The Raven Minimetre appears to be a useful device for measuring the height of children in developing countries. Accurate height measurements of these children are important in research studies concerned with growth patterns, nutrition and public health programs in developing countries. Researchers compared measurements of 20 children in rural Ecuador done with the Raven Minimetre and the Harpenden Stadiometer. The children were measured in a health center with both instruments. Six months later, the children were measured at home with the Raven Minimetre and then at the center with the Harpenden Stadiometer. Measurements were taken both in the morning and evening. The Raven Minimetre measurements done at the center and at the children's homes were not significantly different from the Harpenden Stadiometer measurements. The morning height measurements were significantly greater than the evening measurements.
