The double differential cross section of emitting particles, the mass and charge distribution of the residual nuclei from proton-induced reaction on Pb-208 with incident energy 590 MeV and 322 MeV have been analyzed by the quantum molecular dynamics (QMD). The time scale of the change of reaction mechanism in the process of reaction is investigated. The reaction process can be divided into three-stages i.e.. the direct, the cascade and the evaporation stage with the corresponding time scale of about 100 fm/c, respectively.

By 22 MeV proton inelastic scattering at the forward angle of 10°, the orbital character of new low-lying M1 excitation states in 160Gd has been verified. At the same time, several new energy levels of 160Gd are observed, and values of spin, parity and deformation length for two new energy levels with excitation energies of 2.558 and 2.607 MeV are given via collective distorted wave Born approximation calculations.

High-energy γ-rays from the deexcitation of giant dipole resonance have been measured from the decay of compound nucleus 132Ce* formed by the 16O+116Sn reaction at an incident particle energy of 85.0 MeV of 16O. The γ-ray multiplicity distribution of this reaction is calibrated with a multiplicity filter composed of 14 hexagonal BGO crystals. The shape evolution of the 132Ce* has been studied as a function of spin. The results reveal that the deformation parameter of prolate 132Ce reduces when spin increases.

The differential cross sections of the discrete gamma rays at 55® produced in the inelastic interaction of 14.2 MeV neutron with Fe, Ni, Cu, Pb and Bi have been measured using a heavy complete shielded Ge(Li) detector. TOF technique is used with the zero time picked by associated alpha particle in T(d,n)4He reaction. Tens of discrete gamma rays for each sample are identified and analysed. The energy level schemes and their transitions for various residual nuclei have been deduced. For determining the production cross sections, the correction factors of incident neutron attenuation and multiscattering in sample are calculated by Monte-Carlo method. The lowest limit of cross section measured in this experiment is about 0.2 mb/sr. The reliability of data have been checked in comparison with estimated total inelastic secttering cross sections.

The thermal neutron capture by 32S has been studied using a 140 cm3 Ge(Li) detector at the thermal column of the heavy water moderated reactor at Institute of Atomic Energy. The thermal neutron flux at sample is 2×106n/cm2‐sec and the cadmium ratio (for gold) is 200.
