Urbanization process in Bahçelievler district started with the intense immigration that Istanbul received in the 1950s. Before this date, the area consisted of Yenibosna and Kocasinan villages and surrounding farms for many years and was included in the rural areas of Istanbul and Bakırköy. With the migration from the countryside that started in the 1950s, Istanbul grew rapidly and Bahçelievler became an important part of the city. The state road D.100 (E-5) passing through the south of Bahçelievler and the factories built around it were the most important factor affecting the growth of the settlement. As a result of migration, the old villages in the research area grew unplanned towards the southern highway and merged with the settlements that started to form on the highway. Apart from this, the area corresponding to Bahçelievler Neighborhood was urbanized in line with the plan designed by Henri Prost. Thus, both unplanned and planned urbanization is observed in the research area. Structural differences of urbanization activities taking place in different areas of Bahçelievler, forms the basis of current urban problems. Compared to the part where unplanned urbanization is seen due to migration, the infrastructure problems in the district are minimal in Bahçelievler Neighborhood, which develops according to Prost’s plan. The district is also located in the first-degree earthquake zone. Urban transformation activities, accelerated by earthquake risk, are not fully implemented in Bahçelievler. Although the demolition and reconstruction of old or weak buildings increases the number of earthquake-resistant buildings, it does not provide a solution to existing infrastructure problems. Urban problems in Bahçelievler will be solved when urban transformation activities are implemented in a wide area. This study explores the impact of corporate governance on firms' environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance, with a focus on board characteristics and ownership structures. Using a panel dataset of 6 financial and 16 non-financial firms listed on the Borsa Istanbul (BIST) from 2013 to 2021, the study investigates how ownership (blockholder, foreign, or institutional) and board composition (size, gender diversity, and foreign directors) influence ESG disclosures. The analysis distinguishes between financial and non-financial firms, revealing that corporate governance mechanisms affect ESG performance differently across sectors. Foreign ownership and the presence of foreign and female board members are positively associated with higher ESG disclosures, while ownership concentration is negatively correlated with ESG performance. These findings suggest caution when comparing firms across sectors based solely on ESG disclosures, as governance factors influence outcomes differently in financial and non-financial contexts. This study provides a detailed analysis of effective corporate governance mechanisms in Türkiye, emphasizing the crucial roles of ownership structure and board composition in enhancing ESG transparency. The results offer valuable insights for regulators and investors, contributing to a nuanced understanding of how governance structures shape ESG performance in both financial and non-financial firms in Türkiye. Nuclear energy, renewable energy, and alternative energy sources are all crucial for sustainable green energy. However, the existing literature often needs to pay more attention to the role of nuclear energy in achieving sustainable development goals. This study analyzes the impact of green technological innovation, nuclear energy consumption, and trade openness on environmental quality in the US. The authors used the ARDL bounds to identify cointegration relationships, which is appropriate for this study's dataset as it works well with smaller samples. They also used the Toda–Yamamoto causality test to examine causal links. The ARDL cointegration results indicate a significant long-term relationship between CO 2 emissions, green technological innovation, nuclear energy consumption, and trade openness. Green technological innovation has a negative impact on CO 2 emissions. Higher nuclear energy consumption is associated with lower CO 2 emissions, while greater trade openness is associated with higher CO 2 emissions, although these effects are less certain. The results suggest promoting green technological innovation and nuclear energy can be effective strategies for reducing CO 2 emissions, while the impact of trade openness requires careful consideration due to its potential to increase emissions. This study aims to determine some of the determinations that affect the ability to work with information technology (artificial intelligence) in accountants in Indonesia. The determinations used in this study consist of gender, age (millennials), education level, years of service, and university origin. The number of final respondents that can be observed is 594. The statistical tool used to test the hypothesis is multiple regression. The results of this study found that age and education level had an influence on the AI ability of accountants in Indonesia. Millennial accountants are found to be more adaptable to changes in information technology and have better AI skills than senior accountants. This study investigates the role of energy imports in domestic production function in the case of 15 energy-importing countries for the period of 1995–2015. Apart from energy imports, renewable energy consumption, non-renewable energy consumption, capital, trade openness, and urbanization are included in the growth model. In doing so, long-run elasticity coefficients are estimated with the Dynamic Seemingly Unrelated Regressions (DSUR) model after determining the cointegration relationship between the variables. In addition, for robustness checks, Panel Correlated Standard Errors (PCSE) and Feasible Generalized Least Squares (FGLS) estimators are applied. Our results show that renewable energy consumption, non-renewable energy consumption, trade openness, and capital have a positive effect on economic growth. Energy imports negatively affect economic growth. The Dumitrescu-Hurlin causality analysis reveals a bidirectional causality relationship between renewable energy consumption, capital, trade openness, urbanization, and economic growth. A unidirectional causality relationship exists from economic growth to non-renewable energy consumption and energy imports. This analysis can be interpreted as having a negative impact on economic growth by putting pressure on the current account deficit due to energy imports. This work aims to examines the effect of Chinese outward foreign direct investment (CoFDI), renewable energy, and energy intensity on CO2 emissions in 46 Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) nations divided into: Panel A, consisting of 16 European countries, and Panel B, comprising 30 Asian and MENA countries. This analysis used data from 2005 to 2018, applying second-generation econometric techniques. The empirical outcomes, obtained using Driscoll–Kraay methods, confirmed the pollution halo effect in Panel A, suggesting that FDI flows in these countries are environmentally friendly. In contrast, the results indicated a positive impact of CoFDI on CO2e in Panel B, supporting the pollution haven hypothesis that FDI may add to pollution. In addition, the study found an inverted-U-shaped association between per capita income and CO2e, validating the environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis in both panels. The findings also revealed that energy intensity positively affects CO2e, whereas renewable energy has a significant negative effect in both panels, while the interaction terms of renewable and energy intensity are heterogenous in both panels. Based on these findings, the study recommends policy makers of these countries to attract clean FDI, particularly in renewable sectors, and shift from fossil fuel-based energy to renewable sources to control pollution by enacting energy-saving initiatives via lowering energy intensity. This study investigated the impact of natural resources, urbanization, biological capacity, and economic growth (EG) on the ecological footprint (EFP) in Turkey between 1970 and 2018. The Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) method was used to investigate the short- and long-term effects. The findings indicate that EG and biological capacity increase the EFP in both the short and long term. In addition to these results, the long-term results show that the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis is valid for Turkey and that urbanization has a negative impact on the EFP. The Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) applied to determine the relationship between the variables reveals that, in the short term, unilateral causalities exist from EG to the EFP, from urbanization to economic growth, and from biological capacity to EG. The long-term causality results show a bidirectional causality relationship between the EFP, urbanization and biological capacity. In light of these findings, important policy recommendations are provided for policymakers in Turkey to achieve sustainable growth and improve environmental quality. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Detection of the exchange and distribution of agricultural lands allows many projects and plans to be made and interpreted correctly, such as food safety, planning, and environmental risk analysis. From this point of study in the spatial changes and distribution of agricultural land in time across Turkey were examined. CORINE Land Cover (CLC) data was used to identify agricultural land and examine changes over time. As a result of the study, it was observed that agricultural lands increased slightly from 1990 to 2018, but this increase has not always been in the form of preserving existing agricultural lands and adding existing agricultural lands. While some areas have lost their agricultural land characteristics, some areas have become agricultural land. New agricultural areas are usually realized by the transformation of forests and semi-natural areas while the agricultural areas that disappear are provided from heterogeneous agricultural areas. The Central Anatolia region stands out in the distribution of agricultural areas by region. The region with the highest concentration of agricultural land in terms of both proportion and area is the Central Anatolia region. Also, the Central Anatolia region is the region with the most intensive Non-irrigated agriculture. The area where irrigated agriculture is proportionally most made is the southeast Anatolia region. According to province-based, the provinces with more than 40% of the provincial surface area are Kırıkkale, Kırşehir, Nevşehir, Aksaray in the Central Anatolia region, Gaziantep and Şanlıurfa in the Southeastern Anatolia region, Edirne and Tekirdağ in the Marmara region. The provinces of Artvin, Tunceli, Bingöl, and Hakkari are the provinces where the percentage of agricultural land is below 10%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
