21.5% having 2-vessel disease, and 17.8% having 3-vessel or left main disease. Abstract Bubbles are pervasive in aqueous media, and on account of numerous advantages of tiny bubbles, efficient bubble splitting is favorable in a wide range of applications. However, underwater bubble splitting faces a lot of challenges because bubbles tend to coalesce during the rising due to the action of buoyancy and surface energy, and the consumption of considerable external energy is needed. Inspired by the bubble bursting phenomenon on the feathers of high‐speed swimming penguins, we proposed a new bubble splitting strategy based on the energy conversion of bubble transportation on superhydrophobic open pathways. A porous superhydrophobic coating was first developed via a bubble‐template assisted fabrication method, which provides hierarchical micro/nanostructures and robust air plastron. Gas bubbles can transport along the superhydrophobic open pathways without perturbation, and split into smaller ones by taking advantage of the potential energy contributed by buoyancy. By controlling the superhydrophobic pathway, the size of the split bubbles can be controlled precisely. We also demonstrated that a bubble splitting device could be applied in underwater reactions where an enhanced gas−liquid mass transfer is desired. This bubble splitting strategy may offer new prospects for underwater bubble manipulation and unfold a potential in many bubble‐involved fields.

Abstract The emerging roles of extracellular vesicles (EVs) in bladder cancer have recently been identified. This study aims to elucidate the role of microRNA-139-5p (miR-139-5p) shuttled by bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs)-derived EVs (BMSCs-EVs) in bladder cancer, with the possible mechanism explored. Expression of miR-139-5p and KIF3A was tested, followed by an analysis of their correlation. EVs were isolated from BMSCs and co-cultured with T24 or BOY-12E cells with miR-139-5p mimic/inhibitor, oe-KIF3A, and/or si-p21 transfected to study the roles of miR-139-5p/KIF3A/p21 in bladder cancer cell functions. A nude mouse model of subcutaneous xenograft tumor was constructed to detect the effect of miR-139-5p in BMSCs-EVs on the tumorigenesis and lung metastasis of bladder cancer cells in vivo. It was identified that miR-139-5p was highly expressed in BMSCs-EVs, but poorly expressed in bladder cancer. BMSCs-EVs transferred miR-139-5p into bladder cancer cells where miR-139-5p inhibited the malignant features of bladder cancer cells in vitro. miR-139-5p in BMSCs-EVs targeted KIF3A and inhibited the expression of KIF3A, thereby activating p21. miR-139-5p in BMSCs-EVs arrested the tumorigenesis and lung metastasis of bladder cancer cells in vivo by modulation of the KIF3A/p21 axis. Altogether, BMSCs-EVs carried miR-139-5p targeted KIF3A to activate p21, thus delaying the occurrence of bladder cancer.

Abstract Quasi solid‐state composite polymer electrolytes have generated much interest due to their high ionic conductivity and stable interfacial compatibility with electrodes. However, they suffer from the balance of liquid plasticizer content and ionic conductivity to retard potential safety issues. In this paper, a polyvinylene carbonate (PVCA)‐based quasi solid‐state composite polymer electrolyte for ambient‐temperature lithium‐ion battery is proposed, wherein succinonitrile (SN) serves as the multifunctional component to increase the ionic conductivity. The study indicates that SN can plasticize the polymer electrolyte, coordinate with lithium‐ion, and modulate the molecular weight of the polymer. The fabricated PVCA–SN polymer electrolyte delivers an ionic conductivity up to 4.5 × 10–4 S/cm at 25°C. The assembled lithium‐ion battery based on PVCA electrolyte demonstrates an excellent rate performance and high‐capacity retention at ambient temperature. The proposition of PVCA‐based quasi solid‐state composite polymer electrolyte provides a resultful strategy for high‐performance rechargeable lithium batteries.

BackgroundCell division cycle associated 2 (CDCA2), a member of the cell division cycle associated proteins (CDCA) family, is crucial in the regulation of cell mitosis and DNA repair. CDCA2 was extensively examined in our work to determine its role in a wide range of cancers.MethodsCDCA2 differential expression was studied in pan-cancer and in diverse molecular and immunological subgroups in this research. Additionally, the diagnostic and prognostic significance of CDCA2 in pan-cancer was also evaluated using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) and Kaplan-Meier (KM) curves. Prognostic value of CDCA2 in distinct clinical subgroups of lower grade glioma (LGG) was also investigated and a nomogram was constructed. Lastly, potential mechanisms of action of CDCA2 were interrogated including biological functions, ceRNA networks, m6A modification and immune infiltration.ResultsCDCA2 is shown to be differentially expressed in a wide variety of cancers. Tumors are diagnosed and forecasted with a high degree of accuracy by CDCA2, and the quantity of expression CDCA2 is linked to the prognosis of many cancers. Additionally, the expression level of CDCA2 in various subgroups of LGG is also closely related to prognosis. The results of enrichment analyses reveal that CDCA2 is predominantly enriched in the cell cycle, mitosis, and DNA replication. Subsequently, hsa-miR-105-5p is predicted to target CDCA2. In addition, 4 lncRNAs were identified that may inhibit the hsa-miR-105-5p/CDCA2 axis in LGG. Meanwhile, CDCA2 expression is shown to be associated to m6A-related genes and levels of immune cell infiltration in LGG.ConclusionCDCA2 can serve as a novel biomarker for the diagnosis and prognosis in pan-cancer, especially in LGG. For the development of novel targeted therapies in LGG, it may be a potential molecular target. However, to be sure, we'll need to do additional biological experiments to back up our results from bioinformatic predictions.

Abstract Background Schizophrenia is currently considered to be a polygene-related disease with unknown etiology. This research will verify whether the single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) of the long intergenic noncoding RNA01080 (linc01080) contributes to the susceptibility and phenotypic heterogeneity of schizophrenia, with a view to providing data support for the prevention and individualized treatment of this disease. Method The SNP rs7990916 in linc01080 were genotyped in 1139 schizophrenic and 1039 controls in a Southern Chinese Han population by the improved multiplex ligation detection reaction (imLDR) technique. Meanwhile, we assessed and analyzed the association between this SNP and schizophrenics’ clinical symptoms, and the cognitive function. Result There was no significant difference in genotype distribution, allele frequency distribution, gender stratification analysis between the two groups. However, the SNP of rs7990916 was significantly associated with the age of onset in patients with schizophrenia (P = 8.22E-07), patients with T allele had earlier onset age compared with CC genotype carriers. In terms of cognitive function, patients with T allele scored lower than CC genotype carriers in the Tower of London score and symbol coding score in the Brief assessment of Cognition (BACS), and the difference was statistically significant (P = 0.014, P = 0.022, respectively). Conclusion Our data show for the first time that linc01080 polymorphism may affect the age of onset and neurocognitive function in patients with schizophrenia.

The rapid overcompensatory growth that appears when cyanobacteria are supplied with adequate resources after a period of resource deprivation might contribute to the occurrence of cyanobacterial blooms. We investigated the changing characteristics of overcompensatory growth and serine/threonine kinase (STK) genes expression of cyanobacterium Microcystis aeruginosa in response to light limitation. The results showed M. aeruginosa exhibited overcompensatory growth for 2 days after light recovery, during which the increase in growth was inversely related to light intensity. Expression of STK genes, such as spkD, was upregulated significantly at 0.5–4 h after light recovery (P < 0.05). To investigate the function of STK genes in the overcompensatory growth, M. aeruginosa spkD was heterologously expressed in Synechocystis. Transgenic Synechocystis exhibited greater and longer overcompensatory growth than wild-type Synechocystis after light recovery. Relative expression levels of STK genes in transgenic Synechocystis were significantly higher than those in wild-type Synechocystis at 24 h of light recovery (P < 0.05). Heterologous expression of Microcystis spkD might stimulate overcompensatory growth of Synechocystis by affecting its STK gene expression. HIGHLIGHTS Light limitation induced overcompensatory growth of Microcystis.; Light limitation affected expression of most STK genes of Microcystis.; Heterologous expression of Microcystis spkD enhanced and prolonged light-limitation-induced overcompensatory growth of transgenic Synechocystis.; Heterologous expression of Microcystis spkD stimulated relative expression levels of STK genes in transgenic Synechocystis.;

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a frequent malignancy of the urinary system. It has been found that hypoxia mediates the malignant evolvement of RCC. Here, we probe the impact and potential mechanism of HECT domain E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase 2 (HECTD2) and HIF-1α on regulating RCC evolvement. RCC tissues and adjacent normal tissues were collected, and the association between the expression profiles of HECTD2 and HIF-1α and the clinicopathological features was analyzed. Additionally, we constructed HECTD2/HIF-1α overexpression and knockdown models in RCC cell lines to ascertain the impacts of HECTD2 and HIF-1α on RCC cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and growth in vivo. We applied bioinformatics to predict the upstream miRNA targets of HECTD2. Meanwhile, RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP), and the dual-luciferase reporter assays were employed to clarify the targeting association between HECTD2 and miR-320a. The effect of miR-320a on HECTD2-mediated RCC progression was investigated. The results suggested that both HIF-1α and HECTD2 were up-regulated in RCC (compared with adjacent non-tumor tissues), and they had positive relationship. Moreover, higher level of HECTD2 and HIF-1α is associated with poorer overall survival of RCC patients. HECTD2 overexpression heightened RCC cell proliferation and migration, and weakened cell apoptosis. On the other hand, the malignant phenotypes of RCC cells were signally impeded by HECTD2 or HIF-1α knockdown. Moreover, miR-320a targeted the 3′-untranslated region of HECTD2 and suppressed HECTD2 expression. The rescue experiments showed that miR-320a restrained HECTD2-mediated malignant progression in RCC, while up-regulation of HIF-1α hampered miR-320a expression. Collectively, HIF-1α mediated HECTD2 up-regulation and aggravated RCC progression by attenuating miR-320a.

In this paper, a medium-frequency inverter spot welder was used for resistance spot-welding experiments on 980 MPa grade cold-rolled δ-TRIP(Transformation-induced Plasticity) steel. The effects of the tempering process on the morphology, microstructure, element distribution, and properties of spot-welded joints were studied by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), and Electron-Probe MicroAnalysis (EPMA). The microstructure of the nugget zone obtained by single-pulse process was δ ferrite, lath martensite, and twin martensite. After adding tempering under the single-pulse process, the microstructure was δ ferrite and lath martensite. However, the morphology of the microstructure was still dendritic, which remained unchanged. The tensile shear failure of spot-welded joints under the two processes was an interface failure, and the fractures were cleavage fractures. After adding tempering, the interface fracture surface presents two kinds of fracture characteristics: the outer cracks’ growth direction was consistent with the columnar crystal growth direction, and the inner crystal cracks occurred in the nugget core and finally grew along the columnar grain boundary. Due to the significant hardness difference between δ ferrite (283 HV) and martensite (533 HV), the low-strength δ ferrite phase was the main channel of crack propagation. After adding tempering, the hardness distribution of the spot-welded joints was more uniform and the tensile shear force increased (7.4 kN→8.5 kN).

This research aimed to investigate the role of glyoxalase 1 (Glo-1) polymorphisms in the susceptibility of schizophrenia. Using the real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and spectrophotometric assays technology, significant differences in Glo-1 messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) expression (P = 3.98 × 10−5) and enzymatic activity (P = 1.40 × 10−6) were found in peripheral blood of first-onset antipsychotic-naïve patients with schizophrenia and controls. The following receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves analysis showed that Glo-1 could predict the schizophrenia risk (P = 4.75 × 10−6 in mRNA, P = 1.43 × 10−7 in enzymatic activity, respectively). To identify the genetic source of Glo-1 risk in schizophrenia, Glo-1 polymorphisms (rs1781735, rs1130534, rs4746, and rs9470916) were genotyped with SNaPshot technology in 1,069 patients with schizophrenia and 1,023 healthy individuals. Then, the impact of risk polymorphism on the promoter activity, mRNA expression, and enzymatic activity was analyzed. The results revealed significant differences in the distributions of genotype (P = 0.020, false discovery rate (FDR) correction) and allele (P = 0.020, FDR correction) in rs1781735, in which G > T mutation significantly showed reduction in the promoter activity (P = 0.016), mRNA expression, and enzymatic activity (P = 0.001 and P = 0.015, respectively, GG vs. TT, in peripheral blood of patients with schizophrenia) of Glo-1. The expression quantitative trait locus (eQTL) findings were followed up with the resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) analysis. The TT genotype of rs1781735, associated with lower RNA expression in the brain (P < 0.05), showed decreased neuronal activation in the left middle frontal gyrus in schizophrenia (P < 0.001). In aggregate, this study for the first time demonstrates how the genetic and biochemical basis of Glo-1 polymorphism culminates in the brain function changes associated with increased schizophrenia risk. Thus, establishing a combination of multiple levels of changes ranging from genetic variants, transcription, protein function, and brain function changes is a better predictor of schizophrenia risk.

As a significant space–time infrastructure, the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) provides high-precision positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) information to users all over the world. However, GNSS real-time kinematic (RTK) mobile receiver signal attenuation is obvious in complex environments such as under trees, urban canyons, and indoors, among others, and it is incapable of meeting the demand of multi-level mass users for indoor and outdoor seamless positioning applications. The goal of this study was to address the limitations and vulnerabilities of the GNSS RTK positioning above-mentioned. First, we propose a GNSS RTK/UWB/DBA fusion positioning model and provide detailed algorithm steps for various types of observations. The performance of the GNSS RTK/UWB/DBA fusion positioning under various occlusion environments is then thoroughly evaluated using static and dynamic cart experiments. The experiment results show that as the elevation mask angle increases, the number of available GNSS satellites decreases and the ambiguity resolution success rate decreases; in comparison to GNSS RTK, the proposed GNSS RTK/UWB/DBA fusion positioning model can significantly improve the spatial geometry distribution of observations, reduce the position dilution of precision (PDOP) value, and improve the ambiguity resolution success rate. At an elevation mask angle of 50 degrees, GNSS RTK/UWB/DBA combination positioning can improve the ambiguity resolution success rate by 20% to 60%, and a positioning error less than 5 cm by 20% to 50%. It also indicates that the GNSS RTK/UWB/DBA fusion positioning model has higher positioning accuracy and can effectively improve the availability and reliability of GNSS RTK in a local harsh environment.

Functional and structural disturbances in the orbitofrontal–striatal–thalamic circuitry are thought to be associated with mental symptoms and neurocognitive impairments in schizophrenia. This study tested whether synapse-associated protein 97 (SAP97), a reasonable candidate gene for schizophrenia, is related to orbitofrontal–striatal–thalamic connection changes in first-episode schizophrenia (FES) patients and the clinical performance of schizophrenic patients by affecting this integrity. Fifty-two FES patients and 52 matched healthy controls were recruited. All subjects underwent genotyping via the improved multiplex ligation detection reaction technique and scanning with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to provide orbitofrontal–striatal–thalamic functional and structural imaging data. A two-way analysis of covariance model was employed to examine abnormal brain connectivities, and Spearman correlations were applied to estimate the relationships between brain connectivity and clinical manifestations. In the FES group, those with the SAP97 rs3915512 TT genotype showed lower structural and functional connectivity than A allele carriers between the orbitofrontal gyrus and striatum/thalamus. In the FES group, negative correlations were found between resting-state functional connectivity (RSFC) in the orbitofrontal gyrus and thalamus, and positive symptoms between structural connections in the orbitofrontal gyrus and striatum and cognitive functions, and positive correlations were suggested between RSFC in the orbitofrontal gyrus and thalamus and negative symptoms. Our findings suggested that the SAP97 rs3915512 polymorphism may be involved in mental symptoms and cognitive dysfunction in FES patients by influencing structural and functional connectivity of the orbitofrontal–striatal and orbitofrontal–thalamic regions.

Objective: To investigate the effects of microRNA-137 (MIR137) polymorphisms (rs1198588 and rs2660304) on the risk of schizophrenia in a Han Chinese population.Methods: Schizophrenia was diagnosed according to the DSM-5. Clinical symptoms and cognitive functions were assessed with the Positive and Negative Symptom Scale (PANSS) and Brief Assessment of Cognition in Schizophrenia (BACS), respectively. The polymorphisms were genotyped by improved multiplex ligation detection reaction (iMLDR) technology in 1,116 patients with schizophrenia and 1,039 healthy controls.Results: Significant associations were found between schizophrenia and MIR137 in the distributions of genotypes (p = 0.037 for rs1198588; p = 0.037 for rs2660304, FDR corrected) and alleles (p = 0.043 for rs1198588; p = 0.043 for rs2660304, FDR corrected) of two SNPs. When the population was stratified by sex, we found female-specific associations between MIR137 and schizophrenia in terms of genotype and allele distributions of rs1198588 (χ2 = 4.41, p = 0.036 and χ2 = 4.86, p = 0.029, respectively, FDR corrected) and rs2660304 (χ2 = 4.74, p=0.036 and χ2 = 4.80, p = 0.029, respectively, FDR corrected). Analysis of the MIR137 haplotype rs1198588-rs2660304 showed a significant association with schizophrenia in haplotype T-T [χ2 = 4.60, p = 0.032, OR = 1.32, 95% CI (1.02–1.70)]. Then, significant female-specific associations were found with the haplotypes T-T and G-A [χ2 = 4.92, p = 0.027, OR = 1.62, 95% CI (1.05–2.50); χ2 = 4.42, p = 0.035, OR = 0.62, 95% CI (0.39–0.97), respectively]. When the TT genotype of rs1198588 was compared to the GT+GG genotype, a clinical characteristics analysis also showed a female-specific association in category instances (t = 2.76, p = 0.042, FDR corrected).Conclusion: The polymorphisms within the MIR137 gene are associated with susceptibility to schizophrenia, and a female-specific association of MIR137 with schizophrenia was reported in a Han Chinese population.

Satellite clock offset is an important factor affecting the accuracy of real-time precise point positioning (RT-PPP). Due to missing real-time service (RTS) products provided by the International GNSS Service (IGS) or network faults, users may not obtain effective real-time corrections, resulting in the unavailability of RT-PPP. Considering this issue, an improved back propagation (BP) neural network optimized by heterogeneous comprehensive learning and dynamic multi-swarm particle swarm optimizer (HPSO-BP) is proposed for clock offset prediction. The new model uses the particle swarm optimizer to optimize the initial parameters of the BP neural network, which can avoid the instability and over-fitting problems of the traditional BP neural network. IGS RTS product data is selected for the experimental analysis; the results demonstrate that the average prediction precision of the HPSO-BP model for 20-min and 60-min is better than 0.15 ns, improving by approximately 85% compared to traditional models including the linear polynomial (LP) model, the quadratic polynomial (QP) model, the gray system model (GM (1,1)), and the ARMA time series model. It indicates that the HPSO-BP model has reasonable practicability and stability in the short-term satellite clock offset prediction, and its prediction performance is superior to traditional models. Therefore, in practical applications, the clock offset products predicted by the HPSO-BP model can meet the centimeter-level positioning accuracy requirements of RT-PPP.

Our previous study suggested that the synapse-associated protein 97 (SAP97) gene rs3915512 polymorphism may influence neurocognition in schizophrenia patients. Neuroimaging studies have shown a possible association between cognitive function and brain activity/connectivity. Considering the poor understanding of whether the disease state and SAP97 rs3915512 polymorphism have interactive effects on brain activity/connectivity, 52 first-episode schizophrenia (FES) patients and 52 healthy controls were genotyped using blood DNA samples and underwent magnetic resonance imaging scanning. A two-way ANCOVA model was performed with rs3915512 genotypes and disease state as the between-subject factors. A significant disease × SAP97 interactive effect was found for the amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) in the right supplementary motor area, left rolandic opercularis area (ROC-L), and bilateral middle occipital gyrus (MOG). In addition, among auditory/visual-related brain areas, a significant interactive effect was found for resting-state functional connectivity (RSFC) between the MOG-L and bilateral superior temporal gyrus (STG) in the STG-L with ROC-R, right cuneus (Cu-R), left fusiform (Fu-L), and left lingual gyrus (LG-L). Positive correlations were found between ALFF in the ROC-L and motor speed scores, between RSFC in the STG-L and LG-L and between Brief Assessment of Cognition in Schizophrenia verbal memory scores in FES. The SAP97 rs3915512 polymorphism may affect neurocognitive function in patients with schizophrenia by changing the brain activity and connectivity of auditory/visual-related brain areas.

In recent years, low-cost single-frequency GNSS receivers have been widely used in many fields such as mass navigation and deformation monitoring; however, due to the poor signal quality of low-cost patch antennae, it is difficult for carrier phase real-time kinematic (RTK) technology to fix the integer ambiguity. Differential GNSS (DGNSS) positioning with pseudorange can effectively meet the high robustness and reliability requirements for the submeter to the meter level positioning accuracy of UVA/vehicle/aerospace users. To improve the DGNSS positioning accuracy and reliability of low-cost single-frequency GNSS receivers in complex environments, we propose a differential barometric altimetry (DBA)-assisted DGNSS positioning algorithm, which solves the DGNSS observation equations jointly and rigorously with the Earth ellipsoidal constraint equations constructed by the DBA altitude. The DBA altitude accuracy at different baseline lengths was evaluated in detail, and the DGNSS positioning performance of the single-frequency low-cost u-blox receiver NEO-M8T with a patch antenna and DGNSS/DBA combined positioning performance with the BMP280 barometer was analyzed by several sets of static and dynamic experiments under different environments. The results show that the single-frequency NEO-M8T receiver with patch antenna DGNSS positioning accuracy is submeter level in the static environment and drops to meter level in the dynamic environment. GPS+BDS dual system has higher positioning accuracy than single GPS or single BDS. DGNSS/DBA combination has higher positioning accuracy than DGNSS, especially the root mean square error (RMSE) can be improved by 30% to 80% in the U direction and slightly improved in the N and E directions. This study can provide an effective solution reference for various applications of low-cost sensor fusion positioning in the mass consumer market.

Harmonics have brought non-negligible harm to the safe and stable operation of power systems. In order to quantify the harmonic responsibilities of different stakeholders based on available monitoring data; this paper proposes a novel method based on the kurtosis detection principle of harmonic amplitude fluctuations. The amplitude fluctuation model between the harmonic voltage and current is first established at the point of common coupling, transforming traditional fluctuation method into the amplitude field. Then, the kurtosis detection and interval estimation approaches are adopted to extract the effective fluctuation subsequences of harmonic amplitude data. Finally, the equivalent harmonic impedance of the utility side is calculated to determine the harmonic responsibilities of the utility and customer sides. Simulation and field analysis indicates that the proposed method has higher accuracy on quantifying harmonic responsibilities than the existing methods, and this method avoids the using of harmonic phase-angle data, which can be effectively applied to the practical engineering.

Metabolic syndrome is the pathological basis of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes. With the prevalence of modern lifestyles, the incidence of metabolic syndrome has risen rapidly. In recent years, marine sulfate polysaccharides (MSPs) have shown positive effects in the prevention and treatment of metabolic syndrome, and they mainly come from seaweeds and marine animals. MSPs are rich in sulfate and have stronger biological activity compared with terrestrial polysaccharides. MSPs can alleviate metabolic syndrome by regulating glucose metabolism and lipid metabolism. In addition, MSPs prevent and treat metabolic syndrome by interacting with gut microbiota. MSPs can be degraded by gut microbes to produce metabolites such as short chain fatty acids (SCFAs) and free sulfate and affect the composition of gut microbiota. The difference between MSPs and other polysaccharides lies in the sulfation pattern and sulfate content, therefore, which is very important for anti-metabolic syndrome activity of MSPs. This review summarizes the latest findings on effects of MSPs on metabolic syndrome, mechanisms of MSPs in treatment/prevention of metabolic syndrome, interactions between MSPs and gut microbiota, and the role of sulfate group and sulfation pattern in MSPs activity. However, more clinical trials are needed to confirm the potential preventive and therapeutic effects on human body. It may be a better choice to develop new functional foods containing MSPs for dietary intervention in metabolic syndrome.

The restart of the receiver will lead to the change in the non-overlapping frequency inter-system biases (ISB), which will make it difficult to apply the tightly combined RTK method of pre-calibrating ISB to the actual scene. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm can be used to estimate the fractional part of the inter-system phase bias (F-ISPB) in real time, which is not affected by the receiver restart. However, the standard PSO can easily fall into local optimum and cannot accurately estimate the value of F-ISPB. In this contribution, based on the characteristics of F-ISPB, we propose an improved PSO with adaptive search space and elite reservation strategy to estimate the F-ISPB in real time. When the value of F-ISPB is close to the boundary of the search space, the improved PSO will transform the search space so that F-ISPB will be located near the central region of the new search space, which will greatly reduce the situation of the standard PSO easily falling into local optimum. Since F-ISPB is very stable, an elite retention strategy will help us to estimate F-ISPB faster and more accurately. Three sets of short baseline static data were selected for testing. The results show that the inter-system differenced model based on the improved PSO has a higher ambiguity fixed rate and positioning accuracy than the inter-system differenced model based on the standard PSO and the classical intra-system differenced model, and the fewer the number of satellites, the more obvious the effect.

GNSS-only attitude determination is difficult to perform well in poor-satellite-tracking environments such as urban areas with high and dense buildings or trees. In addition, it is harder to resolve integer ambiguity in the case of single-frequency single-epoch process mode. In this contribution, a low-cost MEMS gyroscope is integrated with multi-antenna GNSS to improve the performance of the attitude determination. A new tightly coupled (TC) model is proposed, which uses a single filter to achieve the optimal estimation of attitude drift, gyro biases and ambiguities. In addition, a MEMS-Attitude-aided Quality-Control method (MAQC) for GNSS observations is designed to eliminate both the carrier multipath errors and half-cycle slips disturbing ambiguity resolution. Vehicle experiments show that in GNSS-friendly scenarios, the Ambiguity Resolution (AR) success rate of the proposed model with MAQC can reach 100%, and the accuracy of attitudes are (0.12, 0.2, 0.2) degrees for heading, pitch and roll angles, respectively. Even in harsh scenarios, the AR success rate increases from about 67% for the GNSS only case to above 90% after coupling GNSS tightly with MEMS, and it is further improved to about 98% with MAQC. Meanwhile, the accuracy and continuity of attitude determination are effectively guaranteed.

Objective: Schizophrenia is thought to be a neurodevelopmental disorder. As a key regulator in the development of the central nervous system, transcription factor 4 (TCF4) has been shown to be involved in the pathogenesis of schizophrenia. The aim of our study was to assay the association of TCF4 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) with schizophrenia and the effect of these SNPs on phenotypic variability in schizophrenia in Southern Chinese Han Population.Methods: Four SNPs (rs9960767, rs2958182, rs4309482, and rs12966547) of TCF4 were genotyped in 1137 schizophrenic patients and 1035 controls in a Southern Chinese Han population using the improved multiplex ligation detection reaction (iMLDR) technique. For patients with schizophrenia, the severity of symptom phenotypes was analyzed by the five-factor model of the Positive and Negative Symptom Scale (PANSS). Cognitive function was assessed using the Brief Assessment of Cognition in Schizophrenia (BACS) scale.Results: The results showed that the genotypes and alleles of the three SNPs (rs2958182, rs4309482, and rs12966547) were not significantly different between the control group and the case group (all P > 0.05). rs9960767 could not be included in the statistics for the extremely low minor allele frequency. However, the genotypes of rs4309482 shown a potential risk in the positive symptoms (P = 0.04) and excitement symptoms (P = 0.04) of the five-factor model of PANSS, but not survived in multiple test correction. The same potential risk was shown in the rs12966547 in positive symptoms of the PANSS (P = 0.03).Conclusion: Our results failed to find the associations of SNPs (rs2958182, rs4309482, and rs12966547) in TCF4 with schizophrenia in Southern Chinese Han Population.

The automatic transfer switch (ATS) is a medium-voltage switchgear, which can improve the reliability and quality of the power supply. The mechanical switch is an important part of the ATS based on the LC resonance, and its breaking time directly affects the overall switching time of the ATS. In order to reduce the breaking time and improve the breaking performance, the optimal design of the mechanical switch is made. Firstly, the working principle of the ATS based on the LC resonance is introduced, the general technical scheme of the magnetically controlled mechanical switch is given, and then, two aspects of increasing the voltage of the driving power supply and the size of the discharge capacitance are considered to reduce the breaking time. Experimental results show that the breaking time of the magnetically controlled mechanical switch is significantly reduced from 15 down to 6.39 ms or so by optimising the design, and the breaking performance is effectively improved, which is conducive to the design of the ATS based on the LC resonance.

The SAP97 gene is located in the schizophrenia susceptibility locus 3q29, and it encodes the synaptic scaffolding protein that interacts with the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor, which is presumed to be dysregulated in schizophrenia. In this study, we genotyped a single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) (rs3915512) in the SAP97 gene in 1114 patients with schizophrenia and 1036 healthy-matched controls in a Han Chinese population through the improved multiplex ligation detection reaction (imLDR) technique. Then, we analyzed the association between this SNP and the patients' clinical symptoms and neurocognitive function. Our results showed that there were no significant differences in the genotype and allele frequencies between the patients and the controls for the rs3915512 polymorphism. However, patients with the rs3915512 polymorphism TT genotype had higher neurocognitive function scores (list learning scores, symbol coding scores, category instances scores and controlled oral word association test scores) than the subjects with the A allele (P = 4.72 × 10−5, 0.027, 0.027, 0.013, respectively). Our data are the first to suggest that the SAP97 rs3915512 polymorphism may affect neurocognitive function in patients with schizophrenia.

This paper aims to introduce a novel maximum power point tracking (MPPT) strategy called transfer reinforcement learning (TRL), associated with space decomposition for Photovoltaic (PV) systems under partial shading conditions (PSC). The space decomposition is used for constructing a hierarchical searching space of the control variable, thus the ability of the global search of TRL can be effectively increased. In order to satisfy a real-time MPPT with an ultra-short control cycle, the knowledge transfer is introduced to dramatically accelerate the searching speed of TRL through transferring the optimal knowledge matrices of the previous optimization tasks to a new optimization task. Four case studies are conducted to investigate the advantages of TRL compared with those of traditional incremental conductance (INC) and five other conventional meta-heuristic algorithms. The case studies include a start-up test, step change in solar irradiation with constant temperature, stepwise change in both temperature and solar irradiation, and a daily site profile of temperature and solar irradiation in Hong Kong.

Some key parameters of supports such as porosity, pore shape and size are of great importance for fabrication and performance of zeolite membranes. In this study, we fabricated millimetre-thick, self-standing electrospun ceramic nanofibre mats and employed them as a novel support for zeolite membranes. The nanofibre mats were prepared by electrospinning a halloysite nanotubes/polyvinyl pyrrolidone composite followed by a programmed sintering process. The interwoven nanofibre mats possess up to 80% porosity, narrow pore size distribution, low pore tortuosity and highly interconnected pore structure. Compared with the commercial α-Al2O3 supports prepared by powder compaction and sintering, the halloysite nanotube-based mats (HNMs) show higher flux, better adsorption of zeolite seeds, adhesion of zeolite membranes and lower Al leaching. Four types of zeolite membranes supported on HNMs have been successfully synthesized with either in situ crystallization or a secondary growth method, demonstrating good universality of HNMs for supporting zeolite membranes.

A facile total synthesis of three members of the bisabolane sesquiterpene family, namely (±)-curcumene, (±)-xanthorrhizol and (±)-curcuhydroquinone had been achieved in high overall yield. The synthesis used bromobenzene derivatives as starting materials. The halogen-lithium exchange followed by addition of isoprenylacetone and reduction of the obtained carbinols are the key steps of the synthetic pathway. This synthetic approach provides a new route to the bisabolane sesquiterpenes.
