Data processing plays an significant role in current multimodal model training. In this paper. we provide an comprehensive review of common data processing techniques used in modern multimodal model training with a focus on diffusion models and multimodal large language models (MLLMs). We summarized all techniques into four categories: data quality, data quantity, data distribution and data safety. We further present our findings in the choice of data process methods in different type of models. This study aims to provide guidance to multimodal models developers with effective data processing techniques.

Trading is a highly competitive task that requires a combination of strategy, knowledge, and psychological fortitude. With the recent success of large language models(LLMs), it is appealing to apply the emerging intelligence of LLM agents in this competitive arena and understanding if they can outperform professional traders. In this survey, we provide a comprehensive review of the current research on using LLMs as agents in financial trading. We summarize the common architecture used in the agent, the data inputs, and the performance of LLM trading agents in backtesting as well as the challenges presented in these research. This survey aims to provide insights into the current state of LLM-based financial trading agents and outline future research directions in this field.

Diffusion-based generative modeling has been achieving state-of-the-art results on various generation tasks. Most diffusion models, however, are limited to a single-generation modeling. Can we generalize diffusion models with the ability of multi-modal generative training for more generalizable modeling? In this paper, we propose a principled way to define a diffusion model by constructing a unified multi-modal diffusion model in a common diffusion space. We define the forward diffusion process to be driven by an information aggregation from multiple types of task-data, e.g., images for a generation task and labels for a classification task. In the reverse process, we enforce information sharing by parameterizing a shared backbone denoising network with additional modality-specific decoder heads. Such a structure can simultaneously learn to generate different types of multi-modal data with a multi-task loss, which is derived from a new multi-modal variational lower bound that generalizes the standard diffusion model. We propose several multimodal generation settings to verify our framework, including image transition, masked-image training, joint image-label and joint image-representation generative modeling. Extensive experimental results on ImageNet indicate the effectiveness of our framework for various multi-modal generative modeling, which we believe is an important research direction worthy of more future explorations., Comment: Published as a conference paper at ICLR 2024

Recent advances in large language models (LLMs) have opened new possibilities for artificial intelligence applications in finance. In this paper, we provide a practical survey focused on two key aspects of utilizing LLMs for financial tasks: existing solutions and guidance for adoption. First, we review current approaches employing LLMs in finance, including leveraging pretrained models via zero-shot or few-shot learning, fine-tuning on domain-specific data, and training custom LLMs from scratch. We summarize key models and evaluate their performance improvements on financial natural language processing tasks. Second, we propose a decision framework to guide financial professionals in selecting the appropriate LLM solution based on their use case constraints around data, compute, and performance needs. The framework provides a pathway from lightweight experimentation to heavy investment in customized LLMs. Lastly, we discuss limitations and challenges around leveraging LLMs in financial applications. The generation of smoother and shorter spiral complete coverage paths in multi-connected domains is a crucial research topic in path planning for robotic cavity machining and other related fields. Traditional methods for spiral path planning in multi-connected domains typically incorporate a subregion division procedure that leads to excessive subregion bridging, requiring longer, more sharply turning, and unevenly spaced spirals to achieve complete coverage. To address this issue, this paper proposes a novel spiral complete coverage path planning method using conformal slit mapping. It takes advantage of the fact that conformal slit mapping can transform multi-connected domains into regular disks or annuluses without the need for subregion division. Firstly, a slit mapping calculation technique is proposed for segmented cubic spline boundaries with corners. Secondly, a spiral path spacing control method is developed based on the maximum inscribed circle radius between adjacent conformal slit mapping iso-parameters. Thirdly, the spiral coverage path is derived by offsetting iso-parameters. Numerical experiments indicate that our method shares a comparable order of magnitude in computation time with the traditional PDE-based spiral complete coverage path method, but it excels in optimizing total path length, smoothness, and spacing consistency. Finally, we performed experiments on cavity milling and dry runs to compare the new method with the traditional PDE-based method in terms of machining duration and steering impact, respectively. With the rapid development of electronic science and technology, the research on wearable devices is constantly updated, but for now, it is not comprehensive for wearable devices to recognize and analyze the movement of specific sports. Based on this, this paper improves wearable devices of table tennis sport, and realizes the pattern recognition and evaluation of table tennis players' motor skills through artificial intelligence. Firstly, a device is designed to collect the movement information of table tennis players and the actual movement data is processed. Secondly, a sliding window is made to divide the collected motion data into a characteristic database of six table tennis benchmark movements. Thirdly, motion features were constructed based on feature engineering, and motor skills were identified for different models after dimensionality reduction. Finally, the hierarchical evaluation system of motor skills is established with the loss functions of different evaluation indexes. The results show that in the recognition of table tennis players' motor skills, the feature-based BP neural network proposed in this paper has higher recognition accuracy and stronger generalization ability than the traditional convolutional neural network., Comment: 34pages, 16figures

Text readability assessment has gained significant attention from researchers in various domains. However, the lack of exploration into corpus compatibility poses a challenge as different research groups utilize different corpora. In this study, we propose a novel evaluation framework, Cross-corpus text Readability Compatibility Assessment (CRCA), to address this issue. The framework encompasses three key components: (1) Corpus: CEFR, CLEC, CLOTH, NES, OSP, and RACE. Linguistic features, GloVe word vector representations, and their fusion features were extracted. (2) Classification models: Machine learning methods (XGBoost, SVM) and deep learning methods (BiLSTM, Attention-BiLSTM) were employed. (3) Compatibility metrics: RJSD, RRNSS, and NDCG metrics. Our findings revealed: (1) Validated corpus compatibility, with OSP standing out as significantly different from other datasets. (2) An adaptation effect among corpora, feature representations, and classification methods. (3) Consistent outcomes across the three metrics, validating the robustness of the compatibility assessment framework. The outcomes of this study offer valuable insights into corpus selection, feature representation, and classification methods, and it can also serve as a beginning effort for cross-corpus transfer learning., Comment: 14 pages,17 figures

Supply chain management is aimed to keep going long-term performance of the supply chain and minimize the costs. Backscatter technology provides a more efficient way of being able to identify items and real-time monitoring. Among the backscatter systems, the ambient backscatter communication (AmBC) system provides a prospect of ultra-low energy consumption and does not require controlled excitation devices. In this paper, we introduce CRCScatter, a CRC reverse algorithm-based AmBC system using a single access point (AP). A CRC reverse decoder is applied to reverse the ambient data from CRC32 sequence in the backscatter packet and realize single-AP decoding. Based on the nature of DBPSK modulation in WiFi signal, the CRCScatter system obtains the tag data by XOR and Differential decoder. Our simulation results verify the effectiveness of our proposed system in the low SNR regime. The average decoding time of CRCScatter system is independent of the length of tag data. Furthermore, our system can append redundant bits in the tag data to improve the decoding accuracy while not increasing the decoding time.

Self-supervised learning has become a popular approach in recent years for its ability to learn meaningful representations without the need for data annotation. This paper proposes a novel image augmentation technique, overlaying images, which has not been widely applied in self-supervised learning. This method is designed to provide better guidance for the model to understand underlying information, resulting in more useful representations. The proposed method is evaluated using contrastive learning, a widely used self-supervised learning method that has shown solid performance in downstream tasks. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed augmentation technique in improving the performance of self-supervised models.

We present MaskReminder, an automatic mask-wearing status estimation system based on smartwatches, to remind users who may be exposed to the COVID-19 virus transmission scenarios, to wear a mask. MaskReminder with the powerful MLP-Mixer deep learning model can effectively learn long-short range information from the inertial measurement unit readings, and can recognize the mask-related hand movements such as wearing a mask, lowering the metal strap of the mask, removing the strap from behind one side of the ears, etc. Extensive experiments on 20 volunteers and 8000+ data samples show that the average recognition accuracy is 89%. Social distancing is an efficient public health practice during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, people would violate the social distancing practice unconsciously when they conduct some social activities such as handshaking, hugging, kissing on the face or forehead, etc. In this paper, we present SoDA, a social distancing practice violation alert system based on smartwatches, for preventing COVID-19 virus transmission. SoDA utilizes recordings of accelerometers and gyroscopes to recognize activities that may violate social distancing practice with simple yet effective Vision Transformer models. Extensive experiments over 10 volunteers and 1800+ samples demonstrate that SoDA achieves social activity recognition with the accuracy of 94.7%, 1.8% negative alert, and 2.2% missing alert., Comment: 6 pages, under review
