The present paper gives information about spring dolichopodids collected from April to June in Vitosha Mountain, Bulgaria. Twenty-five species were found, as thirteen are new for the studied area and one of them (Achalcus cinereus (Haliday in Walker, 1851)) is new to the fauna of Bulgaria and the Balkan Peninsula too.

The paper gives information about 41 dolichopodid species established in Vitosha Mountain. Twenty-one species are newly recorded for the studied area, and one of them, Thrypticus divisus, is new to the fauna of Bulgaria.

During the recent short-term survey conducted in the Sablinsky Natural Park, 14 species of Dolichopodidae (Diptera, Brachycera, Dolichopodidae) were collected. Sybistroma obscurella (Fallén, 1823) was found in Leningrad Oblast for the first time. Campsicnemus curvipes (Fallén, 1823), C. scambus (Fallén, 1823), Dolichopus pennatus Meigen, 1824, D. plumipes (Scopoli, 1763), Gymnopternus aerosus (Fallén, 1823), Sciapus platypterus (Fabricius, 1805) and Sympycnus pulicarius (Fallén, 1823) were recorded for the first time from the Sablinsky Natural Park. A checklist of species known from the Tosnensky District was compiled with updated nomenclature. It includes 26 genera and 128 species. The presence of Syntormon pumilus Meigen, 1824 in the Leningrad Oblast is confirmed. Syntormon denticulatus (Zetterstedt, 1843) is excluded from the regional fauna.

A new genus Plesiomedetera gen. nov., is described from Late Eocene Baltic amber. The genus is placed in the extant subfamily Medeterinae and includes five recognized and two doubtful species, all poorly described by Meunier in 1907–1908 and never reported again. Plesiomedetera flammea (Meunier, 1907), comb. nov. and P. mustela (Meunier, 1907), comb. nov. are described and illustrated, and a key to recognized species of this genus is compiled. The other eight extinct genera from Baltic amber are briefly reviewed, belonging to extant subfamilies ?Diaphorinae, Dolichopodinae, Medeterinae, Peloropeodinae and Sciapodinae, and a key to these genera is compiled. The following new combinations (comb. nov.) are proposed: Plesiomedetera decora (Meunier, 1907), P. elegantula (Meunier, 1907), P. vana (Meunier, 1907), P. lasciva (Meunier, 1907), P. lepida (Meunier, 1907), Medeterites atterraneus (Nazarov, 1994), M. gestuosus (Meunier, 1907), M. gulosus (Meunier, 1907), M. latipennis (Meunier, 1907), Palaeoargyra planipedia (Meunier, 1907), Palaeomedeterus praeconcinnus (Evenhuis, 1994), P. concinnus (Meunier, 1907), P. tertiarius (Meunier, 1907), Prohercostomus ciliatus (Meunier, 1907), P. devinctus (Meunier, 1907), P. gracilis (Meunier, 1907), P. minutus (Meunier, 1907), P. morbosus (Meunier, 1907), P. smicrus (Meuffels et Grootaert, 1999) and P. inumbratus (Meunier, 1907). Sciara pusilla Meunier, 1899 is considered nomen nudum, rather than unplaced species of Dolichopodidae. Dolichopus smicrus Meuffels et Grootaert, 1999 (unnecessary new name) is placed in synonymy with Prohercostomus minutus. Simple Summary: The genus Dolichopus is a natural enemy of insects. Some of the species are widely distributed, and have the potential to develop into natural insect enemies. Through investigations of the local genus Dolichopus in Inner Mongolia, more than 1600 adult long-legged flies were collected, with many of the samples belonging to the subfamily Dolichodinae. Three new Dolichopus species were discovered, and another twelve known species were recorded, including the newly discovered subgenus Hygroceleuthus, which tremendously enriched the diversity of Dolichopus in Inner Mongolia. To have a better understanding of insect diversity and the efficiency of specimen collection in Inner Mongolia, we determined the potential geographic distribution of the genus using a Maximum Entropy (MaxEnt) model. Eight species of Dolichopus Latreille were previously recorded in Inner Mongolia. However, there have been only a few studies on their potential distribution. Here, three newly discovered species from Inner Mongolia are described, namely Dolichopus (Dolichopus) apicimaculatus sp. nov., Dolichopus (Dolichopus) jiufengensis sp. nov., and Dolichopus (Dolichopus) luae sp. nov. There were also twelve known Dolichopus species that were newly recorded in Inner Mongolia, including the newly recorded subgenus Hygroceleuthus. A key to the Dolichopus species from Inner Mongolia and the potential geographic distribution of Dolichopus in Inner Mongolia were provided. Abstract Background The Dolichopodidae, commonly known as long-legged flies, are a cosmopolitan dipteran family in the superfamily Empidoidea. The adults and majority of larvae in this family are predaceous, feeding on small and soft-bodied invertebrates, and can be used as biological control agents. Nevertheless, only few old taxonomic studies on the Egyptian dolichopodids have been carried out. Results All dolichopodid taxa known to be represented in Egypt are cataloged in the present study. The classification of all species is updated, with synonyms, type localities, distributions and data of collection from Egypt being provided. Colored photographs of some species are also provided. Syntypes of eight species are preserved in the collection of Efflatoun Bey, Cairo University, Egypt (EFC), namely Asyndetus albifacies Parent, 1929; A. albifrons Parent, 1929; Argyrochlamys cavicola (Parent, 1929); Aphrosylus parcearmatus Parent, 1925; Thinophilus atritarsis Parent, 1929; T. maculatus Parent, 1929; T. spinulosus Parent, 1929 and T. tinctus Parent, 1929. Lectotypes are designated from these syntypes in the present work. Conclusion Sixty-six species in 21 genera and 8 subfamilies are known to be represented from Egypt and cataloged in the present study. One of these species, Tachytrechus notatus (Stannius, 1831), is recorded herein for the first time. Lectotypes are designated for eight species in the collection of Efflatoun Bey, Cairo University.

A new material for the dolichopodine genus Lichtwardtia Enderlein, 1912, which was collected from the Odisha state located in East India, has been recently identified. Lichtwardtia dentalis Zhang et al., 2009 and L. singaporensis Grootaert et Tang, 2018 are reported from India for the first time. Formerly doubtful species L. ziczac (Wiedemann, 1824) is described by a male. Environs of the Gop town in Odisha state are here suggested as type locality for this species, which is probably rare in nature. Incompletely described L. dentalis is redescribed, and L. singaporensis is diagnosed based on Indian material. A key for males of five Lichtwardtia species inhabiting India and Sri Lanka is compiled.

Syntormon pallipes is one of the cosmopolitan species in the family Dolichopodidae. It has an important role in agriculture and forest ecosystems. We studied the genetic diversity of 10 populations of this species using seven ISSR primers and found 269 polymorphic loci. The polymorphism rate ranged between 34.6% and 72.1%. A molecular variance analysis showed that the main source of genetic variation originates from within the populations. In addition, the genetic differentiation value (GST) was found to be low, with a value of 0.13. The gene flow level (Nm) is high with a value of 3.11 per generation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This contribution fills the Diptera biodiversity knowledge gap of two National Nature Reserves in the east of Slovakia. In total, 53 flies species from 24 families were confirmed in NNR Dreveník and NNR Sivá Brada. Among them tree new records of Dolichopodidae for the fauna of Slovakia: Campsicnemus magius (Loew, 1845), Chrysotus palustris Verrall, 1876, Ephydridae: Notiphila (Agrolimna) uliginosa Haliday, 1839) as well as four valuable species known only from few records from Slovakia Tachytrechus ocior Loew, Dixella obscura (Loew, 1849), Psilopa stackelbergi Nartshuk, 1970, Cnodacophora stylifera (Loew, 1870). As an additional new record Sybistroma discipes (Germar, 1817) (Dolichopodidae) is added from Levoča town, near Röhrgrund pond. The Chrysosoma lucigena species group is revised and comprises 13 species, all from New Guinea and immediately adjacent islands: C. lucigena (Walker) and C. splendidum (Wulp), and 11 newly described species: C. akrikense, C. baiyerense, C. betege, C. bitcoin, C. cuprevittatum, C. fumifemoratum, C. macalpinei, C. orokaindi, C. oromissim, C. tabubil, and C. watutense. The lucigena group comprises species with dark maculated wings, long setae on the femur and tibia of leg I, and metallic green and bronze thoracic coloration. The total loss of anterior dorsocentral setae in both sexes of the lucigena group is discussed in the context of a possible source for higher-level taxonomic characters in Diptera.

The New Zealand taxa of the superfamily Empidoidea (minus Dolichopodidae) are briefly summarized. Two species, Hilara ranui n. sp. and Hilarempis motumaka n. sp. (Diptera: Empididae: Empidinae), from the Auckland Islands of New Zealand, where they appear to be common, are described. Both species show a homoplastic loss or reversal of the swollen, silk-producing, fore basitarsi characteristic of males in their respective genera. In this study, we report the Turkey fauna of long-legged flies and new records of six species (Diptera: Dolichopodidae) collected from Muğla province during the 2018-2019 field trips. These newly recorded species are Acropsilus niger (Loew, 1869), Hercostomus kravchenkoi (Grichanov and Freidberg, 2018), Sybistroma leptocerca (Stackelberg, 1949), Oncopygius magnificus (Loew, 1873), Medetera glaucella (Kowarz, 1877), and Syntormon submonilis (Negrobov, 1975). In total, 107 species from 10 subfamilies and 35 genera of Dolichopodidae are known from Muğla. With these records, the number of the Turkey Dolichopodidae species has reached 224. Second addition to the Afrotropical Dolichopodoidae (Diptera) Catalog (2018) and its supplement (2020) includes new species, new synonyms and new records published mainly in 2021–2022 and in few papers published earlier or later. A new species Syntormon drakei Grichanov, sp. nov. is described from Kenya, based on earlier misidentification. The list contains addition of 36 species, and exclusion of five names placed in synonymy and two non- Afrotropical species (Pseudohercostomus echinatus, Syntormon fuscipes), resulting in a new total of 844 (including 14 doubtful) dolichopodoid species and subspecies in the Afrotropical fauna.

The genus Hypocharassus Mik, 1879 has only been recorded in the Nearctic and Oriental regions and, to date, it contains four known species.Hypocharassus cavitarsus sp. n. is described from Korea. This is the first record of this genus in the Palearctic Region. A description of the new species and a key to the Hypocharassus species are presented herein.

A total of 171 species of the family Dolichopodidae (Diptera) belonging to 29 genera are presented from Iran, of which three genera (Arabshamshevia, Emiratomyia and Micromorphus) as well as seventeen species are newly recorded from the country: Arabshamshevia ajbanensis, Asyndetus albifacies, A. separatus, A. transversalis, Campsicnemus pilitarsis, C. simplicissimus, Dolichopus calinotus, D. diadema, D. efflatouni, D. zernyi, Emiratomyia arabica, Hercostomus kravchenkoi, Medetera mixta, M. spinigera, M. veles, Micromorphus mesasiaticus and M. minusculus. Considering that this number of species makes up less than 50% of actual Dolichopodidae fauna in the country, it is supposed that the total number of Iranian species can be raised to 400 or 500 species. The species Syntormon filiger is given here as the first reliable record from Iran, and Medetera micacea is excluded from the list of Iranian Dolichopodidae. The following recombinations are proposed for Chinese species: Campsicnemus flaviantenna (Tang, Wang et Yang, 2015), comb. nov.; Campsicnemus longipilosus (Tang, Wang et Yang, 2015), comb. nov. The photographs of the habitus of newly discovered species as well as some of their diagnostic characters and habitats are presented.

New material of Dolichopodidae has been recently collected in the Khingan Nature Reserve, Amurskaya Oblast, which includes 14 species (all species are new for the Reserve). In total, 86 species are reported in this Region, which apparently make up 45–50% of actual Dolichopodidae regional fauna. Amblypsilopus aff. bouvieri (Parent, 1927), Chrysotimus spinuliferus Negrobov, 1978, Gymnopternus pseudoceler (Stackelberg, 1933), Poecilobothrus flaveolus (Negrobov et Chalaya, 1987) and Sympycnus changaicus Negrobov, 1973are recorded from Priamurye for the first time. This paper also provides the distribution pattern for each collected species. A check-list of Dolichopodidae species known from Amurskaya Oblast is provided.

The paper presents information about 35 dolichopodid flies collected from 12 localities in the Balkan Mountains at the territory of Bulgaria. Two species, Campsicnemus pusillus and Sciapus maritimus, are recorded for the first time in Bulgaria and on the Balkan Peninsula. Another nine ones are listed for the first time to the Balkan Mountains range.

The paper presents information about 37 dolichopodid species, collected from 14 localities in Bulgaria. Five species (Medetera murina, Systenus scholtzi, Neurigona nubifera, Rhaphium antennatum and Sciapus bellus) are recorded for the first time for the fauna of Bulgaria. The species S. scholtzi is new to the Balkan Peninsula and the genus Systenus is a new genus of the family Dolichopodidae for the Bulgarian fauna.

Faunistic data is given for 83 species of Dolichopodidae from Turkey. The following genera are recorded for the first time in Turkey: Achalcus Loew, 1857, Cyrturella Collin, 1952, and Trigonocera Becker, 1902; 21 species are recorded for the first time in Turkey: Achalcus flavicollis (Meigen, 1824), Aphrosylus venator Loew, 1857, Asyndetus separatus (Becker, 1902), Chrysotus larachensis Grichanov, Nourti et Kettani, 2020, Cyrturella albosetosa (Strobl, 1909), Hydrophorus bipunctatus (Lehmann, 1822), Lamprochromus bifasciatus (Macquart, 1827), Lamprochromus kowarzi Negrobov et Tshalaja, 1988, Medetera petrophiloides Parent, 1925, M. signaticornis Loew, 1957, Orthoceratium sabulosum (Becker, 1907), Rhaphium antennatum (Carlier, 1835), Sciapus bellus (Loew, 1873), S. euchromus (Loew, 1857), S. longulus (Fallén, 1823), S. tenuinervis (Loew, 1857), Syntormon triangulipes Becker, 1902, Teuchophorus calcaratus (Macquart, 1828), Thinophilus quadrimaculatus Becker, 1902, Trigonocera rivosa Becker, 1902, Xanthochlorus silaceus Chandler et Negrobov, 2008.

A new material of Dolichopodidae has been recently collected and identified, and includes 72 species (39 species are new for the Republic of Mordovia, 60 species have been found for the first time in the Mordovian Nature Reserve and its environs, and one species is new for the Smolny National Park). In total, 98 species are recorded in this region that apparently makes up 40–50% of actual Dolichopodidae fauna in the Republic of Mordovia. This paper provides also distribution pattern for each collected species. The list of species found in the Mordovian Nature Reserve has increased from 11 to 71.

The results of long-term studies of the dolichopodid fauna of Belarus are presented in the form of an annotated list of species for the first time. In addition, new and old material of Dolichopodidae from Belorussian and Russian collections is included. Twelve species are recorded from the country for the first time. In total, 106 species from 22 genera of long-legged flies are listed, which apparently makes up less than 50% of actual Dolichopodidae fauna of the Republic. Argyra striaticollis Becker, 1918 is known from a single male holotype described from the environs of Minsk.

New and old material of Dolichopodidae from Yakutia and Far Eastern regions of Russia has been recently identified, and includes 69 species. Amblypsilopus bouvieri (Parent, 1927) and Dolichopus bayaticus Negrobov, 1976 are found in Russia for the first time. Dolichopus uralensis Stackelberg, 1930 is recorded in the Far East, being probably the second reliable finding after description. Dolichopus hilaris Loew, 1862, Neurigona grossa Negrobov, 1987 and Poecilobothrus flaveolus (Negrobov et Chalaya, 1987) are new for the Kurile Islands. Six species are firstly recorded from the Amur Region, four from the Khabarovsky Territory, four from the Kamchatka Territory, two from Yakutia, one from Chukotka and one from the Jewish Region. This paper provides also distribution pattern for each collected species.

The present paper gives information about 61 dolichopodid species distributed in the Balkan Mountains, Bulgaria and Serbia. Twenty-two species, collected from 13 localities, are new to the Balkan Mountains and seven of them (Dolichopus longicornis, Hercostomus chetifer, Medetera pallipes, M. muralis, Neurigona quadrifasciata, N. pallida and Sciapus costea) are new to the fauna of Bulgaria. Medetera pallipes and Sciapus costea are also new to the Balkan Peninsula. Thus, the total number of known species of the family Dolichopodidae for Bulgaria increases to 204.

The paper gives information for 17 dolichopodid species collected from the park of the Forest Research Institute, Sofia. Two species (Lamprochromus kowarzi and Syntormon pseudospicatum) are recorded as new for the fauna of Bulgaria. Habitat preferences of the identified species are discussed. Two species dominate the study area: Hercostomus nanus dominates from early June to mid-July and then Sybistroma obscurellus dominates from mid-July to the second half of October.

On 08 January 2021, Oleg P. Negrobov, Dr.Sc., Professor of the Department of Zoology and Parasitology of the Voronezh State University (Russia), Honoured Worker of the Higher School of the Russian Federation, passed away at the age of 80. In 1959, O.P. Negrobov graduated from the Voronezh State University, and in 1967 he completed a postgraduate course at the Zoological Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences. In 1968, O.P. Negrobov defended his PhD Thesis «Palearctic species of the Medeterinae subfamily (Dolichopodidae, Diptera) – entomophages of hidden-stem pests», and in 1983 he defended his Dr.Sc. Thesis «System and phylogeny of the family Dolichopodidae (Diptera)». In 1967–2021, Oleg P. Negrobov worked at the Voronezh State University, where, during many years, he headed the Department of Ecology and Systematics of Invertebrates. Until the last days of his life, Professor Oleg P. Negrobov was one of the world's leading and actively working specialists in long-legged flies (Diptera: Dolichopodidae). His main scientific publications are devoted exactly to this group of Diptera insects. In total, O.P. Negrobov published more than 1000 papers on various issues in entomology and ecology. But Dolichopodidae flies were his main research object. Every year Oleg P. Negrobov published a large number of studies on the systematics of the Dolichopodidae family. He described new species and genera, and carried out their systematic revisions. For the first time, he described more than 400 species, genera and subfamilies within the order Diptera from various countries of Europe, Asia and Africa. Together with his students, he studied the morphological, biological and ecological features of long-legged flies. Professor Oleg P. Negrobov supervised a large number of scientific projects and trained many students. Under his leadership, a large number of graduate students defended their PhD Dr.Sc. theses. Professor O.P. Negrobov received a huge number of various awards, certificates and letters of thanks. In memory of his colleagues and students, Oleg P. Negrobov was remembered for his calmness and passion for his favourite work – entomology. Students raised by Professor Oleg P. Negrobov will continue the research work of their teacher, and will keep a bright memory of him for future generations of entomologists. This article provides biographical data and a list of some of the most significant works and achievements of Oleg P. Negrobov.

The long-legged fly Lichtwardtia dentalis Zhang, Masunaga et Yang, 2009 belongs to the subfamily Dolichopodinae of Dolichopodidae. The newly sequenced mitogenome of L. dentalis is a new representative of the subfamily. The nearly complete mitogenome is 15,124 bp in length, consisting of 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 2 ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs), and 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs). All genes have similar locations and encoding directions with that of other published mitogenomes of Dolichopodidae. The nucleotide composition biases toward A and T with the overall A + T % is 73.9%. All protein-coding genes initiate with standard start codon ATN except COI and NAD1, and TAA/TAG are conventionally used as stop codons. All tRNAs, ranging from 62 to 71 bp, have a clover-leaf structure. Based on the result of the phylogenetic analysis, Dolichopodidae and Empididae were monophyletic, and the relationships among subfamilies of Dolichopodidae were Diaphorinae + (Peloropeodinae + (Xanthochlorinae + (Medeterinae + Dolichopodinae))). The monophyly of the subfamily Dolichopodinae and the sister relationship between Dolichopus and Lichtwardtia were also strongly supported.

This study was carried out between 2009 and 2011 in the Inner West Anatolia region (Afyonkarahisar, Kütahya and Uşak). It was determined that the collected species belonged to eight subfamilies, 21 genera and 54 species. Neurigona suturalis is a new record for Turkey and the other 53 species are new records for the Inner West Anatolia.

The results of long-term studies of the dolichopodid fauna of Sakhalin Island by Russian authors are presented in the form of an annotated list of species for the first time. For this paper, originally published localities were checked, if they were referenced, and the exact locations of some collection points were established according to the museum collections. The latter material is included into the checklist. In addition, an unpublished material of Dolichopodidae is included. New records for 36 species, including 9 species new for the Sakhalin, are presented. Campsicnemus picticornis and C. scambus, Diaphorus nigricans, Dolichopus bisetulatus, Hydrophorus brunnicosus, Nepalomyia tatjanae, Rhaphium firsovi, R. tridactylum and Syntormon monochaetus are reported from Sakhalin for the first time. Sixteen species are excluded from the fauna of the island. In total, 72 species from 18 genera of long-legged flies are listed.

A collection of long-legged flies was studied in the Laboratory of Entomology of the Federal Research Centre for Biodiversity of Terrestrial Biota of East Asia, Vladivostok. A new material was identified for the first time, collected mainly by the researchers of this laboratory in the Primorsky Territory since 1970s, as well as by Igor Ya. Grichanov during his visit to Vladivostok in 2021. Unidentified material from some other scientific institutions is also included in the list. In total, new records are given for 73 species of long-legged flies. Hercostomus rohdendorfi Stackelberg, 1933 is transferred to the genus Gymnopternus (comb.n.). Mesorhaga janata Negrobov, 1984 is placed in synonymy with Amblypsilopus pilosus (Negrobov, 1979) (syn.n.). Dolichophorus immaculatus, Dolichopus henanus, D. kumazawai, Hercostomus beijingensis, Rhaphium dorsiseta, and R. mediocre are found for the first time in Russia. Chrysotus caerulescens, Hydrophorus albiceps, Rhaphium fascipes and Syntormon violovitshi are reported from Primorye for the first time. The finding of Dolichopus griseifacies is the first reliable record from Primorye. In total, 215 species from 31 genera of Dolichopodidae are known in the regional fauna.

Изучены морфологические и морфометрические признаки видового уровня тибиального органа самцов рода Dolichopus Latreille, 1796. На основании изученных признаков была изучена межвидовая изменчивость и выделены группы надвидового уровня.

We provide new data on the distribution of 14 long-legged fly species (Diptera, Brachycera, Dolichopodidae) belonging to 10 genera from the Fars Province, Southern Iran. The genera Diaphorus Meigen, 1824, Dolichopus Latreille, 1796, Hydrophorus Fallén, 1823, and Syntormon Loew, 1857 are recorded in the Fars Province for the first time. Dolichopus lairdi Olejnicek, Mohsen & Ouda, 1995 is newly added to the Iranian insect fauna. Four species, Asyndetus albifrons Loew, 1869, Asyndetus fallahzadehi Grichanov, 2019, Chrysotus suavis Loew, 1857, and Medetera pallipes (Zetterstedt, 1843) were the most abundant in the collected material. Available information on geographical distribution and short taxonomic comments for each species are also included.

A new material of Dolichopodidae has been recently collected in Bastak Nature Reserve, and includes 8 species (all species are found for the first time in the Reserve and in the Jewish Autonomous Region). In total, 20 species are reported in this region, which apparently makes up 20–25% of actual Dolichopodidae regional fauna. 11 species found in the Jewish Region are only reported in the East Palaearctic Region. Some of them are rare, known earlier only in Primorye (Dolichopus longisetus, Gymnopternus nemorum, Medetera stylata and Rhaphium nuortevai). This paper also provides a distribution pattern for each collected species.

Farmland habitats comprise an arrangement of cropped, uncropped and natural vegetation among the farms. Despite the differences in these habitats' features, generalist highly mobile predators are more likely to explore them in time and space.We investigated the spatiotemporal dynamics of the species of Dolichopodidae (Diptera) in organic vegetable farms because they are one of the most abundant generalist highly mobile predators in Brazilian agroecosystems.We simultaneously sampled the abundance of Condylostylus Bigot and Chrysotus Loew adults (both Dolichopodidae) in the crop, fallow areas, agroforests and forest fragments within five organic farms for 2 years.Predators preferred open‐field habitats to agroforests and forest fragments. Probably, open‐field habitats present more opportunities to prey foraging, resulting in higher population densities.To the extent that abiotic conditions become more restrictive during the dry season, agroforests and forests act as breeding sites and shelter, thereby maintaining the predators' populations in the overall farmland habitat.Both predatory genera occupy habitats with distinct features across time, forming a dynamic and contiguous population unit within the farm. Therefore, conservation biological control strategies in organic crops should consider the role of agroforests and forest fragments in species conservation beyond the plot level. The results of long-term studies of the dolichopodid fauna of Primorsky Territory (Primorye) by Soviet and Russian authors are presented in the form of an annotated list of species for the first time. For this paper, originally published localities were checked, if they were referenced, and the exact locations of some collection points were established according to the museum collections. The latter material is included into the checklist. In addition, a new material of Dolichopodidae is included, collected by Dr. O. Kosterin in 2020. Hydrophorus cinipunctus and Hydrophorus viridis are reported from Primorye for the first time. Findings of Dolichopus campestris, Hydrophorus freyi, Medetera stackelbergiana and Sciapus nervosus are the first reliable records from Primorye. In total, 204 species from 30 genera of long-legged flies are listed.

The cavities in trees (called dendrotelmata) in an urban environment stand at the periphery of researchers' attention. This paper presents new data on the occurrence of three Diptera species considered as endangered, namely Systenus leucurus Loew, 1859, S. tener Loew, 1859 (both Dolichopodidae), and Lepiseodina rothschildi (Eaton, 1912) (Psychodidae) from just such a specific urban ecosystem in Prešov. A new species, Thrypticus mongoliensis Negrobov, Selivanova et Maslova, sp. n. is described from Mongolia. According to the Palaearctic table of Negrobov, Stackelberg, published in 1971, the new species is close to the Thrypticus atomus Frey, differing in the form and chetotaxy of surstyli. Thrypticus atomus has straight surstyli, with 6 bristles and hairs at apex, while the new species has curved surstyli, more than 40 setae and hairs. On the morphology of the hypopygium, the new species is close to Thrypticus smaragdinus Gerstaecker, 1864, differing in the structure and chetotaxy of the surstyli, including curved and broadened at the base of the surstyli. Three species are listed for the fauna of Mongolia for the first time: Thrypticus intercedens Negrobov, 1967, Thrypticus emiliae Negrobov, 1971 in Negrobov et Stackelberg, 1971 and Thrypticus politus Negrobov, 1967. Thrypticus cuneatus (Becker, 1917) is recorded for the central part of the European part of Russia for the first time. Thrypticus bellus Loew, 1869 are indicated for the faunas of Karelia, Rostov and Lipetsk regions, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan for the first time. This paper provides new data on the distribution of 39 long-legged fly species (Diptera, Brachycera, Dolichopodidae) belonging to 19 genera from Morocco. Twelve species, Gymnopternus assimilis (Staeger, 1842), Hercostomus apollo (Loew, 1869), Hercostomus morenae (Strobl, 1899), Medetera media Parent, 1925, Medetera pallipes (Zetterstedt, 1843), Medetera petrophiloides Parent, 1925, Medetera aff. roghii Rampini et Canzoneri, 1979, Micromorphus minusculus Negrobov, 2000, Sciapus aff. negrobovi Naglis et Bartak, 2015, Campsicnemus simplicissimus Strobl, 1906, Sympycnus pulicarius (Fallén, 1823), and Syntormon pilitibia Grichanov, 2013 are newly added to the Moroccan insect fauna. In addition, available information on geographical distribution for each species is also included.

A comparative analysis was conducted on wing-vein landmarks on 81 species belonging to 27 genera of 11 subfamilies of the family Dolichopodidae for estimating relationships between wing shape and phylogeny. Wing shape was investigated by using the geometric morphometric technique. We used principal components analysis in order to description of wing shape variation among species and subfamilies. To estimate a degree of homoplasy wing shape variation were mapped onto the specific-level phylogenetic tree based on the COI gene (810 characters). Pagel’s lambda was used to quantify the phylogenetic signal in wing traits. The analyses demonstrated that the differences among subfamilies were generally associated with changes of R1 length, movement of posterior crossvein and tips of R4+5 and М1+2. The comparative analysis with outgroup taxon allowed for the determination of the evolutionary trends in the family and undertaking a character polarity of wing characters. The analysis revealed that wing shape and size have high phylogenetic signal. The result of our study demonstrated the monophyly of Dolichopodidae subfamily; however there was some degree of homoplasy: the species of the subfamilies, which were not closely relates (Hydrophorinae, Medeterinae and Sciapodinae) tend to have a similar wing shape. Приводится дифференциальный диагноз между Dolichopus subpennatus и Dolichopus pennatus. Морфология гипопигия Dolichopus pennatus и Dolichopus subpennatus изучена впервые. Выделяются новые признаки по строению вентральных метаэпистерн, метанотума и морфологии гипопигия. Форма 3-го членика усиков не может быть использована для различения видов, ввиду внутривидовой изменчивости. Приводятся данные по фауне Dolichopus pennatus и Dolichopus subpennatus. Dolichopus pennatus впервые указывается Архангельской и Свердловской областей. Dolichopus subpennatus впервые указывается для Литвы, Молдавии, Украины, Ленинградской, Воронежской, Курской и Пермской областей РФ, а также для Алтая.
