Preparing nursing students to be effective community practitioners has presented challenges to providers of undergraduate and pre-registration nursing programmes. However, an innovative community placement for final-year students has made the transition from student to newly qualified community nurse less stressful and ensured that staff are fit for purpose. Solvent plays an important role in many chemical reactions. The C-H activation has been one of the most powerful tools in organic synthesis. These reactions are often assisted by solvents which not only provide a medium for the chemical reactions but also facilitate reaching to the product stage. The solvent helps the reaction profile both chemically and energetically to reach the targeted product. Organic transformations via C-H activation from the solvent assistance perspective has been discussed in this review. Various solvents such as tetrahydrofuran (THF), MeCN, dichloromethane (DCM), dimethoxyethane (DME), 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCE), dimethylformamide (DMF), dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO), isopropyl nitrile ( i PrCN), 1,4-dioxane, AcOH, trifluoroacetic acid (TFA), Ac 2 O, PhCF 3 , chloroform (CHCl 3 ), H 2 O, N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP), acetone, methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), toluene, p-xylene, alcohols, MeOH, 1,1,1-trifluoroethanol (TFE), 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP), tert-amyl alcohol and their roles are discussed. The exclusive role of the solvent in various transformations has been deliberated by highlighting the substrate scope, along with the proposed mechanisms. The present study was carried out to evaluate the performance of native plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) on jhum paddy yield enhancement in Nagaland, Northeast India. Three indigenous PGPR isolates ( Bacillus cereus MKGB, Pseudomonas fluorescens MKGPf, and Azospirillum oryzae MKGAz) were tested in the soil microcosm and jhum fields of Longkhum and Ungma villages in Mokokchung, Nagaland. The maximum 78.44% seed germination, 165 cm plant height, 30 leaves, 5 tillers, and 5 panicles per plant were recorded in the PGPR consortium inoculated pot soil. Similarly, maximum 151 grains per panicle, 21.66 g grain yield per plant, and 33.50 g of straw biomass were recorded in the same treatment. The observations from the field trials revealed a maximum of 4.67 t ha -1 paddy yield in the Longkhum village jhum field inoculated with the PGPR consortium which was significantly different from the control (T1) at a p value of ≤0.05%. Similarly 4.74 t ha -1 paddy yield was obtained from the PGPR consortium applied jhum plots in Ungma village. The PGPR consortium was found more effective and promising than the single culture inoculation in paddy yield enhancement. Background: In recent times, single-sitting root canal therapy has gained momentum over multiple-sitting root canal therapy due to its superior clinical outcome and less time required for treating the patient. Aim: Thus, the aim of current study was to compare the expression of interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) in the serum of patients undergoing single-sitting and multiple-sitting root canal treatment., Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional experimental study was conducted on 300 subjects who were indicated for root canal treatment. Subjects were categorized into Group I (single visit) and Group II (multiple visits).Clinical data was obtained and serum samples were collected both before and after 1 week of treatment completion. Inclusion criteria were those patients (a) over 18 years of age, (b) without any disease of inflammatory etiology, and (c) who had not previously received endodontic treatment or any related therapeutic treatment. Exclusion criteria were those (a) without a complete clinical history, (b) with greater than one indicated tooth, (c) who did not complete their treatment, and (d) with any periodontal disease. Chi-square and Student's t -test were applied., Results: It was found that in single-sitting root canal treatment, there was a statistically significant reduction in these inflammatory biomarkers, although no difference in clinical efficacy was observed., Conclusion: Single-visit root canal treatment is a better option for treatment of pulpitis compared to multiple-sitting treatment., Competing Interests: There are no conflicts of interest., (Copyright: © 2022 Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care.)

Aims and Objectives: 1. To evaluate whether CT helps in the early diagnosis of pulmonary manifestations in SLE. 2. To study the pulmonary involvement and determine the incidence and type of pulmonary involvement., Materials and Methods: Thirty eight patients fulfilling ACR classification criteria for SLE were studied. Chest X-ray, pulmonary function tests (PFT), HRCT scan thorax were done. Investigations were done to detect other organ involvement. Patients with known interstitial lung disease (occupational hazard) or pregnant females were excluded., Results: Clinical signs and symptoms referable to pulmonary involvement were present in 9 patients (23.68%). HRCT thorax detected abnormalities in 21 patients (55.26%); pulmonary function abnormalities were present in 11 patients (28.95%) and plain X-ray chest abnormalities were present in 7 patients (18.42%). Out of 38 patients pulmonary involvement was present in 22 (57.89%) cases and HRCT thorax findings were present in 21 (95.45%) of them., Conclusion: Pulmonary involvement is present in a significant number of SLE patients, who are often asymptomatic, with normal chest X-ray or normal PFT. HRCT scan thorax could diagnose the pulmonary involvement in asymptomatic patients with normal chest X-ray and uncertain PFT.

In response to its specific recruitment needs, Walsall teaching primary care trust has implemented a new final placement programme for community nursing students that focuses on providing students with hands-on experience in the community setting. This article presents the results of an evaluation of the programme. Outcomes of the programme are discussed and analysis is drawn from all key participants. This has been the first stage of a career pathway for 80% of these students, who are now successfully employed as community staff nurses within the PCT.

Elephantiasis Nostras Verrucosa (ENV) is a rare form of pretibial myxedema, which is nearly always associated with Graves' disease. A case is presented here of Graves' disease who had elephantiasis variety of pre-tibial myxedema (PTM).

Sudden onset symmetric peripheral gangrene (SPG) is a relatively uncommon clinical entity manifested by distal ischemic damage at two or more sites in the absence of large vessel obstruction. Here we report a case of complicated falciparum malaria with rapid onset SPG involving all the toes.

Sweat gland tumours are very rare. They lack distinctive clinical features and the histological appearences are often varied. Hence, diagnosis is difficult and usually late. We report a case of sweat gland adenocarcinoma with bony and lymphnode metastases, and possibly secondary involvement of 7th cranial nerve. This is probably the first case in Indian literature.
