This technique entails a supratarsal conjunctival incision combined with lateral canthotomy and superior cantholysis.Complete removal of the mass without visible scars was achieved in all cases. There were no complications related to this approach.The swinging upper eyelid approach produces a wide exposure of the superolateral orbit. N,N′‐bis(2,4‐dihydroxy benzaldehyde‐1,2‐diaminobenzene) (H4L) formed from the reaction of 2,4‐dihydroxybenzaldehyde and 1,2‐diaminobenzene was complexed with Cu (II), Co (II), Ni (II), Mn (II), and UO2(II) ions. The formed complexes have been characterized by their physical data, spectral studies such as FT‐IR, Uv–Vis., 1H & 13C NMR, Mass, elemental microanalysis (C.H.N.), thermal analysis, X‐ray diffraction, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The molecular docking between the protein receptors of the H4L ligand and its complexes was studied as theoretical method. The ligand and its metal complexes (1–5) were tested for their ability to inhibit the growth of various pathogenic microbial strains. The biological significance of the Schiff base compound and complexes as antifungal, antibacterial, and anticandidal agents as well as cytotoxicity was studied. The tested microorganisms respond better to the metal complexes than the Schiff base ligand. In comparison to the ligand, complexes, and penicillin, the UO2(II) complex (5) demonstrated the strongest antibacterial activity. In comparison to ligand, complexes, and miconazole, the UO2(II) complex (5) has antifungal activity against Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans. Complexes (1) and (5) have higher activity of antibacterial than other complexes against Pseudomonas sp. and the highest antifungal and anticandidal activity in comparison with miconazole. The ligand and its complexes showed a dose‐dependent antibacterial action according to the minimum inhibition concentration test. Using Tafel polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy experiments, the protective impact of the bis‐Schiff base ligand (H4L) ligand versus Q235 Steel and its adsorption performance were investigated. The interaction between H4L Schiff base and complexes (1)–(5) and calf thymus DNA shows hypochromism effect coupled with obvious bathochromic shift. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: To report the outcomes of a transcutaneous surgical technique for orbital volume augmentation with secondary alloplastic implants in acquired anophthalmia. Methods: Retrospective case note review of patients who underwent secondary orbital implant insertion through a subciliary incision between January 2006 and December 2017. Collected data included age, gender, type and cause of primary surgery, time interval before secondary implantation, and details of secondary implantation surgery. The main outcome parameters included postoperative appearance, grade of superior sulcus deformity (SSD), implant centration, and prosthesis function. Results: Thirty-eight patients ranging from 2 to 54 years had undergone secondary alloplastic orbital implant placement through the subciliary approach. The mean follow-up was 5.3 years (range: 1–10 years). All the patients showed satisfactory orbital volume with the average SSD was grade 0.74. There were no cases with implant exposure or extrusion. Implant migration occurred in six cases (15.8%). Fitting a prosthesis was possible in all cases. Conclusion: Subciliary secondary orbital implantation is proved to be effective in correcting volume deficiency in acquired anophthalmia with rapid rehabilitation while avoiding anterior surface breakdown and implant exposure. A new sensitive and selective modified screen printed electrodes (MSPEs) and carbon paste electrodes (MCPEs) were studied in order to determine trimbutine maleate (TM) in pure, tablets, urine, and serum samples. These sensors were embodied with multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) since it improved the quality of the sensors in presence of potassium tetrakis (p-chlorophenyl) borate (KTpClPB) ionophore. A good Nernstian response for the constructed sensors, at optimum paste composition, was exhibited for determination of TM in concentration range of 1.5 × 10-7 - 1.0 × 10-2 and 1.0 × 10-7- 1.0 × 10-2 mol L-1 at 25 °C with detection limit of 1.5 × 10-7 and 1.0 × 10-7 mol L-1 for MCPE and MSPE, respectively. It seemed that the potential of the electrodes was independent on pH in the range of 2.0-8.0, 2.0-8.5, 2.0-8.5, and 2.0-9.0 giving slope as 56.77 ± 1.11, 57.82 ± 0.54, 57.95 ± 0.37, and 58.99 ± 0.28 mV decade-1 for electrodes 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively. MCPEs and MSPEs gave response time about 8 and 6 s with long lifetime (more than 3 and 5 months), respectively. A high selectivity of sensors was observed for TM regarding to a large number of interfering species. The constructed sensors were successfully applied for determination of TM in pure form, its pharmaceutical preparations and biological fluids using standard addition, calibration, and potentiometric titration methods with high precision and accuracy.
