Abstract

Abstract Background: The atypical (symplastic) uterine leiomyoma is uncommon and is often characterized by similar macroscopic features as typical uterine fibroid but differs microscopically by having intense cytological features such as enlargement of the nucleus, hyperchromasia, and prominent nucleoli. It lacks histopathological features usually seen in leiomyosarcoma but harbours a low potential of transformation into leiomyosarcoma. Atypical leiomyoma very rarely occurs in post-menopausal women. Case presentation: A 78-year-old postmenopausal woman presented to our gynaecology clinic with an 8-month history of post-menopausal bleeding and abdominal swelling. Physical examination revealed abdominal swelling but blood chemistry was normal. An initial diagnosis of endometrial carcinoma was made and she subsequently had a total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. Following histopathological evaluations, a confirmatory diagnosis of atypical uterine leiomyoma was made. She has been symptom-free for two years following surgical intervention. Conclusion: Despite their rarity in postmenopausal women, atypical fibroids should be considered in the differential diagnosis for postmenopausal bleeding. Considering the malignant transformation potential, recurrence risk of this pathology, and the completion of family size in this case, hysterectomy is the most preferred treatment option even though myomectomy can be offered to patients with plans of conception in the future.

Abstract

Competition is a primary driver of player satisfaction and engagement in multiplayer online games. Traditional matchmaking systems aim at creating matches involving teams of similar aggregated individual skill levels, such as Elo score or TrueSkill. However, team dynamics cannot be solely captured using such linear predictors. Recently, it has been shown that nonlinear predictors that target to learn probability of winning as a function of player and team features significantly outperforms these linear skill-based methods. In this paper, we show that using final score difference provides yet a better prediction metric for competitive balance. We also show that a linear model trained on a carefully selected set of team and individual features achieves almost the performance of the more powerful neural network model while offering two orders of magnitude inference speed improvement. 15. Impact of Children’s Emotional Influencing Strategies on Parental Purchasing Decision on Children’s Food

Abstract

The study focused on impact of children’s emotional influencing strategies on parental purchasing decision on children’s food. The justification for the study was that it examined how emotional strategies help children to influence parental purchasing decision on children’s food. The specific objective of the study was to examine the extent which children’s emotional influencing strategies affect parents in purchasing food for their children. Survey research design was used. Out of the 400 respondents, 386(97%) were considered valid and used. Simple percentage was used to analyze responses to structured questionnaire items. Multiple regression technique was used to test hypothesis. Results indicated that children’s emotional influencing strategies have a significant effect on parental purchasing decision on children’s food. A major recommendation was that manufacturers and marketers of children’s food products should constantly study children’s emotional behavior with a view to designing food products and communication campaign capable of meeting children’s needs.

Abstract

Abstract Background Managing and organizing biological knowledge remains a major challenge, due to the complexity of living systems. Recently, systemic representations have been promising in tackling such a challenge at the whole-cell scale. In such representations, the cell is considered as a system composed of interlocked subsystems. The need is now to define a relevant formalization of the systemic description of cellular processes. Results We introduce BiPOm (Biological interlocked Process Ontology for metabolism) an ontology to represent metabolic processes as interlocked subsystems using a limited number of classes and properties. We explicitly formalized the relations between the enzyme, its activity, the substrates and the products of the reaction, as well as the active state of all involved molecules. We further showed that the information of molecules such as molecular types or molecular properties can be deduced by automatic reasoning using logical rules. The information necessary to populate BiPOm can be extracted from existing databases or existing bio-ontologies. Conclusion BiPOm provides a formal rule-based knowledge representation to relate all cellular components together by considering the cellular system as a whole. It relies on a paradigm shift where the anchorage of knowledge is rerouted from the molecule to the biological process. Availability BiPOm can be downloaded at https://github.com/SysBioInra/SysOnto

Abstract

The study examined the effect of product rejuvenation on customer-based brand equity of Rite Foods Limited. Primary data was sourced through the administration of a structured questionnaire to the employees of the selected firm, while secondary data was obtained through the review of related literature. The study adopted the descriptive research design, which aids the researcher in collecting quantitative data used to address the relationship between the dependent and independent variables. A total of 188 copies of the questionnaire were administered adopting random sampling techniques. Data collected were analyzed using Pearson’s correlation coefficient and hypotheses were tested using multiple regression. The findings revealed that rebranding, brand positioning, brand extension, and product differentiation has positive effect on customer-based brand equity. The study concluded that product rejuvenation is a strategic process initiated to improve the existing product, process, or brand to meet the changing demands and requirements of consumers in the evolving market. It is a corrective measure applied when the business or the product is at the maturity or decline stage (alarming phase) of its life cycle and is on the verge of becoming obsolete. Therefore, it must be carefully planned such that the essence of the entity remains intact even though its products are modernized. Abstract

This dataset is composed of symbolic and quantitative entities concerning food packaging composition and gas permeability. It was created from 50 scientific articles in English registered in html format from several international journals on the ScienceDirect website. The files were annotated independently by three experts on a WebAnno server. The aim of the annotation task was to recognize all entities related to packaging permeability measures and packaging composition. This annotation task is driven by an Ontological and Terminological Resource (OTR). An annotation guideline was designed in a collective and iterative approach involving the annotators. This dataset can be used to train or evaluate natural language processing (NLP) approaches in experimental fields, such as specialized entity recognition (e.g. terms and variations, units of measure, complex numerical values) or sentence level binary relation (e.g. value to unit, term to acronym).
