The aim of this article is to verify whether a relationship exists between partly laws and party organizational change. While the prevailing contextualist perspective enhances the weight of social, economic and technological factors in shaping party change, we maintain that the intensity of party regulation plays a major role in this respect. Based on some basic assumption of Organizational Institutionalism, the article adopts the rationale of the Political Parties Database (PPDB): we thus conduct an in-depth empirical analysis of three core party organisational dimensions (Resources, Representative Strategies, Structures), over a total of nineteen parties in four Western European democracies (Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and the UK), from 1970s to 2010s. Our empirical findings show that, while a growing number of party laws have been introduced in the countries under consideration, their impact on party organizational convergence is far from univocal: we thus provide different possible explanations of these results. The International Affective Picture System (IAPS), widely utilized in emotion research, is based on a dimensional approach. It includes 1196 colored static images depicting different semantic categories, with valence, arousal, and dominance ratings determined for each. However, the specific discrete emotions evoked by these images within the IAPS has remained unclear. There-fore, numerous investigations have been conducted in different cultural contexts to address this matter. This study aimed to determine a subset of images from the IAPS that elicit discrete emo-tions. To achieve this goal, an image was selected for each semantic category within the IAPS, employing specific criteria, and the elicited discrete emotions were subsequently examined in a Turkish sample. Additionally, valence ratings for these images were obtained within the Turkish culture, facilitating cross-cultural comparisons. Sixty Turkish students (43 female) aged between 19-25 participated in this study. The participants rated the valence, discrete emotion category, and the intensity of the determined discrete emotion (1 = none; 9 = very strongly) for 231 select-ed images from the IAPS, respectively. Valence ratings were obtained using the paper-pencil version of the Self-Assessment Manikin. Accordingly, 76 images, of which intensity ratings above six were classified into a single discrete emotion with the agreement of 70% and above among the participants. Furthermore, the obtained data were compared with the results of studies conducted in different cultural settings to explore potential cultural differences. Overall, the results highlighted the importance of selecting culture-specific stimuli in emotion studies.

In the past two decades, the traditional nosology of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has been criticized for having insufficient discriminant validity. In line with current trends, in the present study, we combined a data-driven approach with the advantages of virtual reality aiming to identify novel behavioral profiles of ADHD based on ecological and performance-based measures of inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. One hundred and ten Spanish-speaking participants (6–16 years) with ADHD (medication-naïve, n = 57) and typically developing participants (n = 53) completed AULA, a continuous performance test embedded in virtual reality. We performed hybrid hierarchical k-means clustering methods over the whole sample on the normalized t-scores of AULA main indices. A five-cluster structure was the most optimal solution. We did not replicate ADHD subtypes. Instead, we identified two clusters sharing clinical scores on attention indices, susceptibility to distraction, and head motor activity, but with opposing scores on mean reaction time and commission errors; two clusters with good performance; and one cluster with average scores but increased response variability and slow RT. DSM-5 subtypes cut across cluster profiles. Our results suggest that latency of response and response inhibition could serve to distinguish among ADHD subpopulations and guide neuropsychological interventions. Motor activity, in contrast, seems to be a common feature among ADHD subgroups. This study highlights the poor feasibility of categorical systems to parse ADHD heterogeneity and the added value of data-driven approaches and VR-based assessments to obtain an accurate characterization of cognitive functioning in individuals with and without ADHD. Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has been increasingly recognized as a potential mental health concern for new mothers. Elevated PTSD symptoms have been associated with maladaptive coping strategies in the postpartum period, a time when women face many challenges, demands, and stressors. However, PTSD symptoms manifest in heterogeneous ways, and focusing only on total symptom scores may obscure more nuanced associations with particular coping styles. In a large, ethnically diverse sample of postpartum women from across the United States (N = 1,315), first we examined associations between total PTSD symptom severity with three distinct coping styles: active-emotional, avoidant-emotional, and problem-focused. In models adjusting for race and educational attainment, total PTSD symptom severity was significantly positively associated with tendencies to use active- and avoidant-emotional, but not problem-focused, coping. We then adopted a novel "symptomics" approach, employing relative importance analyses to examine associations between individual PTSD symptoms with the coping styles. These analyses identified PTSD symptoms that were most strongly associated with each coping style. Notably, whereas several symptoms explained variance in avoidant-emotional coping, only a few symptoms contributed most to active-emotional and problem-focused coping. Moreover, non-specific symptoms of PTSD that are shared with other psychopathology (e.g., difficulty concentrating, loss of interest) explained significant proportions of variance across all coping styles. Collectively, results suggest that a symptomics approach may provide more nuanced insight into how PTSD symptoms are linked to various coping styles in postpartum women, which can help inform potential screening and intervention targets for at-risk women during this period.

(1) Background: The search for new strategies to diagnose people at risk of suicide and to help them is highly significant in view of the still high rate of suicidality. Schema therapy and its core constructs, i.e., early maladaptive schemas (EMSs) and schema modes, correspond to both directions. (2) Methods: This study compared the severity of EMSs and schema modes in a clinical group of suicide risk, a clinical non-suicidal group, and a control group. Intragroup comparisons were also conducted between times of crisis and psychological stability. The evaluation was supported by controlling for the psychopathological symptoms presented, following the dimensional concept. (3) Results: The unquestionable relevance of the disconnection/rejection domain in suicidality has been proven. The importance of EMSs from other domains, especially during psychiatric crises, was confirmed. Among the schema modes, child and Punitive Parent modes proved to be the most significant. There were changes in coping modes but of a lesser effect size. The protective importance of the Healthy Adult and Happy Child modes was also proven. (4) Conclusions: The results provide an indication for practitioners about the EMSs and schema modes most associated with suicide risk. Background: Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is known to be a risk factor for antisocial and delinquent behaviour, but there is still a lack of information on how features of ADHD relate to offending behaviour among adults not already defined by their offending. Aims: Our aim was to add to knowledge about relationships between ADHD and antisocial behaviour among adults in the general population by answering the following questions: (A) Does the level of self‐reported ADHD features relate to criminal and non‐criminal antisocial behaviour? (B) To what extent are self‐ratings of ADHD features independent of socio‐demographic features previously identified as predictors of antisocial behaviour? Methods: A sample of adults was originally recruited to study public response to the COVID‐19 outbreak through an online panel to be representative of the Israeli population. Among other scales, the 2025 participants completed an ADHD self‐report scale, an antisocial behaviour self‐report scale and a socio‐demographic questionnaire probing for age, gender, urbanity, place of birth, socioeconomic status (education and income), family status (being in a relationship and having children) and religiosity. Results: Higher mean totals for the inattention and hyperactivity ADHD scale scores were associated with higher mean antisocial behaviour scores. These relationships were only slightly affected by socio‐demographic variables, including sex, age, education and income. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that not only may features of ADHD, even below a diagnostic threshold, constitute a risk factor for antisocial behaviour, but also that the self‐rated levels of these problems covary. Background: Understanding psychopathology in transitional age youth (TAY) requires a complex model, incorporating familial vulnerability and environmental factors. A trans-diagnostic and dimensional approach seems the most appropriate. Transition_psy study aims to assess factors playing a role in TAY psychopathology and to define predictors. Materials and methods: This article presents part of the Transition_psy study results, a case-control observational study. Youth aged 17 years old were recruited between June 2020 and December 2021, from both clinical [clinical population (CP) group] and non-clinical settings [non-clinical population (NCP) group]. Participants completed self-report questionnaires. The primary outcome to assess TAY psychopathology was the Youth-Self Report (YSR). We evaluated care needs with the Health of The Nation Outcome Scales For Children And Adolescents (HoNOSCA-SR) and quality of life with theWorld Health Organization Quality of Life - BREF (WHOQoL-BREF). Exposure factors included familial vulnerability, childhood, and present environmental factors, such as first-degree family history of psychopathology, the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) and the Family Assessment Device (FAD). YSR scores were compared, between groups, according to exposure factors with ANOVA and linear regression. We performed best subsets selection of multivariable analyses based on the Akaike Information Criterion. This study was registered with ClinicalTrials.gov (Identifier: NCT04333797). Results: A total of 220 TAY (CP = 106, NCP = 114) were included in the study. Participants were aged 17 years old. The majority were female (69.1%), single (96.8%), and born in Belgium (82.3%). Clinical data were all significantly different between CP and NCP groups. YSR scores were found statistically different according to group (p < 0.001), first-degree family history of psychopathology (p < 0.001), CTQ (p < 0.001), and FAD (p < 0.001). Predictive dimensional model suggested that TAY psychopathology can be predicted by group, CTQ and FAD. Significant positive correlation was found between YSR and HoNOSCA (rho = 0.81) and negative correlation between YSR and physical and psychological health (rho = -0.69 and -0.71, respectively). Conclusion: This study findings allowed to present a predictive dimensional model on TAY psychopathology, including belonging to a clinical population at transitional age, childhood trauma, and family dysfunction. Further research is needed to replicate Transition_psy study results in other samples. The proposed model could be used in clinical practice to improve assessment of TAY psychopathology. In pediatric patients with OCD, neuroimaging research implicates altered neural mechanisms for error‐processing, but whether abnormal brain response occurs with subclinical OCS remains poorly understood. Methods: Using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), 113 youth (8–18 years; 45 female) from a community sample were scanned during an error‐eliciting Go/No‐Go task. OCS were assessed dimensionally using the obsessive–compulsive subscale of the Child Behavior Checklist. The association between OCS scores and error‐related brain activity was examined at the whole‐brain level. Results: Lower OCS scores associated with stronger response to errors in dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (dACC), caudate, putamen, thalamus, and occipital cortex. Additionally, lower OCS related to higher capacity for inhibitory control, as indexed by greater accuracy on No‐Go trials during fMRI scanning. The relationship between lower OCS and better accuracy on No‐Go trials was mediated by greater error‐related dACC activity. Conclusions: The inverse relationship between OCS and error‐related activity in the dACC and extended cortical–striatal–thalamic circuitry may index an adaptive process by which subclinical OCS are minimized in youth. Further, these results identify an observable pattern of brain activity that tracks with subclinical OCS severity. Understanding the link between neural networks for error processing and the normal to abnormal range of OCS may pave the way for brain‐based strategies to identify children who are more likely to develop OCD and enable the targeting of preventive strategies to reduce risk. This article reviews the current knowledge state on pragmatic and structural language abilities in autism and their potential relation to extralinguistic abilities and autistic traits. The focus is on questions regarding autism language profiles with varying degrees of (selective) impairment and with respect to potential comorbidity of autism and language impairment: Is language impairment in autism the co-occurrence of two distinct conditions (comorbidity), a consequence of autism itself (no comorbidity), or one possible combination from a series of neurodevelopmental properties (dimensional approach)? As for language profiles in autism, three main groups are identified, namely, (i) verbal autistic individuals without structural language impairment, (ii) verbal autistic individuals with structural language impairment, and (iii) minimally verbal autistic individuals. However, this tripartite distinction hides enormous linguistic heterogeneity. Regarding the nature of language impairment in autism, there is currently no model of how language difficulties may interact with autism characteristics and with various extralinguistic cognitive abilities. Building such a model requires carefully designed explorations that address specific aspects of language and extralinguistic cognition. This should lead to a fundamental increase in our understanding of language impairment in autism, thereby paving the way for a substantial contribution to the question of how to best characterize neurodevelopmental disorders. Les premiers reposent plutôt sur une conception dimensionnelle des psychopathologies ; les seconds impliquent une conception catégorielle. Les premiers supposent de comparer la performance du sujet à celle d'un échantillon normatif représentatif de la population générale ; les seconds supposent de comparer la performance du sujet à celle d'un échantillon normatif constitué uniquement de sujets sains. Les premiers peuvent impliquer l'utilisation d'un score seuil pour signaler qu'un certain niveau de rareté de la performance a été dépassé ; les seconds requièrent obligatoirement l'utilisation d'un score seuil pour contrôler le risque de faire des erreurs de catégorisation (faux positifs et faux négatifs) au moment de conclure si le sujet est dans la catégorie « sain » ou « pathologique ». Avec les premiers, le score seuil définit la psychopathologie ou au moins, il y contribue. Avec les seconds, le score seuil a comme rôle de détecter la psychopathologie. A number of psychometric tests are aimed at locating the performance of an individual along a continuous range that goes from normal to worrying. In a different paradigm, there are tests whose goal is to assess whether or not an individual is healthy with respect to a psychological, psychiatric or neurological pathology that is defined independently from the test itself. The former rely on a dimensional concept of psychopathologies; the latter imply a categorical concept. The former require to compare the performance of the individual to a standard sample that is representative of the general population; the latter involve a standard sample representative of the healthy population only. The former might imply the use of a cut-off score to indicate that a certain degree of rarity of the performance has been reached, while the latter must involve a cut-off score to make a decision (whether the individual belongs to the "healthy" or "pathological" category), a score that is most often set so as to control the false-positive rate in making this decision. In the former paradigm, the cut-off score defines or contributes to define the pathology. In the latter, it only helps detecting it. The aim of this contribution is twofold: first, to verify empirically how and to what extent party organizations vary within countries, in time; second, to enhance the role of political factors in explaining organizational variance. While mainstream literature has generally overestimated cross-national party convergence, a renewed interest in the study of variance has recently gained ground. We thus focus on seven European countries, from 1990 to 2010, by combining party organizational data from the Party Organization Data Handbook and the Political Party Database Project, with domestic cultural, socioeconomic, technological data from the European Values Survey and the World Bank, as well as supranational economic data provided by the OECD. We are interested in verifying how much of the variance in party organizations can be explained by resorting to the parameters of the party systems vis-à-vis domestic and supranational extra-political factors. Keypoints Aberrant salience is a trans-nosographic trait of psychotic and pre-psychotic symptoms which is not commonly used in clinical practice. The use of the Aberrant Salience Inventory may constitute a valuable instrument for the early detection of psychosis. A dimensional approach evaluating aberrant salience may provide a different framework in the assessment of psychotic diagnoses.

Abstract Background An ongoing positive revolution advocates a new approach to the individual differences in human emotions, cognitions, and behavior that cause distress and impair functioning. This revolution endorses the long‐proposed, but still unrealized rejection of the medical model, which attributes psychological problems to a sick brain or mind. In addition, it advocates replacing the binary diagnoses used in ICD and DSM, which assume a clear discontinuity between “normal” and “abnormal” functioning, with continuous dimensions of psychological problems. Method Selective literature review. Results and Discussion Seven strong reasons are provided for adopting a dimensional approach.

Objectives: QEEG reflects neuronal activity directly rather than using indirect parameters, such as blood deoxygenation and glucose utilization, as in fMRI and PET. The correlation between QEEG spectral power density and Symptom Check List-90-R may help identify biomarkers pertaining to brain function, associated with affective disorder symptoms. This study aims at determining whether there is a relation between QEEG spectral power density and Symptom Check List-90-R symptom scores in affective disorders. Methods: This study evaluates 363 patients who were referred for the initial application and diagnosed with affective disorders according to DSM-V, with QEEG and Scl-90-R. Spectral power density was calculated for the 18 electrodes representing brain regions. Results: Somatization scores were found to be correlated with Pz and O1 theta, O1 and O2 high beta. Whereas FP1 delta activities were correlated with anxiety, F3, F4, and Pz theta were correlated with obsession scores. Interpersonal sensitivity scores were found to be correlated with F4 delta, P3, T5, P4, T6 alpha and T5, and T6 theta activities. While depression scores were correlated with P3 and T4 delta, as well as T4 theta, there was a correlation between anger and F4, as well as T4 alpha and F8 high beta activities. Paranoia scores are correlated with FP1, F7, T6 and F8 theta, T5 and F8 delta, and O2 high beta activities. Conclusions: According to our results, anxiety, obsession, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anger, and paranoia are related to some spectral powers of QEEG. The aim of the present study is to conduct a dimensional investigation of personality disorder traits based on the three-dimensional model of personality self-regulation (TDMPS). This model includes the following three basic elements for self-regulation: self-control, self-knowledge/mindfulness, and self-compassion. A total of 432 university students completed the Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire, Integrative Self-Knowledge Scale, Mindful Attention Awareness Scale, Self-Control Scale, Self-Compassion Scale, and Depression Anxiety Stress Scale. By controlling for demographic (age and gender) and psychopathological variables, the results of hierarchical regression analyses showed that the dimensional scores for schizotypal, narcissistic, and obsessive-compulsive personality disorders were characterized by deficiencies in mindfulness; antisocial personality disorder was characterized by deficiencies in self-control; paranoid personality disorder was characterized by deficiencies in mindfulness and self-compassion; histrionic personality disorder was characterized by deficiencies in mindfulness and self-control; avoidant and dependent personality disorders were characterized by deficiencies in self-knowledge and self-compassion; and finally, the dimensional scores of borderline personality disorder were characterized by deficiencies in all variables. Mental health and treatment approaches have indeed garnered attention in health care. Treatment approaches have shifted from severe and chronic disorders prevalent in the past to milder disorders. Further, these approaches aid in improving performance, health, happiness, and superiority (1). To this end, new diagnostic systems have been introduced to move away from traditional approaches (i.e., stratified diagnosis and treatment) to a dimensional approach. This shift in attitude may affect major current mental health practices requiring innovative approaches, guidelines, and care to revolutionize mental health. Thus, setting up the clinic of personality modulation was inevitable as it provides educational-therapeutic services in accordance with the most up-to-date diagnostic classification system. It can also promote the growth of mental health. Even healthy people or those who pay attention to their mental growth and development can also benefit from the clinic's services. In a dimensional approach, services are provided for those who fall in the category of difficult code of personality in the new psychiatric divisions of the ICD-11. These services will lead to their personal and professional development.To compensate for the shortcomings of previous classification systems, the ICD-11 has adopted a dimensional approach, a new approach to the classification of personality disorders, in which the focus is primarily on diagnosing and determining the severity of the disease. Moreover, the range of symptoms includes five ranges of traits related to personality disorders. These five domains encompass Negative Affectivity, Detachment, Dissociality, Disinhibition, and Anankastia (2-3). Thierry, Crawford, Mulder, Bleschfeld, Farnam, et al. (4), establishing this dimensional classification, proposed a new diagnosis called personality difficulty. Diagnosis of the personality difficulty is not a psychological disorder in itself. However, it can still be used for the clinical benefit of virtually normal individuals and has been included in the Z-scores of the ICD-11 for Non-Patients. This diagnosis consists of people who are neither typically ill nor have a personality disorder. Rather, these people have problems with life management that causes medical problems and incurs costs for the community and treatment systems (5). The researchers concluded that the proposed changes could aid clinical efficacy in diagnosing the personality disorder and selecting appropriate treatment. In this way, the misconceptions concerning the false label attached to the disorder term can be dispelled (4).Therefore, current psychiatry is moving in a direction with a program not only for patients but also for almost normal people who have problems in their lives or feel that there are some difficulties in developing their personality. One style of psychiatric treatment called cosmetic psychiatry (6) or positive psychiatry (7) has attracted attention among the whole range of psychiatric disciplines. Cosmetic Psychiatry refers to the empowerment and strengthening of people's cognitive, behavioral, and emotional processes who do not suffer from a specific disorder. In other words, the treatment is to improve a person's mental state in the absence of any clinical disorder (8). The development of the ICD-11 has led to innovative approaches which were not available before. The reason for the clinic's foundation lies in the philosophical theories presented by Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel and Sadr al-Muta'allehin Shirazi. They saw soul and psyche as a constantly evolving category. According to their theories, the soul is inherently growing and ascending unless a factor disrupts this process (9). The theoretical foundation of the approaches used in the personality modulation clinic rests on Cloninger's personality theory. This theory is known as the model of temperament and character. Cloninger divides personality into three components: temperament, character, and self-aware psyche. Temperament concerns the genetic and inherited aspect of individuals and has certain biological elements. Character deals with the semantic component of human personality and considers the individual's relationship with himself, others, and the universe. The third component is the self-aware psyche which its definition hinges on the individual's sense of intuition towards his inner abilities (10). Each element has its own characteristics and brain structures. The elements of this model and the treatment strategies presented in Cloninger's theory are employed to regulate the clinical approach in the personality modulation clinic. In this regard, pharmacotherapy and new neuroscience therapies (e.g., Biofeedback, Neurofeedback, and rTMS) are implemented to moderate temperament status and its extreme features, which can worsen the condition by affecting the patient's somatic state and ultimately inhibit Rhythmic growth of self-awareness. Understanding the neurotransmitters involved in the four temperamental traits (i.e., harm avoidance, novelty seeking, reward dependence, and persistence) and the role of neuroscience trends in our context are vital. After identifying and determining the fundamental conflicts related to character traits, pertinent psychodynamic analysis methods and eclectic psychotherapy are used for their treatment. Character aims to identify and remove barriers to the growth of all three components of self-direction, cooperation, and self- Transcendence involved in the relevant conflicts. In this particular treatment, different interventions are regarded for each person commensurate with his/her inner problems and conflicts. To develop the personality of these people, participatory intervention methods are opted. This model combines the training and supervision of a specialized psychiatric team to identify and treat clients' problems. The ultimate aim of this treatment method is to expand self-awareness on the physiological and psychological processes of the mind so that the person becomes more self-aware. Hitherto, no educational-therapeutic program with the objectives of the personality modulation clinic has been introduced and implemented neither in our country nor in the world. Hence, there is a call for a codified and coherent program with regard to the educational-therapeutic course of personality modulation due to lack of evidence. Considering the importance of this field of psychiatry, as described earlier, setting up such a clinic becomes indispensable. Also, finding such a place to get medical care is difficult for people with personality difficulty who feel that their existing personality practices do not match their capacity for growth and development. These people need to receive services with a biopsychosocial approach, although they might receive some degrees of non-specific services. This sort of service is offered to them in psychological clinics. On the other hand, counselors' opinions were based on scattered styles derived from schools of psychoanalysis- they often considered the psychological development of character and lacked a biological component (i.e., biological therapies such as pharmacotherapy and advanced neuroscience techniques used as accelerators). In sum, the clinic was established to adapt mental health services to up-to-date approaches in the country and the region to prevent the progression of personality difficulty to severe psychiatric disorders, increasing self-satisfaction in society, facilitating personal growth, and lowering high medical costs. This clinic was established by the suggestion of the first author in 2016 to combine the existing knowledge in psychotherapy, personology, and psychiatric pharmacotherapy leading to a new solution for people in need of receiving the diagnosis of personality difficulty.In addition, there is a golden opportunity for training skilled psychiatrists and residents in this field to provide services for clients in the future.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between emotional disorders symptoms according with research domain criteria dimensions and neuroticism spectrum disorders in diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders revised 5. For this purpose, 300 of depression, anxiety and OCD patients (age between 18 and 40) were selected voluntarily from six mental health centers of Tehran and invited to participate in this study. The instruments were the multi-dimensional emotion disorders inventory, Beck’s Depression, Spielberger’s anxiety and Madsley Obsessive Questionnaires. Results of the correlation between multi-dimensional emotion disorders inventory and those questionnaires were significant, that indicates high structural and convergence validity of this questionnaire by referring to the concepts of theoretical constructs. The Results of internal consistency by Cranbach’s Alpha were significant for both the multi-dimensional emotion disorders inventory subscales and for total score. Furthermore, results of the correlation between the subscales and total score (except active avoidance) were significant. Findings of the psychometric properties evaluation of multi-dimensional emotion disorders inventory represent the acceptable validity and reliability in Iranian mental disorder patients. Clinical evaluation with the multi-dimensional emotional disorders inventory leads us to evaluate ten dimensions of emotional dysfunctions in patients. Further studies suggested to emotional disorders diagnosis by this measure.

ObjectivesQEEG reflects neuronal activity directly rather than using indirect parameters, such as blood deoxygenation and glucose utilization, as in fMRI and PET. The correlation between QEEG spectral power density and Symptom Check List-90-R may help identify biomarkers pertaining to brain function, associated with affective disorder symptoms. This study aims at determining whether there is a relation between QEEG spectral power density and Symptom Check List-90-R symptom scores in affective disorders.MethodsThis study evaluates 363 patients who were referred for the initial application and diagnosed with affective disorders according to DSM-V, with QEEG and Scl-90-R. Spectral power density was calculated for the 18 electrodes representing brain regions.ResultsSomatization scores were found to be correlated with Pz and O1 theta, O1 and O2 high beta. Whereas FP1 delta activities were correlated with anxiety, F3, F4, and Pz theta were correlated with obsession scores. Interpersonal sensitivity scores were found to be correlated with F4 delta, P3, T5, P4, T6 alpha and T5, and T6 theta activities. While depression scores were correlated with P3 and T4 delta, as well as T4 theta, there was a correlation between anger and F4, as well as T4 alpha and F8 high beta activities. Paranoia scores are correlated with FP1, F7, T6 and F8 theta, T5 and F8 delta, and O2 high beta activities.ConclusionsAccording to our results, anxiety, obsession, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anger, and paranoia are related to some spectral powers of QEEG. Delta-beta coupling seems to be a neural biomarker for affective dysregulation.

Procrastination is a widespread phenomenon that has been extensively studied but about which a clear and integrated picture is still lacking, as reflected in the multiplicity and diversity of its definitions, causes and consequences. In addition, its examination in everyday life has been somewhat overlooked. The aim of this paper is to further the understanding of procrastination, first by providing an overview of its various definitions, causes, and consequences. Using a qualitative approach, we then provide an in-depth descriptive account of procrastination episodes retrospectively reported by six participants from the general population in diverse situations of their daily life, focusing in particular on the definitions, causes, and consequences of procrastination behaviours. Finally, this descriptive account of procrastination is discussed in terms of a dimensional, multifactorial, and integrative approach.

Background: Aberrant salience is the incorrect assignment of salience, significance, or value to different innocuous stimuli that might precede the onset of psychotic symptoms. The present study aimed to perform a preliminary evaluation of potentially different correlations between the Aberrant Salience Inventory (ASI) score and dimensional or categorical diagnostic approaches. Methods: 168 adult outpatients with a current psychiatric diagnosis were consecutively enrolled. Patients were evaluated using different psychometric scales. ASI was used to evaluate aberrant salience, and to evaluate the association between ASI scores and first rank symptoms (FRS), and/or with a psychiatric diagnosis. Principal dichotomic clusters of ASI were identified using the Chi-square automatic interaction detection (CHAID) method. Results: Current (16.76 ± 6.02 vs 13.37 ± 5.76; p = 0.001), lifetime (15.74 ± 6.08 vs 13.16 ± 5.74; p = 0.005) and past (15.75 ± 6.01 vs 13.33 ± 5.80; p = 0.009) FRS were the main clusters dichotomizing ASI. The average ASI score did not significantly differ among patients with different diagnoses. Conclusions: ASI could be used as a tool to identify psychopathological dimensions, rather than the categorical diagnoses, in the schizophrenic spectrum. Keypoints: Aberrant salience is a trans-nosographic trait of psychotic and pre-psychotic symptoms which is not commonly used in clinical practice. The use of the Aberrant Salience Inventory may constitute a valuable instrument for the early detection of psychosis. Longtemps déniée dans les services prenant en charge les patients souffrant de psychose, la sexualité s'est imposée comme une des dimensions fondamentales de la qualité de vie des patients. Cet article propose une grille de lecture, dimensionnelle et transnosographique, permettant la structuration et la mise en lien des données sur le fonctionnement sexuel et le fonctionnement psychologique, afin d'améliorer l'évaluation et la prise en charge des problématiques sexuelles des patients. À partir d'une recension narrative des écrits scientifiques, cet article présente les freins conceptuels, cliniques et épistémologiques à la prise en compte de la santé sexuelle des patients vivant avec un handicap psychique ; puis il propose une grille de lecture des dysfonctionnements sexuels. Enfin, il illustre l'intérêt dans son application clinique au travers d'un exemple chez des personnes présentant une schizophrénie. Nous argumentons la structuration de la grille de lecture selon 2 axes – bio-psychosocial et diachronique-synchronique. Ces deux axes rendent compte de la complexité du fonctionnement sexuel et psychologique, et permettent une démarche compréhensive des dysfonctions sexuelles, en lien avec les altérations des fonctions psychologiques. For a long time ignored in mental health services for patients with psychosis, sexuality has now become one of the fundamental dimensions of patients' quality of life. In order to improve the assessment and management of patients' sexual problems, this article proposes a dimensional and transnosographic assessment framework, structuring and linking of data on sexual and psychological functioning. A narrative review of the scientific literature focusing on the sexual health. This article presents the conceptual, clinical and epistemological obstacles to taking into account the sexual health of patients, living with a psychological disability; then this article proposes an analysis framework of sexual and psychological dysfunctions; Finally, it illustrates the interest in its application through an example in people with schizophrenia. We argue the relevance of the structuring of the assessment according to 2 axes – bio-psychosocial and diachronic-synchronic. These two axes take into account the complexity of sexual and psychological functioning, and allow a comprehensive approach of sexual dysfunctions, in connection with the alterations of psychological functions. The aim of this article is to place the recent debate on the concept of disintermediation—intended as the process of change in political representation towards more direct forms of political mediation—within the broader literature on party change, to assess its actual usefulness in the field. We maintain that the potential of this concept applied to party organization is mainly heuristic, as it describes a number of intertwined changes observable in parties' resources, representative strategies and structures. Our expectation is that contemporary parties have progressively adopted disintermediated organizational profiles, by weakening the intermediate organs while favouring both the parliamentarization of the leadership and the opening of their membership. These assumptions are empirically verified through a diachronic analysis of the party changes registered in nine European democracies, from the beginning of the 1970s to 2010. All in all, we argue that parties' internal disintermediation has increased in most countries, in the passing from the 1990s to the New Millennium. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Summary. Objective: A comparative study of the personality structure from the perspective the Five-factor personality model (“Big Five”) in mentally healthy and in people with personality disorders depending on the leading radical determined by the clinical method.Materials and methods: a comparative study of personality structures in the mentally healthy (13 people) and in individuals with personality disorders (47 people) was carried out. To assess the personality structure, the NEO-Five Factor Inventory questionnaire was used. Persons with personality disorders were divided into groups in accordance with the leading radical: 24 — with emotionally unstable; 13 — with a histrionic; 6 — with schizoid; 4 — with paranoid radicals.Results: There were no differences in the values of the domains of the Five-Factor personality model between a group of individuals with personality disorders and the norm. The features of domain indicators of the Five-factor personality model were revealed in individuals with personality disorder depending on theradical.Conclusion: The NEO-Five Factor Inventory questionnaire, like most other tools from the perspective of the Five-Factor Model, is not suitable for assessing a person in terms of assigning it to variants of a mental disorder. When comparing the categorical and dimensional approaches to assessing the structure of personality disorders, it was found that the obligate personality traits identified using the categorical approach are fully reflected in the «Big Five» in individuals with a leading schizoid radical. The relations of obligate personal traits with the domains of the Five-factor model of personality in individuals with other (paranoid, histrionic,and emotionally unstable) radicals are less clear.

High co-morbidity and substantial overlap across psychiatric disorders encourage a transition in psychiatry research from categorical to dimensional approaches that integrate neuroscience and psychopathology. Converging evidence suggests that the cerebellum is involved in a wide range of cognitive functions and mental disorders. An important question thus centers on the extent to which cerebellar function can be linked to transdiagnostic dimensions of psychopathology. To address this question, we used a multivariate data-driven statistical technique (partial least squares) to identify latent dimensions linking human cerebellar connectome as assessed by functional MRI to a large set of clinical, cognitive, and trait measures across 198 participants, including healthy controls (n = 92) as well as patients diagnosed with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (n = 35), bipolar disorder (n = 36), and schizophrenia (n = 35). Macroscale spatial gradients of connectivity at voxel level were used to characterize cerebellar connectome properties, which provide a low-dimensional representation of cerebellar connectivity, i.e., a sensorimotor-supramodal hierarchical organization. This multivariate analysis revealed significant correlated patterns of cerebellar connectivity gradients and behavioral measures that could be represented into four latent dimensions: general psychopathology, impulsivity and mood, internalizing symptoms and executive dysfunction. Each dimension was associated with a unique spatial pattern of cerebellar connectivity gradients across all participants. Multiple control analyses and 10-fold cross-validation confirmed the robustness and generalizability of the yielded four dimensions. These findings highlight the relevance of cerebellar connectivity as a necessity for the study and classification of transdiagnostic dimensions of psychopathology and call on researcher to pay more attention to the role of cerebellum in the dimensions of psychopathology, not just within the cerebral cortex.

Objective: Given that eating disorders (EDs) are considered one of the deadliest mental illnesses, the development of appropriate assessment instruments is a necessity. Despite the extensive literature on assessing EDs, there has been a lack of focus on semi-structured interviews. The purpose of this article is to provide a comprehensive review of psychometrically validated semi-structured interviews for EDs., Methods: Included studies (N = 24) were required to present a semi-structured interview for EDs that has been validated through a psychometric process. The APA PsycNet, MEDLINE, APA Psycinfo, Pubmed, and Health & Psychosocial Instruments databases were searched. The literature search included publications through May 2024, with no earliest year restriction., Results: A total of six instruments were identified and reviewed in terms of conceptual design, purpose and content, psychometric characteristics, and strengths and limitations. Three main findings were highlighted: (a) only half of the instruments are up to date; (b) the instruments are based on either a categorical or a mixed categorical-dimensional approach; and (c) the predominance of the categorical approach., Conclusions: The results are discussed regarding the conceptual approaches of the instrument to provide clinical and research implications. The literature review reveals different conceptual and methodological challenges in the field of music and emotion, such as the lack of agreement in terms of standardized datasets, and the need for replication of prior findings. Our study aimed at validating for Spanish population a set of film music stimuli previously standardized in Finnish samples. In addition, we explored the role of gender and culture in the perception of emotions through music using 102 excerpts selected from Eerola and Vuoskoski's dataset. A total of 129 voluntary undergraduate students (71.32% females) from different degrees participated voluntarily in this study, where they were instructed to rate both discrete emotions (Happiness, Sadness, Tenderness, Fear, Anger) and affective dimensions (Valence, Energy Arousal, Tension Arousal) using a 9-point scale after presentation of each excerpt. Strong similarities between Finnish and Spanish ratings were found, with only minor discrepancies across samples in the evaluation of basic emotions. Taken together, our findings suggest that the current database is suitable for future research on music and emotions. However, since most evidence comes from high-income countries, the scope and relevance of language deficits in Latin American bvFTD samples remain poorly understood. As a first step toward reversing this scenario, we review studies reporting language measures in Latin American bvFTD cohorts relative to other groups. We identified 24 papers meeting systematic criteria, mainly targeting phonemic and semantic fluency, naming, semantic processing, and comprehension skills. The evidence shows widespread impairments in these domains, often related to overall cognitive disturbances. Some of these deficits may be as severe as in other diseases where they are more widely acknowledged, such as Alzheimer's disease. Considering the prevalence and informativeness of language deficits in bvFTD patients from other world regions, the need arises for more systematic research in Latin America, ideally spanning multiple domains, in diverse languages and dialects, with validated batteries. The transversal and trans-diagnostic approach consists of a dimensional evaluation: 300 youth at the age of 17 will be included in a cohort of in-patients, out-patients and control group. Participants will be assessed at baseline (T0) and 24 months later (T1). The primary objective to determine changes in self-rated Health Of The Nation Outcome Scales For Children And Adolescents (HONOSCA-SR) and WHO Quality of Life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF) scores between T0 and T1. Pearson correlation and mediation analysis will be performed. A secondary objective analysis using mediation and moderation models with several dimensional aspects, including self-reported and cognitive measures, will be conducted to disentangle the potential relationships between the two scores.Discussion: Transition from CAMHS to AMHS occurs at a crucial age in terms of the continuum between adolescent and adulthood psychopathology. In the last years, the dimensional classification of Personality Disorders and the development of manualized treatments have contributed to a new conceptualization of these disorders. Therefore, it is necessary to implement of evidence-based clinical treatments and good practices, through the application of international guidelines for the treatment of personality disorders. The aim of this paper is to analyse the main guidelines from recent literature regarding the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD), to identify which are the recommended treatments with greater efficacy. For this reason, two of the most authoritative contributes to international guidelines were examined: National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and the American Psychiatric Association (APA). Furthermore, given the need to provide updated scientific evidence, in addition to the guidelines, recent reviews and meta-analyses on the treatment of disorders in question were considered. In the last part of this work, the attention was placed on the current diagnostic classification of personality disorders, which aims at the functioning and personality traits rather than the nosographic diagnosis only, with a specific focus on Borderline Disorder and Antisocial Personality Disorder. In conclusion, literature seems to suggest the clinician a greater attention to the dimensional aspect of personality disorders within the psychotherapeutic intervention because it allows the use of specific traits and domains for setting up a more targeted intervention. The dimensional approach to personality allows for a broader understanding of the particular distortions of affectivity in the psychopathic personality. This can only be described in the context of the diversity and ideological and axiological anarchy characteristic of contemporary society in biologically vulnerable subjects. The empathic capacity of the psychopathic personality – viewed from the perspective of its two components, one cognitive and one affective – allows the understanding of the discrepancy between the ability to anticipate the needs and expectation of others in the form of “empathy” used strictly for manipulative purposes. Since the relationship between leaders and subordinates has important implications for organizations, exploring how high-quality leader–member exchange (LMX) relationships develop over time is a critical research objective. However, LMX research has essentially focused on leader-centric approaches to describe how leaders develop differential relationships with subordinates and has devoted little attention to the influence of subordinate characteristics. This study contends that subordinates’ individual differences may act as drivers of LMX relationships. Specifically, we posited that individuals with an internal work locus of control, owing to their sense of control over the work environment, are more prone to develop high LMX relationships over time. Moreover, we expected this effect to be enhanced when these individuals are given clear expectations about their work role because such conditions would ease their sense of agency. Further, we suggested that these effects may partly depend on the dimension of LMX (i.e., affect, loyalty, contribution, and professional respect) under consideration. We argued that the effect of internal work locus of control would generalize to all LMX dimensions but that its interaction with role clarity would primarily impact the loyalty and contribution dimensions of LMX as their behavioral orientation would result in valued outcomes for internals. Data were collected through questionnaires among a sample of 424 employees working in various industries. Through a two-wave study and controlling for the autoregressive effects of LMX, subordinates’ internal work locus of control was found to enhance LMX relationships over time. Using a multidimensional approach to LMX, our results further show that the effect of internal work locus of control generalized to all dimensions of LMX. Using a contextualized view of the development of LMX, we also found that role clarity moderated the positive relationship between internal work locus of control and LMX over time such that the relationship was stronger when role clarity was high. However, from a dimensional perspective, role clarity only accentuated the relationship between work locus of control and LMX’s loyalty dimension. The implications of these findings for LMX research are discussed.

Because of our classification system limitations for defining psychiatric disorders and understanding their physiopathology, a new research area based on dimensions has emerged. It consists of exploring domains derived from fundamental behavioral components linked to neurobiological systems. Emotional processing is among the most affected dimensions in bipolar disorders (BD), but is excluded from the definition criteria. The purpose of this review is to synthesize the emotional responses disruption during the different phases of BD, using intensity and valence as the two key characteristics of emotions. We integrate those emotional disruptions into an original, emotion-based model contrasting with the current diagnostic frame built on mood. Emotional processing is underpinned by cortico-limbic circuits involving the amygdala. Recent publications showed the crucial role of the amygdala in emotional processes triggered by stimuli of negative, but also positive valence. We show how these neuroscience data can provide physiological basis for emotional disturbances observed in BD. We conclude with translational perspectives to improve the current knowledge about neural substrates underlying altered emotional responses characterizing BD. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
