Objectives We aimed to explore and understand the extent and type of evidence on fertility reduction and its association with family planning (FP) in Southeast Asia.Design Scoping review, following the methodological principles developed by Arksey and O’Malley and Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews guidelines for reporting.Data source We searched PubMed/MEDLINE, ProQuest, EBSCO, Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar and reference lists of relevant articles between 1 January 2012 and 31 December 2022. Only open-access articles in English were considered.Study selection For inclusion, observational studies were selected for eligibility based on the original articles investigating the uptake of FP on women aged 15–49 years and its association with fertility decline in Southeast Asian (SEA) countries.Data extraction and analysis Two reviewers screened the records independently for eligibility and extracted all data. The specific details of the studies, including data on the authors, year of publication, setting, study design, aims/objectives of the study, specific intervention, outcomes and main findings, were reported.Results We retrieved 615 articles and retained 12 articles included in the analysis. Of these, 11 were quantitative studies and 1 was qualitative study. The frequently reported strategy of FP was the use of contraception. FP not only allows women to control their birth by spacing and limiting their pregnancies but also delay their first childbirth by using contraceptive methods.Conclusion Our review suggests that the FP programmes aiming at reducing fertility should have a specific focus on improving the uptake and continuation of FP services.

The existence of TikTok is often used to present oneself virtually. However, this virtual appearance can cause individuals to attempt to commit appearance fraud or lying self-presentation, which they believe can affect their self-esteem as the best version of themselves. This research aims to determine the influence of self-esteem on online self-presentation among adolescent users of the TikTok application in Tasikmalaya Regency. The design of this research uses a correlational quantitative approach. The sampling technique used in this research was a non-probability sampling method with an accidental sampling type and obtained a sample of 537 research subjects. This research uses two scales adapted by researchers, including the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) to measure self-esteem and The Presentation of Online-Self Scale (POSS) to measure online self-presentation. The data analysis technique uses simple linear regression. This study's results show that self-esteem significantly influences online self-presentation among teenage TikTok users in Tasikmalaya Regency (t equals 27.154; p equals 0.01 less than 0.05; R2 equals 0.020). This research concludes that the lower self-esteem, the higher online self-presentation in adolescents. In this case, self-esteem contributes to online self-presentation by 2 percent.

Background Low birth weight (LBW) is a major public health problem in Indonesia, and is a leading cause of neonatal mortality. Adequate antenatal care (ANC) utilization would help to prevent the incidence of LBW babies. This study aims to examine the association between ANC utilization and LBW children among women with high-risk birth criteria. High-risk birth criteria consisted of 4T which were too young (mother’s age 35 years old), too close (age gap between children 2 children). Methods This study utilized calendar data from the women’s module from the 2017 Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey (IDHS), with the unit of analysis only the last birth of women of childbearing age (15–49), which numbered 16,627 women. From this number, analysis was done by separating the criteria for women with high-risk birth. Multivariate logistic regression analyses were employed to assess the impact of ANC and socio-demographic factors on LBW among women with high-risk birth criteria. Results This study revealed that only among women with too many children criteria (>2 children), adequate ANC utilization was significantly associated with LBW of children, even after controlling for a range of socio-demographic factors (p < 0.05). In all four women criteria, preterm birth was more likely to have LBW than those infants who were born normally (above and equal to 2500 grams) (p < 0.001). Conclusions According to WHO, qualified ANC standards have not been fully implemented, including in the case of ANC visits of at least eight times, and it is hoped that ANC with health workers at health facilities can be increased. There is also a need for increased monitoring of pregnant women with a high risk of 4T to keep doing ANC visits to reduce LBW births.

Universal health insurance is widely believed to be a key strategy for improving health services. However, few studies have examined whether it increases the use of modern contraceptives. The purpose of the present research is to determine whether the policy of incorporating family planning services into the national health insurance policy in Indonesia ( Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional [JKN], implemented in 2016) has led to an increase in the use of modern contraceptives. The data were obtained from the 2019 Government Performance and Accountability Survey (GPAS; T otal = 46,220 married women aged 15–49 years). The findings show that women who are covered by the health insurance scheme for non-poor families (JKN non-PBI) are 19.12 times more likely to use modern contraceptives than women who are uninsured. Women who are covered by health insurance scheme for poor families (JKN PBI) are 17.04 times more likely to use modern contraceptives than those who are uninsured. These results are robust against predisposing, enabling and need factors associated with modern contraceptive uptake (i.e., education, family economic status, religion, knowledge of modern contraception, age at time of first marriage, perception of the ideal number of children, number of children born alive, and area of residence). The findings suggest that the government should expand health insurance benefits in order to increase the uptake of modern contraceptives, particularly among disadvantaged group within communities.

This analysis aimed to examine the relationship between family development and risky adolescent sexual behavior in Indonesia. The data were taken from the 2018 Performance and Accountability Survey with a family and adolescent questionnaire; thus, the relationship between parents and adolescents could be identified. The statistical analysis methods used were descriptive and inferential analyses, with the unit of analysis being 15,556 teenagers who dated. The results of the logistic regression analysis (Model 1) by using all the independent variables simultaneously found that sexual risk behavior was mostly found in in boys, age categories 20-24 years, and participants who never had access to PIK-R. Risky sexual behavior was also dependent on whether participants agreed to have relations sexual before marriage, and also the level of education of their parents. The logistic regression analysis (Model 2) found residence, gender, level of adolescent education, age categories, agreement to have sexual relations before marriage, age groups of head of family, gender of head of family, education level of head of family, work status of head of family, economic status, and the activeness of the BKR activities contributed to adolescents committing risky sexual behaviors.
