Team teaching is a great strategy to convey systems thinking to students, families, and communities and to help learners gain multiple perspectives. Learners benefit from the professional interaction among skilled instructors. This article uses a program of land stewardship to demonstrate the advantages of team teaching. Both the advantages and challenges of team teaching are discussed.

Literature regarding fathers of children with autism remains sparse, and because mothers are the more common intervening parent, few training methods have focused on fathers. Thus, we sought to evaluate effects of in-home training directed at fathers and their ability to train mothers in the same manner in which they were trained. Fathers were taught four skills commonly associated with in-home training interventions for parents of children with autism: following the child's lead, imitation with animation, commenting on the child, and expectant waiting. Father skills were evaluated twice a week for 12 weeks during videotaped in-home father-child play sessions. Analyses included visual inspection of graphed data and statistical analyses of father skill acquisition, mother skill acquisition, and child behaviors with both parents. A multivariate repeated measures analysis of 18 dyads revealed significant increases in frequencies of fathers' imitation with animation, expectant waiting, and commenting on the child. Child initiating rates increased significantly as did frequencies of child non-speech vocalizations. Analysis of mothers revealed significant increases in frequencies of imitation with animation, expectant waiting, and following the child's lead. Child behaviors had similar results for father and mother sessions. Findings are consistent with those from our first study indicating that fathers can effectively implement skills that promote father-child social interactions and that children respond positively to this approach. A study was conducted on the influence of upward evaporative water flux on napropamide photolysis rates in soils. Sorption and retardation effects on transport and photolysis were also examined. Transport rates were found to be affected by sorption, with measured values of the distribution coefficient Kd of 0.4-0.72 in loamy sand and 6.6-7.2 mL/g in sandy clay loam soils.

Studies of the effects of grazing intensity on rangeland vegetation, soil, and water have used mechanical devices to simulate animal trampling. Such studies are often performed at plot scale to allow adequate replication and avoid variability that confounds studies performed at large uncontrolled scales. However, previously applied hoof impact simulators have not been capable of applying reproducible impulse forces on soil. To be useful, simulators must exert a repeatable force, and meet the physical criteria of being lights, eight and easily moved between plots. We designed, constructed, and tested a mechanical trampling device that simulated impulse forces from animal hoof impacts with accuracy and precision. Over 3000 individual impacts on soil pints were used to test the device. Hoof impressions on freshly raked loam soil compared well with those from a shod horse. Although tested on plots and in the field with a shod horse hoof replica, it could be easily altered to simulate other animals.
