Copper sulfate reducer is useful for lightening and improving the diagnostic quality of dark radiographs The solution consists of capper sulfate, sodium chloride, and sulfuric acid. The radiograph is immersed and bleached in the solution until it turns white, redeveloped in weak developer, and fixed. Reduction is superproportional; that is, the percentage of reduction is greater in darker areas than it is in lighter areas. The degree of reduction decreases with increases redevelopment time. The article presents a study regarding the effect of chromium intensification of a processed dental radiograph. The chromium intensifier used in the study is a solution of potassium bichromate and hydrochloric acid and the processed film is immersed and bleached in this solution. It is then rinsed and redeveloped in artificial light or daylight. The method for chromium intensification has been described. It was found that the intensifier is useful for the intensification and improvement of the diagnostic quality of a light dental radiograph. It was also found that the degree of intensification can be controlled by several ways including varying of redevelopment time, repeating the process or varying the proportions of the contents of intensifier.
