3. Analysis of DNA Markers from Vietnamese Asarum L. Species

The Asarum L. genus includes 128 species with a lot of medicinal effects and has been used extensively in the folk prescriptions for treatment of several diseases such as bronchitis, asthma, rheumatism, and hepatitis. In the world, many researches showed that the Asarum L. species have many kinds of the essential oils such as myristicin, methyl eugenol, myrcene, asafrol, borneol, safrol or α-pinene and substances as secquiterpenes, sterols, naringenin or glycosyl flavonoids. Some reports in Vietnam have been conducted on analyzing secondary compounds of these species. However, it has done a little research on classification of these species through molecular markers. Indeed, the DNA barcoding will help overcome difficulties in recognizing many plants which were endangered species or it is rare materials with high value in medicine. In the study, four DNA barcoding regions - ITS1, ITS2, matK and rpoC were analyzed from some Asarum species that are three species of A. splendens, A. yentuense and A. petelotii. The four barcodes were well amplified by PCR and sequenced by Sanger principal. After that, analyzing sequences showed ITS1, ITS2 had the highest polymorphism, in addition, the markers and matK marker were absolutely suitable for distinguishing the Asarum L. species. The above results are of great significance for the application of the barcodes in the identification of Asarum species, in order to correctly use the medicinal plant sources.

Publisher's version (útgefin grein), Cancer is driven by genetic change, and the advent of massively parallel sequencing has enabled systematic documentation of this variation at the whole-genome scale1,2,3. Here we report the integrative analysis of 2,658 whole-cancer genomes and their matching normal tissues across 38 tumour types from the Pan-Cancer Analysis of Whole Genomes (PCAWG) Consortium of the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC) and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). We describe the generation of the PCAWG resource, facilitated by international data sharing using compute clouds. On average, cancer genomes contained 4–5 driver mutations when combining coding and non-coding genomic elements; however, in around 5% of cases no drivers were identified, suggesting that cancer driver discovery is not yet complete. Chromothripsis, in which many clustered structural variants arise in a single catastrophic event, is frequently an early event in tumour evolution; in acral melanoma, for example, these events precede most somatic point mutations and affect several cancer-associated genes simultaneously. Cancers with abnormal telomere maintenance often originate from tissues with low replicative activity and show several mechanisms of preventing telomere attrition to critical levels. Common and rare germline variants affect patterns of somatic mutation, including point mutations, structural variants and somatic retrotransposition. The water levels downstream of the Sai Gon and Dong Nai river in Southern Vietnam have been significantly changed over the last three decades, leading to severe impacts on urban flooding and salinity intrusion and threating the socio-economic development of the region and lives of many local people. In this study, the Mann-Kendall (MK) and trend-free prewhitening (TFPW) tests were applied to detect the water level trends and changepoints based on a water level time series at six gauging stations that were located along the main rivers to the sea over 1980–2019. The results indicated that the water level has rapidly increased by about 0.17 to 1.8 cm/year at most gauge stations surrounding Ho Chi Minh City, strongly relating to urbanization and the dike polder system’s impacts that eliminates the water storage space. In addition, the operation of upstream reservoirs has contributed to water level changes with significant consequences since the high-water level at Tri An station on the Dong Nai river occurs 1000–1500 times compared to 300–500 times before the operation. Although the effects of the flows from the sea are less than the two other factors, the local government should seriously consider water level changes, especially in the coastal regions. Our study contributes empirical evidence to evaluate the water level trends in the planning and development of infrastructure, which is necessary to adapt to future changes in Southern Vietnam’s hydrologic system.

The planar Hall effect of Ni, Fe, Co and Ni-Fe films with thicknesses between 100 and 1500 A is investigated in the temperature range 77 to 293°K. It is shown that the experimental data obtained may be explained by assuming that the mechanism of scattering and reflection on film surfaces does not give an appreciable contribution to the planar Hall effect. Es wird der ebene Halleffekt von Ni-, Fe-, Co- und Ni-Fe-Schichten mit Schichtdicken zwischen 100 und 1500 A im Temperaturbereich 77 bis 293 °K untersucht. Die experimentellen Ergebnisse konnen unter der Annahme erklart werden, das der Streumechanismus und die Reflexion an der Schichtoberflache keinen merklichen Anteil zum ebenen Halleffekt liefern.
