Continuing education is treated in its broadest aspects, including both degree- and nondegree-oriented programs. The need for imaginative new mechanisms to accomplish a vast expansion of the scope of present efforts is now well recognized in the engineering community. The authors contend that while there is no universal solution to the general problem, the medium of television can be used in a variety of ways to make a major contribution. More specifically, television can effect a more intimate association between a university and its surrounding professional community to the mutual benefit of both. This paper first outlines some of the ingredients we consider vital to a successful continuing education system. Next we briefly describe the proposed Stanford University Instructional Television Network, which contains many key features not now incorporated in existing television education programs at other universities. Finally, we extrapolate beyond the Stanford system to future possibilities for extending even further the utilization of television in meeting the need.

This article describes a novel, large-scale instructional television system now in operation at Stanford University, under the auspices of the School of Engineering. The network brings the campus classroom and instructor to graduate students employed by participating organizations at inconvenient distances from the school, and talk-back capability is included to provide a live classroom situation. No detailed analysis of the system's benefits has yet been made but, after approximately a year of operation, all informal reaction has been favorable.

CONDYLOMA ACUMINATA of the vulva and periurethral regions are uncommon in children. 1 In general this condition tends to be misdiagnosed. Definitive diagnosis is dependent on biopsy of the lesion. We wish to report three cases seen at the Columbus Children's Hospital. Report of Cases Case 1.— A 6-year-old white girl was admitted to the hospital in February 1949, with a three-month history of a small "growth" of the vulva and persistent greenish-yellow vaginal discharge. Results from the child's physical examination were normal except for several "pedunculated warty looking growths" about 0.5 cm in diameter located adjacent to the urethral meatus. Findings from a complete blood cell count (CBC), urinalysis, and vaginal culture were normal. A general anesthetic was given and the lesions were removed with electrocautery; the microscopic examination of the tissue revealed condyloma acuminata. The postoperative course was uncomplicated and the child was discharged on the fifth postoperative
