Isolated dietary polyphenols are subjected to degradation under unfavorable conditions leading to the loss of their bioactivity. Microencapsulation has attained research interest for enhancing the stability, improved bioavailability of polyphenols, and targeted delivery. This review examines the effects of microencapsulation on health promotion compared to non-encapsulated polyphenol extracts as evidenced through in vitro, experimental animal, and human intervention studies. Most of the research confirms that microencapsulation enhances the extent of bioaccessibility and bioavailability of polyphenols. Also, encapsulated polyphenols have exhibited greater antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and antimicrobial effects than non-encapsulated polyphenols. Interestingly microparticles are not found to create any cytotoxicity. Nevertheless, a few studies demonstrate either low or similar health effects of encapsulated form to their unprocessed form. Future research should mainly focus on human trials to better understand the contribution of microencapsulation to human health. We investigated the effect of 0.6 MeV proton irradiation on the superconducting and normal-state properties of thin-film YBa 2 Cu 3 O 7 − δ superconductors. A thin-film YBCO superconductor (≈567 nm thick) was subject to a series of proton irradiations with a total fluence of 7.6 × 10 16   p / cm 2 . Upon irradiation, T c was drastically decreased from 89.3 K towards zero with a corresponding increase in the normal-state resistivity above T c . This increase in resistivity, which indicates an increase in defects inside the thin-film sample, can be converted to the dimensionless scattering rate. We found that the relation between T c and the dimensionless scattering rate obtained during proton irradiation approximates the generalized d-wave Abrikosov–Gor'kov theory better than the previous results obtained from electron irradiations. This is an unexpected result, since the electron irradiation is known to be most effective to suppress superconductivity over other heavier ion irradiations such as proton irradiation. In comparison with the previous irradiation studies, we found that the result can be explained by two facts. First, the dominant defects created by 0.6 MeV protons can be point-like when the implantation depth is much longer than the sample thickness. Mango (Mangifera indica L.) is a popular fruit grown in tropical and subtropical regions. Mango has a distinctive aroma, flavour, and nutritional properties. Annual global mango production is >50 million tonnes. Major producers of mango include India, Bangladesh, China, Mexico, Pakistan, Indonesia, Brazil, Thailand, and the Philippines, and it is shipped worldwide. Harvested mango fruit are highly perishable, with a short shelf life. Physiological disorders are among the major factors limiting their postharvest quality and shelf life, including when fruit need phytosanitary treatments, such as hot water treatment, vapour heat treatment, and irradiation. This review focuses on problematic physiological disorders of mango flesh, including physiology and biochemistry. It considers factors contributing to the development and/or exacerbation of internal disorders. Improved production practices, including pruning, nutrient application, and irrigation, along with monitoring and managing environmental conditions (viz., temperature, humidity, and vapour pressure deficit), can potentially maintain fruit robustness to better tolerate otherwise stressful postharvest operations. As demand for mangoes on international markets is compromised by internal quality, robust fruit is crucial to maintaining existing and gaining new domestic and export consumer markets. Considering mango quality, a dynamic system, a more holistic approach encompassing pre-, at-, and post-harvest conditions as a continuum is needed to determine fruit predisposition and subsequent management of internal disorders. The human gut is inhabited by approximately 100 trillion of microflora, and there exists a reciprocal relationship between human health and the gut microbiota. The major reasons for the dysbiosis in the population of gut microbiota are attributed to changes in lifestyle, medication, and the intake of junk foods. In addition, the proportion of beneficial bacteria in the intestine decreases gradually with age and causes physiological disturbances, malfunctions of the immune system, and several metabolic disorders. Thus, finding safe solutions to improve the diversity of microflora is a big challenge. With an increase in health consciousness among the population, the demand for healthy and nutraceutical food products is growing gradually. Recent research has proved that consumption of probiotics promotes gut health and prevents from several metabolic and other diseases. Hence, in this present review, we will discuss the various probiotic bacteria present in ethnic foods. The importance of these probiotics in the prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal, respiratory, cancer, and metabolic disorders will be elucidated. The study aimed to know the role of divorce in generating divorce and causing disorders and abnormal behaviors among a divorced family in the city of Irbid, Jordan. The study sample consisted of (12) males and females. The results of the study showed that there were statistically significant differences in the level of obsessive-compulsive disorder, hostility, and psychosis according to the gender variable and in favor of males and that abnormal disorders and behaviors were repeated in both genders, with females outperforming males in many of them. And that divorce generated 100% new divorce cases for females, a continuous family quarrel with the daughter-in-law of 100%, and 67% reluctance to marry for males. Providing children with complex communication needs (CCNs) with the right accommodations in a supportive schooling environment from the early childhood development (ECD) stage can significantly improve their developmental and educational outcomes. Inclusive education has been proposed as a possible framework that can promote positive educational outcomes; however, in South Africa, there has not been enough attention paid to inclusive education in ECD especially focusing on children with CCNs. The study therefore explored the perceptions of parents of children with CCNs and early childhood development teachers on inclusive education. Semi-structured interviews and a focus group were conducted with 8 ECD teachers and 8 parents of children with CCNs, who were purposively selected. Data were imported into NVivo 1.5 software and analysed using an inductive thematic analysis approach. Findings from the study revealed the following themes: i. Perceived benefits of inclusive education; ii. Preference for special needs education; iii. Shortcomings of special needs education in addressing the needs of learners with CCNs; iv. Factors informing school placement; v. Communication as a barrier to learning, teaching and socializing; vi. The need for disability conscientization. Although both parents and teachers of learners with CCNs acknowledge the value of inclusive education in facilitating access to education, they have a mistrust of inclusive education because of fear of stigma, discrimination, exclusion, bullying and exclusionary teaching practices. While they preferred special education, they acknowledged the gaps in teacher's knowledge on communication disorders, training of teachers, teaching aids and assistive devices. Introduction and Hypothesis: Pelvic floor disorders (PFDs) impact women worldwide and are assessed using instruments such as the Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory (PFDI-20) and Pelvic Floor Impact Questionnaire (PFIQ-7). There are no known valid PFD instruments in Uganda. This study's purpose was to translate and test the reliability and validity of the PFDI-20 and PFIQ-7 in Luganda. It was predicted that these instruments would be reliable and valid to assess the presence and impact of PFD in parous Luganda-speaking women. Methods: The translated PFDI-20 and PFIQ-7 were administered to parous Luganda-speaking women and readministered 4–8 months after. The Pelvic Organ Prolapse Quantification (POP-Q) examination determined the presence of pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and a cough-stress test (CST) measured urinary leakage. Analysis was completed using Cronbach's α co-efficient for internal consistency and Spearman's correlation coefficients and Wilcoxon rank sum tests for construct validity. Results: Of the 159 participants, 93 (58.3%) had stage II POP or higher. The PFDI-20 and PFIQ-7 demonstrated minimal bother and impact on activities of daily living respectively. The Urinary Distress Inventory 6 (UDI-6) scores on the PFDI-20 showed a strong positive association with the presence of urinary incontinence. When PFD was defined by responses to symptom assessment, the translated PFDI-20 and PFIQ-7 could differentiate between individuals with and without PFD. Conclusions: The UDI-6 section of the PFDI-20 was found to be valid in Luganda. The PFIQ-7 and the entirety of the PFDI-20 were not found to be reliable or valid, likely because of the low prevalence of PFDs in the study population. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The effects of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection persist months and years after recovery. We conducted an online survey to assess the health condition of convalescents approximately 5 months following the primary infection of SARS-CoV-2. The study recruited 5,510 individuals who were primary infected, 626 participants who had experienced reinfection, and 521 participants who were without infective history. The most common disorders after the primary infection group were fatigue (15.18 %), memory issue (13.13 %), post-exertional malaise (PEM, 11.68 %), and brain fog (11.29 %) at the time of survey. In addition, SARS-CoV-2 infection had an impact on the reproductive systems. In stepwise logistic regression analysis, smoking currently, with background diseases, and outpatient visits in the acute phase could be associated with moderate / severe disorders. Further analysis of different background diseases showed that allergic rhinitis, hyperlipidemia, cardiovascular disease, autoimmune diseases, neurological diseases, and asthma likely increased the risk of moderate/severe disorders. The probability of developing disorders of individuals with SARS-CoV-2 reinfection was higher before the secondary infection than uninfected people. Fatigue, PEM, muscle pain/spasms, chills, joint pain, excessive sweating at rest, headache / dizziness, sore throat or foreign body sensation in the throat, cough, expectoration, dry / painful / watery eyes, loss of appetite and constipation were associated with an increased risk of reinfection. It was essential to undertake further research with enhanced randomization in a larger sample in the community, and to strengthen the validation of the research conclusions. The findings of this study contribute to a deeper understanding of the health recovery process among coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) convalescents. Moreover, the findings help identify characteristic health risk factors associated with convalescents and highlight the risk of moderate / severe disorders and reinfection. Furthermore, the findings also provide valuable guidance and reference for SARS-CoV-2 rehabilitation strategies and the prevention of reinfection, offering insights for scientific recommendations.

This review explores the complex interaction between the gut microbiota and human health, with an emphasis on its effect on neurodegenerative illnesses. The makeup of the gut microbiome and its impact on brain function through the gut–brain axis is highlighted. Dysbiosis, characterized by changes in the gut microbiota's composition, has been linked to the development of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Huntington's, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. A Bidirectional communication between the stomach and the brain takes place via a variety of channels, including neurotransmitters and metabolites generated by gut bacteria. We investigate the processes through which dysbiosis causes neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, and neuronal damage, which drive disease development. Potential therapeutic approaches that focus on the gut microbiota, such as antibiotics, probiotics, prebiotics, and fecal microbiota transplantation, are reviewed, with promising preclinical and clinical findings. Overall, this study emphasizes the relevance of gut microbiota to neurodegenerative illnesses, as well as the need to understand and target the gut-brain axis for future treatment options. Colostrum, an invaluable food produced by mammals during the postnatal period, contains important bioactive components. It is a valuable therapeutic substance that can be used to treat a variety of disorders, in addition to its primary function of providing passive immunity to newborns. Undoubtedly, a strong dedication to intense effort and demanding training schedules is necessary to succeed in today's sports environment. Peak physical fitness, strategic skill development, and mental toughness are highly valued in the environments in which athletes compete. However, the inherent difficulties brought about by athletes' intense schedules are matched with the demanding character of modern sports. The intensity of athletic activity frequently provides little time for sufficient relaxation, nutritional preparation, and overall recovery, which can contribute to mental and physical tiredness. Athletes need to develop allencompassing strategies to overcome these obstacles. These strategies should prioritize self-care and recovery in addition to maximizing training efficiency. The bioactive components of colostrum bring forth various therapeutic effects against the challenges experienced by athletes; including diarrhea, upper respiratory tract infections, muscle injuries, intestinal disorders, etc. This review examined the different therapeutic effects of the bioactive components of colostrum on athletes, the effect of the use of colostrum as a whole on the performance of athletes, and the clinical research conducted in this field. A module has recently been developed within a mobile application (app) with the purpose of addressing dysfunctional beliefs associated with eating disorders (ED). The aim was to conduct a preliminary efficacy study by analyzing changes after use of the app in a general adult population. A quasi-experimental design was used in which 86 people completed a baseline assessment, and of them, 32 used the app daily for 3 minutes over a period of 15 days and completed the post-treatment assessment. Results before and after use of the app showed a decrease in mean scores for dysfunctional beliefs about perfectionism associated with physical appearance, vulnerability to weight gain, and the importance of thought control, as well as an increase in self-esteem. No significant reduction in eating symptomatology or depressive symptoms was observed. The results suggest that the app could be useful in reducing dysfunctional beliefs associated with ED. Hydrogen sulfide (H2S), previously regarded as a toxic exhaust and atmospheric pollutant, has emerged as the third gaseous signaling molecule following nitric oxide (NO) and carbon monoxide (CO). Recent research has revealed significant biological effects of H2S in a variety of systems, such as the nervous, cardiovascular, and digestive systems. Additionally, H2S has been found to impact reproductive system function and may have therapeutic implications for reproductive disorders. This paper explores the relationship between H2S and male reproductive disorders, specifically erectile dysfunction, prostate cancer, male infertility, and testicular damage. Additionally, it examines the impact of H2S regulation on the pathophysiology of the female reproductive system, including improvements in preterm birth, endometriosis, pre-eclampsia, fetal growth restriction, unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion, placental oxidative damage, embryo implantation, recovery of myometrium post-delivery, and ovulation. The study delves into the regulatory functions of H2S within the reproductive systems of both genders, including its impact on the NO/cGMP pathway, the activation of K+ channels, and the relaxation mechanism of the spongy smooth muscle through the ROCK pathway, aiming to broaden the scope of potential therapeutic strategies for treating reproductive system disorders in clinical settings. Objective: Sleep quality affects pregnant women's health and quality of life. The aims of the study were to investigate the prevalence of sleep disorders and the effect of sleep health education on sleep quality in pregnant women with sleep disorders. Methods: To examine the frequency of sleep disorders among pregnant women, a cross-sectional study was conducted with an initial enrollment of 370 participants. Subsequently, 162 pregnant women were recruited for a pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design study. The intervention group (n = 82) performed sleep health education for four weeks and the control group (n = 80) received standard care. Sleep quality was assessed with Pittsburgh Sleep Quality. Results: The prevalence of sleep disorder was 61.9 percent (CI 95% 56.85-66.69). It was determined that health education improved some sleep quality subscales including subjective sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep duration and habitual sleep efficiency, and sleep disturbances, daytime dysfunction, and global sleep quality. The difference was still significant after adjusting for the PSQI baseline (η2 =.311, P <.001). Conclusion: These findings provide evidence of a relatively high prevalence of sleep disorders in pregnancy. Therefore, screening for sleep disorders and providing supportive programs and models to improve sleep quality during pregnancy should be considered as part of prenatal care. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), a transcription factor responsible for cytoprotection, plays a crucial role in regulating the expression of numerous antioxidant genes, thereby reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels and safeguarding cells against oxidative stress. Extensive research has demonstrated the involvement of Nrf2 in various diseases, prompting the exploration of Nrf2 activation as a potential therapeutic approach for a variety of diseases. Consequently, there has been a surge of interest in investigating the Nrf2 signaling pathway and developing compounds that can modulate its activity. Isoliquiritigenin (ISL) (PubChem CID:638278) exhibits a diverse range of pharmacological activities, including antioxidant, anticancer, and anti-tumor properties. Notably, its robust antioxidant activity has garnered significant attention. Furthermore, ISL has been found to possess therapeutic effects on various diseases, such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, kidney diseases, and cancer, through the activation of the Nrf2 pathway. This review aims to evaluate the potential of ISL in modulating the Nrf2 signaling pathway and summarize the role of ISL in diverse diseases prevention and treatment through modulating the Nrf2 signaling pathway.

The COVID-19 outbreak has garnered significant global attention due to its impact on human health. Despite its relatively low fatality rate, the virus affects multiple organ systems, resulting in various symptoms such as palpitations, headaches, muscle pain, and hearing loss among COVID-19 patients and those recovering from the disease. These symptoms impose a substantial physical, psychological, and social burden on affected individuals. On February 15, 2020, the Chinese government advised incorporating antimalarial drugs into the guidelines issued by the National Health Commission of China for preventing, diagnosing, and treating COVID-19 pneumonia. We examine the adverse effects of Chloroquine (CQ) in treating COVID-19 complications to understand why it is no longer the primary treatment for the disease.

Background. The article discusses a study of the effectiveness of psychological training “Stress Management” for pilots. The training is aimed at preventing (reducing) the negative conse-quences of professional stress as well as at preparing them for actions in high-risk conditions. The fundamental feature of this approach, in comparison with traditional psychological inter-ventions and group psychotherapy, is its targeting specific people in specific organizations. It is a combination of educational, training, psychocorrectional, rehabilitation programs with ele-ments of organizational consulting and development (Mendelevich, 2003). A common feature is being aimed at optimizing and modifying individual personality traits, developing communica-tion potential, and providing psychocorrection of deep-seated personal qualities. Objective. The article focuses on increasing competence and improving the professionally im-portant qualities of pilots. Psychological training for self-regulation (autogenic training) in combination with means of psychophysiological or psychological influence is used in order to optimize the effectiveness of professional activity. Method. To achieve the set goals and to test the hypothesis, the following complementary re-search methods were used: observation, conversation, the method of expert assessments, meth-ods of traumatic stress psychodiagnostics by I.O. Koteneva “Traumatic Event Impact Rating Scale — IES-R; DSM-4; General health — GNQ-28; PTSD; Methodology for self-assessment of situational and personal anxiety (Ch. Spielberger — Yu.L. Khanin). Results. The effectiveness of psychological training for pilots’ stress management is deter-mined by the results and the choice of methods for measuring them in two groups of variables characterizing the socio-psychological impact: a) subjectively experienced changes in the inner world, and b) objectively recorded parameters characterizing changes in various modalities of a person’s inner world combined with the sustainability of changes after “Stress Management” psychological training. Conclusions. Pilots underwent psychological training “Stress Management” used as the main relaxation method in order to overcome post-traumatic stress disorder. The use of “Stress Man-agement” training to restore the mental health of pilots in extreme flight conditions during sim-ulator training under the influence of traumatic factors has shown its effectiveness.

A tuberculoma is a clinical sign of tuberculosis that combines tubercles into a solid mass and can resemble several forms of malignant tumors on imaging. They frequently develop in people whose original tuberculosis infection is not well controlled. The majority of the time, the diagnosis of cerebral tuberculoma is presumptive and is based on radiological findings, additional supportive TB evidence from other areas, and treatment response. However, despite adequate TB treatment and concomitant corticosteroid therapy, lesions may persist for many years, as the therapeutic response of tuberculomas is unpredictable. A 19-year-old male patient admitted to the hospital for medical treatment complained of abdominal pain, constipation, nausea and vomiting, generalized weakness, fever, and chills. According to the patient’s complaints, my patient has a history of tonic-clonic seizures dating back a month, as well as a history of typhoid fever and sickle cell disease AS pattern, both of which he had been receiving treatment at a civil hospital. At the time of admission, he had undergone a number of invasive and non-invasive investigations, including a CT brain plane and an MRI brain with contrast. Brain computed tomography (CT) revealed a persistent lacunar infarct in the left corona radiata. Acute infarct in the right corona radiata, abnormal meningeal enhancement on post-contrast with meningitis, multiple ring-enhancing lesions in the bilateral cerebral hemisphere, cerebellum, corpus callosum, and intracranial tuberculous granuloma are all revealed by MRI with contrast. left corona radiata chronic infarction.

Changes in subjective sensory sensitivity – reporting sensory stimuli as being atypically intense or weak – are a transdiagnostic symptom of several disorders. The present study documents for the first time the sensory sensitivity profile of fibromyalgia, taking a questionnaire measure that asks about different sensory modalities and both hyper- and hyposensitivity (the Glasgow Sensory Questionnaire, GSQ). The fibromyalgia group had higher overall scores on this measure. This was linked more strongly to sensory hypersensitivity and was pervasive across all senses that were surveyed. Although differences in hyposensitivity were found, these were sporadic (perhaps linked to the symptoms of fibromyalgia itself) and did not resemble the pattern documented for autism (e.g., self-stimulating and repetitive behaviours were not a feature of fibromyalgia). We suggest that individual differences in subjective sensory hypersensitivity may be a multisensory dispositional trait linked to fibromyalgia which ultimately becomes most pronounced for pain. Marine fish tend to accumulate heavy metals (HM) in various body parts, which biomagnifies in the food chain. Consumption of fish with elevated HM levels by fish-eating population, is likely to express HM toxicity disorders in human beings. Therefore, it is imperative to study HM concentrations in marine waters and in various parts of fishes from the landing areas. In the present study, HM concentrations in marine waters and various organs of selected indicator fish and shrimp species from the four landing centers of Ratnagiri district, Maharashtra are studied in comparison with the standards given by various global agencies. The indicator species of fish and shrimps selected in this study can only throw light on the concerns about the possibility of HM toxicity to the population. The indicator species are selected from inshore waters as it is the breeding ground for these species which receives run-off from industrial waste, agricultural operations and other anthropogenic activities such as tourism as well as from the maintenance of the many fishing vessels, hence highly polluted as compared to offshore water. HM concentrations in water and fish organs are estimated using AAS. Four non-essential HM viz. Pb, Cd, Ni and Cr are studied. Ni and Cr are found to be 'below detectable level (BDL)' in the water samples of all the four landing zones. Cd is reported to be below detectable level at Mirkarwada, whereas Pb is found to be higher at Mirkarwada and Dabhol. For all other centers both Cd and Pb have shown total HM accumulation in various body parts well within the limits, outlined by various global agencies. Objective: To retrospectively evaluate the distribution of ABO and RhD blood groups and their relationship with diseases. Methods: The retrospective study was carried out in Bursa Uludag University Family Health Center in Turkey between 1-28 February, 2023. The data of individuals who were registered with the Family Health Center and whose blood types were known were evaluated retrospectively. Blood group type, sociodemographic findings, existing diseases, allergies, and genetic disease conditions were obtained. P-values below 0.05 were considered statistically significant. Analysis were made in the SPSS 25.0 program. Results: A total of 3834 people, 1935 male (50.5%) and 1899 female (49.5%) participated in the study. The mean age of the individuals was 26.45±10.45 years. About 75.8 percent of the participants were university students, 6.3 percent were health workers, and 17.9 percent were from other occupational groups. The rates of blood groups were determined as O Rh D+ at 33.5%, AB Rh D+ at 26.9%, A Rh D+ at 14.9%, AB Rh D- at 7.7%, B Rh D+ at 7%, O Rh D- at 4.6%, B Rh D- at 3.2% and A Rh D- at 2.2%. It was determined that the O Rh D- group had a higher rate of genetic disease than the other groups (p=0.01). Conclusion: It was determined that the O Rh D+ blood group was found more frequently in our region's population than in other groups. This different result depending on the A Rh D+ blood group, which is the most common throughout the country may have reflected the influence of different geographical regions and ethnic characteristics due to the students in our population. In addition, the results regarding the relationships between blood groups and occupation, genetics, existing disease, presence of allergies, and visual defects in the eye are important. Introduction. Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) represent pervasive developmental disorders of neurobiological origin, involving disruptions in communication and interaction, as well as restricted and repetitive interests and actions. According to the latest report published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention USA, 1 in 36 children is diagnosed with ASD. The aim of study is to estimate the prevalence of genetic disorders among children with ASD in order to enhance diagnosis and assistance for children with ASD. Materials and Methods. We employed an observational method of official studies, synthesizing and critically analyzing published articles (54 articles, 52 patients with ASD) from 2016-2024 on platforms such as PubMed, Medscape, NEJM, GeneCards, Lecturio, AMBOSS regarding ASD in children with genetic diseases. Results. The study included a group of 52 children with ASD examined during the medical genetics consultation at the Mother and Child Institute. Among them, 24 children had defects in genes or various genetic diseases associated with ASD, such as Rett syndrome, Fragile X syndrome, Angelman syndrome, tuberous sclerosis, Sotos syndrome, etc. Among the genetic mutations causing genetic disorders and ASD in children are genes responsible for transcription regulation (MECP2, MEF2C, FOXG1), cell growth (TSC1, TSC2, PTEN), synaptic channels (SCN2A), and synaptic structure (CASK, CDKL5, FMR1, SHANK3). Conclusions. ASD is encountered in children with genetic disorders. Awareness of genetic pathologies associated with ASD, will improve the assessment process for these children by specialists in genetics, neurology, and pediatrics working in pediatric medical institutions. Early clinical-genetic diagnosis of children with genetic diseases associated with ASD will enhance the psychoneurological development of these children. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Neurological and psychiatric diseases can lead to motor, language, emotional disorder, and cognitive, hearing or visual impairment By decoding the intention of the brain in real time, the Brain–computer interface (BCI) can first assist in the diagnosis of diseases, and can also compensate for its damaged function by directly interacting with the environment; In addition, provide output signals in various forms, such as actual motion, tactile or visual feedback, to assist in rehabilitation training; Further intervention in brain disorders is achieved by close‐looped neural modulation. In this article, we envision the future BCI digital prescription system for patients with different functional disorders and discuss the key contents in the prescription the brain signals, coding and decoding protocols and interaction paradigms, and assistive technology. Then, we discuss the details that need to be specially included in the digital prescription for different intervention technologies. The third part summarizes previous examples of intervention, focusing on how to select appropriate interaction paradigms for patients with different functional impairments. Introduction and purpose: The impact of electronic devices on our daily lives is becoming increasingly significant. The contemporary generation of young people is growing up in a world where smartphones, tablets, computers, and other electronic devices are widely available and utilized. Scientists are contemplating the challenges posed by excessive exploitation of electronics on the health of young individuals. The aim of the article is to present the harmful effects of using electronic devices before sleep in young people, considering medical aspects such as sleep disorders and their influence on overall psychophysical health. Summary: Electronic devices negatively affect the sleep of young people by reducing sleep time and delaying the sleep onset phase. The main problem is the use of electronic devices without time limits. In the era of technology, it is significantly important to raise awareness among young people about the importance of sleep hygiene and how blue light emitted by electronic devices affects its quality.

Colostrum, an invaluable food produced by mammals during the postnatal period, contains important bioactive components. It is a valuable therapeutic substance that can be used to treat a variety of disorders, in addition to its primary function of providing passive immunity to newborns. Undoubtedly, a strong dedication to intense effort and demanding training schedules is necessary to succeed in today’s sports environment. Peak physical fitness, strategic skill development, and mental toughness are highly valued in the environments in which athletes compete. However, the inherent difficulties brought about by athletes’ intense schedules are matched with the demanding character of modern sports. The intensity of athletic activity frequently provides little time for sufficient relaxation, nutritional preparation, and overall recovery, which can contribute to mental and physical tiredness. Athletes need to develop all-encompassing strategies to overcome these obstacles. These strategies should prioritize self-care and recovery in addition to maximizing training efficiency. The bioactive components of colostrum bring forth various therapeutic effects against the challenges experienced by athletes; including diarrhea, upper respiratory tract infections, muscle injuries, intestinal disorders, etc. This review examined the different therapeutic effects of the bioactive components of colostrum on athletes, the effect of the use of colostrum as a whole on the performance of athletes, and the clinical research conducted in this field. While the majority of studies report positive effects of colostrum, further research is needed.

BACKGROUND: There are few rigorous studies comparing quality of tuberculosis (TB) care in public versus private sectors. METHODS: We used standardised patients (SPs) to measure technical quality and patient experience in a sample of private and public facilities in Mumbai. RESULTS: SPs presented a classic, suspected TB scenario and a recurrence or drug-resistance scenario. In the private sector, SPs completed 643 interactions. In the public sector, 164 interactions. Outcomes included indicators of correct management, medication use and client experience. Public providers used microbiological testing (typically, microscopy) more frequently, in 123 of 164 (75%; 95% CI 68% to 81%) vs 223 of 644 interactions (35%; 95% CI 31% to 38%) in the private sector. Private providers were more likely to order chest X-rays, in 556 of 639 interactions (86%; 95% CI 84% to 89%). According to national TB guidelines, we found higher proportions of correct management in the public sector (75% vs 35%; (adjusted) difference 35 percentage points (pp); 95% CI 25 to 46). If X-rays were considered acceptable for the first case but drug-susceptibility testing was required for the second case, the private sector correctly managed a slightly higher proportion of interactions (67% vs 51%; adjusted difference 16 pp; 95% CI 7 to 25). Broad-spectrum antibiotics were used in 76% (95% CI 66% to 84%) of the interactions in public hospitals, and 61% (95% CI 58% to 65%) in private facilities. Costs in the private clinics averaged rupees INR 512 (95% CI 485 to 539); public facilities charged INR 10. Private providers spent more time with patients (4.4 min vs 2.4 min; adjusted difference 2.0 min; 95% CI 1.2 to 2.9) and asked a greater share of relevant questions (29% vs 43%; adjusted difference 13.7 pp; 95% CI 8.2 to 19.3). CONCLUSIONS: While the public providers did a better job of adhering to national TB guidelines (especially microbiological testing) and offered less expensive care, private sector providers did better on client experience.

BACKGROUND: Monkeypox (MPX) is an important human Orthopoxvirus infection. There has been an increase in MPX cases and outbreaks in endemic and non-endemic regions in recent decades. We appraised the availability, scope, quality and inclusivity of clinical management guidelines for MPX globally. METHODS: For this systematic review, we searched six databases from inception until 14 October 2021, augmented by a grey literature search until 17 May 2022. MPX guidelines providing treatment and supportive care recommendations were included, with no exclusions for language. Two reviewers assessed the guidelines. Quality was assessed using the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation II tool. RESULTS: Of 2026 records screened, 14 guidelines were included. Overall, most guidelines were of low-quality with a median score of 2 out of 7 (range: 1-7), lacked detail and covered a narrow range of topics. Most guidelines focused on adults, five (36%) provided some advice for children, three (21%) for pregnant women and three (21%) for people living with HIV. Treatment guidance was mostly limited to advice on antivirals; seven guidelines advised cidofovir (four specified for severe MPX only); 29% (4/14) tecovirimat, and 7% (1/14) brincidofovir. Only one guideline provided recommendations on supportive care and treatment of complications. All guidelines recommended vaccination as post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). Three guidelines advised on vaccinia immune globulin as PEP for severe cases in people with immunosuppression. CONCLUSION: Our results highlight a lack of evidence-based clinical management guidelines for MPX globally. There is a clear and urgent need for research into treatment and prophylaxis including for different risk populations. The current outbreak provides an opportunity to accelerate this research through coordinated high-quality studies. New evidence should be incorporated into globally accessible guidelines, to benefit patient and epidemic outcomes. A living guideline framework is recommended. Abstract Objective To review the relationship between adiponectin levels and autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) in children. Background ASDs are associated with pervasive social interaction and communication abnormalities. Researchers have studied various pathophysiological mechanisms underlying ASDs to identify predictors for an early diagnosis to optimize treatment outcomes. Immune dysfunction, perhaps mediated by a decrease in anti-inflammatory adipokine, adiponectin, along with changes in other adipokines, may play a central role in increasing the risk for ASDs. However, other factors, such as low maternal vitamin D levels, atherosclerosis, diabetes, obesity, cardio-metabolic diseases, preterm delivery, and oxytocin gene polymorphism may also contribute to increased risk for ASDs. Methods Searches on the database; PubMed, Google Scholar, and Cochrane using keywords; adiponectin, adipokines, ASD, autism, autistic disorder, included English-language studies published till September 2022. Data were extracted on mean differences between adiponectin levels in children with and without ASDs. Results The search yielded six studies providing data on adiponectin levels in young patients with ASDs. As can be seen from Table 1, four of the six studies were positive for an inverse correlation between ASD and adiponectin levels. In addition, two of the four positive and one negative studies found low adiponectin levels associated with and the severity of autistic symptoms. However, results from one reviewed study were insignificant. Conclusion Most studies reviewed yielded lower adiponectin levels in children with ASDs as well as the severity of autistic symptoms.

Abstract Gene sequencing (GS) has numerous applications in combatting oral-cavity related disorders, including identifying genetic risk factors for diseases, developing targeted therapies, and improving diagnostic methods. It can help identify specific genetic mutations or variations that increase the risk of developing oral-cavity related disorders, such as oral cancer, periodontal disease, and cleft lip and palate. By the means of the following investigation, our primary objective was to assess the impact of GS technique in diagnosing and potentially treating diseases of the oral cavity by the means of a systematic review and meta-analysis. We commenced by defining the terms "gene sequencing," "oral cavity," and "disorders" as the important elements in our investigation's subject. Next, relevant databases like PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, and Google Scholar were searched using keywords and synonyms for each concept, such as "genomic sequencing," "DNA sequencing," "oral health," "oral diseases," "dental caries," "periodontal disease," "oral cancer," and "salivary gland disorders." We combined several search terms, such as "gene sequencing AND oral disorders AND periodontal disease" or "oral cancer OR genomic sequencing," to further hone your search results using Boolean operators like "AND" and "OR." The oral cavity analysis obtained by CS in the selected articles revealed that most of the disorders were, in fact, a direct causal event influenced by the oral microbiome. Moreover, each sampled oral cavity evidenced a different microbial community, which predicted the precipitation of benign as well as malignant conditions, though not on a definitive basis. In the last ten years, genomic sequencing had advanced remarkably as majority of our selected studies observed, making it possible to diagnose and treat a variety of oral and maxillofacial disorders, including cancer. It was also used to ascertain a person's genetic make-up as well as to spot numerous genetic abnormalities that can predispose individuals to diseases. Understanding the different sequencing techniques and the resulting genetic anomalies may help with their clinical application and lead to an improvement in illness diagnosis and prognosis as a whole in the field of dentistry.

Background. Personal exposure is a crucial aspect of digital socialization. It pertains to the amount of time spent on social networks, the number of active accounts, interactions on different platforms, the content published on social networks, the purpose for which the content is shared, the degree of personal exposure, and the changes in social life caused by the exposure. Gender plays an important role in predicting online behavior, but previous studies have yielded contradictory results. Objective. To characterize personal exposure to social media in young Cubans (networks used, hours of exposure, published content, how much of one's private life is exposed, alterations due to its use). To define the differences in personal exposure based on the gender variable. Design. A survey specifically created for this research was used. The sample was composed of 3345 young Cuban residents between 18 and 35 years old. Results. The young people spent a considerable amount of time per day on WhatsApp, Instagram*, and Facebook/Messenger*. Users shared content related to humor, music/art, and their personal lives. These interactions served as a source of entertainment, a means of communication and socialization, and a platform for expressing opinions on various topics. Personal content was shared frequently. The young people reported experiencing disturbances such as family demands, decreased attention span, difficulty sleeping, and decreased social interactions. There were gender differences in the level of personal exposure, with females reporting higher levels of exposure. Conclusion.There are high levels of personal exposure among Cuban youth. Different qualities are manifested according to gender. Females reflect the highest levels of personal exposure.

Diagnostic code for postprocedural disorders of eye and adnexa (H59) was used to identify hospital admission. We used the chi-squared test to assess the difference between the hospital admission rates between 1999 and 2020.Results: Hospital admission rate decreased by 6.3% [from 4.98 (95% CI 4.79– 5.17) in 1999 to 4.67 (95% CI 4.50– 4.84) in 2020 per 100,000 persons, trend test, p< 0.05]. The most common hospital admissions causes were other postprocedural disorders of eye and adnexa “Chorioretinal scars after surgery for detachment.” The age group 75 years and above accounted for 44.3% of the total number of admissions. Hospital admission rate among females decreased by 30.2% [from 5.90 (95% CI 5.61– 6.19) in 1999 to 4.12 (95% CI 3.89– 4.35) in 2020 per 100,000 persons]. Hospital admission rate among males increased by 30.2% [from 4.02 (95% CI 3.77– 4.26) in 1999 to 5.23 (95% CI 4.97– 5.49) in 2020 per 100,000 persons].Conclusion: This study revealed that hospital admission rates for postprocedural disorders of the eye and adnexa decreased over the course of the study period. Eye and adnexa disorders accounted for the preponderance of hospital admissions among the elderly. We investigated the effect of 0.6 MeV proton irradiation on the superconducting and normal-state properties of thin-film YBa2Cu3O7−δ superconductors. A thin-film YBCO superconductor (≈567 nm thick) was subject to a series of proton irradiations with a total fluence of 7.6×1016 p/cm2. Upon irradiation, Tc was drastically decreased from 89.3 K towards zero with a corresponding increase in the normal-state resistivity above Tc. This increase in resistivity, which indicates an increase in defects inside the thin-film sample, can be converted to the dimensionless scattering rate. We found that the relation between Tc and the dimensionless scattering rate obtained during proton irradiation approximates the generalized d-wave Abrikosov–Gor’kov theory better than the previous results obtained from electron irradiations. This is an unexpected result, since the electron irradiation is known to be most effective to suppress superconductivity over other heavier ion irradiations such as proton irradiation. In comparison with the previous irradiation studies, we found that the result can be explained by two facts. First, the dominant defects created by 0.6 MeV protons can be point-like when the implantation depth is much longer than the sample thickness. Second, the presence of defects on all element sites is important to effectively suppress Tc.

Mango (Mangifera indica L.) is a popular fruit grown in tropical and subtropical regions. Mango has a distinctive aroma, flavour, and nutritional properties. Annual global mango production is >50 million tonnes. Major producers of mango include India, Bangladesh, China, Mexico, Pakistan, Indonesia, Brazil, Thailand, and the Philippines, and it is shipped worldwide. Harvested mango fruit are highly perishable, with a short shelf life. Physiological disorders are among the major factors limiting their postharvest quality and shelf life, including when fruit need phytosanitary treatments, such as hot water treatment, vapour heat treatment, and irradiation. This review focuses on problematic physiological disorders of mango flesh, including physiology and biochemistry. It considers factors contributing to the development and/or exacerbation of internal disorders. Improved production practices, including pruning, nutrient application, and irrigation, along with monitoring and managing environmental conditions (viz., temperature, humidity, and vapour pressure deficit), can potentially maintain fruit robustness to better tolerate otherwise stressful postharvest operations. As demand for mangoes on international markets is compromised by internal quality, robust fruit is crucial to maintaining existing and gaining new domestic and export consumer markets. Considering mango quality, a dynamic system, a more holistic approach encompassing pre-, at-, and post-harvest conditions as a continuum is needed to determine fruit predisposition and subsequent management of internal disorders.

Providing children with complex communication needs (CCNs) with the right accommodations in a supportive schooling environment from the early childhood development (ECD) stage can significantly improve their developmental and educational outcomes. Inclusive education has been proposed as a possible framework that can promote positive educational outcomes; however, in South Africa, there has not been enough attention paid to inclusive education in ECD especially focusing on children with CCNs. The study therefore explored the perceptions of parents of children with CCNs and early childhood development teachers on inclusive education. Semi-structured interviews and a focus group were conducted with 8 ECD teachers and 8 parents of children with CCNs, who were purposively selected. Data were imported into NVivo 1.5 software and analysed using an inductive thematic analysis approach. Findings from the study revealed the following themes: i. Perceived benefits of inclusive education; ii. Preference for special needs education; iii. Shortcomings of special needs education in addressing the needs of learners with CCNs; iv. Factors informing school placement; v. Communication as a barrier to learning, teaching and socializing; vi. The need for disability conscientization. Although both parents and teachers of learners with CCNs acknowledge the value of inclusive education in facilitating access to education, they have a mistrust of inclusive education because of fear of stigma, discrimination, exclusion, bullying and exclusionary teaching practices. While they preferred special education, they acknowledged the gaps in teacher’s knowledge on communication disorders, training of teachers, teaching aids and assistive devices. Educating a child with a disability is expensive because of other additional costs, especially transportation.

Objective: To analyze the different clinical features of patients with early-onset (EO-NMOSDs) and late-onset neuromyelitis optica spectrum diseases (LO-NMOSDs). Methods: A total of 51patients with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disease who were diagnosed in our hospital for the first time from January 2015 to December 2022 were included in the First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical College and divided into 22 cases in the EO-NMOSDs group and 29 cases in the LO-NMOSDs group according to whether the age of onset was ≥ 50 years old. The basic data, Extended Disability Status Scale (EDSS) score, blood and cerebrospinal fluid test indicators of the two groups were statistically analyzed. Results: There were no significant differences in demographic characteristics, clinical features and serum AQP-4 antibody positivity rate between the two groups (all P>0.05), and there were significant differences in triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), apolipoprotein A (APOA), apolipoprotein B (APOB) and lipoprotein a (P=0.010, P=0.048, P=0.014, P=0.061, P=0.001, respectively), and cerebrospinal fluid LDH, There were significant differences between microprotein quantification and EDSS score (P=0.018, P=0.034, P=0.025, respectively), and the level of microprotein quantification in cerebrospinal fluid of LO-NMOSDs had a certain correlation with the degree of disability (r=0.52, P<0.03). Conclusion: LO-NMOSDs and EONMOSDs group patients have similar demographic characteristics, serum AQP-4 antibody positive rate and clinical features, but compared with EO-NMOSDs, patients in LO-NMOSDs group are prone to abnormal lipid metabolism, higher trace proteins in cerebrospinal fluid and more likely to be disabled, and among LO-NMOSDs, the higher the trace protein in the cerebrospinal fluid, the more severe the disability status of patients. Neuro-ophthalmic disorders are often documented individually for each illness, with little data available on their overall incidence and pattern. The overall incidence of neuro-ophthalmic illnesses in Iraq is still not recorded. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical, demographic, and etiological features of patients seeking consultation at an Iraqi neuro-ophthalmology clinic. A prospective cross-sectional observational research was conducted at the Janna Ophthalmic Center in Baghdad, Iraq. The center serves a diverse patient population from various governorates. All newly diagnosed patients with neuro-ophthalmic disorders who visited the neuro-ophthalmological clinic, regardless of gender or age group, were included. The neuro-ophthalmologist established a diagnosis for each case by reviewing the patient's medical history, doing physical examinations, administering specific tests, and, in certain cases, using neuroimaging methods. The duration of the study was extended from March 2021 to November 2022. Among the 6440 patients evaluated, 613 cases were confirmed at the neuro-ophthalmology clinic. Ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION, AION, and PION) was the most prevalent diagnosis, accounting for 17.61% of newly reported cases in the field of neuro-ophthalmology. This was followed by sixth nerve palsy. Diabetes mellitus affected 42.7% of the cases, followed by hypertension, which affected 39.3% of the participants. The incidence of neuro-ophthalmic diseases tended to be high. The article presents key problems and the most common disorders in the functioning of adult co-dependent people. The main aim of the research was to understand the functioning of co-dependent adults as family members with alcohol problems. Particular attention was paid to the problems experienced by co-dependent adults in their biological family, their own family and professional work. The empirical material was collected using an original survey questionnaire, which consisted of 40 questions. The selection of the sample for the study was purposeful, in which the researcher selected units that met the criteria he specified and had specific properties. The study involved 143 co-dependent people who live or lived (were raised) in a family with an alcohol problem. The research results prove that in all indicated areas, co-dependent people experienced various problems and functioning disorders. They show that co-dependent people require a holistic approach from social work to the individual experiencing a problem (addicted person or co-dependent person), focused on heterogeneous influence, which increases the chances of long-term independence. Inborn errors of metabolism (IEMs) are inherited biochemical/metabolic disorders that are commonly present in the immediate neonatal period. The aim of this retrospective study was to determine the incidence and distribution of IEMs in newborn infants delivered in our hospital and to evaluate its outcome. A total of 16 494 (99.9%) newborn infants were screened for IEMs. We found 29 newborn infants diagnosed with IEMs, representing an incidence of 1 per ~569 live births and a cumulative incidence of 176 per 100 000 live births of the IEM-positive newborn infants. We detected 11 different types of IEMs, and the top 6 categories were endocrinopathies followed by carbohydrates disorders, vitamin-responsive disorders, organic acid defects, and ketogenesis and ketolysis defects. This study does reflect upon the importance of educating the general population about the perils of Consanguineous Marriages (CMs) in order to reduce related disorders significantly, especially in families who have a history of IEMs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Students with emotional and behavioral disorders have historically experienced poor outcomes in the area of reading. One strategy that has been suggested for improving oral reading fluency for students with or at risk for emotional and behavioral disorders is repeated reading. However, there has not been an evidence-based review that examines the use of this intervention for this population. The purpose of this study was to conduct an evidence-based review that examined the use of repeated reading in improving oral reading fluency outcomes for students with and at risk for emotional and behavioral disorders according to the Council for Exceptional Children's Standards for Evidence-Based Practices in Special Education. To focus on students with and at risk for emotional and behavioral disorders, we only included studies that included or disaggregated results for the target population. Although this narrow scope resulted in only six studies for inclusion, repeated reading was classified as having mixed evidence for improving the oral reading fluency of students with emotional and behavioral disorders and insufficient evidence for students at risk.
